I like that there’s a lot of support available to people to figure out how to use Thrive.

It has amazing capabilities and when it is setup it does what we want. We like the capability to tailor both the communities and marketing to a multiple of different audiences within our membership and contact base. We find the data we can collect very useful and the training, tools and ongoing support extremely comprehensive.

It does take some time and effort to set up, so you need to set aside the time to do this. However it is very worthwhile.

Gives us much better views of our email effectiveness and helps us target our information to be much more useful. Communities allow us to provide good information to specific types of members and contacts. The investment in time to learn the system is worthwhile as you build subsequent communities. We feel we can provide much better information in a more effective and targeted way and have the data and reporting to monitor this.

**What do you like best about Higher Logic Thrive?**

We’ve been using Higher Logic Thrive at Raptor Technologies to bring our community of school safety software users together and it’s been a big value add. Our customers now have a dedicated space to start discussions, ask questions, and share ideas directly with our product team. Since launching in 2023, we’ve come a long way, and we’re excited to explore even more of the powerful features Thrive offers to maximize the value of our subscription.

What truly stands out, though, is the team behind the platform. Our dedicated contacts, Kimmie and Erin, know the product inside and out and consistently go above and beyond to support us. Whether it’s helping us grow membership, boost engagement, or brainstorm new strategies, their expertise and responsiveness make all the difference.

While we’ve encountered a few minor limitations along the way, the overall experience has been excellent. We highly recommend Higher Logic Thrive to anyone considering a community platform.

The customer support is outstanding. Whenever we have questions or run into challenges, the support team is responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to resolving issues quickly.

Some parts of the platform can feel clunky and not as intuitive as expected, especially when navigating between different functions. The biggest drawback is the lack of a standard mobile app, which feels like something that should be built in as a core feature. With more members engaging primarily through their phones, a dedicated app would make the platform much more user-friendly and accessible.

Although this is a common challenge faced by most non-profits, I suspect that, like us, cost is always a concern. However, it remains necessary in order to effectively connect with our membership.

We are able to reach more people with less effort and add the perfect visuals to compliment our mailings.

We've had IQA sync issues before and our numbers were off. It has been corrected, but it did become an issue for a while. The customer support team did work with our association to figure out and resolve the issue in a timely manner.

Kind of the same thing!  There are so many options that you really need someone focused on it much of the time to keep up with releases and know how to perform all of the options/tasks.

Thrive is creating a space for our members to speak with one another. Engagement leads to renewal, so that's our priority, along withem having a space to solve their problems and network.

The large range of support both directly from the staff including our strategic advisor and the ICT as well as online resources to self-educate and problem solve.

Higher logic is still growing its international team/market so occasionally we have to work across AU to American time zones, but the team is very accommodating and flexible making the time difference only a minor inconvenience

A place to store documents and a controlled space for our members to discuss topics that are easily moderated rather than across multiple social media pages

The Volunteer Manager product allowed us to launch our Volunteer Program broadly to our membership. We were finally able to have an open call for volunteers that allowed for a transparent volunteer application and approval process and streamlined efficiencies in our organization. We have found new volunteers that we never would have found before with our prior process. Our volunteer engagement has increased dramatically and our pipeline of leadership and volunteers is stronger than it has ever been!

The Mentor Match platform did not serve our members well. You should learn how the platform works and see if your members will be motivated to use that product by self servicing. We use Volunteer Manager for our mentoring program and that has worked really well for managing our mentor match program internally.

We did not have a Volunteer Management program across our association until we launched Volunteer Manager. This allowed us to improve our process, following best practices for volunteer management, and improved efficiencies .

The ability to have both a community and email marketing platform combine is very helpful! We need to look at our full communications cycle and by using Higher Logic Thrive you are able to capture how people are communicating on your communities and engaging in email then pull it together to give them a personalized experience. On the email automation side I also love that Thrive Marketing is robust but still easy to use. Other platforms are so robust that it's hard to do the basics but with Thrive Marketing you can do a lot through automated campaigns, engagement scoring, and audience segmenting while also being able to quickly get an email out the door.

What I like the best about Higher Logic is that the platform is built for associations. Having the neccessary tools and resources available to our team that help our society's marketing and community efforts allows us to focus on our plans without reinventing the wheel.

I've had nothing but a good experience with HL since we signed on. Set-up was a breeze. The system is very intuitive. The automation rules have saved me countless hours - no need to manually send out welcomes, thank yous, or a bunch of other simple emails. The HigherLogic User Group (HUG) has been a great resource to see what others are doing and crowdsource solutions to simple problems - and anything that's needed to be escalated with a support ticket has been resolved in a timely matter for me.

The price. HL is not an inexpensive product - especially depending on whether you want any of the add-ons. For small organizations/associations, this is a pretty significant investment.

If you can afford it, it's worth the investment. The automation rules are gold.

Higher Logic has a lot of amazing features that help build member engagement. We especially love the ability to build microsites for each of our specialty groups. Our members also love the discussion board, event calendar, member directory, and member resource library features.

One downside that I've run into is feeling like I need to contact support for items that I wish I could do myself. For example, mass updating the email preferences of our groups. I also wish the reports included more data and would go back further than a month at a time. It would be really nice to see our annual data in the reports.

I would recommend hiring either an internal or external consultant.

