## Follett Destiny Library Manager Reviews
 ### 1. Easy for Students and Staff to Find, Hold, and Identify Books

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth W. | District Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It is easy to use and students and staff can find their own books and place them on hold. The visual images of the books help the students to know what they are looking for at home when a book is overdue or in the library.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The constant updates and admin password . We lost ours and cannot find it so it is difficult to update students. Follett has not been easy to reach out for this.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ai and the popular books allow us to show the students what they will enjoy and what books they have out. Seeing the cover allows both the students and myself to quickly and easily find the books they need or have returned but I did not check them in. By correctly tracking in house use, my statistics are more accurate for the administration.

 ### 2. Intuitive and Easy to Use for Managing Library Resources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara H. | District Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

What I like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager is its ease of use. It is very intuitive, which allows me to quickly navigate the system, manage resources, and support students and staff effectively.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

While Follett Destiny Library Manager is effective overall, there are areas that could be improved. Specifically, increased functionality at the admin level would enhance system management and usability. In addition, enabling district users to share lists with non-district users would support greater collaboration and extend access to valuable resources.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager solves the challenge of managing multiple school libraries by offering a centralized system for inventory, circulation, and reporting. It has been especially beneficial, making it easier to efficiently oversee and support 23 school libraries, while also helping standardize our library catalog and services across the district, improving consistency and access for all users.

 ### 3. Fair Pricing and Solid Support for Managing School Libraries and Resources

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

We use Destiny in our elementary schools for keeping track of our library books and equipment. Our district also uses the resource side of it to manage the textbooks and equipment that students check out in our secondary schools. We are self hosted, which sound like it is a good thing because of issues with performance that I see in the librarian facebook groups that I belong to. Pricing is fair for each location. We have a person who is our point of contact and can handle most issue that arise in our district. We do not use the AI features within the software because it uses a different service than what is approved by our district.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

When there are fixes or changes that need to be put in place it seems like we have to wait for a full update instead of patches that could be used to update for smaller but frustrating issues. Sometimes it seems like Follett forgets that some users in elementary schools are only 5 years old. The system is geared more towards older users and it can be frustrating to try and use it with K-2nd graders.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the issue of keeping track of the items in our library that are checked out. It provides a detailed account of the inventory that is at each location. We have had damage (nature or criminal) done in buildings in our district and it helps to provide costs for insurance purposes. Sometimes we have students who are looking for a specific books and the interface allows us to look at what we have in each school and makes it possible to borrow from schools without having to put out an email requesting if "anyone" has X book. In stead we can email specific locations and request the items.

 ### 4. Useful Features Marred by Connectivity Issues

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gidget M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I really like the ability to see students in a classrooms with their images for checkout. Being able to look at an image of a student and know that's who I have in front of me makes the checkout process more personalized when I have hundreds of students in my school.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Online hosted service is trash. The fact that we cannot go backwards and host our own data is frustrating. The updates that they have done recently, while interesting and innovative, have caused the program to quit, and I have had more unhappy faces on my screen because of the connections not working in a timely manner. I don't know, but then I have to quit out of the program and restart, or I see a blank screen. I'm really not happy with the current Follett Destiny Library Manager.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Follett Destiny Library Manager to manage book holds, checkouts, popular titles, and student history. It provides insights on circulation trends and helps locate library materials efficiently when it works.

 ### 5. Easy to Use and Does Everything I Need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula B. | Director of Library Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It is easy to use and does everything I need it to do.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

If you want me to be very picky, it is a very small point of irritation, but I would like the previous search terms to still be in the search bar because I usually just need to add to my search terms to get the results I need. I really don't have any major issues overall.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is an excellent resource for me to catalogue, and also for our students and faculty to search. for books. I appreciate that it is easy for our students in particular to sign out books.

