**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I find the customer service chat feature pretty helpful. Whenever I have an issue, I use the chat, like when I made an error running payroll, and I got connected with an agent who provided concrete steps to fix it. I also appreciate the payroll reminders since I'm a busy business owner and parent, and I don't have the payroll calendar memorized, so those reminders are crucial and I integrated them into my calendar. Additionally, I find the system user-friendly, making it easy to change things.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There's one feature where you can run same day payroll and pay a fee to do so. However, you can only do that for an amount of under $10,000. It would be helpful if you could do that for a larger amount.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto helps with payroll management and monitoring employee benefits, handles different pay rates, and provides helpful customer service chat for resolving issues. It's easy to change system settings and offers payroll reminders, crucial for my busy schedule.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I like best about Gusto is how it brings payroll, HR, benefits administration, and employee management together in a single, easy-to-use platform. The user interface is intuitive and well-designed, making it simple for both administrators and employees to navigate payroll, benefits enrollment, PTO tracking, tax documents, and employee records without extensive training.

Gusto has significantly improved our operational efficiency by automating payroll processing, tax filings, direct deposits, and compliance updates. What used to require multiple systems and manual processes can now be completed in a fraction of the time, reducing errors and allowing our team to focus on more strategic initiatives. The onboarding experience is especially impressive, with digital offer letters, e-signatures, self-service employee setup, and automated document collection creating a seamless experience for new hires.

We also value Gusto's integrations with other business tools, which help keep employee and payroll data synchronized across our systems. The platform performs reliably, provides clear reporting and analytics, and gives us easy access to payroll and workforce insights when we need them.

From a return-on-investment perspective, Gusto has delivered tremendous value by reducing administrative overhead, minimizing compliance risks, and improving the overall employee experience. Their support team has been responsive and knowledgeable whenever questions arise, and the implementation process was straightforward. **What do you dislike about Gusto?**

There is very little to dislike about Gusto, but there are a few areas where the platform could improve. Some of the more advanced reporting and customization options can feel somewhat limited for organizations with complex payroll or HR needs. While Gusto integrates with many popular business applications, there are occasional cases where additional integrations or deeper customization would be helpful.

As the platform continues to add new features, certain settings and workflows can sometimes take a few clicks to locate, particularly for administrators who don't use those functions regularly. Additionally, larger organizations with unique HR processes may find some advanced workforce management capabilities less robust than specialized enterprise HR platforms.

That said, these limitations have been relatively minor compared to the value Gusto provides. The platform remains highly reliable, user-friendly, and efficient, and the benefits of streamlined payroll, onboarding, compliance management, and employee self-service far outweigh any areas where additional functionality could be added. Overall, Gusto continues to be one of the best HR and payroll solutions we've used.

Before implementing Gusto, many HR and payroll tasks required significant manual effort, including employee onboarding, payroll processing, tax management, benefits administration, and maintaining employee records across multiple systems. As our organization grew, these processes became increasingly time-consuming and created opportunities for errors and compliance challenges.

Gusto has helped solve these issues by centralizing payroll, HR, benefits, and employee management into a single platform. Automated payroll runs, tax filings, compliance updates, and employee self-service tools have dramatically reduced administrative workload and improved accuracy. The onboarding process is now streamlined through digital offer letters, e-signatures, and automated document collection, allowing new hires to become productive more quickly.

