What do you like best about GuardRails?

It helps developers secure code from any unwanted security issues caused during the development or implementation of technology and notify as soon as any issue is detected, thereby creating a holistic end-to-end application security environment by ensuring frequent quick code scans. It is a very helpful tool for skilled coders and provides suggestions for high-quality secure software to customers in lesser time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GuardRails?

The free version of the Guardrails only allows upto 5 developers to work simultaneously while the premium version supports the development upto 25 devs only, which is quite low for the enterprise scale. It also requires supervision as the new hires are stuck in remedial and feedback loops due to low-quality code which prevents the timely implementation and promotes frequent bottlenecks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GuardRails solving and how is that benefiting you?

The integration with software like JIRA helps in scanning new or existing data sources/repositories in the system and notifying about security issues in real-time which in turn helps in achieving timely implementation and delivery to end users. Developers with experience really like to have valuable feedback while developing new logic or applications assisting devs to achieve goals earlier and utilizing time for Testing and implementation. What do you like best about GuardRails?

It is integrated with bitbucket, so we can have it scan automatically upon every commit. This helps catch sometimes tricky or hard-to-find security issues with code. It even lets us know of vulnerabilities in 3rd party libraries. Furthermore, for compliance, or responding to our customers' compliance needs, the guardrails APIs are helpful in our report generation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about GuardRails?

Onboarding to GuardRails is straightforward, and vulnerability scanning starts right away. Since every code commit triggers a new scan, developers are made aware of any weaknesses in their code much earlier in the software development lifecycle. Thus, costly refactoring exercises at later stages can be avoided. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GuardRails?

While GuardRails supports Monorepo configuration, the setup could be improved by auto-suggesting the repo setup and allowing the user to accept proposals rather than defining the repo structure manually. In a Monorepo, having an aggregated view on the same vulnerability for a dependency would be beneficial rather than listing each hit individually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GuardRails solving and how is that benefiting you?

Allowing developers to ship secure code to production with confidence in an agile manner. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about GuardRails?

I like that the focus of GuardRails is to push responsibility for code quality back on the software engineer. Working inside of GuardRails is intuitive for tech and non-tech persons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GuardRails?

There is no capability to schedule full scans (even after a rule change), but you can do it in mass by manually going through and selecting repositories to scan and submit it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GuardRails solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a smaller application security team, so GuardRails helps us ensure secure code by reporting directly to the software developer (or code developers). It prevents a process where security has historically be responsible for updating the development teams on the vulnerabilities needing to be fixed. The developers see it for themselves. Response from Daniel Bean of GuardRails

Dear Aji,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I understand that you have some concerns regarding the integration of GuardRails with GitLab and the visibility of repositories.

I would like to clarify that GuardRails is designed to integrate seamlessly with GitLab, enabling you to scan your repositories for potential security vulnerabilities and compliance issues. In terms of your concern about the visibility of repositories, please note that GuardRails only displays repositories that are accessible to the user account that was used to install GuardRails.

To address your concern, you can install GuardRails on your company's organization within GitLab, and then log in using your account. This way, you will only see the repositories that are associated with your company's organization(s).

Additionally, you can use the Filter function within GuardRails to filter out any private repositories and disable them. This can be done by:

1. Log in to the GuardRails Dashboard.

2. Navigate to the Repositories section.

3. Click on the FILTER icon located on the left-hand side, next to the ""Find Repositories"" search box.

4. Filter PRIVATE repositories

I hope this information helps. If you need any more support on this issue, please contact us on support@guardrails.io

Best regards,