 ### 6. Efficient Library Management with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I find Follett Destiny Library Manager efficient and appreciate that it is rarely down. It's fairly easy to use and doesn't have a steep learning curve. The customer assistance is fairly good, which is important since our librarians are really busy and need quick support to continue supporting kids.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Updates to the system happen at inconvenient times, like the beginning of the school year or when we're in the middle of teaching students how to use it. It would be more helpful for these updates to happen over the summer. Additionally, during the initial setup, we lost all of the circulation and usage data from our previous platform, which was disappointing.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Follett Destiny Library Manager for efficient check-in and check-out systems. It's easy to use, rarely down, and offers good customer assistance, which helps our busy librarians operate smoothly without interruptions.

 ### 7. Easy to Navigate, but Customer Service and Multi-Site Support Fall Short

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sara S. | Cataloger & Archivist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It is relatively easy to navigate and you can usually find what you are looking for if you don't already know where it is. Records are easy to read.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Customer service is horrible. They assume you do not know anything about the product even when you tell them your level of understanding. Library Manager is very obviously not built for a school district with multiple sites and suggestions to help with this have not been integrated. The site logs me out every day around 4:10pm, even when I am actively working within it.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a catalog so it at least does that for us.

 ### 8. Follet Destiny, solid and reliable if a bit old and clunky

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph V. | System Support Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Destiny Library Manager works well enough for tracking books as they get checked out and assigning fines as needed. Support has always been quick to assist and great to work with.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The interface is old, outdated, and clunky. Setting up reports to do what we need is an exercise that always takes several attempts. Updating features requires a lot of digging through menus and submenus.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to manage both our library and our bookstore. It allows us to quickly assign books to kids and fines as needed.

 ### 9. Great multi-school search and dashboard, but the catalog UI feels dated

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Libraries | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like being able to search several schools in my district at once. I like that our local managers can do some customization to make it work for our school. I like the dashboard where I can see quick stats about my school's circulation and the read alikes for each book that are in my library.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I sometimes feel like it doesn't look very modern or up to date. I wish the Destiny Discover catalog was more modern or exciting looking, it still feels very boxy to me. Sometimes the big updates that they do break a lot of things.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us keep track of our digital and physical materials easier, especially across such a large district. I like that our Destiny rep can generate a lot of specific reports for me.

 ### 10. Straightforward Check-In/Out with Handy Sound Customization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh H. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

For the most used functions (check in/out), the process is fairly straightforward. Students can scan their id and the book's school barcode to check books out. I also like that I can change the sounds the computer makes when students check items out.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I have tried to change the screen time out function but to no avail. The screen times out and I have to log in again.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need a software to help me keep track of items, process new items and get rid of old/expired/damaged items and FDLM does just that.

 ### 11. Easy to Use for Checking Books In/Out, Adding New Titles, and Creating Labels

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It is easy to use and it was not hard to find everything I need in the software. I find it easy to login and get books checked in and checked out. I can also enter new books and create labels

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I wouldn't say That there is anything I dislike about it. There are a lot of things that I have not learned how to use yet so hopefully as time goes on I will learn more about all of the options and benefits of this software

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me maintain the collection of books in our library and I can keep track of missing books and search books that are requested. I think it runs very smoothly and effectively

 ### 12. Easy for Patrons and Customizable Across Sites

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

For the most part, the end user (patrons) part is pretty easy yo understand. It is customizable for each site so it can look different between elementary and high school students.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I don't like having to wait 6 months or more for the next update to correct issues that are discovered with a recent update.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel like if you host your own server, then you don't get all of the "extra" benefits as hosted clients...for example, reports. I do feel like they are now starting to look more at programming requests and the number of votes they are given by clients to decide on some of the things we would like to have available in the software.

 ### 13. Simplifies Library Management with Ease

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I use Follett Destiny Library Manager to run my K-12 library. It effectively stores MARC records, tracks circulation, and handles inventory, which helps organize my library materials in a way I could never do without it. What I like most is that it is easy to use for both me and my students.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The search features could be improved. When young students, who don't spell well, try to search, Destiny cannot recognize what they are trying to say. These kids are used to Google, which can predict their misspellings.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Follett Destiny Library Manager to organize my library materials in a way I could never do without it.

