The people. Handbid is a great company to work with. From the very top, to the sales staff, to the auction experts, to the actual staff that comes out to help at the event.

There are some seemingly easy updates that need to be made to make it more user friendly for our specific events / ticketing and registration, specifically.

Easy to figure out and set up.  Can keep it simple or intricate if wanted.

still had some bugs and issues that wouldn't work on my end up customer serivce could do.  they were super helpfull but would be nice not t have to ask sometimes.

makes checkout process much simpler - allows us better recordkeeping and the hope is to increase bid amounts.

We like the quick Auction checkout that traditional auctions do not have.

The new platform is a little more challenging for both bidders and the administrator.

Quick auction checkouts, display sheets and phone usable. The more user friendly these are the better for our staff and volunteers to use this program and make for a great event!

The Handbid sheets when printed do not allow for terms and conditions, expiration, etc. to be printed as expected.  Also font of the text is not adjustable

Loved how fast the service reps would reply to my emails. Always very kind and patient with me on what I asked. I will say we will never return to the individual bid sheets again. Our parents enjoyed bidding from their phones and told us how much they loved the "little voice" saying "Oh no" when you had been outbid! Handbid takes the work out of an auction and does everything for you.

Honestly, there are no downsides to Handbid that I can think of. We enjoyed everything Handbid had to offer.

The software itself is excellent, but the people that have been helping us and answering questions along the way is what we have appreciated most. Thank you Elise and your team.

It is difficult for the older generation or those unfamiliar with apps to understand everything they can do inside of Handbid. 

I would say the payout process took longer than expected the first time.

Many problems. We don't have to collect cash at our events, we don't have to keep paper tracking of auction items, and it is very easy for people to check out.

Not knowing how to explain to an outside user, our donor, ways to make it easier for them to donate.  Believe we all interact with technology differently. So,  would like guidance on how to explain and direct my donors more efficiently.

Loved using Handbid for mobile bidding and our guests loved bidding via their devices. Loved being able to charge and send receipts very easily.

The learning curve was steep and there are some quirks. I don't understand why there needs to be separate bidder & guest lists.

The training and customer services was a 10/10. The night itself, they answered every call I had during the late hours. I will be choosing Handbid again!

A lot of the features I needed during the event weren't enabled on the iphone and only on a computer / ipad. I believe they are working on updating their tech to do this!

We were able to check in people on our iphones! Bidding on behalf of someone through an Ipad was also a great success.

Handbid is the best. They provide a simple, easy-to-use software to administer our auction and ticketing for our fundraising events. Both using the site self-service and with the assistance of the managers and on-site support couldn't be better.

There is very little we dislike about Handbid. We find their fees to be appropriate. The site works well and we will continue to partner with them for the years to come.

Handbid helps us more efficiently administer and document our silent auction, live auction and ticketing/registration for our events. We have much better historical data to review and analyze year over year to improve our events.

Very easy to collect and close the auction and the staff was great to work with.  They really walk yiu through the process.

There is so much to like. From the easy check in of guests, to the check out and reconciliation of purchases but the #1 thing is it make us look professional.

I've been a customer of Handbids for over 3 years. They are always improving the platform. So it's hard to say what I don't like at this time.

Using Handbid for my second annual best wa seventh smoother than the first. Their upgrade to mimic my organization's colors on their app was genius. Kept or message consistent.

We like the reporting and the item templates

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

Google address lookup was an intensely frustrating and on-going  problem for our potential ticket purchasers and registered bidders. We have no idea how many people didn't continue to pursue browsing/ticket purchases because it was so difficult. It was very hard on the staff to try to troubleshoot, make purchases from the back end and not introduce errors when purchasing tickets for others. Exhausting and time consuming and potential loss of income.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

Aside from the Google Address lookup and a Caribbean cell provider blocking password reset requests, new users probably found it easier to register than those who had accounts they tried to reactivate from the two prior years. We also had people register without buying tickets but show up to the event thinking they had purchased tickets. 
We also had some phones at the event get stuck in a category and couldn't get back to the rest of the categories without closing the app and going back in. Prevented some bid placement and standup scholarship bids.  Not convenient for some of our elderly, low tech benefactors. 
Our hybrid livestream event with Virtual Asststant was great last year, but This year was far more glitchy than the last two years.  
If the school stays with Handbid next year, we will probably not do the live stream. Last minute equipment change led to very poor and slow transmission quality. No bids generated through livestream participation. 
Want to continue with Handbid but the next administration will probably streamline. Reporting is great. Support was helpful but couldn't solve all of our challenges. 
Great program if all going smoothly!

