Eviews is very simple statistical software especially for beginners as it does not require that much programming knowledge. Everything is clearly specified with clear options. One can make use of it to forecast, building simple statistical models and many more things. Its not as popular as other softwares like Stata. People prefer to use those softwares which are popular so that they can be used more universally. The functionality of EViews is incredibly powerful. Some of the most simple functions in EViews yield a host of useful and powerful statistics for your business or project. If you understand the statistical and mathematical theory behind forecasting, you will be able to run powerful functions with your data. EViews make the analysis of time-series data extremely accessible. It simplifies the process of analyzing your data without having to write complex scripts. I would say that my favorite part of EViews is the ability to directly access 3rd party data inside of the software without having to scrape the web for the data you need.

My main concern with EViews is that it does have a learning curve. EViews can be intimidating; however, the knowledge required to use the program can be easily attained. With an elementary knowledge of programming, one will be able to use this software effectively. However, intuitively, the further one goes with their statistical analysis, the greater understanding that they will need to have about using programming languages for mathematical and statistical purposes. As an Economist, this software comes in handy assisting me to do advanced research data analysis and interpretation of results for policy recommendations, I just cannot do without E-Views. - Ease of use, the GUI is very intuitive and for first-time users very logical

- Efficient on low-spec computers, no need for latest gen specs. I still use my 2014 Macbook without any issues

- Statistical and modeling tools are quite extensive, from time series to regressions

- Support is very good, i never ran into issues in communication

- Not much debugging support compared to different statistical tools, e.g. Matlab R Stata. I tried few of them

- Cannot be ran in the cloud, i.e. did not find a way into running it on my local server and access it from any HPC

- Relatively basic and flat interface, and no particular black mode to work on Windows 10. Not so much of an issue but user interface is indeed ever-evolving