 ### 14. Easy to Learn and Get Up to Speed—Even Without Instructions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prisha B. | District Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I was given no instruction when I started in my library. I had to figure the software out myself and I love how easy it was to get everything figured out.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Sometimes searches are too particular. If I do not have something exactly like it is in the system, I can not find it.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Without it, I have no way to keep my library up and going

 ### 15. Fast Checkout Makes the Student Library Experience More Efficient

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The fast checkout process makes the student library experience more efficient and lets students use the library even during the short time between classes.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The timing of recent updates has impacted students’ ability to find materials and access their personal accounts. Additionally, it has been challenging to understand how to create reports and delete records across multiple catalogs within the school district.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many students are drawn to specific genres when they read and don’t always look for books by subject area. By using the visual catalog, they can more easily find and locate books that match their interests.

 ### 16. Helpful Automatic Overdue Notifications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Milly P. | K-12 librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The interface of Destiny Discover, and the automatic overdue email notifications.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

If a patron uses the filters to refine the search results, the filters will be there, active forever, if the person forget to remove them. I hate that. I wish there was a default search mode that would automatically remove all filters

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reports are paramount; the overdue notifications are the best solution for me! I love it and do not to worry too much about the overdue books. We just needed to talk about it to the school community and ask for respect and collaboration

 ### 17. Enhanced Interface, Efficient Library Management

Follett Destiny Library Manager helps me manage the collection and users, optimizing my time for library resources and equipment. Additionally, the improved interface allows me to efficiently locate collection reports.

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I use Follett Destiny Library Manager to keep track of books on loan and manage patron status efficiently.

We've used Follett Destiny Library Manager since 2007. I loved the update of Destiny Discover many years ago and our District has embraced using Destiny as a central hub for all resources.

and it's not very intuitive to build or edit reports.

It streamlines cataloging and circulation and keeps track of our data and analytics on usage.

 ### 29. Love Reports and Tracking, Dislike Safety Upgrade

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Becky H. | School Librarian/Computer Lab Teacher, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I love that it keeps track of the books I have out and has many reports that help me in my librarianship. It is very easy to use once you learn how to complete the different items. It is used every day,and customer support is great, too.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The newest update no longer allows me to stay signed in for periods of time (longer than an hour). Nor can I have the computer remember my password, so any substitute that comes in has to have the password to get in (which compromises safety).

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer have to use my memory to try to remember who has what book. I can also easily see when books were checked out and who has them.

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I have easy access to student records. It is web-based.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

EVERYTHING! It's clunky, takes 18+ steps to get a book on a shelf, the patron search function is stupid and printing labels is insane.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it's not solving problems- it's a badly created software that needs completely redone.

 ### 38. Follett Destiny Suite is A-plus for my school library!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jill O. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Suite makes library managment a cinch. Everything is there and the interface is easy to use and intuitive. Customer service is top notch.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The software sometimes will not boot up. Our organizational techs most frequently tell us it is an issue on the Follett side.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The automatic messaging for overdue materials is very helpful and appreciated.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for the positive feedback! We're glad to hear that Follett Destiny Suite is helping to streamline your library management. The automatic messaging for overdue materials is just one of the many features designed to make your job easier.

