## HiveMQ Reviews
  ### 1. Reliable MQTT Sessions and Outstanding App-to-App Connectivity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Konjengbam M. | BDR, Financial Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

There are so many parts I love about this platform. The best I love about this platform would be its reliable Message Queuing Telemetry Transport session. The ability for this platform to act as a connecting platform for multiple apps or programs is outstanding. This platform takes a critical role in organization by improving the connection between devices. The platform also have a user friendly interface. Other than this the documentation it provides within the platform is very helpful while using this platform.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

I love most part of this platform but I wish that the price was little bit high for smaller enterprise. Other than this the user needs to be trained for effective use of this platform.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a powerful platform enabling machines to communicate better increasing productivity of work in the organization. It literally improves the overall efficiency and effectiveness in the organization.

  ### 2. Rock-Solid Clustering and Shared Subscriptions for Total Peace of Mind

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

Honestly, the biggest win for me is just the peace of mind. The clustering is so rock-solid that we never really worry about the system crashing.

Using their shared subscriptions feature has been a total game-changer compared to our old setup.

Connecting it to our existing company logins went super smooth. It’s just a great feeling knowing our whole data stream is secure, stable, and won't buckle under pressure.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

When something does go wrong, the error messages it spits out are massive walls of text. It can be a real headache to read through and figure out what actually broke.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We struggled with massive data blind spots, but now we have a 100% reliable, real-time feed. This alone has saved our team easily 15 to 20 hours a month that we used to spend manually trying to recover lost data or figuring out what went wrong. It completely took the guesswork out of our daily operations.

  ### 3. HiveMQ Control Center: Powerful Diagnostics and Rock-Solid Broker Reliability

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blake M. | Operations Infrastructure manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

HiveMQ Control Center is one of the most useful feature. It gives my team this detailed look at individual client behaviors. For eg we could actually see which specific hardware batches were causing latency spikes. It's like a high end diagnostic dashboard that also happens to be a very solid broker. We haven't had a single missing telemetry packet since the migration and that makes our dispatchers much happier.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

In starting we actually struggled with the first cluster configuration especially around the security extension framework. It's very powerful don't get me wrong but the documentation feels a bit too technical like its written by engineers for engineers who already have a PhD in MQTT.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HiveMQ's distributed clustering has pretty much automates the whole flow. It streamlined our entire backend workflow because we can now trust the data coming off the trucks is actually reaching our microservices in real time. This consistency has allowed us to tighten our delivery windows by about 15 percent. This is huge for our client.

  ### 4. Clean, Professional MQTT Visibility for Real-Time Sensor Sync and Debugging

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kris F. | Senior IoT solutions consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

We were dealing with a specific integration where thousands of sensors on the assembly line had to sync simultaneously and most brokers we've tried just choked. With HiveMQ Control Center i can actually see the client sessions in real time which made debugging our OpenFeign client connections to the backend way less of a guessing game. It feels clean and professional. Its Extension SDK let us build a custom bridge to our legacy monitoring system without having to hack the core logic.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

We struggled with the XML based config at first because it's just so verbose. One tiny typo and the whole node refuses to join the cluster. I also wish the documentation had more real world examples for complex bridging scenarios instead of just the basic hello world stuff.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had zero visibility into why certain devices were dropping off but now the observability tools give us clear picture of our connection health. It's basically removed the bottleneck between our shop floor hardware and our cloud-based microservices. It has just made the whole edge to cloud workflow feel much more industrial.

  ### 5. Essential for Data Analysis with Great Flexibility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

I have used HiveMQ to analyze a large amount of data for personal AI tests and then use those insights to make decisions and write reports. I liked the option of running HiveMQ on my own infrastructure, which gave me plenty of control. I think $300/month was a fair price for self-hosting, and it was perfect for our test. The documentation is very helpful, and the customer support, as well as the community, are also very helpful.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

I think everything works well. The only frustrating thing is that some of the "cooler" features are locked behind the Enterprise plan, which I suppose is way more expensive than the Launch plan I used.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use HiveMQ to analyze large amounts of data and gain insights for decision-making and reporting. It solves the issue of contextualizing and analyzing vast data, making it useful.

  ### 6. HiveMQ handled our device scale easily

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luciana F. | Delivery Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

The clustering capability is what sets HiveMQ apart from everything else we tested before committing. Scaling broker nodes horizontally without any message loss or connection disruption during peak device activity is something we genuinely took for granted until we tried replicating it on an alternative platform during an evaluation. The extension SDK has also given our team the ability to build custom authentication and data transformation logic directly into the broker layer without compromising the core stability we depend on.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

Pricing conversation with the sales team takes longer than it should for teams that just want to get started quickly.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Device connectivity reliability was creating a credibility problem for our product in the market. When messages dropped or connections timed out unexpectedly the end user experience degraded in ways that were difficult to diagnose and even harder to explain to enterprise clients who had SLA expectations built into their contracts. HiveMQ removed the broker as a variable in our incident investigations entirely and that shift has had a direct impact on how confidently our engineering team can commit to uptime guarantees during sales conversations.

