What do you like best about Hologram?

It is very refreshing to find a technological solution that is so easy to work with, get the SIM card, stick it in the device, and away it goes. I looked for local options in my country, but none of the local carriers could give me a better deal on data rates for my solution.

The responsiveness of the team is also very welcomed. Being in a very different time zone (GMT+12), it is always uncertain how long I would have to wait for a response. Still, Hologram's team has always responded very quickly, which has meant that any issues have been sorted without much downtime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hologram?

Interacting with the dashboard has been frustrating at times. Messages failing to show and updates not "applying" correctly have been recurrent. I have resorted many times to implementing custom API requests using Postman or the Thunder extension for VSCode because the dashboard hasn't been reliable enough for me to diagnose issues with the data from my devices. Recommendations to others considering Hologram:

I have no regrets about choosing Hologram for my devices, but I can only say that for my use case. In general, I'd advise checking very thoroughly that the locations where you intend to deploy your assets are covered by the technology you want to use. I have found that the 2G coverage has been great in NZ and the US but not in Sweden (part of that can be sorted by upgrading my devices ... in my roadmap).

The great thing about Hologram is that you can get a SIM card to test the integration with your devices and then scale up your deployments as needed so it's a very low-risk initial investment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Hologram solving and how is that benefiting you?

My application is about environmental monitoring (air quality), and my original issue was that I wanted a mobile phone solution for my modems that would remove the hassle of changing SIM cards when sending our devices to our collaborators overseas. An unexpected benefit has been that the local carriers haven't improved on Hologram's data charge rate, so I even saved money! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Hologram?

Hologram has solved one of the major bottlenecks we have faced in the past and that is the constraint of relying upon a single cellular carrier. With hologram, our devices are able to work out of the box, without any major hurdles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hologram?

Unlike more mature companies like BICS, Hologram lacks the infrastructure or the option to make carrier selections on a dashboard level. Thie support team is not at all up to the mark, and when your device runs into trouble with the local carrier (network failure of Internet connectivity failure), you are in for a rollercoaster ride! No 24x7 support, all supports are on emails, and they have their people sitting in the US with a12 hour time difference! This leads to a delayed response from both parties involved! As a startup, they are unable to handle customer support and are unable to provide the required features that are crucial for smooth operations.

To sum up, if the device is working smoothly with the carrier, you will have 0 issues. But if even the tiniest of issues arise, expect a weeks time minimum for any resolution to take place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Hologram:

Until they come up with network locking methodologies, it is difficult to debug remote device installations once issues arise from local carriers. The hologram team does not do anything without device diagnostic logs, and like us, if your devices are situated in rural or remote places, collecting such logs becomes difficult. So keep this in mind.

For the premium amount we pay per MB of data, this particular issue is causing us a lot of pain! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Hologram solving and how is that benefiting you?

The only major benefit we are getting is that we do not have to get tied up with multiple carriers and multiple carrier plans. With hologram, this bottleneck is getting eradicated. What do you like best about Hologram?

We have been using Hologram Sims and their Services for the last three years, and it has been a pleasant experience. Here are some of the things that I love about Hologram,

- It's Hardware agnostic, which means it doesn't matter what kind of hardware architecture you are into; Hologram will be supported in it, as it comes with all the standard mechanisms.

- Flexible pricing helps a small-scale startup ( which we were at the beginning ) to a midsize or a Big-sized organization. The pricing plans are created in such a way, along with features like pausing services or on-demand deliveries, that it helps you to manage your expenditures in a very well fashioned manner.

- Excellant customer support has always been a delightful surprise for me personally. Whenever there has been any issue they have always helped us. Even there has been instances where some of the usecases we had required development effort from their end. That also they provided and and been there as we did the integrations. What do you dislike about Hologram?

While I absolutely love Hologram's services, there are some things that I think can be improved. Here it goes -

- Trial package is not upto mark if someone wants to just try the services before using it full fledged. They provide very less number of sim cards and data bandwidth compared to competitors.

- Internal data structure is bit complex if you're using their services, also the API's available are not very flexible. e.g - there isn't any API which gets you the data usage for a particular sim card or the fact that in order to get details of a sim you need to use linkid rather the sim number. These are just two, there are many use cases are there for which the REST services are still unavailable. Having said that, it hasn't been an issue as their customer support is great but if they improves the APIs then it will be amazing.

- Pricing is on the higher side when compared to local operators. It could have been competitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have been using Hologram's sim cards for our IoT platform. By using those, we enable our hardware devices to be able to be connected to the Cloud Server seamlessly and synchronize real-time data. What do you like best about Hologram?

The hologram global SIM cards connect to most US carriers excluding Verizon unless you are on a Cat 1 network. The pricing is easy to understand and straightforward. I like that the SIM finds a carrier on its own and does not require a lot of searching for the strongest signal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Hologram?

Hologram customer service is very difficult to get ahold of. They advertise the new eSIM solution but it's practically impossible to get them as a smaller developer. Also, the website sucks. The online shopping cart glitched out, I was unable to order Hyper SIM cards and the login during checkout does not always work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Hologram:

Plan on doing everything yourself. You won't be able to get customer service from these guys. At least the admin panel works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Hologram?

Until you escalate an issue to a level 2 resource, you tend to get substandard help that seems to be following a script. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Hologram allows us to "pre-flight" our SIM cards, so they are ready for use and have been tested by allowing a small amount of data to flow without fully activating the account.
