I've been using the Fringe recognition system for our team, and it's been a mixed experience. On the positive side, the platform is very user-friendly, and I appreciate the ability to re-gift or send my Fringe points to other employees. While it's a good tool for recognizing employee efforts, the redemption choices could be improved to better suit everyone's preferences and provide more meaningful options at lower point values. I find the variety of redemption options on Fringe to be quite limited. Having choices like Amazon or Walmart would be much more convenient than the current abundance of subscription services.
Our Canadian team enjoys a wider range of choices, which gives them a more favorable view of the platform. Unfortunately, the limited options available in the US mean that Fringe isn't as motivating as it could be.
The team often compares it to similar programs at other companies that allow them to purchase branded gear or gift certificates for major retailers. The running joke here is that you can use your points to get a new set of windshield wipers or subscribe to a service you never wanted or needed.
Perhaps if our company were more generous with providing points, the other redemption options would be more convenient. I had saved my Fringe points for over two years before redeeming because there weren't small redemption options that were worthwhile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
