**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

Good interface to start.  Everything is laid out very simply to see and you can easily export data to google sheets, excel or .csv.  Overview lets me see where I want to do a deeper dive in terms of performance, indexing, experience or enhancements.  I also use the insights tab to see how my blogposts are trending and what blog posts seem to get the most traction.  I also use the URL inspection to check each of the URL's on the site so I can see that they are working properly after I request changes to pages or sub-pages.  I don't ever have problems with the performance and I'm also able to perform security actions if I detect an issue.  Most importantly is that I can see the site metrics all in one place and I don't have to request it from a webmaster.

**What do you dislike about Google Search Console?**

It takes a bit to get the hang of where everything is for my purposes.  I need the search console to track site metrics so I can prepare reports for my boss to ensure that our SEO is working properly on a monthly/quarterly basis.  Also trying to understand how changes in our keywords translate to increased visibility and engagement took some research and some discussion with our SEO people. So while it is a good platform for tracking, metics and manual actions; it does require some knowledge of SEO and how it affects a website's ranking and visibility which is not as clear as I would like it to be.

**What problems is Google Search Console solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's solving a couple of problems. One: I need to prepare a report for return on investment for SEO for my boss.  In order to do that, I need the website data and before I had to email a webmaster guy that we hire.  Now, I don't need to do that, I can just look on search console and see how things are doing month over month and export data to prep my own reports.  Two: I write blogposts and I don't know after I post them how they trend.  This platform solves that problem for me by letting me see the level of engagement that each blogpost gets which in turn instructs me on how I should proceed with content.

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

I use Google Search Console for my websites in, from EYNZone InfoBlog to business to personal portfolio (satyamvishwakarma.com). I like its feature of insights, performance, and removal a lot. Insights help me with organic traffic data. Performance gives me an understanding of my website rankings, keywords, and more organic data. Removal helps me weed out any low-content pages that are not available or indexed accidentally. It especially helps with the sitemap, web vital issues, insights, URL inspection, and manual actions data. Google Search Console helps me fix issues, understand data, and work my way to a good position on Google by solving problems.

**What do you dislike about Google Search Console?**

It would be better if it could include a suggestions feature based on the reports/performance data via AI

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

I like that it helps me understand how my website is performing on Google without needing a bunch of extra tools. It’s been useful for checking search traffic, spotting indexing issues, and seeing which pages are actually getting visibility. The dashboard is fairly straightforward, especially once you’ve spent a little time getting used to it.

Sometimes it takes a little time to get familiar with all the reports and features, especially if you’re a new user. The data also doesn’t always update right away, so you may have to wait a bit before you can see recent changes reflected. Aside from that, it’s been useful overall.

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

It's one of the best tools out there, it's free to use, user friendly and intuative, giving hugely valuable insights into not only the organic traffic to your website but also technical issues on site such as 404s that Google are seeing.  It can be integrated with most popular SEO tools too, making the clarity of data they have much richer. It's fast and has 16 months of historic data. Set up is quick and easy, it pretty much leads you through the process, and then linking to other Google tools in particular such as GA4 Google Analytics, Tag Manager and Google ads makes the whole ecosystem work better in your favour. As with all Google and Microsoft tools AI is gradually slipping into the fabric of GSC, but personally I use most Ai tools more as an advisor than gospel.

Sometimes it would be good to have more data but honestly it's rare I need more than a year of data.  Also it would be good to have an SEO checker embedded, alongside the other checks it does - that's something Microsoft seem to have added which GSC does not have. Overall I use it daily and wouldn't be without it for every web, SEO or Google ads project I work on.

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

For me personally, as a webmaster since 2000, the Google Search Console is not something I like or dislike; it is a website necessity! Every website should have a well-written XML sitemap, and then for it to be functional, it must be submitted to the Search Console! 

It might take a little time to figure it out the first time, but it becomes routine if you are making websites regularly. It is also recommended that whenever you add a new web page to a website or make a major change in the existing copy, you make a new sitemap and submit it to the Google Search Console.

