1)  Highly declarative product model, it lets insurer define coverage, forms, ratings easily and is reusable.
2) UI and experience is very good. Its customized for different user roles.
3) Built-in workflows for quote, binding, endorsement, cancellations.

1) Sometimes become complicated for implementation.
2)  Cost and TCO is quiet high.

My company implemented it for one of the larger insurance company in UK and project is currently in BAU stage. This has helped client in  reduce manual processing of quotes. Also helped in quiet quicker new product launches. PRoduct being market standard, it was helpful to reduce headache for regulatory and auditing.

Guidewire PolicyCenter greatly simplifies the process for insurers to collect customer information and deliver fast, accurate quotes. It streamlines the workflow, making it much easier for insurers to serve their clients efficiently.

In my line of work, I deal with PAS and Claims systems from multiple vendors. I can confidently say that when it comes to Out of the box business  features, ability to customize ,  integration capabilities , market place vendors, developer tooling support, Guidewire PC is miles ahead of the competition.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

I cant think of anything, but  If I have to pick one thing , that would be more availability of prebuilt integration apps that can be used directly by the customer.

**What problems is Guidewire PolicyCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Guidewire PC ( on Guidewire cloud) is helping insurance carriers with faster go to market with innovative features. Each ski update has hosts of new features.

This is the best tool for quoting the P&C commercial policies having large exposure.
It is linked with several sites which have huge database and this is auto flooded for that particular location, vehicles, driver information.

As it is cloud based so sometime it lag when multiple information keyed in it

Strong and intelligent data model design. Good integration mechanism with CC,BC, CM and also with the external systems.
Like the rating engine design, product model and underwriting issues designs. They are intellectual property of Guidewire.
Guidewire core has a very good caching solution that make difference with other software and make the stability of the performance for the system.
Branch (policy period) versioning is the key success of GWPC that resolved the very complex problem of the legacy policy system.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

UWI is packed in a unreadable format that caused the difficulty for development and keep track of history code . Why it is not xml format like rating engine?

CM is the good design of GW but I saw a lot of problem relevant to the integration with this. Having a lot of clients dont use or see CM useful. I would suggest GW review a solution to sync contact PC, BC, CC without CM. That will suitable and reduce the work for some small clients who dont need CM.

I coukd have a lot of suggestions but need time to write out :)

**What do you like best about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

PolicyCenter provides a smoother flow while processing a submission.  There are fewer avenues and it is more straightforward. I love how everything is integrated into the same window.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

It still looks like it is from the last decade.  I also think it is weird that the billing setup opens in a new screen and warns you that you might lose unsaved work.  The billing screen also seems to have too many required and unnecessary buttons to click.  You cannot open more than one screen at once.  The software runs very slow and just about everything you click on causes a page refresh.

**Recommendations to others considering Guidewire PolicyCenter:**

Make sure to have a sandbox version and practice, practice, practice before going live. You need to be very familiar and work out the bugs before you use it with actual client policies.

The application consumes more amount of ram and the main backlog is that it is not an opensource if we want to learn something it will be difficult we cant browse and cant find the content any where.

It has html 5 Upgrade done in guidewire. It is best insurance product for property and casualty lines of business.
Various applications can be integrated very easily with Guidewire  especially duckcreek

Html 5 sometimes can be slow to pull the rendering of the data.

Too slow to load. Takes time to Boot up and you need to restart the server after making configuration changes.

Guidewire policy admin system is a Java based business solution, that helps P&C business owners to develop high quality policy admin web applications, in a very short span of time.
As it is Java based, it's very easy to configure, extend, and has top notch user interface capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

Below are few points, where Guidewire can improve itself, with respect to other contenders of the same league, such as Duck Creek:
1. Decoupling of Architecture.
2. Extendibility of features, code versions, etc.
3. Rating Engine.
4. Forms Engine.
5. Cost effectiveness.
6. Cloud based offerings are less. There are very few components in Guidewire, which operates in. SaaS model.

