"Valuable Insights, But Setup Needs Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate having all financial data organized in one place with IBM Apptio, which aids significantly in financial transparency, planning, and forecasting. This consolidation of information empowers me to perform budget variance analysis and make more informed forecasting decisions, which is invaluable for managing the total cost of ownership in the future state. What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find the education for TBMA lacking. Even after a year and completing all available education, there are still knowledge gaps. Some sessions are only available in person, which limits accessibility, and I struggle with the education portal when trying to find specific sessions to address my questions because searching for issues is difficult. Additionally, the initial setup was challenging due to a lack of insights into the TBM taxonomy and framework. IBM Apptio seemed more focused on implementing a system rather than a framework, making it hard for us as customers to understand the difference. I would recommend Apptio as a system, but would hesitate to recommend their implementation and support services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I think one challenge with IBM Apptio is that it requires a very specific skill set to build out and maintain the model within the TBM Studio. It would be great if it was a little more user-friendly on the back end and didn't require as much from initial support users. The initial setup was also a bit complicated and took a lot of work, as it involves many intricacies in building out the cost model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been using IBM Apptio for approximately 18 months for budget management and find the ease of use to be one of its greatest assets. The software simplifies the readability of budget data, making it easier to understand for those who may not be as budget-oriented. I particularly value the different views, especially the 'In Development' and 'Production' views, which are incredibly helpful during our beginning-of-the-month validations. What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

The behind-the-scenes operations, such as adjusting filters and creating tables in IBM Apptio, are challenging for me. Despite using the platform for budget management effectively, I find these technical aspects difficult to grasp. As a result, we have to consult external help to manage these tasks efficiently, which indicates a steep learning curve or lack of intuitive design in handling advanced features. "Highly Customizable but Needs Robust Improvements"
4/5
What do you like best about IBM Apptio?

I appreciate the ability to customize IBM Apptio to suit specific business needs. It offers the flexibility to use out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality while also allowing customization of those features to fit unique use cases. I find this level of flexibility incredibly beneficial as it ensures the tool adapts well to various operational demands. Additionally, IBM Apptio serves as a one-stop shop for reporting, streamlining the process of accessing and managing reports efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Apptio?

I find that the Apptio Target process needs significant improvements. While Apptio One is robust and appears to have a lot of effort put into its design, the Target process does not feel as mature or developed. Additionally, I see potential for the product but am not completely satisfied with its current maturity level. Another area for improvement is moving towards a more event-based architecture to align with industry standards. Furthermore, the initial setup of IBM Apptio was difficult for my team.