**What do you dislike about Google Search Console?**

Since the Google Search Console is a necessity, I do not really dislike it, as it has become routine. I was using it when it was called "Google Webmaster Tools". As I had explained, the Search Console might be a little tricky to figure out at first, but it became routine fairly quickly.

**What problems is Google Search Console solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When making a website, there are many key considerations. For business websites, if not all websites, SEO or search engine optimization is the most important consideration to make.

It is essential to use the Google Search Console with all of your websites. The first thing you do is make an XML sitemap and submit it to the Search Console, once known as Google Webmaster Tools. 

The sitemaps give the search engines a sign that you have a website that you want them to index. When I first start a website, before I have finished it, I make the sitemap and submit it to the Google Search Console. By doing this, Bing's version of the Search Console will be notified of the sitemap too.

Then each day that I make additions to that new website, I make a new sitemap and submit it. This tells the search engines that this new website is updating regularly. 

With good content on the website and a well-written XML sitemap, submitting to the Search Console will certainly expedite the search engines finding your website, indexing it, and listing it.

What I like best about Google Search Console is how it bridges the gap between technical SEO and actual search performance without overcomplicating things. Over the years, I’ve found its biggest strength is the reliability of first-party data—especially for queries, impressions, and indexing status—which you simply can’t replicate accurately with third-party tools.

The Performance report, in particular, is invaluable. It doesn’t just show what’s working, but helps uncover opportunities you didn’t explicitly target—long-tail queries, cannibalization issues, and content gaps often surface naturally there. The ability to segment by page, query, device, and country makes it practical for both high-level reporting and granular optimization.

I also appreciate how GSC has evolved beyond just being a “diagnostic tool.” Features like URL Inspection, Index Coverage, and Core Web Vitals reporting make it a central hub for both content and technical teams. It’s not perfect, but for prioritizing what actually matters in organic search—indexability, visibility, and performance—it remains one of the most trustworthy tools in the SEO stack.

What I dislike about Google Search Console is that, despite being such a critical tool, it still has limitations that make deeper analysis harder than it should be. The biggest issue is the data constraints—sampling, delays, and the 16-month historical limit make it difficult to do long-term performance analysis or year-on-year comparisons at scale.

Another pain point is the lack of transparency and consistency in certain metrics. Explaining fluctuations in impressions, clicks, or average position to stakeholders can sometimes feel like guesswork because Google doesn’t fully clarify how these are calculated.

Also, one of the more frustrating aspects from a practical SEO standpoint is that keyword-level and page-level data don’t always align cleanly. When you try to analyze performance at a granular level, the numbers often don’t match up due to data aggregation and privacy thresholds. This means you often have to manually reconcile or export and stitch the data together to get a clearer picture, which adds unnecessary effort.

Overall, while GSC is indispensable for first-party insights, it still requires a lot of manual work and supplementation with other tools to get a complete and accurate view of SEO performance.

Google Search Console solves the fundamental problem of visibility into how Google actually sees and interacts with your website, which is something no third-party tool can fully replicate.
From my experience, its biggest benefit is that it provides direct, first-party insights into search performance and indexing, helping answer critical questions like:

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

Here’s what I love most about it:

The Performance report: It shows me exactly what keywords people are typing to find my site, not just estimates. Being able to spot “low-hanging fruit”-keywords where I rank 8-15 but have a low click-through rate means I can quickly tweak a title tag or meta description and get more traffic without having to write new content.

The URL Inspection tool: When I publish a new article or fix a bug, I can paste the URL in to see how Googlebot is rendering it and, more importantly, request indexing right away. For me, it’s the fastest way to get new content into search results.

The Page Indexing report: This tells me exactly which pages aren’t indexed and why (for example, 404 errors or “crawled but not indexed”). It helps me pinpoint and fix issues that block my site from showing up, and it often saves me from those panic-inducing traffic drops.

It’s free and comprehensive: It gives me a high-level view of overall website health from security issues and mobile usability to Core Web Vitals, all in one place.

Search Console Insights: This feature makes it easy for content creators to see which blog posts are trending and where traffic is coming from, without needing to be a data scientist.

Basically, it’s the x-ray vision I need to make data-backed decisions about where to focus my SEO efforts.

