It works most of the time. Until you update, that usually brakes something. Wouldn't know anything to compare it to. **What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?** Downsides? Support is awful! Especially first tier. Takes way too long to resolve issues, can't understand them. (Very broken English) They give you articles instead of helping. For the amount of money we spent they shouldn't have to outsource the support to another country. I am 55 years old, been in IT for 33 years. My current job is the best job I have ever had and I think about quitting every day that I have to deal with P21 support or consulting. It is beyond frustrating. Updating the system that happens 1 or 2 times a month, always breaks something. Their new website, Epicweb has got to be the worst to navigate. Especially if you are trying to customize something. They are telling me it will be several weeks before I get a response from someone, which will no doubt cost 5k to 10k or more to get help with customizing labels. Just as one example. I've had multiple meetings with the higher-ups about the issues we are having and yet nothing has changed. They just don't care once they get your money. **What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?** That's a funny question. The second-tier support has helped with getting printing going for me. They are great when you actually get to work with them. But the problem was they changed printing services without letting us know, so we had a few hours of downtime cause we couldn't print. There's no one to call, you just submit a ticket and hope that they respond in a timely manner. This time they only took a few hours to respond. Usually, it's days or weeks. ### 8. I've previously worked with Epicor's VISION software, and the difference in user-friendliness and customizability is staggering. Inventory management between our dozens of DC's and individual sites is seamless-pricing items to the customer, creating pick tickets for the stock location, and documenting a transfer is all done with only a couple of clicks. Invoicing is also relatively simply. Creating them takes no effort, and the software seems to do an excellent job of communicating with our customer's SAP Ariba software. Automation processes for the creation of sales orders for process like cycle counting and Zebra PDT scanner downloads are flawless. We are able to perform count/adjustment entries in a separate software, and those become sales orders we can bill the customer with in a matter of minutes. Scanners function the same way-individual, detailed S/O are created based on customer/project/work order to allow for easy allocation of costs. **What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?** Hassle to update already existing documents. Changing controls on inventory has a lot of red tape, but that may just be a factor of how our company has chosen to set it up. Sometimes it can be difficult to find information on linked documents such as sales orders/PO's/invoices without opening an entirely new window and switching back and forth. More of a nitpick, but it could play a little better with Microsoft Excel. There are occasionally six different ways to find the same information-something like finding a bin location can be found through three nearly identical reporting modules, several very similar inventory lookups, or simply via the sales order. Despite this, there is no way to find a bin location when receiving a PO on the spot to make for ease of stocking. Templates for sending certain documents over would be nice-just a way to quicken the process of sending a PO to a vendor or sending sales orders to the customer for their own PO creation directly from P21. Its still relatively easy to do now, but it would be nice to save the hassle of entering email address, message bodies, and so on every time. **Recommendations to others considering Epicor Prophet 21:** Virtually limitless options for customization, appears to excel at many different applications and industries. **What problems is Epicor Prophet 21 solving and how is that benefiting you?** Inventory management/turnover, purchasing, receiving, invoicing. All inventory controls (min/max replenishment points, usage analytics, stock locations, lead times, and price booking) can all be found with relative ease. Invoicing is generally seamless. ### 23. The help is very descriptive so it's helpful to new users and those of us that need reminded how things really work. **What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?** Overall speed of the system, not a lot of flexibility to import and fast edit areas that make sense in our business. The front counter experience is really the same as normal OE. It feels cumbersome to use at times because of the info required and the order it needs entered. For example, we were really looking forward to the new API functionality and when it came out there was a charge and a maintenance fee for it. In the latest version we installed the Epicor Virtual Assistant and again there is a charge to use it. Example, In the application itself, you can right click and see the SQL that was used to pull the data on the screen. It is a huge advantage to an administrator. The addition of Rules even allow you to customize the business logic, and require specific rules for data input, or even develop custom modules to bolt onto P21. **What do you dislike about Epicor Prophet 21?** An occasional concer I have about P21 is that some support was offshored for tier 1, which can be a struggle, but getting better each year. Another I have is the speed to market on some of the "common sense" features, and business process features that should be baseline. The product managers work hard to push things through and we deeply appreciate it, but at times I feel some priorities toward certain areas of the product forces other mainstream areas enhancements to suffer. Reporting for example is quite static, sales history report for example.