 ### 39. It has been a very pleasant experience due to the ease of use and the saving of time with its tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ricardo Andrés O. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I love that it is such a friendly interface; All the modules of the software are intuitive and it actually helps a lot with the overall management of the library. Another point in favor is the good reception by the school's users, both students, teachers and employees in general.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I don't find anything negative about the tool itself, but I would really like an app in which everything related to searches and loan and return of materials could be done directly.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problems that it helps me solve are those related to the inventory of books, access to accurate and timely information by users, library management and access to a large number of resources including the purchase of digital books, which I value a lot. The benefits are many, but mainly related to time, the ease of managing and entering the different modules, the type of information that is shared with users, the large amount of existing resources as well as the fast and timely support by part of the company's staff.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Ricardo! Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We are thrilled to hear that you find the interface user-friendly and the software intuitive for library management. Your feedback about wanting a mobile app for easier access to library functions is noted and will be shared with our development team for consideration. We are glad to hear that the software has been beneficial in solving inventory, information access, and resource management challenges for you. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to provide you with excellent service.

 ### 40. The Best Solution for Our School Library

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer D. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager is easy to use and regularly maintained. Although it meets our needs out of the box, it is also flexible and allows our school library to store and use information as we need to, which is especially important because we use this product all day, every day. The catalog search functions are wonderful and save so much time. I especially like that this product integrates flawlessly with our preferred book vendor, Titlewave, to make collection development and analysis easy. There is free training available, and customer support is professional, quick to respond, and easy to reach. The product works flawlessly on both the Mac and Chromebook products we have on our campus. From behind-the-scenes library maintenance to the user-facing library catalog, Follett Destiny Library Manager gives us everything we need in a user-friendly package.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

When compared to similar products I've used in other school libraries, Follett Destiny Library Manager is by far the best solution available.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager gives us the behind-the-scenes maintenance capabilities we need to manage our school library collection and school library users. We can manage MARC records and inventory our collection with ease. It offers a user-facing catalog, which increases access to information for students and faculty both on and off campus. It integrates flawlessly with our preferred book vendor, Titlewave, to make collection development and analysis easy.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Jennifer, thank you for your glowing review of Follett Destiny Library Manager! This review made our day! We're thrilled to hear that the product is meeting your needs and exceeding your expectations with its ease of use, flexibility, and seamless integration with Titlewave. Thank you for choosing Follett Destiny Library Manager to enhance your library experience!

 ### 41. Decent software; but could use updates.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raymond Y. | Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The upsides of using Follett Destiny include the consintency of information. When cataloging new books manually, I can check the MARC records of other books in Destiny to find where to put certain tags that I might not remember off the top of my head (because I usually get shelf-ready).

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Destiny Library Manager has several areas that could use improvement. A more intuitive search function that recocnizes spelling errors and might offer a "Did you mean..." to accomodate ther error rather than having to go back and retype the entire search term again. This would be especially helpful when the library is busy and you have a line of students that are asking for you to look up books. I work in a Pre-K through 2nd Grade school so training them to search on their own doesn't work because they won't do it enough to remember it.

I'd like to see a change in the Library Search Search Results. When a book is marked as O of 1 available, I'd like to have an indication on the results page whether the book is marked as lost or checked out without having to click on it. This would save time when looking for books within a category for a student. Being able to go down the search results and tell a student which books are out and will be coming back in soon and which books are available without having to click into a title and back out again would be very helpful.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Library Manager helps me keep an acurate accounting of what books I have in my collection. I can see what is available and what is not available.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager. We appreciate your positive comments about the consistency of information and how it helps with cataloging new books. We understand your concerns about the search function and the visibility of book availability in the search results. Your suggestions for improvements are valuable, and we will definitely pass this onto our product team to look into for future updates. ### 42. Friendly Follett

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda E. | Campus Librarian Media Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager is easy to use and has all of the needed information a librarian would need and use. I like that it remembers things I have typed and keeps settings I set. The report builder has more options that I sometimes think I need, but then a random something happens and I check...sure enough there is a report for that.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The one thing I have seen that has been a dislike for me is not being able to add a quantity on the Liberary View side of the manager. I have bags of headphones that teachers check in and out for testing purposes ($40 headphones with microphones and they have to be kept accounted for). Not all teachers need the same amount...I have a note set attached to the barcode on each bag, but the only way to put in the amount a teacher needed is to edit the note. I have seen a quantity typing option on iPads in our Resource View side. One other feature I do not like is that when students have a yearly photo uploaded into our Skyward manager system, Destiny does not update photos automatically. I have students in high school with their lower elementary photo listed.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I begain with this product 3 years ago - it is what our district uses and it is all that I know.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find it easy to use and appreciate the comprehensive information it provides. We understand your concerns about not being able to add quantities on the Library View side and the issue with student photos not updating automatically. ### 43. Destiny for School Libraries

