What do you like best about Git Tower?

I like the simplified git reflog mapped to undo/redo keybord shortcuts. It intuitively groups multiple git commands into a single undo/redo action. A great escape hatch when you make a mistake.

I like the ability to view Git LFS image diffs.

I like the simple drag and drop rebase and rebase --onto options, and the new force push with lease button. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

Unable to filter git commit history view to only my commits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

An easier visualisation of my working changes. Reduces the burden for my mental model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for the detailed review, Tim! We're glad to know that you're benefiting from Tower's advanced features :)

Regarding the possibility to "filter git commit history view to only my commits". In Tower you can filter by author, which should do the trick. Please let us know if something is missing!

What do you like best about Git Tower?

It just feels right. Tower isn't a bloated and messy Electron app. And being a Mac User, having native software that blends in perfectly with my workflow is key. It's much more intutitive than other Git clients I tried - and even more powerful.

The GitHub integration is very useful too, and removed some of my annoying application hopping.

Git Tower also offers a free license to students, from which offer I got to know the software in the first place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

Nothing, really. Except that it may became such a substantial part of my workflow that I basically forgot how to use Git as a CLI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

If you want to make Git easy and find yourself often looking up how things work, try Git Tower. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's such a huge time saver; everything is intuitive to me. As for that - the pricing is fine too.

Another example is the way it shows submodules and I can visually update them; I previously often missed them when working with the Git CLI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for the flattering review, Tobias! Glad you enjoy our GitHub integration and appreciate Tower's native experience 🥳

What do you like best about Git Tower?

Git tower has been my main driver for git for about ten years. Its ability to navigate a project, resolve conflicts, and even its merge tool integration with other clients is a godsend. Some of my peers spend an hour cleaning up a rebase where as with git tower, I can stream through 40 commits and 100s of conflicts in 30 minutes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

It used to get confused when I would need to continue on a no-commit and id have to go to the command line, but that just got fixed it a recent update! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

GUI git client. It just really speeds things up not having to know the command line arguments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for the kind words, Kyle! We're very happy to learn how Tower helps you work more efficiently 😎

We hope you continue to enjoy Tower for many more years to come 🙏

Tower actually supports image diffing since v3. If you click on the file, you will see a Old/New comparison on the right. This works for PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, JPEG2000, and HEIC files :)

What do you like best about Git Tower?

I like that it's a native Mac app, which results in a very speedy app. Sometimes I do git stuff in the terminal, but I prefer Tower to get a nice visual overview of the changed files before committing and pushing. The diff viewer is very clear, so mostly I know in a glimpse of an eye if it's okay to commit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

Found nothing to dislike in 5 years... :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

You can open Tower from the Terminal and even jump to a specific project, so I made an alias to open Tower from my current project in VS Code, which speeds up my workflow even more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for your review and for sharing that VS Code tip, Klaas!

We hope you continue to enjoy Tower for many more years to come :)

What do you like best about Git Tower?

Tower is one of my favourite tools - it does what all great software does; it takes a specific problem and fixes it.

Git is a great tool, and I can use it with the best of them via the command line. But it's tedious and time-consuming, and if you hit a problem rebasing or using multiple git accounts, you can end up spending a significant portion of your day messing around with it.

For me, my time is precious - if a tool can save me 30 minutes a day which I can then better use, you know, to build actual features - then I'm going to use it.

If you ever gotten lost in the weeds trying to find why you can't push a git commit, or looking for a piece of code you've stashed - give Tower a go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

Nothing, it's great - potentially could have a better pricing system if you're buying multiple licenses for a team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

Give it a real chance without getting too hung up on the difference between doing it via the command line and feeling like you're not a "real" developer. Real developers save time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

- Rebasing branches becomes a breeze

- Changing a git commit message anywhere in your tree is easy

- You can save and restore stashes quickly and effectively Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

"Real developers save time" - what a quote! Thank you for the (super) kind words, Alexander 🙏 We're happy that Tower saves you time 😊

What do you like best about Git Tower?

It's gorgeous to look at. Right away you can tell a lot of effort went into the UI design—and when I'm looking to improve my workflow, this is my #1 priority. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

Nothing major, really. It has a tiny learning curve that you'll get over in less than 30 minutes. It's straightforward and I like that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've used console commands for the longest time as a developer, so I can't say I've used that many GUI clients before. With that being said, Git Tower made the switch worth it, in between its branch logs and easy stashing. It's made my workflow faster, and I can't thank it enough for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for your review, Alejandro! We hope you continue to enjoy using Tower ✌️
