The fees can be a little outrageous in my opinion. It was a bit difficult to navigate the fees if you've never sold a product with them before. After a longer period of time all of these fees come up and you just have to do some investigation in order to find out the reason for the charge. We sold via Shopify as well as on Amazon directly. There were some hiccups getting our Shopify backend to understand FBA, if that makes sense. Ended up working out ok, but sometimes we lost $ in the shipping calculations- what Shopify calculated for the customer to pay vs what we paid Amazon. I'm not sure which product to "blame" for this, but I'm sure many others have encountered this same issue. Something to ask Amazon support about if you are going to use Shopify and FBA together.

Our products were an odd shape, so we had an issue getting a fair storage price in Amazon's warehouses.

As a small, family-owned business, we felt like FBA fees in combination with Amazon's sales cuts really tore us apart. I think FBA might make more sense for a larger corporate sales structure. Also, in previous role, the stock management team didn’t like the fact that stock wasn’t sold, despite being in a different warehouse. Hard to keep track of where your stock is.
