- It can be time-consuming, particularly for big dashboards with elaborate visualisations.
- The community's response time to concerns might be sluggish.
- Grafana's user interface is not as pleasant as that of certain other observability programs, such as Datadog and New Relic.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grafana Labs is a strong open source observability platform that is ideal for businesses of all sizes. It is very adaptable and expandable, with a big user and contributor community. However, it may be difficult to set up and configure, and it can be resource-intensive in big installations.

  ### 3. Grafana - The All-rounder for monitoring metrics, logging and alerting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

We're using Grafana for real-time monitoring metrics, alerting, and logging. For monitoring, we've integrated it with Prometheus, and for logging, we've integrated it with Loki and Promtail. Apart from this, we're looking to explore it as an APM at the moment.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Difficult to create a custom dashboard.
Better UI is needed for Loki logs. Real-time logs are still a challenge.
Different data sources cannot be used in the same graph at the same time, causing a visual comparison of the data to be difficult.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using node-exporter, cadvisor, mongo-exporter, mysql-exporter, pm2 exporter and nginx exporter to send data to prometheus and plot graphs on grafana for real-time monitoring. Pretty helpful to debug and provide RCA for any incidents that occur.
Getting application logs using the loki docker plugin and getting logs on Grafana on a container-level.
We hope to implement grafana tempo soon.

  ### 4. Quick Visualization of New Product Data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

The visualization dashboard is easy to use and includes a wide range of display options. You can change parameters very quickly to converge on the display you want.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

You are somewhat bound by the connectors provided and the completeness of their implementation. But this was not a serious problem for my implementation. Be that you know how to use your chosen connector.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to display operating data from our IoT solution.

  ### 5. It is a very good open source platform for centralizing logs, but requires knowledge to operate it

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nam Q. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

The upsides of this solution is that it is an open-source solution, which provides wide integration to most of systems through such protocols as CEF, syslog.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

It requires expertise or good knowledge to use or operate it.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to visualize the performance metrics of most of the systems in our organization.

  ### 6. Gain exceptional visuals and insights with Grafana

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Service Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

I'm most impressed with how Grafana allows us to visualize and understand complex relationships between data that were previously difficult to see. The detailed analytics generated by the platform allow us to anticipate our needs for an optimal user experience, such as monitoring server performance levels or tracking temperature and humidity in a data center environment. By using these graphical representations of information, we can easily determine appropriate action plans to ensure the successful operation of any application landscape.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

I dislike that Grafana's edit mode is inferior to its query mode, making it difficult for users unfamiliar with SQL to modify databases and graphs. A necessary improvement would be a more user-friendly editing interface so that non-expert users can make their own changes without having to ask someone else for help in writing the necessary query.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm benefiting from using Grafana because I can monitor and analyze the data collected by my various IoT sensors in real time. And thanks to its intuitive interface, setting up graphs with different configurations is just a click away.

  ### 7. Grafana Labs helps visualize Kubernetes metrics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

I loved that Grafana had custom created dashboards that we could save and recreate with the Grafana API. It was easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Modifying the grafana.ini file to bypass user login in an embedded dashboard was difficult, and debugging was difficult.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grafana creates very pretty dashboards for the metrics that we scraped. It saved us a lot of time.

  ### 8. Powerful Time Series Visualization Tool with steep learning curve for beginners.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

The ease of building time series visualizations is fantastic. The choice of visuals available is quite comprehensive as well. However, other tools are available in the market with a cleaner interface and better response time.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

The query-based interface to generate charts is very old school and primitive. Drag and drop interfaces are available in every BI tool, and the majority are shifting to Natural Language query semantics.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lack of Business Intelligence Tools which focus on time series data series. I used PromQL and GraphDB to create dashboards in Grafana.

  ### 9. one of the best open source monitoring tool

one of the tools for-
 To build time series visualisations.
 Adptable and scalable.
 Community support.
Varieties of visualisation choices it provides charts, graphs and tables.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Complex queries which are similar to sql.
Absence of drag and drop interfaces which are present in new BI tools.
limits on queries.
there are few bugs present.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to application logs of any sort of kuberenetes deployments or jobs using the grafana ui. one of the time saver feature.
it solves issue of the visualization and monitoring of complex data sets.

  ### 10. Best open source tool for infra monitoring

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanath R. | SDE 2, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

We use grafana paired with prometheus for infra monitoring, it provides a very intuitive visualizations with graphs on time series data such as memory utilisation, cpu consumption. Grafana's feature to allow alert setup and integrations with pagerduty and splunk oncall really easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

There are some bugs in Grafana, so not as refined as paid software like Newrelic. One more issue is that it doesn't provide alerting history if we want to review at the end of the week, so we had to rely on splunk for a report.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data visualisation platforms are extremely pricey, but opensource tools like grafana paired with Promethues work wonders for small companies. Since we can host grafana on our servers we can keep sensitive data private.