The platform's reporting and workforce insights also provide greater visibility into payroll and employee data, helping us make more informed decisions. Additionally, Gusto's growing use of AI and intelligent automation helps simplify administrative tasks, surface important information, reduce manual data entry, and guide users through complex HR and payroll processes.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I work for a small architectural firm and do everything that isn't architecture, so I wear a lot of hats and my time is at a premium. Having an intuitive interface makes running payroll and meeting all the federal and state tax requirements and filings very easy and stress free. The easy to use drag and drop interface make an intimidating process very simple for the non-HR professional.  I've been using the software for 4 years and have yet to run into any major issues with performance or speed.  The support has been excellent.  Generally, my issues are addressed with one call.  We don't currently use any of the integrations as the size of our firm doesn't really make it necessary.  The time using Gusto to run our payroll more than justifies the price and I think for the level of service and support we receive it is a great value for our firm. We have no plans to look for another payroll solution.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One issue I have run into is lack of knowledge about our state tax requirements as they pertain to our principal who is the sole shareholder of the S Corp.  The first line support staff have not been able to address the problem we're having and I haven't been able to communicate directly with the second tier support staff.  It has resulted in incorrect filing and payment of one our state's taxes so I've had to request a refund of overpayments each year.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I did not work for the firm prior to Gusto being implemented but having done payroll for my own business previously, I can attest to the fact that Gusto makes it very simple to do things quickly and efficiently.   Currently, we just use it to manage personnel and payroll but are looking at some of the integrations with benefits management for the future.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I use Gusto to receive my pay from my job, and I find that it makes my paycheck details more accessible and easier to find. What I like most about Gusto is being able to track my pay, as it lets me know when I'm getting paid and helps me budget with each paycheck. I also love the feature that allows me to review my hours before submitting them to ensure I am not missing any hours I worked. The initial setup was really easy; my job sent me a link to the website, and the prompts made creating an account super simple. I also noticed a feature for tracking expenses recently, which seems very beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The app looks a little different from the website as expected. It does make it a little bit harder to navigate.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto makes my paycheck details accessible and easy to find, lets me track my pay for budgeting, and ensures all my work hours are accounted for before submitting.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Gusto’s interface is very clean and organized intuitively. I especially like the Calendar tab and how it brings events and other companywide events together in one place. Gusto is very affordable relative to other HR websites like Asana, and I think it performs the same functions other HR platforms offer in an even more streamlined way. There aren't unecessary features on the website, and teh calendar tab is actually useful for managing work and life demands. The onboarding process was very easy, especially when it came to signing documents and setting up my payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Gusto's AI features are not clearly useful to the type of work I do, and I think more guidance on how AI features should be used may improve my ability to use them. I also think the interface can be slightly too plain at times.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto is helpful for onboarding new team members and standardizing financial communications to the team. I have never had problems with direct deposits or managing paydays. Gusto is efficient, reliable, and integrates easily with bank accounts and other websites.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

What I experience with Gusto's automated tax filing and compliance engine incredibly reliable, as it handles the heavy lifting of local and federal tax reporting, significantly lowering our risk of filing errors. I appreciate the self-service employee portal which provides a major benefit, allowing our team to access their own pay stubs, update tax information, and manage benefits elections without needing to email HR for every small change. This tool has made our HR tasks easier, allowing us to focus on growth instead of back-office compliance. The system is so intuitive that we rarely have to consult support, and its ability to integrate time tracking directly into payroll reduces the time spent manually reconciling hours. Getting up and running was remarkably smooth thanks to a clearly structured implementation guide that walked us through the migration of text documents and employee data step by step. Having our initial payroll run fully configured and tested in less than a week was impressive, and the system's ability to self-onboard employees saved us from spending hours on manual data entry.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Things that not working really great for us is for the reporting that for advanced workforce analytic. Because I think it is somewhat limited for our growing needs. While the standard payroll and tax report are excellent, if I want to run complex, multivariable cost modeling scenario, like analyzing total compensation trend across different departments over a three-year period, I have to export the data into third-party BI tools to get the level of details I'm looking for. It would be a huge improvement if they can introduce a more robust custom report builder that allows us to create deeper multidimensional queries directly within the dashboard.

Gusto automates payroll cycle, manages tax withholdings, and benefits in a unified interface. It reduces payroll administration errors, frees HR from compliance tasks, and streamlines tax reporting and compliance with a self-service portal.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I enjoy that Gusto is a full-featured HRIS platform for our small business.  We are able to run payroll, post jobs, hire, manage forms, and complete full scale HR functions from within a very tidy platform.  Gusto support is very helpful when topics arise that we're unsure of and are always available to help with tax forms, notices, and more.  Our employees enjoy the ease of use and find the expense reimbursement platform to be very simple.  Gusto integrates with our QuickBooks online so posting transactions is a breeze.  The system uptime is fantastic and we have rarely had any issues completing tasks.  We feel that the pricing is very fair and have saved considerably over the prior platform that we were using; all while gaining many more features.  The AI platform continues to evolve and is a helpful way to tackle simpler questions and needs.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

We have no complaints!  The system is really powerful and we have been very happy with it over the past three years with no interest in moving to a new platform.