We utilize Higher Logic's microsite feature to create personalized websites for each of our specialty groups. Higher Logic has a lot of different widget options available to help us personalize the websites and build member engagement. We use the discussion board to allow members to stay engaged with each other and leadership, even through their emails. The member resource library allows our members to share valuable documents and resources. And the member directory gives our members the ability to find each other and connect either through the website or their own email. We use the member directory feature for mentor/mentee searches too. The ability to give our members selective admin privileges also provides our volunteers the opportunity to make edits to their own websites.

I admit I was skeptical about purchasing  Higher Logic Community because I was not sure the benefit would warrant the cost - staff convinced me to try it.  Within the first three months, I saw the value of the community, especially for the association board and committees, and began to see the potential for membership engagement.  About the same time, the pandemic hit!  The community platform was a lifeline for many of our members.  The opportunity to engage with each other on the platform was a valuable networking avenue, especially when our members were isolated and disconnected from each other.  Now that restrictions regarding work location and travel are being lifted, our members are still using the community at a high engagement rate.  The association membership has grown in the past two years. I attribute some of that growth to enhanced engagement through the community platform.

The search feature for past posts or conversations is cumbersome.

I like the Email Delivery Management set-up, integration with OneDrive/SharePoint, permalink option for posts, refineable search tool for locating specific posts, attachments, users, etc., and the professional/clean appearance of email notifications when posts are made to communities.

I dislike the Library as I do not find it efficient (it takes too many clicks to upload, move, delete items) or intuitive, especially for new users. The Folder View is cleaner than the List View from an organiational perspective, but the Folder View feels dated and clumsy all the same. Also, I don't particularly appreciate that there is no way to export whole Discussion threads.

HL Online Community has been very effective as a discussion platform and mass communication tool for the non-profit that I work for. It has not been as effective as a document storage/organization tool. I would recommend it as a communication platform but not as a primary document storage platform.

We are solving the problem of having a secure space to store documents and host discussions for specific groups of people inside and outside the office. Our Higher Logic community is helping our members connect in more specific and related ways. Members are getting more and more comfortable posting their common or rare questions as our community engagement grows. Our Higher Logic online community's setup was very straightforward. The integration and implementation teams were friendly, patient, and super supportive during its roll-out. I highly recomend taking advantage of Higher Logic's robust training academy. They offer free live instructor-led courses delivered via a Zoom meeting format-all attendees have a training sandbox environment to engage in hands-on exercises. Sandbox training helped me explore the product's capabilities and made me a confident administrator.

**What do you like best about Higher Logic Thrive?**

The automation aspects of community management are powerful. The ability to dynamically build lists based on behavior and demographics then use those to run engagement campaigns elevates the community tool above a simple forum or social networking site or listserv.

**What do you dislike about Higher Logic Thrive?**

The cost. I say that a little tongue-in-cheek, but the community product is not inexpensive. That said, you get a lot for your money, and Higher Logic isn't a company that nickels and dimes you after signing a contract.

**What problems is Higher Logic Thrive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our communities exist to bring together professional peer groups and allow them to ask and answer questions, share ideas, and exchange work samples. Our community members are not competitors, and they actively work to help each other. This was especially obvious during the early days of the pandemic when HR and finance people were helping each other understand and respond to new rules and requirements.

Although all of the resources are amazing, sometimes it can be slightly overwhelming to find exactly what I want.  When that is the case I usually reach out to our contact and they always point me in the right direction :)

Be proactive - HL is a wealth of information of how to use their software and best practice for community success.  Use their resources, attend their webinars, get involved!

There is nothing I dislike about the platform, everything functions well and it has several themes you can choose from to customize so that your platform represents your organization, your logo colors, etc.

I recommend using the platform for all of your volunteer groups (if applicable) - committees, task forces, workgroups, etc. It is very functional and the notifications (and ability to regulate the frequency) are extremely helpful as well.

We are increasing our member engagement and participation. Building deeper relationships and changing our culture to one of caring and helping, creating a more welcoming and inclusive environment across our organization.

The platform contains what we need to connect our community members in an easy-to-access, friendly way for the user, which was our ultimate goal. Tools for automating processes and creating reports are detailed and help provide the information we need behind the scenes. We've been able to personalize the feel and experience. Most of all, the support has been excellent, and we can't say enough about our key team members who led us through the process. Thank you!

If there is one thing I would change, it would be for the announcements to show up in the user's daily digest even if there is no discussion thread activity on that day.

We also have committees that need private areas to connect and do work. The online community makes it convenient for them to network and collaborate on their own time.

The customer service is fantastic! Quick responses and always helpful. Even if what I want done is not possible. I appreciated them trying. A but pricy for value but still good for what it is.

The inability to connect the volunteer portal with the online community. The document library and the new mobile app need some work. The price is high compared to competitors.

**Recommendations to others considering Higher Logic Thrive:**

I am lucky that I have a graphic designer who has been able to tailor our site in ways many cannot. I was also very lucky to have a wonderful HL implementation manager who unfortunately is no longer with the company but helped tremendously when we put the site together. It's a great product but pricey. It beats out its competitors because of the document library.

It allows our members to connect, share and network 24/7 which we never had before. It's one central area for all members to access documents and recordings. It allows members to find each other using the directory.
