What do you like best about GitBook?

Gitbook has a great suite of rich text features for creating documentation - keeping it basic and the available styles look very elegant. The limited adaptability is a positive because it allows options, while also keeping things simple. We recently used it for an initiative where our partners were very satisfied with the results and the ability to use it for an event as supporting materials. It was very easy to implement. What do you dislike about GitBook?

I felt slightly disoriented relating to navigation at times, but once the support team helped me with how the functionality is structured, it was easy to get around. There were a few technical glitches, but the support team is extremely responsive and working on any glitches that might arise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed something that is quick to learn and quick to deploy, which multiple users can edit and review and which could be accessed via a link by event attendees. It is also useful as a way to host software development toolkits and other outputs from our initiatives. We also use it for documentation of our open source products. What do you like best about GitBook?

I could upload a website completely free. Setting up and editing the website is extremely easy and intuitive, and best of all, I received very fast and helpful response by the team.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Its a little bit unclear and messy right now when it comes to their plans. It seems like you have to ask for permission for the community plan, which is simply what Gitbooks would claim is for free anyways. I'm not sure why they need you to make a formal request for something like this, but the team answered me really fast and approved my application to the community plan so it wasn't really a big problem. "Clean and organized documentation for my teams!"

What do you like best about GitBook?

I enjoy the built-in page organization structure and the rich searching features that highlight specific pages and headers where search terms appear. My teams frequently need to reference our SOPs to accurately complete our work, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on more consistent searchability compared to disorganized storage in Google Docs. What do you dislike about GitBook?

For teams that primarily or exclusively use the web editor as opposed to local repositories synced with GitHub, I would like more documentation and features for creating a backup of my documentation that's cleaner than downloading all of the docs as PDFs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitBook solving and how is that benefiting you?

My team does data entry, among other things, which means we have accumulated many specific processes over the years. We previously documented these in Google Docs, but found the search capabilities in Drive lacking, which meant that folks did not use SOPs which would then eventually become out of date. Our team has found GitBook much more reliable to keep our docs organized, up-to-date, and easy to search through to find information. What do you like best about GitBook?

"Gitbook almost perfectly bridges coding and documentation"

What do you like best about GitBook?

- Very easy to implement. Without external need, I had setup the docs within half an hour. I got a free call with support anyway but that was not needed at all.

- Development Workflow Integration: Easily edit documentation directly within our codebase or via Gitbook’s intuitive editor.

- Unified Documentation Platform: Supports both technical (including API endpoint docs) and user-friendly documentation in a single platform.

- GitHub and GitHub Actions Integration: Streamlined and efficient automation through GitHub integrations, which makes it possible to have docs updates in a flow whenever an update on the application is made.
