I like the efficiency of being able to collect a large number of soil and/or groundwater samples in a very short period of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

The check valves used for collecting groundwater samples from the rods get stuck open very often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

Take care of your geoprobe and it will take care of you Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Geoprobe solving and how is that benefiting you?

Using geoprobes we can conduct an entire soil or groundwater investigation in a very short time and be way more cost effective than using a drill rig. They can maneuver in tighter spaces obviously also. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Geoprobe?

As a field chemist at Ecology and Environment and Terracon, I operated a variety of Geoprobe's equipment. At E&E we had the third unit off the line in 1989. We put it through it's paces sampling soil, soil gas, and water across the midwest. The E&E unit did not have the gas chromatograph unit included. At Terracon we had 3 units, all equipped with GC's. Terracon also had the track mounted Geoprobe for accessing sample points on difficult terrain. I chased chlorinated solvents and leaking underground storage tank plumes in most states west of the Mississippi. I sampled water from as deep as 200' below grade. The data generated on the mobile GC setup matched CLP level III duplicate samples in almost all cases. We were able to collect many soil core samples from selected depths and analyse them on site for rapid determination of plume shape, size and migration rate. This allowed for rapid deployment of remediation systems and rapid assessment of their effectiveness. I used Geoprobe generated data in multiple court cases to prove sources of soil and ground water contamination. I miss my days putting holes in the ground. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

I had no dislikes of the Geoprobe equipment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

Geoprobe is able to provide rapid on-site data to make decisions on contamination or soil conditions. Geoprobe data acquired by experienced users stands up in court. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Geoprobe solving and how is that benefiting you?

I delineated soil and water contamination. I used the on board GC to provide quick results for chlorinated solvent and leaking underground storage tank plumes. I mapped landfill gas plumes. I collected soil samples from specific depths to map the vertical extent of contamination. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Geoprobe?

Geoprobe's versatility is a great feature. The small size relative to other drill rigs allows for the unit to reach tight spaces. The tracks allow for zero degree turns and mobilization through most conditions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

There is a lot of tooling that needs replaced frequently. This tooling is expensive and proprietary. Due to the tracked design of the geoprobe units, a support vehicle and trailer are needed for mobilization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

If you are looking to purchase a geoprobe and you have the resources, I would suggest purchasing a unit that can handle both geotechnical applications, i.e. turn augers, and do direct push. The 7822 machine is capable of doing both. But, geotech holes over 20 ft take exponentially longer.

Clearly, geoprobe is not software. It's a drill rig. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Geoprobe solving and how is that benefiting you?

We typically use geoprobe for environmental soil and groundwater sampling applications. We have also used it for for LIF, CPT, and geotechnical applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Geoprobe?

Groprobe direct push technology is unrivaled. They have 3 or 4 different rig sizes which allows for ultimate mobility and drilling in tight spaces. The power of the rig varies with size. The Geoprobe 7822DT is one of the larger rigs and can push through some of the hardest clay soils of central and northern Indiana. The rotary option allows for quick and convenient monitoring well installation.

Environmental sampling is fun and stress free when using a Geoprobe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

Rotary power can be limited in hard clay soils. Particularly clay soils in northern Indiana. The truck mounted drill rigs significantly lack power for drilling in clay soils or breaking concrete. Some difficulties opening the spoon sleeve; however, with the right tools it can be easy. Not much to dislike about Geoprobe, great company with amazing products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

Space and size of your drilling Site. Depending on the area, you might need to use a smaller or larger Geoprobe rig Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Geoprobe solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are solving client problems by sampling contaminated soil and groundwater with Geoprobe machinery. Geoprobe drill rigs make projects very cost and time efficient, especially for a large Site.

Geoprobe is great for vertical soil boring and monitoring well installation. I have experience with installing permanent and temporary monitoring wells. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

In very cold climates is hard to get out the soil cores and pack them into samples easily. I'm not sure whether Geoprobe can assist in this matter though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

The tech works just fine, so focus on having the right people around you for a better experience. Of course you need a good lab that can reliably analyze your outputs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Geoprobe?

Incredibly well manufactured rigs, very reliable and user friendly. User friendly control panel is well laid out. Extraction clamp is quick and simple and the sliding chassis for quick access during installation of wells. The remote control for tracking is a huge benefit with the on board battery charger inside the engine bay. We could complete an 8 metre borehole in under an hour with 2" well screen installation - never managed a borehole completed as quickly on other company manufactured rigs.

We found ordering coreliner/spares etc

was simple enough and delivery was quick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Geoprobe?

Replaced the barrel clamp with a stronger one as original broke. Vibration caused nuts to loosing but solved with starlick washers. Noise while drilling from the head. Could not proceed with sampling through blowing sands due to not using a flush medium. This was not a machine fault though. It can be a slow process to get the filter materials around the well screen and tagging the depth due to the diameter of the completed borehole. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Geoprobe:

Far quicker to drill/window sample than a dando terrier or archway competitor. Really good pull back power. Fast tracking which is very stable on uneven ground between boreholes. Good fuel efficiency compared to similar sized rigs. We removed the winch as extraction of core barrel was quick enough usin the clamp.

It may be more expensive than other rigs on the market but the speed of drilling boreholes more than makes up for it.

I've recommended these rigs to my new employer and forwarded online videos and specifications to the management - says it all really on my experience with using these rigs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Geoprobe solving and how is that benefiting you?

We did site investigation and water monitoring boreholes incredibly fast without the need for air/water flush.

Very quick setup on uneven ground.

We took this rig on a truck around Europe for months without a single issue. Smaller sized coreliner takes up less storage space during mobilisations. On board core extraction is a huge benefit to quickly extract coreliner. The equipment rack on the back is great for moving equipment between boreholes without the need for a support vehicle following.

The rig had its own pressure washer to clean of dirt before moving to new sites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
