Love the way you can add multiple rounds and exclude people that have already approved. Definitely streamlines the process. Would highly recommend to others. **What do you dislike about Hive?** I dislike the subactions since they dont show the title of the main action in the headline and this gets confusing. New system updates have helped but think this can be better. Also dont like how HIVE glitches. There will be occasions where we have to close the app and restart for chatting to update or projects to close properly. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** I think setting up a proper project system to begin works best. Next I would build out as many templates as possible to help streamline requests. The ease of clicking a template and it automatically adds your tasks is amazing. Lastly and i think this is the biggest, you need to train all your team members, every single function you want them to use, otherwise they will constantly ask you what to do or say they dont know how to use HIVE. Would suggest doing several training sessions, made 3-5 and set subjects per training session. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have streamlined our process for all projects using HIVE. We mainly use HIVE for project management and creative needs and it has helped streamline all design requests and helps make any edits very easy to handle. We know when a project is approved and know when we can move to the next step like print proofs, etc. ### 2. On a browser, the ability to mark up proofs for correction. **What do you dislike about Hive?** The app doesn't have the funtionality it has the potential to have: We'd love to be able to nest projects in the 'My actions' tab under their parent projects for a cleaner view. A tab for forms would be amazing. We're implementing Hive forms for everything from purchase requests to maintenance requests across multiple campuses, and having our users be able to pull up any form from one place on their mobile device would be hugely helpful. It'd be awesome to be able to assign messages as actions on the app in the same way as through the website. The ability to make and then see annotations made to a proof in the app would be fantastic. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** Hive is a great productivity platform. My team loves it, and it makes it simple for me to keep track of where everyone is in their workload. It also provides an easy avenue for messaging team members, and actions can be assigned straight from those communications. Hive is best utilized through a browser at this point as the app still has room for improvement. The project nesting feature is fantastic, and the ability to assign entire teams to specific projects is wonderful, I just wish the mobile app had the same capability. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's definitely streamlined the processes for our request forms (graphics, printed media, even maintenance) and project communication plans, so events and workloads are far more organized than they were before. Hive is so customizable that you'll get the most from it if you shape it to your environment, rather than just using it straight out of the box (although you can do that and have a completely delightful experience as well!). My team spent some time really thinking about how we wanted to use Hive--what structure made sense, how we calibrated tasks vs subtasks, etc.--before we started. Hive is the only tool we've found that makes our work easier instead of adding yet another layer of reporting on top. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** My team has tried many tools for managing our work (Jira/Kanban, Microsoft Project, Basecamp, etc.) and been frustrated by all of them. Hive has been a revelation for us: we can set it up to support the way we work, link to all our files and emails to streamline our work, and let us share work with each other seamlessly. Plus, the reporting has been invaluable. This is the tool that solved problems we didn't even know we had. We actually work entirely in Hive now. We use it in an academic setting to track every step of our enrollment process for students, from application, to invoicing, to communications after enrollment. Being able to chat within the same platform that we use for project management is invaluable and streamlines so much of our communications. **What do you dislike about Hive?** The one issue we have with Hive is that there isn't a master-admin role that can see everything all the members of the organization are doing in the projects they make. Each of our team members has to invite our executive to our boards. It would be helpful if there was a master admin role that could assign team members to other boards that team members have created, without that role needing to be invited themselves. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** Get your team on the same page regarding how templates should be used and when. Set up protocols for creating actions in Hive and notifying your team members about those actions. The tutorial that they offer inside of the platform is very user friendly and gets you familiarized with the product very very easily. I like that there is an application and you do not have to just use the website for managing your projects. The application is the best way to utilize HIVE. **What do you dislike about Hive?** Wish the mobile app had more uses than chat functionality. ability to recovery accidentally deleted items/messages. I wish it could integrate with office products that were not 365, like exchange. some of the zapier plugins are a little clunky and hard to keep track of. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** you won't find anything else like it anywhere! If you are looking for a product that will keep you organized and keep you on track as well as keep you motivated and collaborating with your colleagues, this is the product for you. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** Project Management, remote collaboration. Easy to get up and running. With our healthcare teams moving towards working remotely for the indefinite future, HIVE has made collaboration with outside team members very easy and not time consuming. We are developing new forms for our EHR which has been a cumbersome task, especially in gathering the data that we need after end user testing. HIVE makes this easy to collaborate with others. I love the ability to make certain reports public so we can have forward facing reports for our C-suite and board of directors ensuring that we are transparency. HIVE has many uses including the note taking capabilities. The different views are easy to use and appeal to different types of users. The colours, imagery, task cards, and Gantt chart view are easy to read, edit, and interact with. We also like that it is open source system that allows us to store large amounts of data within the system. The features are constantly upgraded and there is quick and responsive support from their customer service and support team. We also like that we are able to have a number of main subscription accounts which also have additional external users. We have mostly external users and this is a great selling point for us. It is a cost saving for us as well as it has much more on offer than the next leading software for a far better price. **What do you dislike about Hive?** The only things that we do not like about Hive is the fact that since we keep so many projects and so much detail in our projects that it can get very laggy. It will freeze up on occasion and it can be difficult to update dates if there lots of predecessors in your project. The Analytics feature is also in Beta mode still and this has quite a few bugs, however, we can see that it will be a very good tool in the future. Finally, there are some simple feature upgrades that would be good such as an "undo" button and a "indent" button. If you have used other project management software, you will know the value of these two features. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are transferring our small family-run business into a growing industry leader. Thus, it is essential that we have the right tool to move our extremely busy production schedule into a full A to Z project management system. We are avid creatives, so using a tool that allows us to chat, email, and manage products all in the same tool has really helped the team stay connected and on top of projects. Also, the time tracking abilities and extra reporting tools are robust and helpful in keeping us on top of resourcing for our team. The resourcing tab is really helpful in planning the team's schedules. Also being able to nest projects within eachother keeps our dashboard of projects neat and organized. Overall, I highly recommend their tool. **What do you dislike about Hive?** The only issue is that the application and the mobile app can be glitchy at times. I hope they invest more in its development in the future. The other challenge is that it is important to create a solid process for task management and project management prior onboarding your team to the program completely. It can be difficult to organize tasks and projects retroactively without that process. Finally, they have great budget features. It would be amazing to get include an expense option to it, so that the project budget can be completely managed in Hive. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** I would highly recommend! **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed an intuitive productivity tool that also integrates with a few different tools we use, such as gmail, chat, etc. Hive worked really well in pulling that all together. It helps me stay extremely, OCD-level, organized. It also allows for you to assign tasks or have tasks assigned to you. The email sync helps me stay on top of things when I have too many windows open to notice any communications coming in. I love that you can attach emails, google drive documents, or uploaded documents to the tasks so the assignee or myself has all they need to complete the tasks, including any communication about the task, where supporting documents live, etc. One last thing about it that is great is you the different views you can change it to. If you need to follow a deadline schedule, you can view your assignments in a calendar format. If you are working on a big team project, you can view assignments by assignee. It makes it so easy to work more efficiently! **What do you dislike about Hive?** I don't dislike anything about Hive. The only thing I would say is that I don't typically use the chat feature in Hive becuase I use google hangouts. I think it would be great if they synced the chat feature like they do the email. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** Hive is most successful when you are utlizing all the features available. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hive has made teamwork so much more efficient and kept our entire team, both individually and collectively, more organized. I feel as though it saves time as well becuase we can place all project information within the task and if used thoroughly, which cuts out some questions or meetings. ### 10. Plus we felt that Hive being a newer company is listening closer to clients requests for added functionality; new product features are rolling out what feels like weekly. **What do you dislike about Hive?** While it hasn't been an issue for us as of yet, I could see that their customer support team being in another time zone and not running 24 hours could cause delays if in response time. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** I did a lot of research into various options. Wrike, Asana, Basecamp, Slack, Trello, Monday etc. And based on the functions that I require only Wrike came close. However, Wrike was inflexible on areas such as license numbers and data/server size as well as having a customer service team that seemed to care less at working to solution to our individual needs. The in tool tutorials were helpful. I got stuck quite a bit with the last swim lane being immovable and it would let me rename it to measurement; it would always move completion back to the end. That was a bit frustrating. We found a work around, but it wasn't exactly how we wanted it. Not a deal breaker - just a slight frustration that took some time to figure out. Email integration, team and project chat, project-based action cards, time tracking, analytics, and that's just the stuff I used today. Even with all these great features the thing that stands out the most to me with Hive is the level of support they offer. I've only encountered one bug in the 8 months I've been using the platform but when I reported that bug it quickly escalated through the support channels and a hotfix was in place within a day. They kept me updated every step of the way and verified everything worked as expected after their fix. Maybe I've never worked with the right vendors before but this was amazing to watch and gave me a tremendous amount of confidence in the platform. **What do you dislike about Hive?