Wordpress is incredibly flexible and customisable but comes with a constant time drain of testing and updating combinations of many different Wordpress plugins, just to keep things functioning. Plus, there is the responsibility and cost of managing your own tax and compliance. I started looking for a Merchant of Record to free up more of my time to focus on the creative side of our businesses. I researched the options and Fungies.io was the best fit for functionality and customisations within a store builder that you can connect to your own domain. The pricing model of Fungies taking a small percentage of your sales, instead of you paying a subscription for every environment and plugin is refreshing. You will always have payment gateway and accounting fees however you build your websites and apps, so this feels more symbiotic than the alternatives. Fungies support is very responsive and the developers are constantly working hard to bring new features requested by their community. Being an entrepreneur in the creative industries myself, Fungies platform gives me more freedom to expand, scale and test out and experiment with new business ideas. The only limitation is my imagination and the time to create things. **What do you dislike about Fungies.io?** I don't dislike anything about Fungies.io. The ability to customise every minute detail is obviously much more limited than Wordpress but so is any other website builder. Fungies developers are constantly adding new features and are obviously listening to what their community wants developed next. **What problems is Fungies.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fungies.io solves the burden of managing multiple Wordpress ecommerce stores and dealing with the associated tax and compliance. Being in the creative industries it is critical to have time to actually be creative. Now I have more time to focus on creating new products and testing out different business ideas, without having the limitation of the admin that working with Wordpress creates. ### 6. We use it daily and UI is practical and effective. There are lot of integration options for more technical users, it very easy to use and implement custom workflow by connecting via their API. After testing the platform we're onboarding more and more users through fungies, because their checkout is far more customizable, matching our branding better, their payouts are faster than from any other MoR. Their support as I already said is unmatched. And their platform just works, which you learn to appreciate, once you see what else is going on out there with other MoRs. It is easy to use, has good customization options, and you can even DNS a subdomain on your own website into it, basically creating your own web store. Plus, now Fungies is integrated with Shopify, meaning that this is the only platform where you could create a unified shopping experience between digital and physical goods, if you wanted to take that route. It's very impressive to see how dedicated the Fungies team has been to growing and improving the product over the last few months, and to see the shape it's already in. **What do you dislike about Fungies.io?** As mentioned, it's a young platform, so there are going to be bugs. Plus, it's not free, nor inexpensive, even at the lowest tier. This is not itch.io or GameJolt. At $19/month, it can be a major B2B investment, especially for indies. Think of it as needing around 1-5 sales/month to cover the cost, depending your game. If you think you can hit above that target, absolutely go for it. **What problems is Fungies.io solving and how is that benefiting you?** Fungies is creating a digital distribution platform that puts me firmly in control of my business. From letting me design my own product pages, supply my own Steam keys, and integrate external services like Shopify into the experience, while actually working to get eyes on my games, Fungies' active commitment to developer success absolutely makes them stand out in a very crowded market. I'm especially looking forward to playing around with the Shopify integration this year, to see if there are ways I can benefit customers who, say, buy a couple t-shirts with a free Steam key.
