  ### 4. Best in class for Load balancing + Open Source

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit K. | Full Stack Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2023

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

F5 NGINX is the best-in-class software that is open source, and free to use. We have been using it for a long time for load-balancing and it has worked like a charm, less load, high concurrency at its best. We had the case to handle the load for 1M concurrent users while balancing the load among all the pods, this has been a good decision we took.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

There haven't been any demerits but if we could have Cloudflare features that help avoid scraping of website inbuilt into something like this, it would've been great.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped us scale the server efficiently throughout different network pods, load balancing and protect the users from DDos attacks.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

For Spanish-speaking users it is a little more complicated because the documentation in English is quite extensive, which can cause difficulty in users who are not native speakers of the language. It is a little known solution even in comparison with others like Apache, which makes it difficult to find help or technical support in many occasions. It does not have a sufficiently usable customer service.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nginx is a server and a reverse proxy that has been gaining popularity, with an open source system, it is usable as a web server for uploading content, proxy and beacon, it is also possible to use it as a proxy to mount an online application, achieving a wide range of advantages that can afford different organizations. It is important because it allows cost savings and fast performance, therefore, Nginx is an excellent option, it is efficient and quite fast, it does not have a large scale when performing integrations, so it is possible that there are better options in the market that allow complementing the processes within different types of organizations.

  ### 6. F5 Nginx: A Reliable and secure load balancing tool

2. Scalability: NGINX is designed for scalability, making it an excellent choice for both small projects and large-scale, high-traffic applications.

3. Modules and extensions: The modular architecture allows users to extend its capabilities by adding modules, whether they're third-party or built by the community.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

Cost: NGINX Plus, the commercial version, comes at a cost. For organizations or individuals on a tight budget, this can be a deterrent, especially when the open-source version is freely available.

Documentation: While there's a significant amount of documentation available, some users feel that certain advanced topics or use cases aren't covered in depth.

F5 Transition Concerns: Post F5's acquisition of NGINX, there were concerns in the community about the future direction of the platform and how it might affect the open-source version.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly, we're using it as a secure and scalable load-balancing tool. It's lightweight. Recently, we also started using the Nginx ingress controller over the Azure Kubernetes services. The performance we're getting is satisfactory at the moment and we don't see a problem in advanced level configurations as well. It's possible to be grasped easily now with the help of AI tools like ChatGpt and Bard..

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

The best feature of nginx is its reliability and simplicity. It's very easy to start - when it start it installs the default "pure html" website. It's compatible with all web-add-on on the market. And its free version is capable to provide all that developer needs. It forces developer to use best practices and do not leave major vulnerabilities.

Nginx is free and it was my choice to host all our websites. It has a huge popularity, so any question on Stack Overflow is answered immediately.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

It's documentation is not logically structured and contains "long sentences that does have much sense". It's probably was automatically translated from Russian language.

  ### 22. Best Web Server i have used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amogh H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2020

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

One main advantage of Nginx over a web server like Apache is that Nginx does not set up a new process for each web request but rather the default configuration is to have one worker process per CPU. Nginx can also be used in various of scenarios like:

It can act as a reverse proxy server for TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, and IMAP protocols
It can act as a load balancer and an HTTP cache
It is very lightweight hence requires fewer resources / memory
Able to handle 10k+ simultaneous connections with a low memory footprint

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

Less community support and documentation than other web servers like Apache, but probably more than enough depending on your expertise and use case. Not as many modules / extensions as Apache. Could be difficult to understand how to configure initially, but once you get the hang of it its pretty simple to use.

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

Go for it. Its a very lightwieght web server with miniminum needs for resources. Very usefull for deploying websites for small companies/startups on a small VM on aws/azure works even with 1 cpu and 1 gb ram

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run multiple websites using nginx. Including websites serving static contents like Angular and also dyanmic content like Ruby on Rails Projects. The benifits i have realised are monetory as nginx can be used on small configurations like 1gb ram and 1 cpu on VM's on azure/aws and works flawlessly for websites built using angular which are very common these days

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

Do not hesitate to ask the large community supporting Nginx

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

no need to care about static files, routes...

