Gatekeeper makes it super simple to lock down computers based on proximity. A user walks away and their computer locks and when they come back it unlocks. It couldnt be any easier for the users and the support team at Gatekeeper is top notch and very helpful. We've used Gatekeeper in several challenging environments from auto dealerships, police departments and government offices. I'll continue to promote Gatekeeper to my clients. Due to the nature of the work at hand, there were several key challenges that we had to overcome: 1. we could not be limited to just one type of authenticator, 2. we could not change our shared PC workflow, and 3. we needed the solution to work without constant internet access. 1. Having authenticator options were important to our end users. GateKeeper supports three types of authenticators for computer logins: Bluetooth tokens (Halberd or Trident Smartphone app for iOS/Android), RFID/NFC cards, Email with OTP code. 2.We could not change our shared PC workflow due to the requirements of the tests that are being performed/monitored on said computer workstations. Someone in the morning might start the test, however someone on a later shift will have to sign into the same computer to monitor the same test. We needed a solution that would allow us to maintain this same exact workflow whilst also helping us identify who was actually signed in at any given time due to compliance requirements and accountability. GateKeeper has a special computer implementation called 'Kiosk mode' which was critical for our teams 2FA project. 3. The last bit may not be as important to others but if the internet were to go down for any reason, it was important that users could still login and out of their computers without issue. There's a locally cached database with last used credentials in the rare event your internet were to go down. ### 26. Cheat sheets and guides were customized for our project. Installation was guided and has been working without issue since day one of using the solution. I wish many of my other projects were as simple as GateKeeper. **What do you dislike about GateKeeper Proximity Authentication?** Trident iOS users have to bring the app up into the foreground when unlocking the computer but it isn't that bothersome after you get used to it. Instead of using multiple different tools, GateKeeper automates security for computers, passwords, and websites. Many websites we use have weak passwords that are shared too often. Now, GateKeeper lets every user log in with a key instead of typing many different passwords. This makes life easier since no one needs to call the help desk for getting locked out of their computers. There's no longer any excuse for unsecure computers and not being able to get into web accounts since all you need is your key. **What do you dislike about GateKeeper Proximity Authentication?** I wish the app did more like adding websites. **What problems is GateKeeper Proximity Authentication solving and how is that benefiting you?** Computers in the open without being locked by their last user. GateKeeper now locks the PC automatically without doing anything. Everyone was forgetting passwords to websites, getting locked out, and asking someone else to drop what they're doing to help - slowing down productivity. Now the Gatekeeper key lets users create complex and long passwords without every memorizing them. People log in to many website but don't log out. Can't really force them. Instead, GateKeeper locks the computer someone used to login to websites, removing access to the accounts that are still logged in. ### 38. The first thing is that you don't have to remember passwords anymore, just have your key fob with you as you would your smart card or building key. Second, the key works for both computer and websites. So with one key, any employee can get in to whatever computer and website needed. Lastly, the security is also automated in that the key automatically locks the computer when it's out of range. I recently updated from the Gatekeeper to their Halberd appliance, and the reliability has only increased my satisfaction in the reliability and support of users.
