"Incredible product knowledgebase software"
What do you like best about GitBook?

We were in-market for a product knowledgebase / documentation software that's easier to use than our technical documentation stack (eg. OpenAPI) and found that many companies we admire used Gitbook.

It's been an incredibly user-friendly tool that allows collaborative access across various teams. It is also easy to make and approve content edits with branched change requests, which has been a lifesaver. Finally, their powerful search feature has been very helpful for customers to self-serve information that was previously difficult to find. Lots to love, very little downside overall. What do you dislike about GitBook?

Honestly can't think of any. Product team has been very receptive to feedback/suggestions, and has been a pleasure to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent experience with Gitbook"
What do you like best about GitBook?

We have used Gitbook in two large open-source projects - MOSIP and OpenG2P. We were looking for a tool where the content could be portable, written in a simple markdown format, and editable both on the tool and directly on GitHub. Further, we did not want to take the burden of hosting the documentation site. Gitbook provided us with all of these and much more. The latest version of Gitbook has rich features to embed various content types. The look and feel of the documentation is neat and modern.

Gitbook has supported our projects by issuing us a community license with a fee waiver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

I would like to see the following improvements/feature additions:

1. Feature to embed and edit draw.io diagrams directly without having to save draw.io diagrams as .svg and upload them separately.

2. More themes and templates with customisation that can differentiate between different projects/products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great alternative to Confluence"
What do you like best about GitBook?

The import of my legacy Confluence spaces went very well.

I just broke the Confluence exports into small chunks, then the imports came over great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

There does not seem to be a way to move pages between Spaces or export anything that can be imported back into another space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GitBook is my preferred way to share corporate information and documentation"
What do you like best about GitBook?

GitBook's synchronization with GitHub is ideal, and provides a prettier interface for viewing and updating documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

I wish it had support for binary files like PDFs in the repo. I'd love to link to our charter, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Collaborative Tool for all of Our Users"
What do you like best about GitBook?

GitBook is a user-friendly, intuitive, and flexible documentation platform. The simple, well-designed interface is not overly intimidating for some of our less-technical users, yet has plenty of features for those who need more options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

While the simple markdown style is great for most of our purposes, it can less than pleasant when formatting embedded media. Also, there is a lack of editing options when creating button links that could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best wiki's around!"
What do you like best about GitBook?

I love how simple it is to document information/knowledge within GitBook. The UI is straightforward to understand and makes using Gitbook an absolute joy. Additionally, I love that that permissions and access are straightforward and I can invite our community members to help document information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

While there is an embed feature, I wish I could control it more. I wanted to embed an airtable form and while it mostly worked, it took me awhile to figure out how to do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
