The data resources and analytics are extremely helpful, and I can include surveys and instructions for students to see when they have an appointment. Many employers and universities use handshake so many grad students know of it already **What do you dislike about Handshake for Education Partners?** The most difficult thing is that it is not set up intuitively for students to use. They frequently email or call stating they have trouble making an appointment or uploading documents for review. I feel that they could be streamlined as far as verifying whether or not an employer is fraudulent. This is a process that is being updated currently and is supposed to start transitioning summer 2022, though, so I am excited for that. **What problems is Handshake for Education Partners solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to get more students in our doors because we include all of our on-campus employment on Handshake. They seemed like a legitimate business, and it wasn't until the second interview that I realized they were an MLM. There is honestly not much to like. **What do you dislike about Handshake for Education Partners?** Functionally a charade. Unnecessary, impersonal and disconnected from college and students. Complete and utter lack of local and relevant job opportunities. Reduced the quality and value of our career center to practically none. Before our college outsourced the main function of a career center, I would visit our job site numerous times a week just for the heck of it (even when I already had a job/internship). Got over 10+ interviews and/or callbacks in the span of my sophomore year. Landed two of my three internships thanks to the career center, one at the VA hospital and the other working for palm beach county. Even when I didnt get the job I was applying for, the job would likely be a responsive local company that I could reach out to to get more info. There was always a good job waiting to be applied to, alot of which were entry level positions. Now, using handshake, I might find a handful of quality jobs a year that would be worth applying to. And thats only if you have years of professional experience like myself. Experience I was only able to get thanks to the how our career center operated previously. If you are looking for more entry level positions as a student, good luck. Most of the jobs are senior level positions that you could find on any other job board, like indeed or linkedin. In fact your much better off using one of those job boards, as they are better known and likely have more opportunities then handshake would. Cannot emphasize enough the sheer lack of local and relevant entry level jobs for students. When the college made this decision, the change was night and day. Went from dozens of good job opportunities to less then 5. For months the platform was valueless, offering no local or relevant jobs . Over time, they have managed to get more jobs listings but the amount and quality is still atrocious. If your looking for a job in Washington DC, posted by a staffing firm, handshake is right for you. **What problems is Handshake for Education Partners solving and how is that benefiting you?** Note to colleges considering handshake: if it aint broke, dont break it. ### 12. As someone who is looking for a job, is easy to apply certain parameters to make sure the job is in the right location, field, etc. and the results have high fidelity as long as there are not too many parameters stacked. On the hiring side, I like being able to centralize my requirements and have all the CVs I receive in the same place. **What do you dislike about Handshake for Education Partners?** I don't like that Handshake is concentrated around graduating or current college students. Prior to Handshake, we kept track of appointments, workshops, event attendance, and career fairs in a variety of places. Handshake has allowed us to streamlines our data collection and management of student applications. **What do you dislike about Handshake for Education Partners?** Handshake does not allow universities to customize the platform, therefore it is impossible to brand it to your university. Handshake also has discontinued the mentor feature, which were about to roll-out, and replace it with a community style question and answer forum. This service would be much more beneficial if you were able to limit questions and answers to the students and alumni from your specific school. There is also no way of pulling data on drop-ins unless you contact your Handshake rep directly. We also do not utilize their first destination survey feature because it requires students to login to their account to complete the survey, therefore we use our own process. **What problems is Handshake for Education Partners solving and how is that benefiting you?** Handshake allows us to streamline student records and interactions with our office. We are able to track the number of employer, jobs posted, and application submitted by our students and alumni.
