## Azure Reviews
  ### 1. Azure : Globally available cloud computing platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phani Venkata Sai B. | Architectural Staff, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Azure?**

Azure is a highly available cloud computing platform with a massive user base and is a market leader in the cloud computing space after AWS. It has many services that provide organizations, users, and developers a lot compared to on-premise deployments that consume a lot of CAPEX. In contrast, Azure majorly operates on an OPEX model, which gives organizations the flexibility to build their infrastructure without maintaining dedicated data centers.

**What do you dislike about Azure?**

Using Azure services or platforms incurs a good amount of costs if not adequately managed or optimized. Azure GUI looks are cumbersome, and availability is also not 100%; these are a few things that i don't like about Azure.

**What problems is Azure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us deploy our resources on demand with highly scalable flexibility and availability to quickly cater to business continuity and disaster recovery.
Azure helps us onboarding users onto the newly built platforms in a few hours unlike on-premise infrastructure, which would take a reasonable amount of time to set up and onboard users.

**What do you like best about Azure?**

Azure is an easy tool to work with and very useful in our releases. We can track from end to end and have the time tracking for each demand. Additionally, data extraction supports the demonstration of results.

**What do you dislike about Azure?**

There is nothing very specific. However, I have difficulty finding what I need in some parts. The search is not always accurate, and this makes the research time longer.

**What problems is Azure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Management of demands with agility.
Time tracking.
Report extraction for decision-making according to the charts.
Schedule of demands and activities.

**What do you like best about Azure?**

The Azure Applied AI and Cognitive Services are the best; its fairly easy to setup and enables to run training and inference without needing to worry about dependencies and resources.

**What do you dislike about Azure?**

The API documentation could have been better for the Cognitive Services; finding the exact access points and integrating them on various platforms is rather cumbersome. The learning curve can be steep.

**What problems is Azure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General ML model training and inference, also model deployment. It's very fast and scales up pretty quickly whenever we need more 'training' resources.

**What do you like best about Azure?**

Managed instances of databases need no knowledge of the underlying hardware or the often complex install procedures. ETL options are varied from use of Azure Data Factory to Logic Apps, PowerPlatform, Azure Functions & more. The Synapse Analytics package is evolving & hits many points in a joined-up way. Good support from Microsoft.

**What do you dislike about Azure?**

Often too many ways to do the same thing & it takes investigation to determine what Azure resources to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure:**

Set aside time to investigate what your solution might look like. Don't be afraid to build and then tear down. Watch costs closely and be aware of how they increase as you scale up. Consider costs when building solutions often there is an alternative cheaper way to do something.

**What problems is Azure solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data warehousing. ETL, data transformation to develop PowerBI solutions.

I've been able to bring up all of the services that I run on a minimal number of hosts. Whenever I've needed to add additional resources (CPU or RAM, for example), the task has been fairly seamless with minimal downtime.
