Filling out screens are no complicated on what you need to enter and where ETAX, STPS, EDDP. The batch stipends is a new feature that will help our processes. The banking info through Self Service is a very nice feature so employees can enter in their own info. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** Reporting is not the best. We have to use Informer or now Argos that we are on SAAS. Alot of manual changes though. It would be nice to scan tax forms in and have the system read them. We would like to move away from Kronos for timekeeping but we need time clocks and have employe not be able to alter their own and request time off and scheduling. Last I looked into this they did not have all the things we needed but it would be great to sue one product for everything. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Batch stipends is saving us a huge amount of time. Currently we manully enter in about 1500 stipends a semster, 3 times a year. ### 2. I think the inforamtion is easy to read in the system. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** There are not the best standard reports. We have our IT department create a lot of reports in Informer. Some of the processes and workflows seem clunky. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** The one-on-one training is fantastic, but they know the system so well they go through it really fast, and it makes sense, but when you go to do things yourself, it can be confusing. The hub has a lot of helpful information, but at times is seems complicated to find what you need. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We found out there are better ways to withhold FICA from students without manually calculating and adjusting it when pay periods are split between academic year and summer but our positions management needs a lot of work. ### 3. Running simple .csv exports is easy enough once you know the pages you need to find and the sometimes inconsistent coding required to input parameters. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** It's so big and overbearing that most of the platform is empty. For whatever reason, much of our data isn't automated so lots of updates require hand entry, which often means it just doesn't get input to Banner, which means it's not available to end-users like me. Reporting, though simple enough on the front end, requires a whole f/t person, so updating my own reports on the fly isn't possible. It's always a ticket to request support. Banner also can be buggy. There is a perpetual issue among every colleague I know (who are Chrome users, which are most all of us) where logging in will always throw an error saying to log in again. But that doesn't work. You just have to press the "return to previous page" button and try logging in a couple of times. Other times you get a 500 Error with no explanation. But basically you've got to clear all your cookies. Now, you could clear your entire cache, but if you don't want to do that, you've got to look for specific cookies under at least three different names. Basically, banner is either really buggy or our IT team hasn't implemented it properly (but I doubt that because they're very good). **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** Consider all your options. Banner certainly has potential and can provide many services, but it also doesn't feel like the most modern, user-friendly platform. It is certainly not point-and-click (in fact, I wouldn't know how to use my mouse with Banner if I had to). **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** I require data on thousands of people that is changing regularly, so my local department CRM needs updated as well. I depend on Banner for this process... daily at times, weekly or monthly at other times. To some degree it does help. It is the only platform I have to consolidate all that data, so though it can be challenging at times, it does facilitate that process for me. ### 4. There are many available codes and customization tools in it. I like that many departments in my organization can use the same system. It is a good place to store data. I think it is very useful when we are running our payroll. It is simple to use and easy to train others on. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** Sometimes I get notices that it is not connected to the server. It can also run very slowly sometimes. I wish it could be easier to make reports from colleague information. I think our IT department has a hard time creating reports from the information on Colleague, but I think it is nice that they have that option to create reports. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** I think this is a great tool to use especially in a university setting where there are many departments that could use the same tools. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using colleague for payroll purposes and I think it has worked very well because we can also use it to check on other information other than payroll items. We use colleague to change pay rates, add bonuses, and other things in terms of payroll. We also use it to do payroll reductions as well and list medical benefit information. I think it is very handing that other departments can use the same system for their own use as well as in keeping records or financial information as well. ### 5. Time sheets are the biggest thing our department uses them for and it has been a great tool since switching from paper forms. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** It can be really picky and sometimes hard to navigate. The system also does not have a 'notification' option for when time sheets are turned in, returned/rejected, or completed/approved; that would be REALLY beneficial. Looking ta our budget is easy but deciphering what is what is challenging. There are too many lines for one item and it gets confusing and hard to track bottom line. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Banner gives us easy access to records and tracking certain documentation. We have recently started using it for time sheet submittal and it has been a great tool as opposed to the paper forms everyone had to turn in every two week.s ### 6. It has a lot of options for a company for managing systems. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** I dislike the learning curve. It takes a lot of training to become proficient. That is not to say that a system of this caliber should not, but it is not user friendly or particularly attractive from a customer-facing standpoint. It can look outdated because of this. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** Needs a makeover, but can be a powerful tool. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** All aspects of HR and Payroll management. Benefits include a centralized system to obtain the latest employee information, creation of forms through the system, and creation of reports. ### 7. It's great to have all of my HR information to view and to edit right at my finger tips. Also great for finding campus information and other forms I may need for personnel issues and for cross-campus collaboration. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** I don't find the interface to be particularly user friendly when looking up large amounts of information for prospects in advancement work. It would be easier to use if all information was together on one screen. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** Huge benefit to having all of my HR information in one spot so I can review and make changes whenever I need to. Also great to see what's happening on campus and different ways I can become involved in what's happening on campus and to collaborate with new partners! ### 8. My office logs into Business Objects, a reporting system, that pulls information from Banner. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** It does not speak to other programs, i.e Advance or SalesforceCRM, so we are finding that either our HR department (Banner) or most of the University (Advance and/or crm) have conflicting data. I'm not high enough up the chain to know if that is just how it is, or if there is a workaround. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** When we receive returned mail for employees or students, we check with Banner to see if they have a more current address on file. We have found many constituents with current information, and have updated our system to reflect. ### 9. It’s possibky because I don’t use it daily. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** It actually is very confusing to use aspects of Banner. I would like to be able to print directly from it. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** If you’re a regular user it will probably be fine. **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** I access records, payroll and other information. ### 11. Although, we are not in the web-based system and are behind in our upgrades so maybe that is more of the issue. **What do you dislike about Ellucian Human Capital Management?** It is not user-friendly or intuitive at all. Shortened names and codes do not make sense. It often freezes and has very specific conditions under which it will work. It's a hassle to use and update. A lot of windows hold repetitive information. The customer service is also lacking in actual customer service. They are rude and never know how to help us. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** Try PeopleSoft, it's not great but at least it's better! There may even be something else out there that's better than both Banner and PeopleSoft that I don't know about. The customer service from Banner is also awful. Definitely shop around for price and user-interface... and check reviews on all products! **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it mainly for employee information tracking and hours tracking. I really don't have anything positive to say about Banner. ### 14. Mostly reactive. Also did not interact with other systems for many years. Example: no integration with applicant tracking systems. **Recommendations to others considering Ellucian Human Capital Management:** Consider the modules available. Also consider your data reporting needs vs reports provided by colleague! **What problems is Ellucian Human Capital Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Colleague as the employment system of record. Payroll is also processed through colleague. ### 15.