I know they are continuing to evolve the AI functions which is great in the world we live in today.  The functionality has already come a long way from when it was first rolled out.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

There are multiple ways to track your work hours. I personally prefer entering my time at the end of the day and filling in the hours I worked, but you can also use the time-tracking option: you press start when you begin working and stop when you’re done.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I don’t really have any stand-out downsides to Gusto. The only issue I’ve run into was getting locked out of my time tracking before I’d finished entering everything for the week. However, Gusto does send email reminders about it, so that one was on me.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gusto puts everything I need as an employee in one place. My hour logs are automatically processed, and it uses my hourly wage to send my paycheck, which feels super easy, secure, and straightforward.

It is very seamless across all aspects of what our business uses it for, from hiring, to PTO, to time tracking and payroll.

There have been a few times where I've run into an issue that was difficult, or not possible, to solve unless I did live chat. Overall I have been able to figure the platform out on my own but I could see it taking some time if you were someone who wasn't tech savvy. I also with Gusto administered Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements.

I really appreciate the seamless layout of Gusto, which is easy to navigate and offers tools to help manage paychecks and payroll. It's a fast and easy-to-learn app. I like that my employees can get paid 2 days early and have the option to split up their checks for vacation and emergencies. As a new business owner, Gusto makes it super easy for me. The initial setup was as simple as it gets.

The set up was a no brainer, it was very easy and the support/onboarding service received was wonderful, Oscar Fuentes was very helpful and walked me through the whole set up process. The price of my plan is very affordable even for a solo S-corp like mine. It is a very user friendly platform, so no need to be a techie. I am new to Gusto but already loving it!

I am running payroll by myself, for myself and have not done this before. Oscar from support answered all my questions very patiently and explained to me the requirements to satisfy what running a payroll means. This was a huge help for me. The automation feature is great, I can set it and forget it, this avoids me going into my account bimonthly and doing owner draws. In addition, my experience with some a company that ran payroll for me was not satisfactory, with Gusto I don't anticipate any headaches or loss of time trying to contact the company running the payroll for any reason.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

Handling payroll was once a monthly hassle, but now it's a 10-minute hassle with Gusto. So the automatic filing and payments of taxes is a lifesaver; I don't have to spend hours double checking on deadlines or worry about penalties. Another bonus: the employee onboarding feature allows new hires to fill out all their paperwork online, with their information seamlessly transferring over to payroll.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

The pricing structure is a little hard to negotiate, some of the features we would want, such as advanced HR tools, are only available on more expensive plans that offer features that we don't need.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Payroll was a myriad of spreadsheets, manual tax calculations, and missed deadlines. Now, from deduction calculations to quarterly taxes, it happens all on its own and I never miss a beat because of the reminders. An example of this would be last year I had to spend a whole weekend getting the W-2s and 1099s squared away, this year Gusto did it all for me in an hour or so.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

I really like how easy Gusto is to navigate for adding hours, accessing benefits, and tracking expenses. Everything feels very intuitive, and thanks to Gusto I’m now able to receive insurance through my employer.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

One downside for me is that some of the time-tracking features can be tricky to use in the app. When I scroll to the time I want, it sometimes reverts back to the current input time. That can be frustrating, and it often takes a few attempts to correct it and get it right. I also get logged out of my daily timesheet and lose my work if I navigate away from the page at all. This is especially challenging when I need to check calendars, task lists, etc. to recall the day’s events. I would love to see an area on the time tracking directly where someone can use their vacation or sick time instead of having to request it. That would be a great feature!

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Everything I mentioned above still applies. Having everything in one platform is extremely helpful for me as an employee. I’m not limited to just a clock-in/clock-out system; I also have space to add notes about the day’s accomplishments, request time off, and correct any mistakes that were previously made. I really enjoy how easily I’m able to access everything, including my W-2, benefits, and more.

