Top Rated Gephi Alternatives

It's really simple to use, it has a nice interface and it has a data laboratory tab that lets you manipulate data, also it has a plugins tab that adds many other tools such as "Network Splitter 3D" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I didn't like about it is that it forces you to install Java, but if you're a regular Java user then you'll not have any other troubles with Gephi. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how I can do a social media analysis easily by importing the dataset I obtain from the Twitter API. It allows me different ways of presenting the network graphs easily and to focus on what I need, i.e. Eigenvector Centrality, Betweenness Centrality or any other setting I require. It allows for a HQ capture of the graphs to be used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it requires more RAM to be able to render the image or it doesn't let me import certain files. Upgrading the software or adding plugins can make it glitchy. I also don't like how it takes so much time to export the image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gephi is an open source network visualization tool that can be installed on a desktop. It is extremely simple to use requires almost no coding to perform important tasks. The ability to calculate important variables and community models as well as instantly visualize them within seconds is unparalleled. The software is free which is a huge plus and the website has really good tutorials on how to use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had to install Java separately to get Gephi to work correctly. My recommendation is that as Gephi is being installed, the user should be prompted to install Java first before the Gephi installation can go through. Also, some of the locations of the buttons have changed from the previous versions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gephi is an amazing visualization tool. It is user friendly and the GUI is very self explanatory . It is the best tool for network analysis. It allows us to easily apply various filters on the network graph to make the graph more readable. We can calculate many statistical parameters such average degree, clustering coefficient, network diameter, modularity etc. We can then change the size and color of nodes according to the parameters for analyzing the network. It also allows us to save all graphs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The layout algorithms when run on large networks, can really load your processor. It also has high battery usage. The worst drawback is that you cannot undo a change done to your network in gephi. If you did an unwanted change, you have to start over again. The filter application is also a little confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Through this tool you can analyze quantitative and qualitative data. Personally I have been able to do text analysis and at the same time data of variables of level reason like velicidad of automobiles. The best thing about this software is to be able to apply filters, statistical models, analysis schemes and still opt for very interactive and pleasing visuals. The application module of statistical models with color filters is not very intuitive. He preferred to perform the statistical models and then edit the graphic elements of visualization by hand. To improve this aspect would be more fluid use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like being able to input my CSV's from Wireshark to create an instant network map of usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The layout is a bit cluttered and hard to navigate. Sometimes navigating can be a pain to find certain items. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how it can be used to map out different patterns and how easy it is to turn numbers into something visual that anyone can see and understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It sometimes crashes randomly and you lose your work. It's not easy to import all data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
User interface was easy to understand and support was readily available online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I didn't have a lot of experience going in and it took a while to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am competent in using R to do social network analysis, and even then I prefer to use Gephi to visualize large networks. Gephi also provides some important measure results such as closeness, betweenness and eigenvector centralities, and one does not have to know programming in order to get these results, which makes the program very convenient to use. With add-ons, it is also possible to create dynamic networks publishable on the web. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unlike UCInet, it takes time to understand how to color-code nodes based on the characteristics you choose, or which button works for what. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gephi is great in terms of easily generating and manipulating social network visualizations. The UI is easy-to-use. There is a learning curve - but not too steep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gephi is not great for data manipulation or analysis. It helps you do basic descriptive analysis, but for any other statistical or network analysis measures, you will need a different software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I feel like every Data Viz needs to have Gephi for Network Visualisation. The ease of use Gephi really trumps any other competitor in the same category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The controls can be a bit clumsy at times, I use Gephi on mac and the graph pane gets stuck a lot of times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