**Official Response from Jayashree Hegde:**

> We're glad to hear that HiveMQ's clustering capability and extension SDK have been valuable for your team. We understand the importance of scalability and reliability for your product. Thank you for sharing your feedback on the pricing conversation. We will pass it on to the team internally.

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

The broker stability at high message volumes is where HiveMQ genuinely earns its reputation. We push millions of messages daily across connected devices and the platform has not flinched once. Clustering was straightforward to configure and the reliability we have seen in production has given our engineering team a lot of confidence.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

The pricing structure can feel steep for teams that are still scaling up. Getting full access to enterprise features requires a commitment that smaller engineering teams might hesitate over. The documentation is solid but some of the more advanced configuration guides assume a level of familiarity that newer IoT developers may not have yet.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a messaging layer that could handle device communication at scale without becoming a bottleneck. HiveMQ sits at the core of our IoT architecture now and the message delivery reliability has directly improved the responsiveness of our connected product. Downtime on the broker side has essentially become a non issue since we moved over.

It is important to have the capability to receive reliably data on thousands of remote environmental monitors. It also simplifies the establishment of secure connections of new devices to an amazing extent.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

I have discovered that it is a trial and error process at first to get the QoS levels than the tuning of certain types of devices. Secondly, documentation is excellent, but there are occasions when I would have liked more code snippets to be readily available to less well-known integration patterns in our particular manufacturing process.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were facing problems to gain a coherent picture concerning operation status in real-time within our factory spread over geographically dispersed locations. After deploying HiveMQ, we currently have one, dependable stream of information across all our production lines, with which anomalies can be detected much faster, and remote changes can be made.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan P. | Solutions Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

Before we switched to HiveMQ we had a constant nightmare during daily peak hours when hundreds of thousands of vehicles in our fleet would all simultaneously reconnect. Our old broker would just choke which leads to huge data backlogs and lost real time visibility. With HiveMQ's masterless clustering architecture it's just a night and day difference. We can see millions of concurrent connections and the smart message buffering means when a vehicle drops off and reconnects moments later, we don't lose that critical engine or location telemetry.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

Logging and observability should be improved when you're troubleshooting a specific client. The Control Center UI is great for a high level overview of the cluster health and message throughput but diving into the logs to trace a particular client ID's connection history can be a bit of a manual work.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HiveMQ solved our core problem of scalable, reliable message delivery between our millions of IoT devices vehicles and our backend cloud services. Because the broker clustering actually works as advertised and it manages those tricky, high volume reconnect storms flawlessly. This directly impacts our operations.

  ### 21. Our developers can now iterate on IoT features faster

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Reham H. | Distributed Data Architect, Construction, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2025

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

The ease in which HiveMQ can be used to support an extremely broad and disparate group of IoT devices including simple sensors all the way up to complex actuators is what has been transformative in our business. We specifically like that its topic architecture is flexible enough to split the city data into according to individual department at a granular level like /traffic/sensors or /waste/bins and there is no performance penalty incurred. Our cloud data lakes work in conjunction with each other fairly seamlessly, so the data placement we need for analytics is very easy to achieve.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

The core functionality is superb, but reporting features of overall message throughput, client connections are sometimes less intuitive. A considerable amount of time is wasted in digging logs to find particular performance metrics instead of those being right out in the open. There are also some advanced configuration options which we found out to be slightly more in-depth to learn than we expected, and you will have to experiment with them.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have previously faced a lot of problems with data interoperability between the different smart city components manufactured by different suppliers. The plethora of sensors and controllers each introduced their own and unique data format and method of communication resulting in a spaghetti smattering of custom integration code. HiveMQ has eliminated this entirely by offering an unified MQTT backbone and all our devices are speaking the same language and as such have made our deployment of new city services to be much quicker.

  ### 22. From tangled data to seamless flows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anna A. | Edge Computing Architect, Industrial Automation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

HiveMQ Cloud service has been a literal savior to our small start-up. We particularly love the ease with which it is to manage client certificates which enable a secure connection to the device. The in-built monitoring dashboards are excellent as well. They allowed us to identify possible problems and bottlenecks in our IoT data streams in real time.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

I would like the documentation to have more applicable examples to particular industrial protocols. Some of the personal authentication options required time to set up and the original cost schedule was a bit disorienting. It could have been made clearer in the beginning.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our remotely deployed environmental sensors were not getting real time data. Our climate control adjustments were being slowed down by the lag. We have noticed some significant increase in the speed of data delivery since implementing HiveMQ. We are now making decisions faster, and this is much more energy efficient.

