It's a great tool to use for continuous development. Although, I used an existing project, and it was easy to use the cloud code plugin with it. The only additional configuration necessary is a Skaffold YAML file which either can be generated for you automatically or you can use a template (found in their documentation.) **What do you dislike about Google Cloud Tools for IntelliJ?** It took a while for me to grasp the concept of what skaffold was and all the playing pieces in getting the application deployed. But once you figure it out, it makes it much easier to manage/deploy your application. I can't think of anything I absolutely dislike about it, though. **Recommendations to others considering Google Cloud Tools for IntelliJ:** I would recommend using Cloud Code (google cloud tool) plugin for IntelliJ. It's easy to deploy java backend code. I'd say I'm a bit spoiled with the tools you can use with the plugin – I rarely use the command line anymore. When you're building/working on code locally, it's easy to debug the app. **What problems is Google Cloud Tools for IntelliJ solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main reason we use this is for continuous deployment - we deploy code almost every other day to production now. I would say this was one of the main benefits. It's also easy to use once you figure out how it all works and debug any problems that come up with deployment. You also have access to secrets manager (see screenshot), making it easy to build secured applications to protect sensitive data. ### 47. With Cloud Tool from Google, as simplicity as always from Google products, we are able to smooth our deployment process and debug process. This leads to higher productivity for the whole team. It comes free with Intellij licence so it's a definitely plus. **What do you dislike about Google Cloud Tools for IntelliJ?** Due to the nature of cloud, we highly depend on the availability of the Google server, but with little control of it. So far it's reliability is ok.
