What do you like best about Git Tower?

It has an excellent-looking interface. The way it shows conflicting files and who was the author makes me work more seamessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

It is costly for non-students. I found that the UI sometimes lags on Windows 10 for some reason I can put my finger on, and much of the information is hidden, and you need to navigate thoroughly to find what you need to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

Check if it is cost-beneficial to you, as it can be expensive to some of us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

I can work with multiple versions of my code with my colleagues with ease. Some of them don't even use it, and I can see that their changes are a plus in my book. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Git Tower?

Tower is a tool that is crafted with love. It's a beautiful native experience that feels at home on both macOS and Windows. It's also the first Git client that made Git click for me. I now merge, rebase, reset and cherry-pick with no fear: I now understand what I'm doing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

There's nothing I don't like about Tower. I only wish it had a merge tool :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Tower for all my Git needs. I don't use the command line anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for your input, David! We're happy to learn that we've made Git simpler to use 🥳

What do you like best about Git Tower?

I hate using the command line

I've tried a ton of tools over the years, from free options like github desktop to more complex options like kraken.

For me, tower is better than them all.

It's easy to use, clearly shows you basic functions while giving you the option for more complex commands in menus if needed.

Even though this is a paid tool, I choose to use it because it just works so much better than the other options and I'm happy to support the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

The only downside I've found: tower always seems to fail a commit when trying to create github actions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

It significantly increases my development speed, especially when performing PRs or bug fixes across many branches. Switching is just a double click, even if you haven't pulled the branch before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thanks for the kind words, Dan! This is wonderful to hear 🙏

Regarding the GitHub Actions issue: this is due to the OAuth token missing the "workflow" scope and will be fixed soon, so new OAuth tokens will receive the correct permissions.

In the meantime, you can either:

- use Personal Access Tokens to authenticate, which lets the users define the scopes themselves

- use SSH, as the issue will also not be present.

We hope this helps. Thanks a lot for your feedback and support, Dan!

What do you like best about Git Tower?

What I like most about Git Tower is that it always works, it is visual and makes some of the tedious tasks of using git cmd super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

There is not much more that I don't like about Tower. Maybe two little things: 1) I know how to do some stuff over the cmd, and I don't know how will be done on the GUI, so I keep switching between both. 2) Switching between git projects is a bit painful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps me use Git when I don't remember some of the commands or I want to see it in a more visual way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for your kind words, Jacob! We're happy to provide some much-needed visual aid :)

We'll see what can be done for easier project-switching!

What do you like best about Git Tower?

I like the ability to very specifically stage files or parts of files and make very detailed commits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

It’s a little bit too expensive for more casual use. I wished a client of its capabilities would be available to more people. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Git Tower as easy access to my repository, and I love seeing all details on the changed code. This functionality gives me confidence that my check-in is correctly addressing the issues. It can also help spotting typos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for the kind words, Eric! We're super happy to learn how Tower has helped you in creating better commits :)

What do you like best about Git Tower?

Git Tower is the most intuitive git client that I have ever used. It takes the pain out of complex operations like interactive rebasing and simplifies branch and pull request management for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

In all honesty, there isn't anything that I dislike about Tower. It is a fantastic product, and the company provides top-notch support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

Do not hesitate to purchase Git Tower. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

I prefer using a GUI for git and tried many different applications. Git Tower has a beautiful UI, works cross-platform, and does a great job of supporting even the most advanced git commands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Git Tower?

Being able to add my work and personal github account as well as different accounts for gitlab servers is just amazing. I can easily manage all my repositories over multiple accounts and providers.

Being able to categorise my repositories into different categories is great to keep an overview of what repo is for what. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

The only thing missing would be a more integrated solution for Github pull requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

I would recommend Git Tower for everyone using a mac as their primary OS. The Windows version is good and functional but doesn't "feel" as native and polished even though this is a very subjective opinion and If you're just looking for the basically complete feature set I would also recommend Git Tower for Windows users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

Git Tower solves the problem of having multiple Github and Gitlab accounts merged into one UI.

I finally have an overview of what I have stashes as that always got lost.

Honestly it's the only git client that actually feels like it's macOS native so that's a huge plus for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Git Tower?

There are many git apps out there - some trying to be smart and helpful on your behalf. Tower is rather a toolbox allowing you to choose your approach. It doesn't prescribe, it only enables. It is also a native macOS app, something in the age of electron and other development tools is becoming more scarce. The ease of use, ability to drag and drop and just simplify git actions which can get quite hairy in command line s an absolute live saver. Few tools allow me to work as confidently as Tower does. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Git Tower?

There are some minor annoyances with how it handles multiple tabs, switching etc. But it's so small given the overall value that it's not worth staying away over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Git Tower:

There are free trials, it definitely is worth trying out. Often in life you get what you pay for - with Tower the value is much more than the price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Git Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tower is my main GUI when working in code repositories and performing git related tasks. I often work across multiple repositories at the same time, and Tower makes it simple to switch, find, etc my way around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bruno Brito of Git Tower

Thank you for your review! 🙏 In the future, we will see how we can improve tab-switching 😊 We hope you continue to enjoy using Tower!
