The reason this is nice is that whenever a student leaves the school district, they can still use this software because it follows them around. As well as permanent files can be placed and left here for future use. Another awesome feature is that it works will all devices. Being able to sign on with my phone when I am on the go, and then on the computer when at work or at home is a beautiful feature to have the ability to use. Another positive side is how secure it is while keeping the classroom workflow that is expected of it. The filtration system when students send stuff to one another is also very amazing. With most software, they would use some sort of machine learning system in order to block the inappropriate content from being sent around which has the possibility of failing because no artificial intelligence system is perfect. With this software, however, a real person helps to filter the inappropriate data which is a very nice feature to even further ensure that it is safe for children to view and use. and even more than that, not only is the materials filtered by actual people, it is done in a 24/7 manner so that even when it's late at night the students cannot send inappropriate material to one another using this system. **What do you dislike about Gaggle?** It can be a little on the pricey side in comparison to other software that is out there. For a smaller school district, they might have more difficulty in buying the software. This can pose some sort of inability for it to be a widespread software. However, with constant monitoring, it is hard to make the software cheaper overall. **Recommendations to others considering Gaggle:** It is an amazing tool, I would highly recommend it if looking for safe software to use in your young adult programs. **What problems is Gaggle solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problem that is being solved using Gaggle in my application was for the safety of high school and middle school students. It helped to provide a safe form of communication across the board. ### 13. It's nice to have the ability to see what students are writing/journaling about whenever they involve self-harm/suicidal ideation. We've helped a lot of students get the extra support they need because of this. Overall, it is an incredible program that every school should use! **What do you dislike about Gaggle?** There isn't much that I dislike about it, it does what it is supposed to do and doesn't leave much to the imagination. The only thing that would be nice is if there was someway to see all of my Gaggle Reports in one place, but I'm an end user so I don't always see those things. **Recommendations to others considering Gaggle:** I haven't been a part of the setup process, but it is definitely an incredible program and easy to use once it is setup. The gaggle team also gives their opinion on the level of urgency with each email/document that is picked up. I really think this can be used well for any school or organization that is wanting to make sure their students/employees are safe! **What problems is Gaggle solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're helping students who might have otherwise fallen through the cracks get support with mental health struggles. We've realized how many students write/email about it for assignments and it gives us a great place to start checking in with those students who we didn't know were struggling. ### 14. Peace of mind knowing that student email is not only compliance filtered but safety monitored by real people. Has literally allowed for intervention into self harm and rapidly escalating suicide situations that could have easily been missed by fully automated solutions. **What do you dislike about Gaggle?** Sometimes causes delays in mail delivery, some false positives as the filter can be a little overzealous, although it does a great job of knowing which emails are assignment related, even those discussing sensitive topics like war, sex Ed, etc. Had some trouble scaling to load when COVID lockdown hit but recovered after a day or two. **Recommendations to others considering Gaggle:** There’s not much to say except buy it. It works and is relatively inexpensive, especially considering the ramifications of having such extensive monitoring and alerting into your students’ email. **What problems is Gaggle solving and how is that benefiting you?** Provides compliance filtering and safety monitoring of student email and cloud storage. We also use the service that allows anonymous reporting of harmful situations, bullying, drug use, etc. This greatly helps the admin and counseling teams in being proactive with student issues. We’ve been using Gaggle for over 10 years, during which time we’ve been able to intervene in multiple suicide situations, prevented self harm, helped many deal with bullying situation, dealt with vaping problems, etc. In time critical situations, where students may be harmed, Gaggle calls a designated call list repeatedly until someone answers, and in some extreme cases can resort to calling authorities. This service operates 24/7. ### 15. It’s helped me see how much children are exposed to at young ages and how it affects them in the long run. It also has helped me be able to identify and recognize when a child is in need. **What do you dislike about Gaggle?** I think it delves in to too much information about each person who uses it. The amount that it analyzes is astounding. It saddens me that we have to go so in-depth to see what it really happening to these kids. **Recommendations to others considering Gaggle:** Take the time to get to know the product. The more time you spend in it, the more opportunities you have to use it. **What problems is Gaggle solving and how is that benefiting you?** Understanding and knowing how prevent child depression. The details that it teaches you to look for are amazing. My number 1 benefit was better understanding of what these children are being exposed to and how they are reacting to it. ### 16. It makes it easy to identify words/phrases which would be considered inappropriate and gives administrators more oversight on students. **What do you dislike about Gaggle?** With my particular use case I could not find any significant drawbacks to the software. **What problems is Gaggle solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was testing out different student monitoring solutions to limit inappropriate content within the enterprise. Further, I enjoy ease of use and integration with other platforms we use. There are times when we have needed the product to provide information and functionality for a specific product and have had to build work arounds due to limitations. **Recommendations to others considering Gaggle:** Look carefully at customization offerings to ensure you are able to accomplish all processes without the need to develop extensive workarounds.
