The workspace is easy to use, and the particular way to interact with your team members with avatars is really fun and brings dynamism to interactions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some tools don't work very well in the browser version of Gather, like the draw tool when another person is sharing their screen, it doesn't work, but in the desktop version it works perfectly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I used to prefer working in person, but after using Gather Town, I think I actually prefer remote work. It recreates the office experience so well—everyone has their own space but can easily come together in common areas like meeting rooms. Everything feels seamless; you can share your screen, others can do the same, and there’s no need to juggle multiple apps. You just walk into a virtual room and instantly interact with whoever’s there, just like in a physical space. It gives you all the benefits of being in an office without any of the downsides. Hm, maybe the construction tool could be better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The 3 statuses - DND 🔴 (Do Not Disturb) - Busy 🟡 - Available 🟢
I can clearly tell when someone is available to talk or not.
Encourages team interaction when when textual communication just would not be efficient.
The fact that I can record meetings and now even transcribe them automatically.
The look and feel which makes it feel like a game, some of those 90s/2000s RPG games. And then work becomes fun and that’s awesome!
In a nutshell: Gather encourages collaborative and fun at work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Only one thing:
I do have occasional technical hiccups where my external USB-C-powered microphone is not working. This can be quite annoying. But unplugging it from my USB-C port does the job and then the internal MacBook Air microphone will have to do the job, which works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gather recreates the feeling of being in an office while working remotely. I can see where my coworkers are, whether they're chatting, busy, or free, and it makes it so much easier to hop over to their desk for a quick conversation without the hassle of scheduling a meeting. It feels natural—like how collaboration should work.
The ability to customize my "desk" adds a fun, creative touch to the virtual space, and I like switching it up for different seasons. It’s such a small feature, but it makes the workspace feel more personal.
Screen sharing for code pairing or presenting a demo works great! With Gather on my screen all day at work, it somehow tricks my brain into feeling connected and present, without the distractions of a physical office. For someone who believes remote work is superior for both productivity and work-life balance, Gather is the perfect tool to make that work style shine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I could have offered some more dislikes about Gather a year ago, however their development process is quick to resolve bugs and offer new features and most of those dislikes have been resolved! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mainly the customization. Being able to create your office, customize your company's logo, and your own desk seems incredible to me. It was very fun to have Halloween-themed avatars for a while. I also like that when we started using it, there was no pressure to use the paid version because 10 desks were enough for the team. It is very easy to use, and also fun. The first time we spent a lot of time customizing our avatars, and it was not difficult to integrate other team members into its use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
"Sometimes it consumes a lot of resources. Two people on the team sometimes have trouble using the platform for this reason." Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is easy to work with anyone; it is like you were in an office, everyone can have their space and gather there or at other spaces, like meeting rooms. It is all seamless, you can do your share screen and other people do theirs and everything without having to go around with different applications. You just walk in a room and you are interacting with the people there, like walking into a physical room. Really, really useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The canvas over share screens is really slow, even in fast computers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like the most is how easy and accesible it becomes to work with our colleagues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd love to have more ways of creating different office spaces. And I don't mean the desk customization or inside overall customization but instead being able to change the whole building to make it more as we'd like to have our physical space. There's a way to partially make that happen with interior customization of the space but having a complete make-over from the outside to the indoors space would be lovely. - Gather was already brilliant when I first used it. Brings a little fun to the table while providing excellent and seamless video/audio calls. For me it brings back a human touch to communication tools after soulless chat clients.
- Then started giving feedback and was shocked how quickly Gather implemented much of them and improved in other ways. Gather, as of now, does care about being a great tool and place for people.
- Support is super responsive and solved all my issues. One of the few companies that don't reply with irritating corporate jargon. I feel heard, understood and helped when I have an issue with Gather. Not that I have any left.
- Overall just a really pleasant and joyful experience. I highly recommend you give it a try 🙂 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing. While there are certainly some wishes (mainly music player for Apple/Spotify/YouTube playlist 🙏🏻), there aren't any bugs or issues that I can think of.
I tipically open Gather first thing, run and use the entire day without any issues and then log off at the then. This stability is very much appreciated from the app that I want to support what I do and not take away focus.
The chat features are a little simpler than competitors, but I hope this is by design. I think the true power of Gather is audio/video chat. If you have something to talk about now, come and talk to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gather enables great collaboration when I work remotely by simulating office features in a virtual world. Examples include having a desk and personalizing it, meeting rooms with chairs, and the ability to overhear conversations.
The interface for walking around the office is very intuitive—similar to the old Game Boy Pokémon games.
I love that it allows me to see who is meeting with whom and who is talking, even if I am not present in a meeting—similar to noticing an occupied meeting room in a real office. It brings some of the buzz of a physical office into the virtual space. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The web UI editor for the MapMaker tool to design your office is not as good as the desktop app but that's easily mitigated by using the desktop app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This week, one of my team members gave us feedback on how our company manages to be so efficient at eliminating communication noise. It’s as simple as walking up to someone’s desk, talking, and solving problems. This has been our reality since we started using Gather, which has seamlessly aligned with the culture we want to foster as a remote-working company.
Of course, the ability to customize our desks, avatars, office environment, and even unwind with the team through games and kart races within the platform also makes our daily routines more enjoyable and smooth. Another incredible feature of Gather is its integration with my Google Calendar. It keeps me informed about my meetings, allows me to schedule meetings in specific spaces directly within Gather via the Calendar, and sends the entire team there automatically.
There are countless things I love about this space—it's undoubtedly the coolest tool I’ve worked with in my six years of remote work!
Another highlight is the customer support. I forgot to download a recording, and they got back to me within 24 hours with everything I needed—super helpful! We use it every single day, and we love it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My only suggestion for improvement is actually more of a product adjustment. Sometimes we face difficulties turning on cameras during a meeting and need to restart the app. It can also be a bit heavy on less stable connections or certain devices. However, it doesn't significantly impact our day-to-day experience :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