  ### 23. The dread of IoT scaling bottlenecks vanished completely

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alabi M. | Control system security architect, Renewables & Environment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

HiveMQ really excels at the intermittent device connections. We regularly deploy remote sensors in locations with poor cellular connectivity and we very seldom lose telemetry as a result of its smart buffering. Improved documentation of the API would also help to make the integration of new hardware a lot less of a pain point among our engineering staff.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

It would be nice to have more immediately accessible community wiki discussions on very specific edge cases. The final effect of some of the finer QoS choices also proved to be harder to fully comprehend than expected. The official introduction wizards are awesome but anything beyond that felt a little bit disjointed regarding custom plugin development.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we were always in battle ensuring that our deployed specialized medical devices were always patched with critical software updates. This was especially difficult in devices in remote clinics with flaky internet. HiveMQ has shifted all of this and in a reliable manner delivers updates immediately when a device is back online significantly decreasing the support overhead as well as improving patient safety.

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2025

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

HiveMQ stood out mostly for my team because of how cleanly it handled high- throughput MQTT messaging without choking. I started using HiveMQ arround 18 months ago when we hit scaling issue for our previous MQTT setup and so far we have simulated 50k clients in test and it held up fine. It's web UI makes it pretty easy to monitor what's going on. We even wrote a small plugin to filter payloads before they hit our processing system. That would have been more work with our old setup.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

One small thing, HiveMQ UI is functional but not exactly modern. If you are used to slick dashboards than its admin console will feel pretty old as compared to other modern tools.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest win has been is our peace of mind. Before HiveMQ, we were chasing down random disconnects or silent failure that nobody wants own. Now our messaging layer is mostly invisible and that's ideal for us.

The scalability of HiveMQ is amazing. It easily manages millions of clients in parallel MQTT connections in our fleet of IoTs. We adore also its solid state of high availability features as well. Our data streams are constantly undisrupted in peak loads. The inbuilt clustering leaves no downtime and this is important to us. This dependability implies that our operations are smooth at all times.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

The smaller scale projects might be a huge hurdle due to the cost. Its sophisticated setup is a little too complex to initialise. It requires a certain amount of effort to onboard new members of its team to the full possibilities of what it does. It would be much appreciated to have a simpler and easier process of setting it up when it is used simply.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our IoT connection to devices was an endless nightmare. We had constant message cuts and we had a poor data transmission problem. Our old system could not be scaled according to the number of devices increasing. Today, the backbone of messages is HiveMQ, which is very scalable and stable. Our devices are compatible with each other since they establish connections and share their data without a problem. This means that we will be in position to give out proper real time information which will go a long way in enhancing our efficiency operations wise.

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

I really like HiveMQ for its rock solid reliability and impressive scalability, which are crucial for our high-demand environment. We needed a broker that could reliably handle millions of IoT devices sending data constantly, and HiveMQ's clustering just works, providing fantastic uptime. The enterprise-grade security features are also a major plus; integrating with our existing identity management system was surprisingly straightforward and effective. This gives us confidence that our device connections are not only stable but also highly secure. Plus, the flexibility offered by their plugin system lets us integrate custom logic easily.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

Setting up the more advanced configurations and clustering for high availability can sometimes feel a bit complex, requiring a good grasp of their deployment specifics. While the core documentation is solid, digging into the nuances of certain less common enterprise features can take a bit more effort to fully understand. Also, the cost model, especially as you truly scale up and require all the enterprise features, is definitely something you need to budget for carefully. It's powerful, but that power has associated complexity and cost considerations.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem HiveMQ solves for us is providing a reliable, scalable, and secure messaging backbone for our vast network of connected devices and applications. Before HiveMQ, managing connections felt incredibly fragile – we had a patchwork of custom scripts and direct connections that were prone to failure and a nightmare to secure or scale. Now, HiveMQ serves as a central, robust hub where all our data publishers and subscribers connect safely and efficiently. This has drastically reduced the time spent troubleshooting flaky connections and security gaps, allowing our teams to actually build new features and derive value from the data, rather than just trying to keep the lights on.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