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handbid is planning to have the next update include an option to disable the Google address lookup based on our issues with many non-standard addresses. Note that our benefactors have addresses from all over the country that were affected. This was not limited to St John, USVI addresses. Fix us too late to help us this year.

Our goal was to improve the quality of addresses captured from registered users. However, we quickly realized (too late in your case) that Google does not have the best coverage for addresses in the US Virgin Islands. We have since corrected this process so that users can either opt to use Google address lookup or enter their address manually. Now that this solution is in place, we are confident your users will not have issues adding their addresses in the future. Also, as you mention, Hybrid events can be tricky if you do not have adequate internet where you are generating your livestream. We appreciate your business over the years and our team is committed to making your next event even better!

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

Ease of use internally and externally.  It was very easy to upload items. In our previous software, the items had to be uploaded more than once and on more than one platform.  It was also a good experience for our guests - the mobile view was high quality and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

*donation increment amounts - We would have preferred to be able to also add those to the mobile auction and change the way the increments were.
*reports -The CVS reports were done well and had the information that we needed, but the PDF reports were too long (took up too many pages). We would prefer to have a detailed report showing all bidder purchases but not taking one page per bidder.
*deposit after - It took longer to process the deposit from Handbid after the event than we would have liked.  The email response from Handbid after they sent the settlement report was signed took close to two weeks.

*More cost-effective solution than with previous vendors
*Ease of use internally for adding items and people
*Ease of use for bidders

The customer service is top notch, and the Handbid auction program is user friendly.

Some of the fields could be described better.  I feel like Handbid has so much to offer, and I have only used it on a minimal basis, instead of taking advantage of the opportunities it has to help our auction.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

Handbid is a great price for excellent service.  The staff makes you feel like you are a part of the Handbid family.  Our bidders for our auction enjoy using  Handbid as our online auction supplier.  I have used Handbid for 6 years and would recommend Handbid to anyone.  Great company with great people.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small Catholic school in central Illinois, and I feel Handbid allows us to reach further then our own community.  Grandparents and friends from different states have been invited to bid on items for our auction from people in our school community.  The benefits I have realized from using Handbid for the last 6 years is that it is: customer friendly, user friendly, reasonably priced, great customer service, and perfect to serve our needs.

Handbid was very userfriendly. We loved the push notification that it used. We also had customer service phone support which was very nice!

It was a little too expensive for us. We are a small non-profit and don't have almost $800 for one event.

I love the live chat feature! It was so nice to be able to interact with real people that know the software in and out. They were always happy to help with any questions I had, no matter how dumb I thought the questions may be!

The app seems outdated and hard to navigate. Our donors did not like to switch from our last service, and we had quite a bit of issues keeping bidders logged into their bidding account

Interact with the customer service when you have trouble and join the live auction talks!

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

It was my first time planning an auction, and Handbid made it so easy to set up all of the items and the presentation looked great. So many bidders gave me great feedback about how easy it was and how professional it all felt. We made more than double the amount of $ I was expecting, and I know if the app was hard, then that would not have been possible. We've already scheduled our next auction and we'll be using it again. I also loved how it manages ticket sales all in one place!

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

I can't think of anything negative. It had a learning curve like anything new, but their Help content is excellent and I figured it all out easy enough!

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped me run both silent and love auctions at the same time, enabled ticket sales and handled all transactions. It was so easy having it all in one place

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

Customer Care has been the highlight so far!  We also love that they do not charge a % of fundraising revenue.  No nickel/diming, just a low flat rate +CC Fees.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

Confusing and lackluster sponsorship app/webpage support.  Everything feels like a workaround, and main page sponsor logos are limited to a ridiculous 180x150 pixel ratio.  We are still having success selling sponsorships, but it has been the largest headache, and a section we do believe needs more work.  

GOOD NEWS their customer care team has been wonderful at accepting input and looking into possible future updates.  They have also been trying to help us BUT - it has been the most disappointing aspect so far.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

Visit their weekly auction talk on YouTube or Facebook.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy QR Code or Text to Register has been wonderful!  I was just at a luncheon yesterday, and being able to tell someone getting information is as easy as texting "Raising-Hope" to 99192 - amazing!