  ### 31. I have been using it for years to manage an e-commerce website and never a block or a crash.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gianluca C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2020

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

Regarding nginx, I appreciate the fact that it is a stable and powerful web server, designed to handle large workloads of both HTTP and HTTPS requests with minimal necessary maintenance and truly minimal resources. When managing an e-commerce site in PHP with a possibly outdated or not recent CMS, it is essential to have a foundation infrastructure capable of handling complex requests and managing a greater number of PHP processes without slowing down or blocking the user experience.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

Configuring nginx is not easy, you need to have a lot of patience and good knowledge of both networking and the Linux environment to be able to correctly operate on configuration files, certificates, and permissions, and to be able to perform tuning of the software component parameters and everything that needs to manage requests to the process manager of your choice (if configured as a web-proxy).

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

The internet is full of how-to guides and FAQ pages that can guide a user in the initial setup of nginx and its dependencies on both Linux and Windows.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting in cluster scenarios and high availability of an obsolete or outdated web app is not a simple operation to perform with current web providers and web hosting, thanks to nginx I was able to configure my own hosting cluster by purchasing only the VPS with the operating system installed without having to go through management panels like cPanel or phpmyadmin.

  ### 32. Everything a web server can offer packed into 40 MB

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabrizio T. | IT Support Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

Nginx was born as a proxy server but offers various interesting and extremely useful features that make it suitable to be deployed in different types of environments: from content delivery networks to web apps firewalls & IDPS, from load balancing of web apps to intermediation in transparent proxy mode with compatible external process managers. In short, everything a "web server" should offer is encapsulated in a cross-platform package of just over 40 MB, totally scalable and extendable with dozens of modules, even custom ones, and maintained for free by an active community in the field of open source.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

I found very few flaws in nginx, the only noteworthy one that actually led to an improvement in our infrastructure concerns the inability to graphically monitor the various nodes and the status of services in GUI mode, which can be easily resolved by purchasing the affordable subscription to nginx plus.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need to separate the blog files and corporate website, as well as those of some clients, to improve performance and speed up loading has made it necessary to design and deploy an open-source content delivery network at no cost other than for energy and hardware maintenance. This is achieved through nginx, thanks to its excellent capability to serve files and static content and the free nginx secure module, which can enable authentication via hash in the HTTPS GET request to access the content, whether it is a page, an image, or a video.

  ### 33. Web proxy but not only, security and stability at your fingertips!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmelo L. | Cloud Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is the quintessential web server and web proxy, an excellent cross-platform server (though it performs better on Linux) that is free, open source, and fully customizable, allowing for maximum performance even from web apps with heavy workloads or massive connections, such as the continuous and heavy demand for static content. The additional free modules (to activate them, just place them in a specific directory)

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is the quintessential web server and web proxy, an excellent cross-platform server (but it performs better on Linux) that is free, open source, and fully customizable, allowing for maximum performance even from web apps with heavy workloads or massive connections, such as the continuous and heavy demand for static content. The additional free modules (to activate them, just place them in a specific directory)

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had an immediate need to create a private content delivery network (CDN) with secure authentication using temporary tokens through md5 hash or superior technologies to serve images and static content but protected by privacy. Thanks to nginx and the nginx secure authentication module, I was able to set up my corporate personal CDN in a few minutes, free and with uptime and performance comparable to a paid enterprise CDN.

  ### 34. One of the base pillars of the internet as of now

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2020

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

The configuration is really easy without removing any advanced options and it has a huge community backing it up

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

I dont really find any disadvantage big enough to highlight it

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly I use Nginx as a reverse proxy and load balancer and web server in some instances, in most cases is faster than similar software and faster to implement

  ### 35. An excellent web server with optimal performance and maximum stability for critical environments

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio I. | DevOps Engineer , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is a guarantee in terms of stability in business-critical environments where maximum reliability is required, load balancing, and failover across 5-6 tiers ready to act in case of outages. As if that weren't enough, it also finds application outside the web server field: it is indeed capable of operating as a web proxy, anti-DDoS, intrusion detection and prevention system, and web application firewall, extremely useful features that find applications both in the IoT world and in the web of our days more generally.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

Wanting to look at nginx with a critical eye, I could say that the only flaw is the extreme complexity of certain types of configurations necessary for high availability deployments. They are not well documented and cannot be generated at all from the dedicated nginx plus panel (for those with an active subscription).

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used and continue to use nginx in high-reliability environments that require compliance with very strict SLAs with the client, which are continuously monitored and penalized with heavy fines. Thanks to nginx, we have noticed a great economic saving due to the decrease in penalty costs and an increase in the free time of each resource to be allocated to other projects because troubleshooting and fault resolution activities have been practically eliminated.

