It allows our content creators and fundraisers to create great looking content sections without our development team spending a ton of time on developing our own product. It provides a great image insert and video insert capability. We can also restrict what the user can do with it so that we can keep the formatting of our fundraising pages more consistent and polished. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** We've had some issues with weird edge cases like copying and pasting in content etc. However, Froala support has always been helpful in resolving these issues when they can. Basically, the insert worked, but the storage of the insert image was a problem. I still want to work on this issue at some point. It's a lightweight application, not invasive, but it's quite capable. It has a great variety of fonts. I can update and edit quickly and directly. You can really multitask with Froala and I know there's no need to be an expert to use it. We replaced markdown editor that was a bit of a pain to use to edit content of the sites with Froala editor. Our developers squealed internally with joy/adoration during integration. Froala worked pretty much out of the box and we added fancy Amazon S3 image handling on top. Being able to flip to HTML editor is an added bonus. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** Documentation - needs more clarity what settings are enabled/disabled by default, and if you need to add config what way is actually on or off. Nothing that a brief testing/trying out can't solve. There was one issue we faced about HTML changes not saved if you don't swap to visual editor. We found on Froala's Github that was a premeditated decision from Froala's team. It was causing issues, but this was solved with a bit of Javascript manipulation, took 30 mins to figure out. However, since they know there are some usercases where this is undesired, this should have become a Froala option. **Recommendations to others considering Froala Editor:** If you need a convenient visual editor for non-tech savvy users, Froala is the best tool I have found in 2019 to do the job. **What problems is Froala Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a rich text editor to provide panel to edit content on our consumer sites. We manage sites in the centralised admin panel. The actual users are our Support System folks, but in the future we plan to expose Froala editor to our end customers. We replaced markdown editor that was not the most efficient in handling text content on our sites. We needed the ability to upload images, add them easily in visual editor, as well as upload files. As a product requirements analyst, I was in charge of researching potential solutions and Froala was a very easy pick. Other tools didn't seem as well documented or maintained. Froala's pricing model also fitted our business plan. We currently have nearly 30 customer sites set up on our platform (Froala provides only text editing aspect). We will be migrating 470 sites in the nearest future. We found that Froala is so easy to use that we will not have any issues exposing Froala editor in our customer facing panel, as it's very easy to use (just add a bit of validation!). ### 12. The pricing is right and it really saved our project when I thought we were going to have abandon a WYSIWYG editor for our users. The features are abundant using plugins is easy. I really like the plugin ability, then on top of that you can actually make your own. The documentation is exceptional and then you also have a demo as well as other examples available to you. There is also a good size community that you can ask questions to. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** This is not a huge complain it is just based on our use case, but there is a tendency to be very strict when it comes to the HTML that it produces. However, this maybe related to plugins we have as well. There is a lot of information and it takes a while to take it all in. DON'T let this deter you! There are a lot of options that allow you to customize the look-and-feel as well as the behavior and tools available. The documentation is sufficient to get it working pretty quickly. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** The editor isn't the most stable WYSIWYG editor I've ever used. All software has bugs, but the problem we had with Froala is that when you find a bug, the Froala developers don't seem to care. They might acknowledge the issue you raise if you are lucky, but even if it's acknowledged, they likely won't take any action. It's great that users can record issues and bugs on the GitHub page, but that only has values if the company is going to listen to the bugs and take action on them. We found that most often, the bugs would be closed without any actual resolution, which was disappointing. The customer support also could use some improvement. In most of our customer support contacts, we didn't get rapid responses and often the issues we raised were not resolved adequately. **Recommendations to others considering Froala Editor:** Try it out and see if it works for you! If you just want something clean and simple, it may be a good option! WYSIWYG Preview option helps the user to review the content while content is being created is a extremely helpful feature. Out of the box video provider support such as youtube, and very easy extensible feature help us add more video providers. Which removes the need of adding embed code which is generally more tricky for non developer user where as just coping the URL is very simple for users. It has most of the features you'd expect to see in a rich text editor and is a powerful tool. I like the scope that the library allows for customisation - it's relatively straightforward to add your own custom buttons to the editor toolbar and associate them with your own functions, and I was easily able to implement the image uploading functionality so that images dragged and dropped into document editors by our users are automatically uploaded to our server. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** Version 3 of Froala removed the jQuery dependency, which is a good thing, but this changed the way the editor must be initialised in code. Not only did this mean I had to put in quite a lot of work to update our code base with the new syntax, but I also found that it's more difficult now to reference an existing, initialised instance of a Froala editor. Previously you could easily do this with jQuery, but now it's more tricky and the technique is not well documented. I would also suggest that the reliance on 3rd party libraries for certain features isn't ideal. Whilst some of them are very good, others are not, and in either case there's always the danger that the 3rd party product could cease to be maintained, rendering that feature unsupported. In particular I found implementing the TUI Image Editor for advanced image editing to be difficult, largely due to the poor documentation provided by the 3rd party developer. **What problems is Froala Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've created an enterprise CRM and are using Froala to allow our users to author letters and other documents for sending to clients. The documents they produce are converted to PDFs (using a different 3rd party library) and stored in our database. The recent version (v3) has a new fresh and clean design that is liked amongst our team and users. What I also like is that it is quite developer friendly. It it is plugin based, so you are able to avoid loading functionalities that you do not use which benefits performance. Froala is available for the most current Javascript frameworks and it can be customized. We tried out a couple of WYSIWYG editors in the early days of our application, now we sticked with Froala for a few years already because of the large amount of features and regular updates. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** Froala does it best to make the integration of the WYSIWYG editor developer friendly. However the integration and updates into our application did not come without struggles. If you have a quite complex application with heavy use of WYSIWYG editors don't expect it to be plug and play but be prepared to invest some time in testing and applying workarounds. Especially with the recent upgrade: we had to postpone it a few times because of issues. With Froala editor our users can customize the texts of their questions and more without any knowledge of HTML. Most of the user implementation was done by one of my developers but was as fast as you might want. In terms of end-users, they learn how to use very fast. I would say that is the best or at least one of the best WYSIWYG. The fact that is it loads really really fast because is ligthweight is awesome, you will like that in your page at the end of the day. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** I really dislike the trial version, don't know-how currently is working but I had a problem while importing some fonts in one of the staging servers, but the funny thing is that this didn't happen while working in production. So at the end of the day, I would say it is more of what I love than I dislike. I would say that pricing might be an issue if you want to really test this. **What problems is Froala Editor solving and how is that benefiting you?** The clean of the code was really great, the result code I mean. Most of these editors tend to be really messy and harm the SEO of your page. Also, inline capabilities are really neat and final users love it. Also, the fact that has a lot of plugins to integrate makes your life easier. That last thing I would say is that developer-friendly in all the sense of that phrase has a very adaptable API where you can do seamless javascript integrations that will help you to customize your editor. ### 20. It renders consistently, the support with Django via the django-froala-editor is perfect unlike Django-Summernote which can be painful at times. The fact that it just works with Django Admin along with any Django Form means you can create both custom UIs as well as admin UIs to handle HTML editor in a way that users find simple, fast and natural. **What do you dislike about Froala Editor?** The cost for licensing is very high compared to others especially if you are a self employed developer or a development house looking to use it on multiple projects. Other than that I can not fault it at the moment.
