It has a standard SQL engine to write queries once and reuse across multiple platforms, and it provides high availability while providing extended computing and storage on the managed cloud. It allows database partitioning to manage computations and parallel processing of queries efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be great if we could have support to have a native UI tool to view data and execute queries. The query performance might be slow sometimes for long-running processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are the user of IBM DB2 since very early v7. v8, now we are on v11+.
This product after v11+ is amazing ------
* for very large DB (which we are using) the exteded compressed columnar-tables partitioned DB env make the BLU acceleration so fast that our DW's ETL (also IBM product) & Reporting so fast
* the workloads for OLTP are high balanced/improved that make all combined jobs have an average higher performance
* the Nested Loop Join (NLJN) made SQL-Merge so fast that a parallel sort using much less memory. Amazing.
* installation and migration become much easier with altogether software delivery.
* the security even more amzing that extended native encryption from local key store upgraded to enterpise level (with using Key Manager, KMIP)
* overall tech support are making sense. Not bad.
We are preparing to upgrade to DB2 v12. So far, we are overally satisfy this product with using other IBM DB management tool like Datastage (ETL) etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Still some bugs found with v11.1 (which mostly fixed in v11.5), eg. IT35682; IT39085; IT34931 we experienced. But IBM-Support clearly explained that and provied alternatives.
We hope IBM can develop some kind of GUI All-in-One management (Web based) software/platform for DBA (especially) just like Oracle-Enterprise-Manager. Though there are some 3rd-party software on the market like DBI for DB2 Gui management, we hope IBM can 'invent' own software that could be includeded into the DB2 database software itself (for save on licensing) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been using for for almost 20 years. Started on the mainframe then moved to UNIX. I really like Performance and Stability of this product.
We used to had very serious power issue and a lot of boxes crashed, a couple Oracle server could not come up and there was no issue with db2 crash recovery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would like db2 on Unix to include something like cold start option and include a native utility to analyze log files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have worked on 2 different SQL platforms previously (Microsoft and Adobe). I have been using DB2 for the past one year since I started working in the BFS domain. The best thing I like about DB2 is how seamlessly it integrates with COBOL program with just the use of a SQLCA section. Apart from the common select, update or insert another feature I really love is the cursor feature and fetch options. It helps to navigate the database and choose the exact plan number or ssn relevant to that COBOL code . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes I came across compilation errors when I try to execute COBOL codes using the DCLGEN utility for DB2. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its ability to integrate with mainframe DB2 is seamless and the performance is too good with near zero down time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Tooling needs an improvement is what I feel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's interface and the functionality is very friendly. People can perform multiple task with help of query on this platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's shortcut keys are needed to remember for performing some task. But as a regular user of this platform can create understanding of it easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

IBM DB2 is robust and truly a scaleble database which can handle large amount of data and transactions in very effecient manner. Security level of the database is perfect and up to the mark. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
GUI can be the one of the reason which I think IBM need to improve. Rest of the things are good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

4. Seamless IBM ecosystem integration Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Steep learning curve, complexity for advanced features.
2. Premium cost for support, slower response for minor issues
3. Limited third-party tools, potential vendor lock-in
4. Overly complex for smaller project Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interesting part of DB2 is its relaibility and robustness that helps the data additional, modification and retrieval of information with ease and quick.
It's integration with other external systems is one of the key factor that changed the data processing. The backend system fo the legacy systems like mainframes and other payment processing system revolutionized the digital world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
