**Reviewed by:** Swati A. | Senior Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Gatling?**

Gatling is a go-to tool for stress testing the web application and even smoke testing. The best part is the graphical results and web page output for viewing test results, statistically: 90% tests in 1 min or 75% requests response within 5 sec etc.

**What do you dislike about Gatling?**

Only Java 8 is supported, integration library for scala, kerberos ticket timeouts while stress testing. Difficult for new person to understand and implement, high learning curve. The organization might not support required libraries.

**What problems is Gatling solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What problems is Gatling solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used this tool to implement custom load strategies by ramping the number of simultaneous users you want to simulate for some time, than decrease little by little.
I've also tested some custom business API test cases that could be hard to test with other simple tools.

  ### 10. Fast load testing with python

  ### 12. Great tool for Load testing , needs improvement in reporting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul Y. | Lead Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2021

**What do you like best about Gatling?**

Easy to use interface, easy to write tests in scala if you are from Java background. Low memory consumption owing to the AKKA framework. Integration available are good but they can be better.

**What do you dislike about Gatling?**

Reports. There should be more options for filtering through on the results. Also, I think the assertions available are a bit old and should be expanded on the lines of Chai JS.

**What problems is Gatling solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to have performance metrics created for multiple microservices that we have. Users complained that the app using the microservices was slow, so we needed to test the performance benchmark for the microservices.
Then we use scala for performing load tests on the various microservices. This enabled us to get a hold of the performance of the microservices under varying degrees of loads in quick time, thanks to Gatling.

**Official Response from Diego Salinas:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Gatling! It's great to hear that you find it easy to use and appreciate its low memory consumption. We understand your concerns about the reporting capabilities and will take your suggestions for improved filtering options and expanded assertions into consideration for future updates.

It's so cool to learn that Gatling has been instrumental in helping you create performance metrics for your microservices and improve the app's speed. If you have any specific ideas or additional feedback on how we can enhance your experience further, please feel free to reach out. We're here to support you in optimizing your load testing processes.

  ### 13. Gatling for nextGen LoadTesting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vinod B. | DevOps Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Gatling?**

It's effortless to integrate with the pipeline as well as with local testing. We can write simple scripts with scala and inject from multiple sources,

**What do you dislike about Gatling?**

It's using more JVM - so injecting many items seems to overload JVM. So, we might need to use distributed load.

**Recommendations to others considering Gatling:**

If you are planning to run a load test for millions of users, consider paid version. The free version is suitable for few thousand requests, and later the JVM gets overloaded.

**What problems is Gatling solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identified performance bottlenecks in the early stage and thus helped to prepare for production deployment more smoothly.

**Official Response from Diego Salinas:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Gatling! We're glad that you find it effortless to integrate with your pipeline and write scripts with Scala. We appreciate your insight on the JVM usage and the need for distributed load for handling many items.

For users planning to run extensive load tests, we recommend considering our paid version for optimal performance. We're glad Gatling has helped you identify performance bottlenecks early on, leading to a smoother production deployment.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with Gatling, please feel free to reach out. We're here to help and support your load testing needs!

Load Simulation
Functional testing

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Gatling?**

Gatling is a flexible framework written in scala. Out of the box it has incredibly powerful features and integrates seamlessly with your project structure as well as with your ci/cd. We used Gatling when we began transitioning from a monolithic architecture to a Microservice based. We were able to easily define a template and have a consistent testing pattern across our services. Reports are also easy to read and understand.

If you don’t have a java based project or dev team, there might be some ramp up on working with the Gatling framework. The investment on learning scala might not be for you.

**What problems is Gatling solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Gatling to validate performance requirements and concurrency for our public APIs. We also used it make sure our background services wouldn’t fall over due to load. We were able to create a test suite with Gatling which helped us make sure we never caused any negative impact to performance with new code changes or features.

**Official Response from Diego Salinas:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Gatling! We're thrilled to hear that you found our tool flexible and powerful for your performance testing needs during your transition to a Microservice architecture.