  ### 36. Never seen a more scalable and complete web server

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dario S. | Support engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is top of the line, free, in the category of web proxies and web app servers, but not only that, what amazes and pleases me is the part that the nginx team has dedicated to the security of infrastructures and web apps. It allows for anti-DDoS load balancing, access log control through parsing, IP address limitations, and useful features like the ability to communicate with multiple PHP or nodeJS nodes without having to expose these nodes outside the LAN network, but using, indeed, nginx as a transparent proxy to serve web content without losing or affecting HTTPS and the related domain certificate.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

I totally like it, the only downside is the lack of official documentation for those who choose, perhaps just for a trial, the free version and not the plus one. I imagine it's a market choice, but unfortunately, in this way, those who install it have no way to fully discover the magnificent features of this proxy server.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to distribute the load evenly across three different PHP FastCGI process manager nodes, both to avoid distributed DoS attacks on a single node as a single point of failure and because they are exposed only on the LAN network. This was not only to apply the round-robin balancing algorithm but also to prevent external attacks or vulnerability scans that could easily lead to saturation of the upstream and downstream bandwidth.

Noteworthy is also the function capable of integrating access logs with IDS and/or IPS systems like fail2ban and advanced ufw filters in a Linux environment.

  ### 37. If deployed as a web proxy, you can sleep soundly, uptime for life!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmelo B. | IT Security officer (SecOps), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

I use nginx solely for its web proxy functionality. I got to know it by hosting a small web server for my website (static HTML pages) and started researching its features until I proposed it as a replacement for our old corporate web proxy at work due to its stability, real-time intrusion and DDOS prevention controls, and the scalability it allows in multi-node and cluster environments. This is what I love and know about nginx, but I know it can do much more and I hope to discover it soon!

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

The connection with PHP FastCGI (that is, the PHP process manager to which you execute a proxy pass to run PHP pages) is really time-consuming and labor-intensive because there are no clear examples, and all the documentation, when compared, offers different methods without explaining which one and why it is the best (official documentation, moreover). It is an easily avoidable issue but leaves a bit of a bitter taste.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All I needed to achieve was to "hide" and protect more PHP-FPM nodes by exposing them only to the Docker LAN network and nginx rather than assigning them a public WAN IP address to make them accessible from the outside as well. The configuration of the nodes and load balancing (round robin, by default) was straightforward and worked without any issues.

  ### 38. Best web proxy ever, highly recommended on Linux environment for high availability and fail-over

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riccardo T. | Senior Maintenance Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is a web proxy only on paper because among its many features it allows you to operate as an application firewall, load balancer (with standard algorithms or with its own criteria), web server for pages and static content (very useful for CDNs), and as anti-DDoS protection as well as a system for prevention and protection against intrusions and unauthorized access aimed at attack.

The web dashboard is also very useful as it allows you to manage all related services and configurations and to have a complete overview of the state of nginx.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

For users who do not purchase the Plus version, the official documentation is minimal and does not cover any more advanced configurations (nor does it provide examples) such as the configuration of HA active-active, failover, load balancing, and some proxy pass constructs for PHP FastCGI and nodeJS.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have solved many problems with nginx, it was necessary for me to find a reliable alternative to the more well-known (but less performant and less stable) web servers that included support for Linux and the ability both to serve web pages for my business site and to operate as a web application firewall for some web apps that require specific rulesets at the application level and particular checks in case of repeated and suspicious connections.

  ### 39. The best free and open-source web application firewall in the world!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Domenico A. | Senior System automation engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

The protection of web applications from attacks at much lower levels than those used by the applications is now a common global plague. The continuous attacks suffered by our web apps (DoS and the like) have led us to evaluate some solutions, and among all the very expensive solutions, we have chosen the only free, open-source, and probably the most reliable one, namely nginx. It is easy to configure, does its job excellently in transparent mode, and allows for complete visibility of what happens between the nodes and between the individual segments of the web apps.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

The configuration as a web application firewall is not always clear, and it is often necessary to rely on external and unofficial resources and tutorials to achieve the desired or necessary result without having to involve technicians or paid support.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From deployment to today, nginx has protected our web apps from almost 30 different DDOS attacks originating from major Russian and international botnets. I would say that is enough to describe the benefits we have achieved thanks to it.

