## FontBase Reviews
  ### 1. Perfect for sharing a library with several people

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2025

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

The "watching folder" function allows you to stream the contents of a folder and manage activations. This enables 2 or more users to share a font library on Dropbox, for example. This option allows you to manage the organization within the folder yourself. Thus, if you decide to change software, you never lose your organization.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

Grouping by family is very poor. It would be necessary to add the possibility to group the elements manually.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fontbase helps me share a unique font library.

  ### 2. FontBase is an ideal solution for multiple PC users.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter R. | Director of Development, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2022

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

As a multi-PC user, I like easy access to all of my fonts regardless of whether I am at work, home, or wherever. FontBase does a great job of not only organizing and managing my font libraries but also allows me to sync those fonts to any device with the software installed. I also lhow way you can easily integrate with Google Fonts, and activate and deactivate fonts easily. I am overall very impressed with with softwareware.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I will say it was not intuitive when I started using it. I was initially going to give it 8 stars when I first was using it, but over time I have realized that it works amazingly and my assumptions were the issues with the UI, not the design.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main issue it resolves is having access to all the fonts I want regardless of where I am. It also has an additional benefit that I can de-activate fonts after using them so that I don't bloat my hard drive with font files, or bloat my list of fonts with one-off fonts used for certain brands or for a style of document that I don't normally work with.

  ### 3. FontBase is a dream for designer. Best Font Manager

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harsh D. | User Experience Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2022

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

FontBase is a boon to a designer. You can search any font in it. It has the most extensive library. You can also change the style of the font if you require. It is fast and has a beautiful UI.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I've been using Fontbase for the past few weeks and haven't found any issue yet. I will update later if I find any. It's free and quite easy to use.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fontbase is a font Manager which is very useful for designers as we designers are always looking for different font styles to suit our design. It's a very good tool to manage our fonts

  ### 4. Simple Organization for Fonts

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy S. | Development Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

What I like about FontBase is the simplicity of the app. Fonts are easily organized in the sidebar by main folders and nested folders. Enabling and disabling fonts is a breeze by clicking on the green or open dot next to the font. The ability to preview the font's characters is beneficial as well. It allows you to test the look and feel of the font before activating it for your design program.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

There's not much to dislike about FontBase. I went with FontBase because it's free. The only thing that would make me even happier with the app would be auto-activation. I know this is a feature of the paid version though, so I could upgrade. I don't use the app enough to have a need for a paid version. For what the free version is, it does all I need. If I were doing design on a daily basis and had a need to enable/disable fonts all the time, I would definitely want the paid version.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I'm solving with FontBase is the need to enable and disable specific fonts for design projects. When you have clients that send packaged fonts, you want to be able to organize them to each specific client. When we start to work on a client project, we have the ability to enable just their folder. When we're done with the project, we can disable their folder. The paid version will enable and disable the client fonts for you. I've worked with expensive font apps in the past, but FontBase does almost everything they do, all while being free, or at most $3 per month. You can't beat the price and features of FontBase.

  ### 5. Having any font on the go..!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karan G. | Interior Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2022

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

It provides a wide variety of Font styles and has a very sleek UI for that too. It is easy to set up and use.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

Nothing too big to dislike but there's a suggestion to add more categories or group fonts in more different categories.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Fontbase on my machine so that I can get fonts for every other different work and requirement, it is fast and hassle-free. Also, it provides much of it for free which is perfect.

  ### 6. Great for font organization, but takes some time to set up

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter R. | Director of Development, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

As someone that does a fair amount of brand management in the development world, as well as UI/UX design, it is nice to be able to organize fonts for projects into easy-to-find and use (and share) groupings. I really appreciate the apps and the ability to connect to some of the more popular foundries. I am an Adobe user and its integration with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is pretty great. I also like how the recently used font list gives me a good idea of the ones I use a lot, and maybe ones I never use and could probably get rid of.

In addition, the integration with Google fonts is fantastic and really helps those that use Google Fonts regularly.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

Not a whole lot. The search is pretty powerful and there are a lot of great tools. Getting set up at first took some time, mostly because I have thousands of fonts available, but as you begin using it, I just started slowly making collections based on projects, and over time it organically organizes a lot of your fonts.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, it is just easy to share collections with my team or other teams, and it helps me just be organized. It has also, by proxy, helped me to limit my font spending. It is a lot easier for me to identify typefaces and styles of typeface I use so I can often find similar matches to whatever typeface is making me swoon at the moment and use that instead. Especially since most of the fonts I do have are licensed for multiple media types. That gets spendy!

