What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

Ability to interact with clients directly without middleme. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

The site has become a scam site. The problem comes in when you try to withdraw earnings from the site. All manner of problems arise from this point.

The site also accepts projects that violate their terms and conditions, and to show how sneaky and crooked the site administrators are, they will wait until the work is complete and everyone is paid so that they can hold all the project funds refusing to refund the project owner or even pay the freelancer. Whenever you raise any issues with the site administrators they will claim that you violated their terms and conditions without providing further details.

Basically, this is a scam site that seems to be winding down its operations and its taking casualties with it. Avoid this site at all costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

Freelancer.com is not solving any problems for anyone. Basically, it has become a website where the admins steal from both employers and freelancers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

I only find drawbacks in using that site: losing time on a site that cannot provide any serious service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

Absolutely not serious. Most of the offers are either extremely vague (impossible to propose anything serious), or completely unrealistic (a few days paid 10$ for something that would normally require months or even years for a whole team of engineers). Furthermore the proposals from the freelancers are completely inadequate for 99% of them, pretending to be experts but with little experience, in other fields and with other programming language, with extremely low prices.

What I dislike the most is the automatic ranking system: how an expert engineer with 30 years of experience can be always ranked last, behind absurd offers by inexperienced people, whatever the price is (even if proposing the lowest price)? It seems impossible to get a first job for new-comers with this absurd system.

This site is neither good for firms eager to hire developers who can actually provide them with viable solutions or for real programmers looking for a job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

It doesn't solve any problem, and only makes firms and freelancers waste time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

They used to be a good place to find talent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

They literally stole money from me. They claimed I was trying to pay outside of the platform (I wasn't) and without even a notice, I saw a $368.58 charge on my bank. Called it in to the bank as fraud. They used to be a good platform too. Disappointing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

Low cost freelancers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

I have not seen any due to my horrific customer experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

If anyone is looking for a platform to use for Open Talent programs, I recommend you NOT use Freelancer.com. I opened a position on their site, and invited the hiring manager for that position to the website. Without any notice, Freelancer.com closed my account, and only after multiple inquiries finally shared with me a vague reason which had to do with referral credits, which I never intended to ask for, or receive. I THINK that is what is about, but I still cannot get a straight answer from them. If you are looking for a platform to partner with, know that this site can close your account, essentially firing your employees without notice, and then use a vague unsubstantiated reason to do so. Had anyone reached out to me beforehand, I could have shared my experience, and I believe we would have resolved it.

In addition, I posted a contest which had beautiful submissions. I now cannot award any of those contest winners due to this egregious behavior. For this, to the submitters, I am sorry to you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

Nothing, They act the way whichever brings them more money! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

Here is the case which makes me hate them. I recently have had a dispute case with a client. In this stage I have put all the reasonable proofs to show what the reality is. The proofs were all in the chatbox as well as external sources. Nevertheless, they found me as if I have done nothing for the project. The main reason behind it was the client who pays them a lot more than me. It is very OBVIOUS why they made such decision. Plus, I was not able to leave a review on the client while he did! All in all stay away from them! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

Actually they ruined the cases instead of solving them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

->High Platform Fees: Freelancer take a very high platform fee after the project is done which is fixed in amount. For big projects it is fine but for small projects, it looks like a large amount.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

It's good is you want to find a skilled freelancer who can do somethig for yyou for a fair price Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

I signed up to freelacer.com this July as a buyer to find talented creators who can create content for my business. At first, everything was fine. I found a skilled freelancer who successfully completed 5 small projects for me, and I successfully paid for these projects through the freelancer.com payment system. I was completely satisfied with his work and all the payment processes on freelancer.com and decided to hire this freelancer for a larger project.

It took us a month to complete this project, and the freelancer had to reject all other orders and projects from other companies. A month later, when I was trying to pay my freelancer $1,400 for a project, something unbelievable happened. Freelancer.com took my money from my PayPal account and froze it on the platform. They started telling me that my account was suspicious and I needed to go through an identity verification procedure. When I asked why everything was fine before and all payments were successful, but now my account suddenly became suspicious, they didn’t really answer me.

I resigned myself and began to go through the verification procedure. I had to go through this process several times, but every time something was wrong, and they were always unhappy with something. First, they told me that my IP address did not match my place of registration, and they were forced to reject my request, which is outrageously ridiculous. I can be registered in one city and go to another city within my country on a business trip or vacation, this is not prohibited by law, and they do not have the right to refuse my request for such a reason.

Now they simply reject my verification requests without giving a reason. I have already uploaded all my personal documents several times which are real and genuine, taken photos of my face next to my passport, and provided documents that show the legitimacy of my business. But for them, something keeps going wrong. When I ask the support team to explain the situation and name the reason, they constantly evade and do not say what is wrong. The support is not helpful at all and behaves like a robot, responding with template canned answers.

As a result, it turns out that they withdrew a considerable amount of money from my account and do not give it to the freelancer because they do not want to accept my verification requests. They don't return the money and keep it for themselves, which is like a regular robbery if you ask me. My freelancer worked hard this whole month and didn't get paid as a result, and I lost my money as a result.

So I don't recommend the freelancer.com platform, use UpWork or Fiverr instead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

The good thig about freelancer is that it has a very large userbase, tons of projects to bid on and tons of freelancer to find. I also like the filter and search section, I can broadly choose the projects filters and then it will remember it. The platfrom is also lot cheaper than competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

One of my biggest complaint is the quality of projects and their curation, (funny they themselves mentions that be aware of scam). These non genuine projects waste a lot of time. The other thing that is bad is the overall website navigation, (except the peoject filter). I bet most people using it regularly will not be able to the sone basic options if I ask Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

Freelancer has huge userbase, and a lot of relevant projects that we can bid on. And is comparatively cheaper than competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Freelancer.com?

I like that Freelancer.com has many freelancers with different skills, such as web design, PR outreach, copywriting, app development etc.

As a Freelancer, freelancer.com has one of the quicker payout times, which is as little as one day if your balance is $30 or more.

Searching for work to quote on according to skill and price is easy.

You can hire freelancers according to their geographical location, language or freelancer level.

The customer service team is thorough. They constantly review incidents and resolve them amicably.

Has meausures to curb fraud. It is possible to minimize the risk of dealing with unscrupulous customers who pay a deposit then vanish after obtaining what they want because you can on accept jobs from clients who have verified their payments, identity, address and bank details. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Freelancer.com?

Many jobs may require you to be a preferred freelancer to be eligible to quote.

If you do not subscribe to a membership, you will get very few or no jobs to do.

You spend a lot of time bidding without getting awarded jobs. On average, 30 to 50 bids before successfully getting awarded one.

There are a lot of spammers who post fake jobs. Fraudsters on the platform also try to lure users away to other communication channels not monitored by freelancers, such as WhatsApp and Skype.

It is not easy to hire or be hired instantly in comparison to platforms like Fiverr. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Freelancer.com solving and how is that benefiting you?

Freelancer provides access to millions of freelancers and creatives from around the world to provide their skills on demand which makes it easy for me to hire experts such as graphic designers, blog editors and PR Outreach specialists. Hiring them inreases my productivity, capacity to make the most of marketing efforts and generally to grow the companys presence online Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