When I look at clicks in GSC and compare them with sessions in GA4, they almost never line up. I understand they’re measuring different things, but having to reconcile the two for a client is a real nightmare.

**What do you like best about Google Search Console?**

The thing I like most about Google Search Console is the new AI feature that lets me ask about any day or any performance-related question, and it shows the graph. Another very useful part is being able to see which keywords people search for. The indexing controls are also very good—when we update prices, we don’t need to wait for Google to find the changes. Mobile alerts are helpful as well.

For the cost, it’s perfect. Other SEO data providers are paid, but this is completely free. The page-wise data is very useful too, because it helps me see which pages are trending and which are not. Overall, there are many features, and most of them are good. It also allows me to add the sitemap, which is a great feature, and through it Google can find all my pages automatically. The Core Web Vitals report is also very useful, so we can monitor whether the loading speed is good or not, which helps us improve the customer experience. The page-wise report is helpful for checking which pages get the most visits and impressions and which get less, so we can improve the SEO. Most importantly, it lets me check Security and Manual Actions to confirm whether my website is secure—meaning whether it’s safe or hacked.

**What do you dislike about Google Search Console?**

Well, the features are good, but the data updates aren’t fast. I often need to wait 2 to 3 days. The filter shows 24 hours, but many times it only provides partial data, and then after 2 to 3 days it updates correctly.

Also, it doesn’t save the data completely; it saves only 16 months of data. It’s not a big problem because 16 months is enough, but I think it should be 24 years at least. The indexing controls are good, but the validation takes approximately 36 hours.

As a travel business, we need prices to be updated, but because of the partial results, many times when we update it has an immediate impact on our new offers. Most of our customers use mobile, so we need to view the data with a mobile filter, but there is no option to set mobile as the default. I think they should provide default settings.

**What problems is Google Search Console solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The keyword list that shows what customers use to find our website is genuinely helpful. I also like that it displays my site’s average position for high-value keywords like “taxi service,” because it makes it much easier to understand where I rank.

It automatically detects broken links, which is great, and it doesn’t stop at simply listing them. It also explains why a page isn’t indexed and what I can do to fix it.

The AI filter is useful too, and the graph is clear and easy to follow. In Inspect, the live test feature is also very good. It usually takes around 1–2 minutes to run, but not every time; sometimes it finishes in as little as 20 seconds.

The region-wise data showing where most clicks and impressions come from is very useful as well. The feature I personally find most helpful is being able to request indexing whenever I need to. It does take a while to update, but it’s still valuable. Overall, there are plenty of strong features, although there are a few issues too. They aren’t major, but they’re still there.

As a developer its very important for me to list my website on google, i.e indexing, Process is very simple, for example Adding a property, its very easy to add and verify using Text DNS records, it checks and give live time approval. Checking how many clicks my particular website got to sending montly reports about my domain on mail i.e Monthly report. It makes User work very easy, Every month i receive my all domain reports with clicks, intraction increased/decreased and very minor but important things like no of click from partiular link. One more important thing is SEO, it helps a lot by helping to add the keywords which my customers are using to search my domain/site like 'Queries leading to your site',,this helps a lot to track. Giving proper reports of Performance Domain wise like 24hours,7 Days,28 days etc. very easy in this busy world to track. URL Inspection plays a very vital role, in short all the options which are available in Google Seacrh console are very usefull and very user friendly, Each and every option is used some or the other day. Love it

Auto Crawling is very slow,after making the required changes we have to wait for certain time period to get it updated, little more automation is required if user is verified, it saves a lot of time & one of the biggest isssue is Old reports, If Google can Give 15GB of free drive storage, it should also save older data, for Example today its 9 April 2026, i cannot access my performance report before 10 April 2024, this is a majour drawback, to track long term performance some alternative should be there. Not always sometimes Google takes more time to get the required thing done, not always, in some casses

Best  if you want to Transfer the site i.e change of address,it makes very easy to Update it, it shows how many redirects are there and all will be updated in new site, this reduces a very much burdern of the Developer or the User. Health checkup tool helps a lottt in many factors and showing daily performance , no of clicks, reach on site, how much increased as compared to old and how much decreased. While Google Search Console is incredibly valuable, it does have some limitations. The biggest drawback is the data retention window. Historical data is limited, which makes long-term trend analysis difficult without exporting data regularly.