  ### 7. Great font library for creatives

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caner A. | Production lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I use before most of the font library softwares but fontbase is really different. First of all it has a nice and touchy design and very good view for seeing and selecting fonts. You can add folders, and organize them. You can create watch folders and you can forget the software at background work. I think this should be what makes a good software good. Another beauty is that you can access the google font family directly and make font selections easily without using any internet browser. I'm seriously amazed that such a good program also offers its best features for free. It also has a paid membership and you can use more of its features by paying a small amount per month. I've been using the free version for 1 year and still very happy. I recommend it to everyone. Especially if you don't want to get lost in fonts, it's an application that will save you a lot.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

It wouldn't be right to say I don't like it, but maybe the only issue that will make it even better is that it is not integrated into a cloud system. perhaps you can create a live font archive by uploading the watched folder to a cloud system and introducing it to fontbase on each device.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to have a mess by searching the internet for fonts and extracting them from zips. Fontbase saved me from all these troubles. Now I forgot even the existence of the default font folders.

  ### 8. Free Version seems to work well

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristine N. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2022

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I like that you can sort the fonts into categories. So when I'm looking for a particular type of font, I can just look through those to find the right fit.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

If I forget to open the FontBase application on my computer, my fonts won't load when I open my files. I guess that's how it's supposed to work, but it bugs me every time!

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

If you need a free or low-cost tool, this one seems to work well.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FontBase helps me to sort a large number of typefaces on my computer so they are easier to find. It takes a while to sort them indivdually. I wish it would auto-sort them to some extent.

  ### 9. Good Entry-Level Font Management App

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott F. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

FontBase is quicker than most fonat management programs, both on starting up and in running searches, as well as identifying newly added fonts. The plugins for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are also speedy in identifying and activating missing fonts.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I really don't like the idea of making a font management program a subscription product, for any price-point. I also have issues when it comes to dealing with fonts in multiple folders in multiple locations as you cannot easily identify which assets are in which folders because of how the app automatically names the libraries and won't let you change them.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have an archive of 18,000+ fonts on my main server, and FontBase has done an adequate job at helping me get started with Digital Assets Management as a whole. I've been able to speed my computer up considerably by keeping the number of installed fonts to a minimum and using FontBase to auto-activate fonts as I need them based on program calls.

  ### 10. Great font manager!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin M. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I like that it's a lightweight desktop application and opens in seconds. Sometimes I open a logo file in illustrator and realize I'm missing a font. With Fontbase on my taskbar it activates about 2000 custom fonts on my system without having to install them. I actually use this product frequently and it's a lifesaver.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I love most of the features I just wish it had a more open folder system. I'd like to associate specific fonts with a particular client or purpose, perhaps a note section tied to each font. Other than that, this app works perfectly.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instantly activated fonts not installed on my system is a huge help during a design project. Searching by glyphs and thickness of each character is a huge plus when you have thousands of fonts on your system. The best part is that when I need to download a font, I just need to unzip and drag the font file into the desktop app, and once I activate it, I'm done!

  ### 11. A very useful font browser

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lara M. | Diseñadora Gráfica Senior, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2022

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

It helps to find useful sources and preview your application, complementing the designer's work well. You can choose before downloading, very useful

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

It is not really comfortable to view the fonts on my computer, Something that I often use in my day-to-day tasks

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

use it as a new search font explorer, not as a preview of your existing fonts

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the benefit of quick search and download, with a correct preview of what I hope to find or achieve with a dream job. As a drawback, I have observed that it does not have a preview of the existing sources on the computer to make a comparison before carrying out a job, which is what I expected from the product.

  ### 12. Local Font Library? Shame on you!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo D. | Producción Audiovisual GSI Studios, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

By far the best from FontBase is its quick system performance. By far the only Font Manager so robust and so light at the same time with your hardware.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

Almost nothing, maybe that there is a paid upgrade. But honestly, it is so cheap that it doesn't bother me now that i think about it.

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

Just try it! and you will never go back to your system loading default fonts again.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When you are working with so many clients or different sets of circumstances in graphic design, usually need a plethora of fonts at your disposal and unless you have an incredible big system to work with both in disk and ram, you will encounter the boot-up and loading times excruciatingly slow because of so many fonts installed. With FontBase
not only it is light with your system, but it will let me search and preview the font before loading it; then when i know which one i want to use i load that particullar font or set of fonts and when im done ill turn them off again, saving me tons of time and tons of memory in my workflow.

  ### 13. Really good and simple to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy R. | Business Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

Especially for PC, the lack of ability to categorize fonts becomes increasingly cumbersome, especially when you have a library of thousands of fonts. So, Fontbase does just that, allowing you to create "folders" with customized labels, making finding your fonts easier.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I did find that with the large number of fonts that I had, Fontbase would slow down and would sometimes take a while to get started. Once it's running, though, the issue doesn't seem to be a problem.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do some design work, and as anyone who has done design work knows, finding the appropriate font is extremely important. So, as most designers do, I collect fonts like a lunatic. I can have thousands of active fonts in my collection, and FontBase allows me to manage them. Using FontBase makes it so that I can quickly sort through fonts in Illustrator or Photoshop because it allows me to package them up into categories, which you can't do otherwise.

