What do you like best about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

One of the best features of FileWave is that FileWave has the ability o work on file level, so if you need to swap one file, or just make changes in a file there is no need to repackage and send out the whole package again.

This also makes it pretty easy to make customisasions in installations to meet your needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

Being able to use PowerShell and other script commands to gather more data and deploy more software than we have previously been able to.

Creating Smart Groups to help in managing devices and what deployment of filesets they should get.

Being able to create custom fields to query devices for specific information needed.

Being able to create queries based on any of the data that is collected from the devices.

Being able to track devices on and off network. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

When more than one person is working in the admin portal at the same time, if someone needs to do a model update it affects everyone that is logged in to where no interactivity with the system is possible until the model update is completed.

Currently have issues with using Remote Access in the system successfully/consistently.

Running into difficulties with needing to image a client that already exist in FileWave and the client does not have an onboard NIC since changing the MAC of the existing client in FileWave can sometimes cause issues with the database info.

When imaging a device that was already in FileWave there is a chance that FileWave will see it as a duplicate device and currently you have to allow enrollment of those devices one at a time which is very time consuming when there are thousands of devices waiting to be enrolled.

No option to create a USB flash drive boot option to do imaging, only PXE.

No ability to remotely tell a computer to start an imaging process. Can only do manually using PXE.

Not being able to add drivers to FileWave imaging process to identify hard drive or NIC at times for some model of devices, so the PXE imaging process fails. This is where a USB boot option would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software:

FileWave has allowed us to do more things than we were able to with previous products. It was especially helpful when our students were immediately changed to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spring 2020. Without FileWave, we would have been working a lot harder to find solutions to issues we encountered in being able to get needed software and rights to computers that were not on our network in such a short amount of time. With FileWave we entered the changes we needed to make and deployed it out and was able to identify a high success rate on installation of the deployment. We still find a lot of other benefits from using FileWave than just remote deployment. We are able to gather more accurate reports of what is in use on our devices, manage our licenses for our software deployments, and the ability to place devices into different groups to control which device gets what software and rights has been a game changer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software solving and how is that benefiting you?

Being able to deploy software and changes to computers that are off of our network during this time when our students are participating in remote learning has been a game changer for us.

When deploying software, if the computer is rebooted or powered off, FileWave picks back up where it left off and results in a lot less failures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

The Granular control of creating, modifying and deploying sets. The support team is very responsive and I’m a huge fan of scheduling support help on a support techs calendar. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

Since Filewave is so granular the manual could be more detailed. I would like to see more how to articles and video’s. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software:

A good multi platform device management systems who fully and quickly support their product. They live feedback and responsive to feature request to improve the product for their customers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software solving and how is that benefiting you?

Filewave has helped me create a more organized deployment system for rolling out and rolling back assigned devices. I use a profile that “Clocks” an iPad if users don’t return devices. What it actually does is hide all Apps (including Safari) except for the Clock app. I use this Instead of Lost Mode which will disable the iPad. If it drops WiFi then it quits checking in and the user can’t toggle it on. This profile allows a user to access the home screen and make sure it’s toggled on but all they can do is check the time. I couple this with a profile that changes the wallpaper with an instructional message and contact info. It’s a real attention getter!! And my boss loves it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

One of the biggest features our system enjoys is the multi-platform support that Filewave gives. Having the ability not to worry about what technology items will be supported or which ones won't is a big advantage for us. One of problems a large school system has includes having various devices added to the list of supported devices without any indication they are coming. Filewave gives us the peace of mind knowing their systems will support our devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software?

A large school system at times comes with unique issues that we have to plan for and overcome. Filewave does have great ability to customize it's usage and support. The one thing I wish we were able to do more of is tailor the built in dashboard view to add columns and sort criteria to see things instantly. We can still see what we need, but we just have to run a report to do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FileWave Unified Endpoint Management Software solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem we are solving is pushing software and updates to our devices as fast as they come out. We are also using the reporting features of Filewave to provide up to date reports on what devices we have, where those devices are, and what OSs the devices are running. Having all that information at our fingertips gives us the ability to know instantly what our challenges are and where we need to focus our limited energy at times. FileWave is the all in one Swiss army knife of device management tools. We chose this product because of its ability to help us with managing our iPad's, MacBook's and Windows PC's.