Additionally, the interface can feel restrictive when working with large datasets. While regex helps, there’s still no native way to build more advanced queries or combine multiple dimensions in a flexible way like you would in tools such as BigQuery. Sampling and data discrepancies can also be frustrating when trying to reconcile performance metrics across platforms.

Finally, reporting and automation capabilities are somewhat limited, requiring external tools or APIs to scale workflows.

I really like the Core Web Vitals feature in Google Search Console. It helps us know what aspects we have to optimize in our website, such as speed, which is important for ranking higher. It points out which pages we need to work on, allowing us to optimize them and consequently improve our website's performance. Also, the initial setup is super easy, especially with the DNS setup.

So currently, they are not providing the feature of AI citations or AI mentions. So that can be added, like, what kind of exact AI citations and mention we are getting. So that data, if we can get, then I think it will be a very good tool for us.

I really like Google Search Console's ability to compare keyword performance on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and provide crawl statistics. Crawl statistics allow us to see if there are any issues on the website, helping us improve SEO. I find the keyword statistics valuable, as they let us know which keywords to invest more in and where we are performing well or weakly, which is useful for client reporting and when creating content for SEO. The setup was very easy, and it integrates well with other tools like Google Trends, enriching our strategic planning by allowing simultaneous trend data comparison for the keywords we're working with.

Google Search Console can only export 1000 rows of data in coverage reports, which is limiting. The data export capability for keyword statistics is also very limited. When using BigQuery to back up this data, we can get more keyword data, but this requires creating separate reports. Additionally, the data pool only retains 16 months of data.

The UI may take some getting used o, but they don't change it often and can easily become second nature. It's free, which is of course nice. It also has dependable organic data that you can reference and use in a number of ways. Setting up can sometimes be troublesome, but the use value of this tool makes it worth the effort.

The biggest issue is that navigating the UI and knowing everything it can do takes a lot of time. If you're job depends on knowing organic performance of your website or pages, however, then it's a learning curve worth adapting to.

The performance and diagnostics features are the two things I use the most frequently. First, search results performance allows me to see what keywords we are ranking for, average position and volume. Diagnostics lets me know how our webpages are performing and being crawled. It also automatically flags any errors like 404s so I can alert my product team. The UI is very simple and easy to use. It is a free tool which makes up for some of the shortcomings.

The filtering and segmentation isn't the most comprehensive. For example, when looking at your search result queries, you can only add a maximum of 2 filters. So if I wanted to see how a certain query performs in a specific country on a specific device, I'll need to find a workaround. The Google Analytics integration doesn't provide as much additional functionality as I have hoped. Support is another issue that is hard to come by.

I find that it doesn’t provide as much insight into performance as I’d like. For example, it’s hard to understand why we did better on one day than another when very little has changed. You can see the data, but it’s still up to you to dig into it and draw your own conclusions.

I like the level of direct data that Google Search Console provides because it's first-party data from the source, which is a huge plus compared to third-party tools. I find the indexing and coverage reports, 404s tracking, and schema markup issues/testing particularly useful. The direct link into Looker Studio is a plus, allowing me to blend data sources by joining Google Search Console with Google Analytics 4 and getting what we call the complete picture. Custom segmentation is cool too, and reporting is almost ready to submit to clients! The initial setup was very easy, especially with WordPress.

Two things, data frequency I think it's a 24-48 hours delay, and also the max 16 months retention limit doesn't help for year to year reference.

Give us AI overview reporting, and actionable feedback on technical fixes. Additionally, a more user-friendly method of controlling crawl parameters and supplementing Robots.txt directives would also be useful, particularly in instances where a development team may take longer than necessary to add or change rules as part of their code release schedules.

Additional annotation about when//how updates impact the data would also be useful, rather than needing to guess  or piece together insights from blog posts and X tweets.