The price point for the software is terrific. I've also received fantastic customer support from account managers.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

This relatively simple platform is best used for silent auctions and selling event tickets. The virtual event functionality is fairly limited, but we received tremendous support from our account manager and made it work. Our on-site support has varied greatly depending on who they send. We now request our favorite staffer for all of our events, and they go very well.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

Make sure you have a clear understanding of all of your ticketing and event needs. There are many things Handbid doesn't explicitly provide but can provide workarounds for if needed, but that needs to be communicated well before your event/auction.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Handbid for our day-of event needs; checking attendees in, tracking donations, raffle tickets, the paddle raise, and attendee check-out.

As a small school with limited IT resources, we were hesitant to use an e-bidding app for our yearly Gala. Very hesitant. The team at Handbid gave us everything we needed to get started and get confident about this big step we were taking. In the end we had a successful Gala and auction, and we couldn't be happier that we "stayed the course" with Handbid.

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

Project 1.27 has been using Handbid for several years at the annual gala, but this was my first year coordinating the event. Our Silent Auction looked great on Handbid! The app looks professional and makes things easy to navigate. Photos were eye catching, link was easy to share, and item QR codes (which we used on every table poster) really helped our bidders easily find items. Bidding went smoothly, and we sold every single item in our auction!

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

Be aware that as a new Handbid organizer, the software learning curve will take some time, so give yourself plenty of it. There are a lot of moving parts. You'll want to plan extra time to watch the tutorials and videos. Book a coaching call. And definitely use the chat feature for questions. Don't try to figure it all out on your own, especially if you're under event deadlines (which we all are).

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having software that lets us track progress, easily list (or delete items), and keep great track of our bidders and revenue were just a few of problems Handbid helped us with. I had to follow up with a couple of off-site bidders after the event, and they were easy to contact thanks to the contact info they provided in Handbid.

1) It wasn't as user-friendly from the backend as I expected it to be. I also paid for the package where we could customize the site more but still didn't have as much customization as I expected or wanted. 

2) I could not 'preview' my landing page while designing it. For example, the head images required Handbid staff to change them b/c I couldn't change them on my own so there wasn't a way to view how it looked and then make revisions on my own for certain areas. The header image was particularly frustrating. It would have been easier if I could have changed those header images on my own and been able to preview it while creating it.

HandBid training was superb, but so was their availability to queries on exactly what features we wanted to employ. We were working with a team with varying degrees of digital knowledge and the customer service team was always patient and timely with their responses to our questions. A dream to set up; the import system worked like a charm.

We hit a glitch in using our own YouTube page to webcast our auction -- they just took FOREVER to clear our site for bidding -- but here again HandBid stepped in at the last minute and let us use their link to which we referred people from our own site. Not ideal, but it worked!

You may find other remote bidding systems that are "cheaper," but none that match your desired feature set, flexibility and customer service as well as HandBid. And I think we've seen them all!

We are raising money for a non profit, reaching a larger audience in a user friendly way. The system during Covid allowed us to hold our second auction without people in the room and we sold $20,000 in artwork!

Fairly responsive to requests for help. Unfortunately, they did not pick up the phone during my event when I was panicking because I couldn't check people out, but overall they were pretty good about getting back to me with answers to my questions. I think their auction item site is decent. I recently used one where the photos of the items were so small the bidders could barely see the items they were bidding on.

It's not super intuitive in a lot of ways. For example, trying to check people out was a multi-step process when it should have been easier.

The ability to support our nonprofit through a user friendly system AND make money for our organization is great! Although our auction looked different than in past years with no in person auction, the silent auction and other features allowed us to make the best of the situation and still bring in a similar amount as past years.  Having access to numerous supporting FAQs and quick responses from Handbid staff made the learning curve that much easier.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

The pain point I had was uploading all our item list for the first time from the spreadsheet we created (duplicating some items if I uploaded the document twice to capture changes to the spreadsheet)  and uploading all the item pictures seemed very tedious when we had 350+ items regardless of dragging images to the upload tool or searching for each image and uploading one at a time.  If the location of my images were set as default, I would have saved a lot of time.  Once I got the hang of it though, I know that the next time I use it it will be much easier.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem we solved was allowing access to the auction to everyone online due to COVID-19 restrictions.  This allowed individuals from outside of the city to attend our auction virtually this year and added a level of accessibility to donate to a great cause.

I like that Handbid can be used anywhere; if you're holding a virtual event, people can join from home or work! You're able to upload photos and packages in mass quantities, so there's no need to enter one package after another. Also, there's a great feature that allows you to "check-in" guests if you want your event to be exclusive.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

There are some nuances to photos, and each one has to be 800x600 to upload. Handbid will help you mass upload photos if you pay for an account manager, but if you're doing it alone, be prepared to resize all your images.

