It's also very helpful to have access to work inboxes so we can step in if someone in on vacation or away from work. Hiver provides the functionality to manage a shared email address between multiple people directly through Google's email interface. New emails pop into the Hiver managed folders where your assigned team can all see them. It's very simple to manage the emails through assignments, comments, and tags. Google needs to buy Hiver and integrate this functionality directly into their email service. Shared email address in Google can either be managed in Google Groups, which has a terrible interface, or through Gmail by sending a copy of each message to multiple team members. In either scenario it's very difficult to manage which of your team members is responsible for the followup on a particular email. Hiver adds a layer of functionality directly into Gmail where you can assign emails to a specific team member, tag emails to categorize them, and leave comments visible to the other team members. We have cut back on double work (where multiple team members start trying to tackle the same email before realizing someone else is handling it), reduced stress (because it's easy to see the status and workflow for an email), and increased efficiency. With Hiver, we are able to maintain a remote team that is able to communicate effectively. Hiver allows us to turn email into a "ticketing system" of sorts, without having to add an additional piece of software. Being able to assign emails and communicate in the notes section makes it easy to collaborate, and also keeps all of the details about each email attached to the email so that we never have to search for information. The only downside that I've found so far is that you have to manually enable and disable auto-responders, instead of being able to schedule them like an out of office reply. We have a remote team, so we use Hiver to allow us to share an Inbox and collaborate on emails behind the scenes. We also love utilizing the drafts feature when collaborating on an email.