I use Gusto for payroll and to administer benefits and pay out PTO. It solves payroll and tax compliance issues, and it's a total life saver. I love how Gusto keeps things super easy to implement and easy to find, with really great customer service. It's very easy to use, easy to see, and easy to handle. I don't have to wait months for documents. Also, the initial setup of Gusto was very easy. I have used it at probably four companies, ranging from 10 to 250 or more employees or contractors. I enthusiastically rate it a 10 for its excellence in payroll and compliance.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

Customer service sometimes can be hit or miss. I do wish they could compete on the HR side more with like BambooHR so we didn't have to use two systems.

**What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Gusto for payroll, benefits, and PTO. It solves payroll and tax compliance issues, making it a total life saver. Gusto is very easy to use, with quick access to documents, and I give it a 10 for payroll and compliance.

**What do you like best about Gusto?**

It's very easy to track hours as you work and to log them after a shift. I generally track my hours as I go and then leave a comment for my employer about the project I was working on. The program always runs smoothly and it was very easy to set up. I've never used any extra integrations or AI features, and likely will not need them in the future.

**What do you dislike about Gusto?**

I wish I could view my hours logged over a specified timeframe rather than just week by week. Reporting on specific grants isn’t easy. We treat different grants as “jobs” within Gusto, but I’ve found that “jobs” isn’t available as a reportable field in the reports I want to run.

Before Gusto, we submitted timesheets to our accountant, who then entered everything into their QuickBooks payroll system. Any corrections were a pain to deal with. I just cannot get enough of the fact that all of the complex tax filings are done in the background and seamlessly. It's awesome when you're onboarding new employees; they can create their own profile and direct deposit in seconds with the self-service portal.

Customer support is incredibly slow - sometimes takes days for response which delays our entire operation when we have urgent payroll errors. Reporting is very restricted and I have to export raw data to a spreadsheet to obtain any analytics of value.

I use Gusto mainly to log my work hours, record my work-related expenses, and direct deposit. It solves the problem of not having to go to the bank to deposit a check and deal with different platforms for different things, especially expenses. Gusto has a very clean UI which solves the complexity issue. I love how simple expense tracking is; it makes life so much easier to just snap a receipt and upload. The initial setup was very easy, and I loved the auto emails and reminders. Everything from a UI and UX aspect was spot on. I cannot say anything negative.

I do not like how I am only able to link one bank account. It would have been nice to have the option to link many bank accounts and automatically split my paycheck.

I like Gusto overall, but there are a few downsides. I find their website harder to navigate than it should be—even as someone who’s tech-savvy, it can take too long to find basic information. While they offer strong referral incentives, they’re not always implemented as advertised. Customer service is also difficult to access online, and I’ve had situations where multiple reps reached out at once and marked an issue as resolved before I could respond, which feels overwhelming and doesn’t actually fix the problem.

I was pretty excited to see the April integration with taxes. Even though it still has a few kinks to work out—especially around web browser functionality—it’s great to see it integrated. I also really like the one-stop-shop aspect. Overall, I like the complete package of Gusto, including how seamlessly it lets you split checks. From my perspective as an employee, it was also really easy to sign up and get everything sorted out.

The April tax integration can be difficult to navigate, especially when moving between different sections of the tax form. It’s not always easy to tell where you left off, and once it’s submitted, it can be hard to follow up or track what happens next.

I love how easy Gusto is to use and how intuitive it is. It’s really user-friendly, and I have really enjoyed that about it. The payroll trends feature is great for helping us with projections, and it's pretty self-explanatory, making it easy to use even for team members who struggle with technology. During our onboarding and payroll setup, the Gusto team was really helpful and responsive, ensuring everything was set up quickly and successfully. I like that Gusto gives you accountability by sending reminders as an admin, making sure you don’t forget anything and keeping everything on track. The report feature is also something I like as it helps our CFO with projections and financial models.

Sometimes when there are issues that need to be fixed, we have a hard time getting a hold of someone to help us. So that's been the main thing. It's just the response when we need support quickly. That's really all.

As we've added more employees, the per-person pricing adds up faster than I expected. It's great at a small size but gets pricier as you scale.

As we've hired across different states, Gusto handles the multi-state tax registration and compliance automatically. That's a problem we simply couldn't have solved ourselves without hiring a dedicated HR person.