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leah L. | School Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Basic functions (checking in/out, adding new books) are easy to use.
Destiny Discover is visually appealing to students and the easy to read in/out feature is helpful

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I use self checkout with older students. I have a simplified login that students use, but it is not specifically built for self checkout, so it is clunky. I would like an option specifically designed for self checkout, akin to what is available at my public library.

I also need the reports to integrate with the primary communication tool used by my district (ParentSquare) we are supposed to do all digital communication through that platform, but I cannot send reports through it, so I cannot.

I work in an elementary school. I would like the option to make the DEFAULT search in Destiny Discover BOOKS ONLY. Students are ENDLESSLY confused about ebooks showing up in results, thinking that means the book is in. I teach them about the symbols, but they still get confused everytime, especially the younger students. I wish the default was to search only for physical books and then they had to select if they wanted to include eBooks. There are ways to filter the results, but for young kids, any added steps, and they get confused.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cataloging our collections and keeping track of circulations- this is necessary to my job.
It also allows students a way to search our collection.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Hi Leah! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your positive comments about the basic functions and the visually appealing Destiny Discover. We understand your concerns about the self-checkout process and the integration with ParentSquare, and appreciate all of these details. We will forward your suggestions to our development team for consideration.

 ### 44. First year K-6 school librarian

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michele B. | K-6 School Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like being able to add copies easily by scanning the ISBN and adding a barcode and other basic info as needed. Also, the check-in and check-out process is simple and my students have learned how do this on their own and I typically only supervise that the entries clear. I love the forward facing library catalog that our school community can access anytime - it's very user friendly and visually appealing. As a new user, I've contacted customer support a few times and they are always helpful and quick to answer my questions. I use the platform every day.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

So far, as a first year user, the only area I have difficulty navigating is the Report Manager. I hope to learn more over the next few months to better utilize this part of the program. It will be interesting to see how inventory goes, I'm sure I'll reach out to customer service in advance to ask their help in video training before I implement that process.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager helps me quickly see what books are currently available in the collection. In addition, by subject or author search, I can more easily find gaps in the collection. The easiness of check-in and check-out allows my students to do this on their own with my supervision which helps them build confidence. This semester I will be teaching the students how to use the Destiny Discover to locate books and then how find them in the library. This helps build their problem solving and critical thinking skills.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your positive feedback on the ease of adding copies and the check-in/check-out process. We're sorry to hear about your difficulty with the Report Manager, but we're here to assist you in learning to navigate it more effectively. We have helpful customers resources (tutorials, customer boards, videos and more) that will be helpful on our Follett Software Community. You can find that all here: https://www.follettcommunity.com/s/destiny-library-manager. All you have to do is create login/profile (its free) and have access to all of this!

Please don't hesitate to contact our customer support for assistance as well. You can reach them at: 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com.