Pay for the auction manager at least your first go-around, I think it's helpful to have them for any questions you might have.

The assistance with setup helped get our site under construction.  The training and web discussions helped us learn how to use the software.  Our parents viewed it as easy.

We would like to have a more effortless transfer of item descriptions between the test and live sites.  We did not use the $200 Chat feature very effectively with my bidders.  This did not benefit us enough for the cost of the add-on.

The CHAT assistant for our dashboard and auctions were very helpful.  The Wednesday talks on YouTube were great as well.

Give it a try.  We did and will keep using it in our annual auctions.

Handbid platform is so well-organized! Many helpful features and enhancements.  I hosted an art auction at our school during covid19 and having a "paperless" super streamlined, and attractive app like Handbid was such a great find.  Cataloging the art was so easy - and it looked really nice when it was presented in final form.  I appreciated how user-friendly the app was too.  Oh, and having a URL available to guests off-site was a big plus. I absolutely appreciated having a Handbid "auction expert and coach" available to educate and train me.  Working with someone knowledgeable in the business of events and not-for-profits was such an added benefit.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

There was nothing I didn't like.  If I had to find one thing to critizice it might be the additional 3.3% processing fee to use the Puzzle feature on Handbid but I understand how this falls outside Handbid control vis a vis Stripe.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The success of our event can be attributed mainly to Handbid; guests loved how interactive the app was at our recent art show. I loved how streamlined it is (in a shop of "1" responsible for an event during covid19), and managing the checkout process was a dream!  Artists we solicited for donated items were equally pleased to hear that we were using a feature that would make their artwork "look" and "present" well to the community.

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

The manager side and customer side are both easy to learn and work well. Their staff is always quick to answer any questions or troubleshoot anything that might come up.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

There are some tiny things I had to get used like the way the site crops pictures, that can be a little frustrating. After a few years of using the site I've gotten used to it.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handbid has made it easy for us to include bidders outside of our area or those who can't attend our auction in person.

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

The receipting to donors was super easy and incorporated the FMV information manually. It was also nice that we could send reminder to all users.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

It did not integrate with our Salesforce database so we had to do a bulk upload of all the gifts.

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problems. The benefits was a successful event that exceeded our revenue goals! It was great having someone online with us for any troubleshooting the night of the event so there was little to no stress.

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

The Handbid package has everything. It's a matter of learning all of its capabilities, which are extensive. What I like BEST though is the customer service, both at the Sales level and the Tech Support level. We were against tight deadlines and Handbid's team *made sure* we succeeded.

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

I would say the intricacies of the product take time to get used to, but I guess overall that's a positive because of all the options. Just takes time to learn them all. Good amount of videos, doc and FAQs.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

We evaluated 3 other platforms and chose Handbid because of its completeness. We had complete confidence it could do what we needed, and it did. We were pleasantly surprised by the high level of customer service and tech support. There's a strong level of dedication to their customers' success. We never felt less than a big, important customer when in fact we're just a small school in NJ -- don't tell Handbid ;-)

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Handbid to raise funds for our school. It's all the more important in this time of pandemic because many of our traditional in-person fundraisers have been cancelled. Using Handbid, we were able to still "virtualize" and hold fundraisers that we wouldn't otherwise be able to do in person.

**What do you like best about Handbid?**

I really like the price point, I can't find any other product that does what Handbid does for a fraction of the price.  It is also really easy to use.  I can set up the event and hand ipads to students and they can figure it out on their own in a matter of minutes. It has a very "facebook" like feel that it is intuitive and easy to use.  They have added new interactive features that make livestreaming an event really easy since Covid

**What do you dislike about Handbid?**

I would really like to see the "event" side of registration more robust, needing to purchase guest tickets and adding customization fields like dietary restrictions or tshirt sizes would be great. I am excited to see how this links to social media but it just isn't there quite yet.

**Recommendations to others considering Handbid:**

There is nothing on the market that can do auctions, raise the paddle and other appeals as easily as handbid, it is easy to use, easy to run and above all cheap enough to not eat into your profit margin!

**What problems is Handbid solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love the ease of payment at guest check out, if their card is one file we just hit "pay" and we are all done.  I also like that I can print receipts or send invoices anytime throughout the life cycle of the event. I also like that when a donor comes up to me at the end of an event and wants to round up their total or just donate X amount of money I can make those changes on the fly.