What I dislike is that the enterprise version pricing can be quite steep, especially for smaller or proof-of-concept projects that still need some advanced features. While the community edition is great for getting started, the jump to paid tiers requires a significant budget commitment. Also, configuring some of the more complex enterprise features, like advanced bridging setups, can sometimes require a deep dive into the documentation, which occasionally feels less intuitive than the core functionality.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HiveMQ solves the core problem of reliably connecting, managing, and exchanging data with potentially massive numbers of distributed IoT devices at scale. Before HiveMQ, we struggled with unstable connections, dropped messages, and building custom, fragile infrastructure to handle device communication. I like that HiveMQ gives stability to my device messaging. It is consistent, isn’t sporadic with dropping connections and works in a wide range of environments. Also, we have run it alongside our Azure services and I have enjoyed it when we tie to internal dashboards for a quick status update. It’s not something I have to constantly monitor, which means I can focus on actual business needs, rather than check message traffic.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

A frustrating thing about HiveMQ is that, some of the default metrics are very limited. I often have to pitpick around or build workarounds to get insight into basic performance patterns. That makes time to tasks that should be quicker. This sometimes slows me down from being able to quickly tell if a device is broken, correct or blew something sideways and puts additional burden on us during high work volume.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before HiveMQ, our communications with devices wasn’t really any easier, messages sometimes didn’t make it, and we had no way of knowing whether it actually was received. HiveMQ fixed that. It has already let our field devices talk and pushed updates as needed. It also contributes to reducing confusion in the support team and shortening response time when something needs the attention. Since we can trust the system to behave predictably, we have also made onboarding new devices into this system smoother.

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

The biggest positive thing about HiveMQ is that it keeps stable connections to a large number of devices. It has alleviated a lot of issues caused by message loss when working with a network of sensors that need constant interaction and we use it for that. Device authentication is also helped by the platform, which stops making our system vulnerable to unauthorised access. Reliable way to manage device connections has made it much better workflow and helped devices run exactly as they should be.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

The downside of HiveMQ is that putting in the time to properly configure HiveMQ for optimal performance is a chore. Careful planning also need to be given to setting up message queues, the definition of security policies and alteration of retention settings. The platform is powerful but it does take effort to get everything running smoothly. The other third is managing costs as usage proliferates. Scaling up can be expensive on this pricing model and has also made us careful about how we allocate resources to prevent any unnecessary expenses on this.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With HiveMQ, we do not deal with inconsistent message delivery between connected devices anymore. In the past, on occasion, we lost communication and that would throw us off grid. With the advent of our technological devices, now devices remain connected and pass information accurately so that we may hence operate smoothly. Second, we do have improved security because we can know the network to the AD of which device has a connection. This has reduced risk of unauthorized connection and data integrity has been maintained across the system.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caleb H. | Embedded Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2024

**What do you like best about HiveMQ?**

I primarily used the Edge HiveMQ solution. The HTTP interface that can be used to adjust bridge settings made configuration investigation easy. Deployment was simple, because of the JVM. The broker appears to follow MQTT protocol and was easy to integrate into our system. The support channel is quite responsive, and the history of previously asked questions saved me time. For most questions I have, search engines usually discover a high quality HiveMQ article with an answer or tutorial to answer them.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

The Edge broker is written in Java, which, with the JVM, is known to have some computational overhead. Some expected differences for Java-based programs include higher memory consumption and less performance than lower-level languages like C, C++, Golang, and Rust. In my testing and comparison of brokers, HiveMQ for the Edge did use more memory, resulting in less performance than Mosquitto (written in C) on a resource-constrained device during high message volume. It's probable that many use-cases will find this performance hit neglegible. The configuration is XML, which can be less pleasant to read and work with than JSON, or YAML.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HiveMQ provides high-quality articles for the MQTT protocol. This has helped my learning and integration of MQTT tools. I evaluated the Edge HiveMQ broker in our search for the best broker to use on the edge. There were no missing features, the tool was robust enough to meet the needs our company has.

Our cloud platforms are integrated with HiveMQ to make data handling easier and more accessible. One of the unique options is the possibility to track and control the system with the help of the intuitive dashboard.

**What do you dislike about HiveMQ?**

I still would like to mention the fact that HiveMQ might be relatively expensive in comparison to other platforms for small projects or startups. This can be a significant disadvantage for some organizations especially those that are just establishing themselves in a given market. Furthermore, the software’s stability is internally high, but outsiders may have to go through a learning curve to familiarize with MQTT protocols slowing the process slightly. These aspects have sometimes raised the issue of the cost justification and ensuing training necessary, particularly when the downturn is limited.

**What problems is HiveMQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

HiveMQ helps us meet our IoT communication requirements by providing a robust and scalable MQTT broker. This makes it easy for transfer of data from one device to the other which is very beneficial for our business.