 ### 45. It's All I've Ever Used

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy L. | Librarian, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

It is fairly simple to use. It is easy to show someone how to use the basic features. I haven't had to contact customer support because we have sort of a protocol if we have problems. We had to limit and streamline the Admin side of it as our school district grew. It seems to be useful to other areas in our district as we have started using other features. I use it every day and think there is probably still things I can learn about Library Manager. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it works for what I need and is easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

There are many times I find myself saying, "I wish I could do..." when I'm doing things in Destiny. One of the concerns is separating refunds and fines. I send fine notices and refunds are included and that is confusing to parents. When using Resource Lists Collections I wish they were seamless when transferring information. I also wish Collections were more intuitive - tell me if I've already included a book in a collection so I don't have it 3 times. I also wish you could add to Collections from Back Office. When I try to go between the 2 I get signed out and it is frustrating. When a book is deleted from my catalog it should automatically be removed from Collections. These are good products, but they don't work well together. It adds more work.
Destiny Discover should be better integrated with Library Manager. It feels like a good product and is user friendly for students (most of the time), but it can't be managed in Library Manager. I would like to update Destiny Discover in Library Manager. There are times it doesn't feel like Destiny Discover works as well as Library Manager. It feels like it was introduced then kind of had the ball dropped to continue to make it better. They feel like 2 separate products, but Destiny Discover doesn't work for the students if I can't manage it better and I don't have time to go into Destiny Discover. I can't even have them both open because I will get signed out of one or both as I'm trying to work.
I also do not like that I have to go make suggestions on things for Destiny and then have to vote on other people's ideas for them to get noticed. Who has time to go read those? There should be a more direct way to use customer support for things like this.
I also don't feel that using the "help" in Library Manager is useful. It directs you to a "manual", but I don't always understand it. I would rather have a live chat to get immediate help. I also am not ever sure if I'm searching the correct terms to find what I need.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A place to house my collection and access it. A place for students to see what we have in our collection.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for your detailed feedback on your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We appreciate your positive comments about its ease of use and usefulness within your school district.

We understand your concerns about certain limitations and challenges you face while using the system, such as the need for better integration between Destiny Discover and Library Manager, as well as the issues with managing Collections and refunds. This is a big area of focus for our team right now, and I will pass along your suggestions to them right away.

We strive to continuously improve our products and services to better meet the needs of our users. If you would like further assistance or have additional feedback, please feel free to reach out to me at adoherty@follettsoftware.com. We are here to help and ensure your experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager is as smooth as possible.

 ### 46. Considered One of the Best

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth P. | District Librarian, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

As a district librarian, I appreciate the global capabilities that can align all of the schools in my district. I like the ease of use. Overall, I have had great customer service experiences, as well. As a tool that we use daily, it is a common language that we can all share. The business office staff likes that thet can use the various features to do things like assign fines for most of the departments in the district.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

With the changes at Follett and the split between content and software, there is a noticable difference in the support aspect. For the price, I am aware the many districts in my state are seeking alternatives and choosing to use other library management software. I am sure that we are not too far behind, especially since adding something like Resource Manager would be something that most district cannot afford.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it to assess fines, which is helpful because we don't have an alternative, but also, LM makes is making that feature more and more difficult, in an effort, it seems to get organizations to also purchase Resource Manager.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experiences with Follett Destiny Library Manager. We're delighted to hear that you appreciate the global capabilities, ease of use, and the customer service we provide. We understand your concerns about the changes and the impact on support. We value your feedback and are continuously working to improve our services. I'd love to chat more with you on this as well. Please reach out to me at my email: adoherty@follettsoftware.com. I would love to connect with you to address any specific issues you are facing and explore how we can enhance your experience with our software. Please feel free to reach out to our support team so we can assist you further. ### 47. Efficient and User-Friendly Tool for School Librarians

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** YVy N. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager (FDLM) is very user friendly for me - as a school librarian - to perform cataloguing, daily circulation and inventory tasks. Another bonus for FDLM is its capability in producing well-detailed reports and resource management. Both staff and students in my institution can easily get the access to the system to suit their needs. To be frank, FDLM enhances the library experience in our school library.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Initial steps are a bit complicated, it can take some training for new users. Interface updates are not as regular as we might hope, and the interface almost feels retro by comparison to current solutions. Budgetary concerns and licensing cost are a potential issue for smaller institutions.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

FDLM supports our library in streamlining operations through available cataloging, daily circulation and inventory management helping to eliminate staff errors and save time. It solves our library's issue of resource tracking, if there was a book being misplaced or how would the librarian know who is using what. This is how our library benefits from it, which is increased productivity cut into admin burden and organized that in turn enables educational success, especially towards the library.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> We're pleased to hear that Follett Destiny Library Manager has enhanced the library experience at your school. We understand the importance of user training and interface updates, and we'll take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. We appreciate your insight on the budgetary concerns, and we continuously work to provide flexible and cost-effective solutions for institutions of all sizes.

