Google cloud function is a fantastic serverless computing service, that I've found useful for handling event-driven tasks. The simplicity is what I like most, without worrying about managing servers, just write your function, deploy and leave the rest to Google to handle it. It's extraordinary for lightweight tasks like processing real time events, automating workflow or integrating with other GC services. The scalability is also impressive, functions being able to scale automaticlly, reducing cost based on usage only, which actually is cost effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Altough with all the postives, there are few drawbacks too. There is a long learning curve for someone wants to try. It's easy to set up simple functions, but things are tricky when it comes to managing complex project. Debugging and logging system is functional but clunky at times. I liked the Services like Cloud Run, Cloud Run functions, BigQuery, VPN Gateways , VPC Access connector, App Engine. I have used some top cloud products and compared to them Google Cloud is much easier and has a clean UI. It is very easy to scp into VMs and manage them. It is easy to add your public keys to the VMs so you can access them from your local machine. I wish it was more popular than it is. It is missing all the latest services that other cloud products are providing like AI models etc. The one complicated part that I don't like is network management.