**Recommendations to others considering Guidewire PolicyCenter:**

If the focus is majorly on user interface, then Guidewire can be a good option. Best combination I can suggest is, using Guidewire as a front end (obviously because of its top notch UI capabilities), and integrating it with another robust PAS for back-end, like Duck creek policy.

Guidewire (frontend) and Duck creek policy (backend/business layer) PAS is the mostly used combination in the P&C market on today's date.

**What problems is Guidewire PolicyCenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. As Guidewire Policy is a Java based business solution, the best advantage is, there is top notch user interface configurational capabilities. UI is truly an aspect where Guidewire leads the race.
2. As it's a very lightweight design, we have done many performance improvements using it.
3. PAS user and entity management.
4. Integration with other 3rd party systems.

I like the easy left-side navigation that they have now matched for personal and commercial lines policies. The screen flow also parallels sales and service call flows reasonably well.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

I'm not too fond of the administrative tab. It does not allow the administrator to remove renewals that somebody already handled, update the office address that shows up on documents, or even delete old employees that were deactivated by the carrier. 
Another concern is the glitchiness of the system. Any update causes the system to shut down, not process changes properly, or otherwise just move very slowly.

We use PolicyCenter since Nationwide phased out their VPN system which uses Client Management. PolicyCenter offers a web-based solution with easier navigation options.

When working correctly without any system glitches, Guidewire Policy Centre will work out the costs of policies for the staff. This makes our role a little easier when creating a quote, change or new policy.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

At times the system will glitch and error messages that should appear when making policy changes won't appear. 

This can lead to confusion and unintentional mistakes.

Solving quotations - price breakdowns which are automatically worked out for you. This is the biggest advantage tool for myself who works within a Car Insurance Customer Contact Representative role.

Has all of the core functionality available Out of the box, and is customisable as  per clients needs.

Upgrades are complex if there is a lot of customisation

**Recommendations to others considering Guidewire PolicyCenter:**

Consider buying the software with the standard based templates (SBT) . This will avoid lot of development effort in future as SBT keeps updating in accordance with ISO and ERC. I recommend Policy Center over other  insurance software

Helps in replacing legacy and mainframe systems with one central policy management software, and lets insurance companies concentrate on their core businesss. ALso guidewire provides standard based templates which are in accordance with ISO and ERC .

The UI of PolicyCenter provides easy to use functionality and is definitely highly customizable.

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

Where do i start.. you have to hire developers and train them in a proprietary language called Gosu... which is an absolute nightmare to learn. It’s some sort of hybrid of java..

You can customize a lot of the functionality but beware that Guidewire has put a lot of it on lockdown, making it harder to customize..

A lot of the functions aren’t very user intuitive and require lots of training to get adjusted to.

PolicyCenter is one of our core programs of the company, and is used to create, and manage workers compensation policies.

It’s a user friendly interface with a lot of options for agents and underwriters. Much better than a lot of other options out there.

As a developer, the gosu language is poorly documented and the code is very spread out. It’s generally difficult to develop for.

Replacing an old mainframe based system in favor of a user friendly design.

Definitely a comprehensive tool to use to get a detailed quote for a customer.

Still getting used to the program, no complaints yet. We needed a “drag and drop” feature to easily attach documents, but it was implemented quickly.

It’s new, not outdated, and user friendly.

Customer management. We utilize this software to manage customer accounts, track payments made, adjust coverages to policies, no need for additional software

I enjoy that all the tabs are on one page. All the underwriters and agents are able to communicate on one platform seamlessly. 

**What do you dislike about Guidewire PolicyCenter?**

There is a lot of data duplicate entries I have to enter that does not flood through to other fields. I also do not like that it very often does not accurately pull up ALH/CLUE reports for people with current insurance.

The problem of underwriter response time has helped a bit. Hey are able to leave direct notes and remarks now.