  ### 11. Used in for business insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

It's flexibility, being able to visualise almost anything

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Sometimes the panels are designed to work with Prometheus or other grafana owned data sources, and don't work great with bespoke / SQL data sources

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to see all our data quickly, in 1 place

  ### 12. Grafana: a very good alternative to costly real-time dashboard solutions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel V. | Intake Process Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

Grafana is able to connect to almost anything with a database (or other data structures) and create some impressive (and real-time) charts and tables. And it is able to do so while being free and open source, unlike other options. This tool that has been used to monitor the health of systems, servers, instances and more can be used to show real-time data from a db.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

There are some limits to the queries and the learning curve for how to parse the data can be a little tricky. It could be better if some commonly-used functions and cross-variable references.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are testing out Grafana to see if it is a viable option for displaying Jira ticket information in a dashboard, instead of inside of Jira Service Center, which would incur a license fee for everyone who would need to view it. It looks like this would be a real cost-saving option.

  ### 13. Grafana Review.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek P. | Site reliability engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

We can add alerting on the logs exceptions in grafana and add any media to receive that error log as an alert, and we are using squadcast for central alerting.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Recently we faced an issue while writing the query to fetch the logs either from Loki or other sources it always shows an error, we updated the grafana version as well, but still, it is not resolved. It is very frustrating sometime.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can easily see the application or Kubernetes pod logs over the grafana UI using the promtail. This is a time saver for the support team to check the logs even without access to Kubernetes clusters. That increase the security of cluster as well.

  ### 14. Exploring the Features and Benefits of Grafana: A User-Friendly Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pranjal G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2023

The finest feature is that it enables you to create alerts based on particular metrics or conditions and receive notifications via email, Slack, and PagerDuty.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

I believe that learning how to use all of its features and capabilities properly takes time for new users.
Grafana may need a lot of processing power and memory because it might be resource-intensive.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the main issue of visualizing and monitoring complex data sets. Its capability to share dashboards and collaborate with others on monitoring and visualization projects can help teams work more efficiently and effectively, improving communication and knowledge sharing.

Setting up alerts on PagerDuty, mail is the main advantage to detect anmoly.

  ### 29. Grafana Dashboards

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditya K. | Lead Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

Grafana is our go to service and kind of single source of truth for all the live data dashboards as well as the custom dashboards that we have created by installing telegraf agent on the servers > moving the required data to influxDB > populating it in Grafana. Good thing about grafana is its capability to intake data from various dbs like influxDB, elasticsearch, airflow, logstash etc. Also, when it comes to dashboard styling, you get a lot of customizations for visualization like graph, gauge, heatmaps, alert list, pie chart etc

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Learning how to ingest data to grafana is difficult. It takes a fair amount of knowledge in devops monitoring for you to populate data in grafana. Once, data is populated, creating dashboards using the data is like a cakewalk.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grafana is being used here in Airtel to :

1. Capture live data from network towers and creating dashboards for that
2. Hive table category mapping
3. Individual servers health dashboards
4. Airflow related dashboards
5. Hadoop monitoring dashboards
6. Spark streaming dashboards
7. Abinitio dashboards
8. Space utilisation dashboards and 100s of which would be difficult to highlight here

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mohnish t. | Site Reliability Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

The dashboards and their colors with segregations, best for infra monitoring like CPU, memory or disk usage which is related to performance, unlike Prometheus, this is one line ahead it's like the flow is Grafana with the usage of Promotheues works a lot better.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

In Grafana we cant see data clearly even though the graphs or bar charts show those are clear, maybe a proper low light dropdown with clear UI if possible will be clear to understand and sometimes if the dashboard is heavy, it takes a lot of time to load

**Recommendations to others considering Grafana Labs:**

DEf useful

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The systems-level and the server level capacity and performance will be benefited a lot, if there are thousands of servers its hard to track the CPU usage, memory usage or disk space for those, so grafana helps in tarcking all these once configured and we can set up alerts too which will notify us when they reach the threshold.

**Reviewed by:** Pranay J. | Senior DevOps Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

Grafana is a great tool for visualization of matrics coming from different sources like Prometheus, Loki, InfluxDB, etc. We can visualize metrics in multiple formats like graphs, logs, charts, and many others. It's an open-source tool that can be run self-host on the cloud or can be used on Grafana instances. Grafana also provides a free tier plan which is more than enough for most of the projects.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

I don't think there is something to dislike about Grafana but I would recommend allowing using some major plugin integration with the free or self-hosted plans.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Logs are the basic requirement of every team working on a web application. Grafana is helping us to put the logs from multiple sources on a single dashboard. It also allows us to put monitoring and alerting mechanisms on the basis of those logs.

There are some configurations which cannot be applied from the web console (UI) Grafana and in some charts, we feel the need for customization but it's not there.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Grafana for Monitoring and Alerts on the Kafka cluster & Shared the same dashboard with Kafka consumers as well so they can see the performance of the system.

  ### 45. Grafana. Indispensable Grafana

**Reviewed by:** Sergey M. | QA Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Grafana Labs?**

The first and primary function of Grafana for me is the delivery of real-time metrics. Even a fast glance into its dashboards lets me estimate our product performance and conduct quick investigations.

**What do you dislike about Grafana Labs?**

Sometimes advantages become drawbacks. In order to edit some table or graph, I used to ask my colleagues if they could help create the SQL query. Editor mode isn't much more convenient than query mode. The improvement of this feature could make Grafana more useful for users who are not so familiar with SQL.

**Recommendations to others considering Grafana Labs:**

You should know precisely what do you want from Grafana. And Grafana will surely reward.

**What problems is Grafana Labs solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grafana helps me to monitor our product performance. We can easily find any Prod operations incidents. Early and in-time Grafana alerts let us minimize our losses.