 ### 48. Hard Working, Easy Going

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael B. | Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

As a first time librarian with no previous exposure to library software, I was concerned with how not knowing how things work. Destiny Library Manager is very simple to use, but can do so much! I've only scratched the surface of all it offers, but I was able to get the basics down quickly with no formal training other that the video series that Follett offers. I also like how I can track books, students (patrons), and other materials from previous years without having to consult an outside source. I also like the access to Destiny Discover as it gives me confidence while I learn my library.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I am not a fan of the newest updates. They look really nice, but it does slow down my access and sometimes it freezes entirely and automatically reverts to the older system.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes the tracking of materials available conveniently located and easy to find. I'm also able to see live numbers of how the library is being used. I would need an entire staff to handle what this system does.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Follett Destiny Library Manager! We're thrilled to hear that you find the system easy to use and appreciate its capabilities. We understand your concerns about the newest updates causing some slowdowns and glitches. Our team is continuously working to improve the system's performance, and we appreciate your feedback. If you encounter any further issues or have suggestions for improvement, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team: 800.323.3397, option 2 or techsupport@follettsoftware.com. ### 49. As a first year Librarian, I did not have all the information I needed to be on top of my position.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolyn Q. | Librarian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Follett Destiny Library Manager reassures its users how to use the program in such a way it makes sense and it's not a guessing game to get the answers needed to feel successful.
The staff on-call is ready to assist, even to the point they show you what to click on to get the information needed. There are many online workshops for beginners. Customer Support is available whenever or however you need more information. This program was designed for its users to feel successful and know there are answers to every situation.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

The downfalls of using Follett Destiny might be self navigating and getting frustrated with the program before making a phone call or reaching online for additional help. Follett Destiny staff that will set up a time to sit down and go through what struggles are being faced. They are very knowledgeable and willing to guide librarians through the process of finding what is needed to feel confident and have a better understanding on how the software works. I was pleased to find out what free sites are available on their webpage to get all the information needed to feel successful. Customer support is there and is willing to direct or answer questions about their software and how to navigate easier to feel successful.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to know how to process new library books to be included on our shelves for students. I also wanted to know about workshops that are offered for beginner users and not feel overwhelmed. I had questions about getting over-due books summary for teachers as well as parents. Does this program include fees for books that can't be found or are damaged beyond repair? That's what Follett Destiny does so well, and that's to educate its users a safe and easy way to answer questions.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback that you find our program user-friendly and appreciate the support provided by our staff. We understand the importance of feeling confident and successful in your role as a librarian.

 ### 50. Easy to use and visualize books

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denise T. | Teacher Librarian, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

I like the categories of Back Office they make sense for the work of the librarian. Such as "Catalog", " Circulation", "Reports" etc. It is easy to navigater through the different work that we do all day long.

**What do you dislike about Follett Destiny Library Manager?**

Some tasks like making an expired "Hold active" just requires too many clicks.

I wish when you were looking for a patron in circulation that is in the name of the book such as "Brown" it would give you the patron names and the books with those names. At the moment, if you want to find a student with the last name Brown you have to click the "Find Patron" Button.

**What problems is Follett Destiny Library Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like how it keeps the Patron name more when you are switching tasks.

I also like how it is easy to navigate from Destiny Discoverer, Titlewave, and Back Office through the 9 boxes on the far right.

**Official Response from Annie Doherty:**