  ### 40. Excellent web proxy server for various use cases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michele L. | Junior Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

In the company, we use nginx for various purposes, among the most common and best features is the ability to act as a proxy server with a fast and simple textual configuration so that it "runs" and forwards all requests to an active and reachable nodeJS process manager or PHP fastCGI on the internal network only. In this way, total segmentation is achieved, and it is possible to expose only nginx as the proxy server of your web app and not the process manager directly.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

The test mode that can be activated from the command line with nginx -t returns errors in a simple and summary way, so there is no way to understand what to fix in the configuration. Unfortunately, it is not a true debugging mode.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hide the process managers of our web applications by exposing nginx as a load balancer and as a proxy server so that clients do not reach the web app directly and it is not necessary to assign and expose our process managers on public IP addresses.

  ### 41. The best web server to execute proxy pass to your own PHP web app without exposing it to threats

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rino L. | Linux engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

It can be installed in a Linux and Windows environment with a single command from the terminal, the configuration is relatively simple and well described with examples for every situation (the web is full of snippets anyway), the feature I love is the ability to execute proxy pass to your own PHP or Node.js web app without it being exposed outside the local network, it's a great security feature to also allow parsing of access logs to any firewalls.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

in the community version, there is no GUI to be able to control the active services and their status in detail, it's a pity to have to use external tools to obtain such a feature!

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Avoid dangers, attacks, and vulnerability scans to my PHP web app by avoiding exposing it on the WAN network of my campus. Additionally, I needed to control incoming traffic through logs to be sent for parsing to an open-source firewall called fail2ban.

  ### 42. Proxy and SSL completion

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amani K. | Information Technology Project Manager, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

NGINX is capable of using various features and functionalities to reduce page loading time drastically. It happens as local file structures are distributed through databases for some programs. It provides a small storage footprint, high efficiency, easy maintenance, and it is scalable, configurable and versatile. I was able to install NGINX directly without the bottleneck. We can also build entirely different nodes from the NGINX variants of the same platform. Also, it includes many choices available for the deduplication mechanism that can be configured in almost any way possible.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

NGINX monitoring has a less comprehensive list of components than other similar tools, like Apache. It also has low support of the community. I wish NGINX could offer better controls that can track the logs in an ideal manner, as it will allow the system administrator to use it in a more versatile way rather than using Unix commands to pick specific things.

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

NGINX is best used for any database server as the front end VPN. Since NGINX isn't as backed as some solutions, there can be no support and manual layout for integrating with some operating systems.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are very much using NGINX as our main proxy and SSL completion. It is used for storage purposes and for loading the inventory of the clustered programs as well as for maintaining the network alive in the case of node outage or malfunction of the database server.

  ### 43. The only almost completely free software alternative to hardware load balancers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mario L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

These are web servers with load balancing features with content caching, session persistence, configuration via API, etc. You can achieve things with Nginx, more than you would otherwise need hardware load balancing for. Improve the dynamic content performance with microcaching. It is capable of handling huge clients with less memory and welcomed speed and efficiency compared to other web servers.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

It does not have functions or wizards to create forms easily, there are no starting templates, and the official documentation of the non-plus version leaves something to be desired as it is quite outdated.

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

As much as it is a beautiful tool when you need web servers plus other features like content caching, session persistence, multiple protocol reverse proxy, managing a large number of clients simultaneously.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This web server is automated where the most common tasks are handled by Nginx built into the API. It uses reverse proxy to manage different protocols such as HTTP, memcached, PHP-FPM, SCGI. Session persistence and content caching are useful features available with this software.

  ### 44. Excellent web server for creating CDNs for streaming static content

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaetano A. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx has always been dedicated to the possibility of being a scalable and adaptable web server for different types of environments, whether it is an environment dedicated to serving web apps, a process manager behind a proxy, or a web implementation of a CDN, that is, a content delivery network designed to serve static content such as images, videos, photos, style sheets, files, datasets to reduce the load on the actual web server that will execute the loading of the HTML code to correctly display the page structure, thus speeding up operations and the loading time of a website. The CDN functionality can be achieved with a relatively simple configuration as it only requires configuring the paths to serve static files and then enabling the official free nginx secure authentication module on those paths to ensure that the CDN content can be viewed only by users in possession of a token or an md5 hash or superior technologies included in the GET request, all of this for free and without having to use an expensive external secure CDN service.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about nginx; I consider it to be an absolutely perfect web server and web proxy, at least for now. The only small flaw I've noticed is the lack of official documentation in Italian, but this can be easily remedied and resolved by purchasing dozens of books about nginx from Italian authors and devops engineers.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create a CDN with secure authentication tokens (SHA256 instead of MD5), native support for HTTPS capable of delivering primarily video content for a self-built and self-hosted e-learning platform for procedures used within our company to be shown to new hires during onboarding and post-hire training periods.

