We were solely relying on gut instinct until we discovered Hivel's dashboards, data, and insights. We had no idea what we didn't know, and the efficiency report they presented had all of those aha moments. Some measures are new to us, yet they are useful. Engineering metrics for efficiency are very new, and it may take some time to learn how to utilize or implement them. Our engineering team relied heavily on its accurate weekly insights to track progress, see workload distribution among the team, and assess overall performance. We also reviewed our entire engineering activity—manitenance, rework, new work, unreviewed PRs, etc—in neatly visualized dashboard.