  ### 14. FontBase is both quick and user friendly.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I love the ease of use. This is a great software that is very user-friendly and will work with all platforms - which is very handy as I use a PC in the office and a MAC when working remotely.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I don't like that the assets are automatically named when trying to download/save into folders. I like to name them myself before saving so I can easily identify them when needed.

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

Try it out! The integration with Photoshop is great, there is a lot to choose from, the user interface is very easy to learn and user-friendly. You can get a free version to give it a try and I think you'll like!

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I run an Early Childhood Center and the teachers are always needing things printed for their rooms and I love that I can use fun fonts that make their classrooms look much nice and more fun!

  ### 15. Is FontBase necessary with Adobe Fonts?

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark R. | Chief Pixel Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I like that FontBase can automatically open fonts in a document if the app is open.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I don't particularly appreciate paying monthly for the use, but it's cheaper than Extensis Suitcase

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

With TrueType fonts being phased out, Adobe font's maybe what I only need to use. And it's included with my Creative Cloud subscription.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fonts in my document can be loaded when I open the document InDesign or Illustrator. I don't need to have all my fonts open on my computer.

  ### 16. Font Base is a Beautiful way to Organize your fonts.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

• FontBase has a beautiful, modern, and sleek user interface. It has a bit of a minimalistic feel.
•The app is very lightweight. It opens and loads quickly. It is very responsive and does not lag when moving between functions.

It could also be helpful in playing around with fonts for a long-form project like a book or textbook.
• The free version has a lot of features.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

•I do wish FontBase automatically categorized fonts into types like serif or script when you import them in.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing fonts and planning for projects. Experimenting with fonts and discovering unique and unexpected font pairings for projects.

It is always hard to decide on fonts, so it helps me to work faster, and be more efficient.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

I like the search bar and the way that Google fonts are already integrated. I haven't jumped the shark for the paid version yet on my personal machine but at $3 that is a steal.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

I hate the start-up. with the annoying ad that gets in the way of using the app immediately. I have also seen that the integration with Adobe isn't always that seamless. I have had my apps crash on me and it is hard to tell whether FontBase was the culprit or strictly Adobe.

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

make sure you set up proper A-Z folders and organize everything propr to using. It will make things easy for you in the future!

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like the user interface and how easy it is to import different fonts using the drag & drop method. FontBase is robust and light at the same time.

The free version has limited features and the upgraded version (Awesome) is only 3$ per month for a full set of features.

I like that I can quickly add fonts and activate them on the fly. The price is right.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

It required plugins to operate in different software versions for me, which is a bit of a hassle. Also, because my system is older, I cannot use the latest version of the product. It doesn't work so well with Office on my system... Office won't allow the freedom you expect to have with fonts. I wish Fontbase could override those limitations in WORD, for example.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The interface is easy and clear to use.

  ### 27. Great way to manage your fonts

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2021

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

The UI is clean and intuitive, it's easy to navigate organized groupings if fonts. creating groups for each clients font stack helps streamline the process.

The only thing I do not like is that you can not manage the sources on your own. This could help when looking for the desired source, it would be even faster.

  ### 49. Makes font pairing a breeze!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey H. | Receptionist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about FontBase?**

Fontbase easily downloads and is super easy to use. It quickly uploads all system fonts if you ask it to. Uploading recently downloaded fonts is a breeze too -- either upload manually or drag and drop in the window. Once your desired fonts are uploaded, you can play around and pair fonts to create the perfect design. It's nice to be able to see all your fonts in one place and picks ones that perfectly compliment the other.

**What do you dislike about FontBase?**

In the interface where you can play around and pair fonts, the drop down menu does not allow you to preview fonts. This is really inconvenient because you basically have to go in with the names of the fonts memorized. In my opinion, this defeats the purpose of the tool entirely. I want to be able to see the fonts in the menu when I'm pairing them up with others.

**Recommendations to others considering FontBase:**

It's a great way to keep fonts organized. Great for graphic designers. Subscribe to their premium service "Awesome" if you're a designer and want to have access to more helpful features.

**What problems is FontBase solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create a lot of flyers for office events, and I make a lot of signs. Choosing the right font is incredibly important to draw attention and attract people to your event. Sometimes I need the fonts I use to be bold and compelling, and other times fun and playful. Using Fontbase allows me to keep track of all the special fonts I've downloaded, and even has a tool that lets me pair them together to see what looks best. I can test as many out as I like. I am able to create flyers and signs and invites that people absolutely love! And I feel great about my work.