  ### 45. Performant, fast, lightweight, and executable on any legacy machine, great for web apps and CDN

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carmelo G. | Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

Nginx requires so few resources compared to Apache. In the same way that the Chrome browser has replaced industry experts, Nginx has provided us with an excellent alternative to Apache. I use Nginx to run some popular open source software and it works great. We have also used it as a load balancer in the past because it is an affordable alternative to commercial load balancers.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

The configuration can be a bit complicated. Most web applications are ready to be deployed via Apache, and you have to play with the nginx configuration to make it work. If you want it to work with something like PHP, you need to have PHP running as a server and it cannot simply be loaded into Nginx as a module.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Distribute multiple web servers for different companies and their products/services distributed with a single server through the configuration of nginx virtual hosts and proxy pass function.

  ### 46. An excellent and reliable web server for static content... and more!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giuseppe C. | Senior System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

nginx is one of those, if not the only proxy server that includes within itself dozens if not hundreds of applications for use. Beyond its main role as a proxy server, it can also perform DIVINELY load balancing at extreme and fully customizable levels towards dozens of different application servers, from nodeJS to PHP fastCGI process manager. Last but not least is the feature of a static web server capable of natively supporting, without any additional application server, the hosting of static HTML web pages or static content (perfect for creating content delivery networks or CDNs to serve files).

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

I like everything about nginx, but the initial configuration process should be slightly revised to provide the user with the option to install the main process managers for web apps (from Ruby on Rails to PHP7) during the installation phase.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create a CDN to serve the large static files and content of our corporate website without putting stress on the physical host, which is responsible only for hosting the web page and style sheets according to W3C and WordPress guidelines.

  ### 47. The greatest free web proxy server of all time!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paolo T. | Campus system security officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

You can install nginx with a single command from Linux CLI and it can be easily configured to better adapt on every type of deployment you need: from load balancer for multi-nodes environment to static html web server, from nodejs or php proxy pass to web application firewall to parse logs through your IDS/IPS system

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

Having a little GUI to manage hosts and listen addresses would be perfect, it's very hard to manage hundreds of hosts from CLI

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploy web application firewall that pass all incoming https requests to fail2ban rulesets without having to buy expensive commercial hardware

  ### 48. Load balancing and use of few server resources.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Genesis C. | Specialist in Linux systems and networks., Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

1) I mainly like its compatibility with Linux and Windows, to work on any stable platform.

2) The execution is more optimized, faster because I decide that it is loaded to avoid wasting time in processes.

3) Configuration is easier than Apache Server, web server load balancing and proxy server response with static content.

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

The configuration at the beginning is difficult due to the change of language and adaptation to the new server.

**Recommendations to others considering F5 NGINX:**

This system is easier to install and start up than other systems, for example Apache Server. Ngixn is cross-platform, open source with a trial version for you to use all the functions and settings for 30 days before paying, I recommend you try it before buying so you can compare it with other systems.

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main thing is the load balancing of several web servers, correct use of the proxy to improve traffic on our network.

  ### 49. Best proxy server to pass parameters in the most secure way

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giuliani E. | Network engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

You can easily create a configuration file to use nginx as a reverse proxy to pass parameters and request to your PHP process manager without having to insecurely expose on the internet-side your PHP FPM, NodeJS or FastCGI server, very useful to avoid DDoS, DoS and vulnerability scanning attacks

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

There's nothing I can dislike, nginx do its job in a perfect way and it's very stable and suitable for a production environment an business-critical deployment type

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I deployed nginx to mitigate and avoid Denial of service attacks I was experiencing on my web application during last months, it save me a lot of time (and money) without having to buy and configure a new intrusion prevention system

  ### 50. Good server to host static pages of your company website

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luca M. | Jr Sysadmin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about F5 NGINX?**

You can create unlimited hosts in a single conf file so you can host with a single server more website and proxy the incoming requests without open different port than 80 and 443 for HTTPS.
Is also good to hide real ip address of the listening web server

**What do you dislike about F5 NGINX?**

No support or example templates in conf file, especially when you install and you are trying to configure it on Linux based OS

**What problems is F5 NGINX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploy multiple web server for different companies and their distributed products / services with a single server through virtual hosts configuration of nginx and proxy pass function