** My one small complaint with the platform is the lebel system. Each project acts like a parent for its child action cards. So, to assign a label to a child action card, the parent must have that label assigned at its level. This probably makes sense in some fashion but the way I use the platform and labels it just means I have to sometimes go back to the parent project and assign it more labels so I can assign them to child actions. It's a minor issue and easily resolved but can sometimes be an annoyance. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** Do the legwork and compare a few project management platforms. We looked at five different platforms in depth before picking Hive. Even a lot of collaborative ones. Hive was the only one that combined all of the features that we wanted in one place, with the friendliest interface. Why is the interface important? We want team members to use project management tools for themselves. No longer is the project lead alone, stressing out over all the details. Team members all work within the same task list, expanding on their own section. Now the project leads can keep track of the schedule without all the hassle. **What do you dislike about Hive?** Hive isn't fast. Even the desktop "app" is pretty slow for what I would consider a medium size project of a few hundred tasks. The mobile app is a pretty common complaint too, but not many mobile apps have the full functionality of a desktop app and still maintain usability. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** There are lots of collaborative task services out there. Try them out. Make sure it has the features you need. I tried a whole bunch and was surprised by some basic features that other apps were lacking, like sub-tasks. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed a task system that keeps everyone on the same page. I don't want to be the Microsoft Project God, I want everyone to feel responsible for their own part of the project with a user interface easy enough for all team members to contribute. Being able to pin projects to the top toolbar, create project templates, assign actions and sub-actions to different people, track team productivity, and integrate with things like Google Drive and Slack all add up to an all-encompassing project management tool. Honestly, I would never go back. Before using Hive, I was incredibly stressed all the time, and I worried I would drop the ball on projects (and did). I don't have to have that constant nagging in the back of my mind anymore. Hive has changed my life for the better, and I am grateful for all the hard work their team has put into making this tool just what any organization needs. **What do you dislike about Hive?** I think the notification settings could be improved. Right now, if I am logged in on my desktop but in another room in the office, I may get a notification and not see it until I go back and check the log manually. It would be really nice to be able to customize which notifications send emails, which pop up on my phone or apple watch or desktop, etc. But, I just make a point to check them throughout the day and remind my team to use slack when something urgent is added to Hive. That has worked for us for now. **Recommendations to others considering Hive:** If you are on the fence about using Hive, stop wasting time and just say, "Yes." You won't regret this decision. Hive will make your team more efficient, keep you from wondering if you are missing something in your to-do list, and grow with your company. Their support team is fantastic, and the tool reflects that. As a small business, we were concerned about investing in a project management system like this, but it pays for itself every day. I am delighted to come to work knowing that projects are being completed in a more consistent and speedy fashion due to the implementation of Hive. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** Stress is the first problem Hive solved for me, but there are several others: • Lack of processes / lack of efficient processes • Diffusion of responsibility (too many people aware of the task, no one responsible for it) • Not being on the same page with my team • Needing a comprehensive to-do list across multiple projects, teams, offices • Inability to track team productivity from a single dashboard • Lack of communication on individual projects Benefits • Motivation to stay on top of tasks • The tool is simple enough that even our least-willing staff members joined and use Hive • Communication • Efficiency • Productivity • Ability to loop clients in as guest users so they can track our progress and/or create/assign/complete tasks The list goes on and on! ### 44. A single project can be viewed in a table mode, by task, stage, by flag, or in a Kanban-style. I've also found the Forms feature to be very useful in collecting input from numerous people without giving rights to directly edit tasks or projects. This enhances my control and significantly reduces cost. I also like the G-Suite integration. The ability to access email from directly within Hive ensures that Hive becomes my hub platform throughout the day. I've used Hive to get to inbox zero. Hive is also regularly adding features. Among Hive's many interesting features is the ability to build automations. For example, we setup a webform that employees can access via a hyperlink. Upon submission of the form, the data is converted to tasks within a project following a pre-established template. These tasks are then assigned automatically to staff based on tags. The web forms are quite easy to setup, inclusive of customized pull-down lists. My IT Director has been particularly happy with Hive. It was easy to setup and took little training for staff to understand it. He was an avid user of another competing project but happily made the switch due to Hive's many features. **What do you dislike about Hive?** I would like a greater ability to customize the project dashboard seen upon login. Also, we have found the reporting from Hive to be very limited. We would like to use Hive for reporting to our senior management. This requires exporting data to a spreadsheet and then significant reformatting. While Hive Analytics is a good start (and continuing to improve), it would be more useful for users to be able to report on single projects. It would also be useful if project-specific fields could be custom for a single project, rather than appearing in all projects within a workspace. **What problems is Hive solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have rolled out Hive as our core project and task management solution within our global finance and IT team.
