"Seamless, User-Friendly Payroll Platform—A Definite Winner for New Companies"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto is user-friendly for both employers and employees. The account setup feels seamless and straightforward. From an employer standpoint, the platform is easy to navigate and use. An AI-assisted tool would be a big improvement compared to reading through pages and pages of “self help,” especially if you’re a new user rather than someone who’s already familiar with the platform. That said, I’ve noticed this has now been incorporated—love the additions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

For more advanced payroll users, the functionality feels quite basic. I’d strongly recommend offering tutorials instead of relying mainly on the FAQ pages, as that would make it easier to learn and keep up. Alternatively, adding an AI tool could also help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Setup, Great Value, and a Big Boost for Payroll & Compliance"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

The ease of use and set up is very user friendly. The price point is great and they seem to be contiunually improving the software. Our team loves it and I enjoy how easy it has made payroll and compliance. One feature that is really helpful is I can access it through the app on my phone for my admin role or my employee role. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I do wish I had the ability to be more customized on time off policies and able to assign more than one time off policy to employees. for instance sometime team members are awarded additional time off instead of a bonus. There have beem instances where I still had to track time off manually because of only one policy limitations and awarded time off wil carry over where our regular PTO policy does not. "Clean, Intuitive Payroll That Saves Time—Backed by Excellent Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto has one of the easiest payroll platforms I’ve used. The interface is clean and intuitive, making it simple to onboard employees, run payroll, manage benefits, and keep everything organized. Their customer support has also been excellent—responsive, knowledgeable, and quick to help whenever we’ve had questions. Overall, it saves us a lot of administrative time and makes payroll much less stressful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Honestly, I haven’t come across any major issues. The platform has been reliable, easy to use, and has met our payroll and HR needs well so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Onboarding and Contractor Payments With Helpful Reports"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto has a multitude of various functions that help a business. We use it primarily for paying our contractors and storing documents. It allows our Human Resource department to streamline onboarding paperwork and getting new hires payroll and direct deposits set-up. We have been using it for a few years now and for the price and what it offers, we are satisfied with the performance and overall ease of use. The reports are helpful as well, we use these monthly to reconcile payments to our contractors, both in the US and other countries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

The only downside that we have found is that we would love for our contractors to be able to clock the time for their projects and invoice directly in Gusto. This would allow better project management and make profit and loss on a project much easier. The clocking option is only available for employees, unfortunately. "Effortless Automated Payroll, but Limited Customization and Hard-to-Reach Support"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto’s automated payroll and self-service onboarding have made managing administrative tasks virtually effortless. The "set-it-and-forget-it" payroll seamlessly handles state and local tax filings, while the contractor self-onboarding portal keeps sensitive direct deposit and tax information organized without endless email chains. My favorite feature is the automatic sync with accounting software, which keeps bookkeeping perfectly aligned after every pay run. As an added bonus, former contractors retain permanent access to their own tax documents, saving me from a flood of W-2 and 1099 requests every tax season. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

While Gusto handles standard payroll well, it becomes frustrating when you need to resolve complex issues or customize workflows. Reaching live customer support can be difficult, as you often have to navigate automated chatbots before getting to a human representative, which is stressful during time-sensitive tax or payroll errors. Additionally, the platform lacks advanced custom reporting options, and pricing can escalate quickly as base fees and per-contractor or per-employee costs add up as your team grows. "Gusto Payroll & HR Platform -Best Fit for Small Businesses and Compliance Effortless in One Platform"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

Here's what stands out as most helpful about Gusto:

All-in-one platform — Gusto handles employee payroll and benefits administration from a single interface while syncing with third-party time tracking and hiring software, cutting down on double data entry and reducing errors.

Easy to use — Gusto's payroll services have a minimal learning curve, making it easy for HR teams to manage payroll, and even the base plan can manage complex calculations like wage garnishments, holiday pay, and tip credits. Reviewers consistently call it the ease-of-use benchmark in the category.

Automated tax filing & compliance — The AutoPilot system runs payroll processing automatically and calculates local and federal taxes in every state, so you don't have to manually track tax code changes.

Built-in benefits administration — You can offer health benefits for your team, administer workers' compensation, and integrate 401(k) plans, plus take advantage of optional add-ons for HSAs, FSAs, and commuter benefits.

Employee self-service — Workers use the mobile app to check direct deposit details, view benefits, or download tax forms anytime, which cuts down on routine HR questions.

Strong integrations — Gusto offers 650+ integrations, transparent pricing with no contracts, and digital onboarding on every plan.

Best fit: US-based businesses with 5-100 employees wanting a single system for payroll, digital onboarding, and benefits without enterprise HR depth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Gusto is a poor fit for businesses above 100-150 employees, those needing 24/7 support (it's M-F 8am-8pm ET only), and companies with international full-time employees — plus some customer service reviews call support slow and unhelpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Smooth Transition from Our PEO to Gusto"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

We recently transitioned to Gusto after six years with a PEO, and the experience has been outstanding. The implementation process was smooth, organized, and efficient from start to finish. The onboarding specialists were incredibly helpful and saved me a significant amount of manual work throughout the transition. The platform itself is intuitive, easy to navigate, and provides an excellent user experience for both administrators and employees. We're very glad we made the switch. "Effortless Payroll Management with Gusto as a First Time Hiring Business"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

I really appreciate how Gusto made everything easy for me, especially as someone who has never hired employees or run payroll before. The platform is very intuitive, and I was able to do everything on my own. I don't have to worry about anything since my employees can clock in their hours, and everything else is handled for me. I also like that Gusto is clear and clean, and I can manage it from my phone. The scheduling feature is great as well because I can communicate schedules with my employees without needing to text or email them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing product, worth the investment!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

The UI is very intuitive. I’ve never had any trouble figuring out where to find things, which makes everything feel straightforward and easy to use. I’ve also noticed that the performance is excellent—there’s never been any lag or other issues on my end. Support has been great as well, and I haven’t run into any problems when I’ve needed help. Overall, it’s a great product for this price point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I don’t have many issues with Gusto, but one improvement would be clearer UI guidance on when pay periods are. Additionally, having more information about taxes would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Compliant Payroll with Helpful Integrations and Self-Onboarding"
5/5
What do you like best about Gusto?

I like the simplicity of the software. We're using the lowest priced plan and it is sufficient for our small business to stay compliant and run our payrolls professionally. The app integrations and employee self-onboarding also takes some of the workload off our hands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I don't like the weekly tasks reminders too much, because it leads to too many emails. Some of the task reminders are very helpful and necessary to run payroll smoothly. However, some of the tasks (e.g. setting up 401k, health insurance) seem like they're simply cross sells. If Gusto can use AI to determine if our business truly requires some of those tasks and flag them as required, it will help us decide when to act on them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
