HackerRank is a great tool for improve coding skills and to improve our thinking and problem-solving abilities. Overall great product for learning new programming language and do coding. Its very easy to use and have great supporting team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its admin cost and user cost is more expensive. Apart from that everything is Good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

HackerRank's tests are very easy to set up, and candidates seem to enjoy using the platform. I also really like how nicely it integrates with our HR platform. Customer support is also very proactive about taking and actioning on feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Occasionally some of the wording on certain questions can be more complicated than necessary. There have been times that we've used the auto-replace feature for leaked questions, and the replaced question could end up being more difficult than what we'd really been wanting (this has been recently fixed though, so very happy to see that). HackerRank is an excellent platform for coding challenges and technical assessments. It’s easy to use, highly intuitive, and supports a wide range of programming languages, making it accessible for developers of all levels.
One standout feature is the recent addition of activity tracking, which detects when a user switches windows, resizes the screen, or engages in suspicious behavior. This enhances the integrity of assessments, making it a valuable tool for both recruiters and candidates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The distinction between input and output blocks is unclear for some candidates, making it harder to follow. Additionally, long output gets collapsed by default into a small window, which makes reviewing results inconvenient. It would be better if outputs remained fully visible by default. There are tons of inbuilt tests on multiple technologies and coding languages like C, Python, docker, Kubernetes that makes it very easy to create tests. Then there are features to create tests and send them out to the candidates. In addition, you can have a codepairing session that allows you to work together with the candidates while they perform a test and allows to share screen, this allows us to test the candidates in more complex scenerios and talk them through their approach as well.
The test results are presented in a nice format that gives me an overview of the candidate's skills as well option to go deeper. I also like the cheating detection capabilities of the platform that helps to keep out cheaters.
We use hackerrank for every interview and it helps us filter candidates that are suitable for the job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
practical questions for some of the technologies like Kafka and consul aren't easily available. Creating new tests for those aren't very straightforward. I wish there was an option to create or request those tests easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This platform is very easy to use. If you have predetermined questions by your company, it's easy to import them into the platform. There's also many language options to choose from, so candidates have access to any tool they'd like to use. I also enjoy that hackerrank has tools to detect and prevent cheating. As a candidate, you cannot copy/paste. Also once the interview is over, as an interviewer, you can see a timeline of all the changes a person did. Then you can see if anything suspicious happened. One downside is that the platform makes it difficult to make changes to existing questions. Sometimes, there's little things wrong with the question I want to ask the candidate. I want to fix it, but I have to chat with the creator of the question even though we're part of the same organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

HankerRanks wide variety of products, skills, assessments and customizability has truly transformed the way we assess our engineer candidates for the better. Their attention to detail and security allows a level of faith in the product that is unmatched and so helpful in the day and age of AI. The platform is extremely easy to use and navigate. We utilize HackerRank in some way for every position we have and we are now looking to use it for continuing education for our current employees. Implementation and integration with our products was a breeze. And on top of all that, their customer service is unmatched! Our account manager Rachael is genuinely one of the best customer reps I have ever worked with. As a company we assessed multiple platforms for developer skills assessment and HackerRank is leaps and bounds above the rest. You will not regret using HackerRank. I genuinely have no criticisms of HackerRank. The speed in which they respond to issues and update the platform accordingly allows for a continued positive experience for their clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Creating Test setup is incredibly simple with different languages support and skillset.
2. Question availability with various complexity level makes it easier for setting up test for appropriate candidates experience level.
3. Helps evaluating large number of candidates with short period of time for required skill set and knowledge.
4. Hacker Rank support team is helping with appropriate response for any skill set question availability.
5. Plagiarism detection is a very good feature for selecting appropriate candidate.
6. Test result report and candidate/question insights are very helpful feature for optimizing the test.
7. Overall, Hacker Rank helps recruitment process streamlined and making it faster for onboarding suitable candidates Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Availability of question set for certain skill set is limited (like iOS skills)
2. MCQ test is quicker way for evaluating internal resources. So having more number of MCQ question set would help for setting up test with random question set presentation.
3. Coding Test might also include some easiest complexity test for entry level candidates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We need a variety of coding problems and questions for each of our engineering levels and skill personas. HackerRank provides a library of coding problems that we can easily create offline exams to our candidates. We also use HackerRank whiteboarding and collaboration platform during interviews so that we can observe candidates' coding and problem-solving skills in a live session. HackerRank integrates well with our HR recruiting tools making it easy for us to leave feedback and access the interview results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We find root-cause analysis and debugging assessments difficult using HackerRank. Refactoring and optimizing code is a critical skill that we look for and we don't see many problems in the area of design patterns, architecture, and code performance. We wish we could use examination problems (i.e. coding, multiple choice) for live whiteboarding interviews (populate the whiteboard interview template with HackerRank library of problems) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the flexibility in the platform: the ability to define your own engineering projects with custom environment and custom scoring scripts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think there is a gap in the offering for machine learning engineers: it would be great to be able to define backend engineer project with an environment that has Docker installed.
I tried using a generic environmnet and installing Docker but faced some authorisations issues.
The DevOps question type has docker but it is not a flexible as the engineer projects and not as easy to set up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI is clean, easy-to-understand. Never encountered any bug while using it, which is very important. There are lots of programming languages to choose from, which is important since we allow interviewees to choose the language they want to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing specific I can think of, it's the best platform I've used for interviewing people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
