So I am a novice user and a “one man band”. As a result, I am unable to judge ElevenLabs on a comparative scale. Given that, I both liked and was amazed by the ElevenLabs ability to turn text into speech. I used the default voices for about 15 characters in my book, Malice Within. I was both surprised and delighted when I found that—by changing punctuation [for example, a period (.) or an ellipsis (…)]—a sentence could be shaped to convey in speech the intent of that punctuation. Using elevenLabs was a relatively easy process, but only after many hours of trial and error experimentation. **What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?** There appears to be NO Customer Support: no way to ask a “how-to” question. The lack of basic, newbie documentation. It was maddening to have to “learn to fly” ElevenLabs without fundamental training material. There are no “how-to” documents that illustrate ways to use ElevenLabs. The voice modifiers (shown by the double arrows associated with a voice) aren’t explained in terms of what they mean or how to use them. Another irksome thing was that the volume levels of the various voices are not the same. When a voice is put into your default catalog, it should be put there at some standard volume level so multiple voices can be used, without having to adjust the volumes, except for things like whispers or shouts. I was also frustrated about voices simply disappearing from the catalog. Having selected a voice for a character and using it, only to find that voice unavailable when it came time to use it again, was unnecessarily both frustrating and costly in terms of credits. Sometimes I get such great end result I can’t stop trying more! The voices sound very natural and very little obstruction. Easy to understand and use for work. **What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?** There are a number of elements elevenlabs could work on. 1) For sound effects and ambient music I only get up to 22 seconds so stuck with looping type music rather than be able to continue the sound for a longer period. 2) When adding paragraphs of text into the text area for narration, if the voice comes out 90% ok and there are weird pronounciations or missed beats, I can’t reroll just that sentence, and any minor change I have to pay in credits for the ENTIRE re-roll and the voice won’t match. So it costs way too much to fix minor errors. I have to chop up the text into bite size pieces to make sure each sentence or paragraph id narrated correctly, then every separate new posted paragraph makes the voice change so it is not matching continuity. Very very big problem for me. 3) No way organize or easily manage my sounds and have endless scrolling to find my original prompts. We need folders, we need organization especially as I assume most people use this ai tool for work, time is money and if I have to spend 10x more time hunting for files or prompts than it takes to get a fresh prompt output that’s a problem. 4) When creating a new voice, hardly is it ever accurate. And we only get to pick one voice out of 3, but the other two we may like but disappear into the void after we pick “the one voice we like”. Sometimes its not even accurate to the prompt. 5) Let us download .wav files not just .mp3 as the quality is much much better for professionals that want to clean up the error residue the ai left behind. **What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am building an interactive comic website and was stressing about paying and hiring actors but now can simply take all dialogue, input into elevenlabs, make a fresh character voice and whip out amazing narration within a minute! I can set up a scenario (workflow) to grab information from various sources, run it through a script in a chatbot, and then thanks to the API key and the ElevenLabs module, have that script fed to ElevenLabs automatedly to be read by the voice of my choosing. Then, I can have the finished audio file either emailed to me or uploaded to Dropbox for sharing. Most of the voices sound very real, with am excellent variety to choose from. **What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?** Currently, the new Eleven Labs project model is not available via their module in Make.com. I'd like that availability, so I can use a script with multiple voices and have it read by multiple voices and saved/exported as just the one audio file. The module in Make.com also doesn't currently allow you to chooss the speed of something to be read, which you can do manually on the ElevenLabs website. I've been using Microsoft's STT service for years. Unfortunately, their STT service is far from good. I'm using ElevenLabs' service for some time now and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Something I am looking for is a service that I can upload time-coded English subtitles and a movie for Text to Speech (Bulgarian Dub) if ElevenLabs can implement such a feature, I would gladly test it. **What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?** I am using ElevenLabs for a short period now, so I can't say yet. **What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?** My company has its TV channels, one of which is related to travel, destinations, hotels, nature and hard-to-pronounce places. Unfortunately, some of the content we acquire not always come with dialogue lists or scripts, so we use Speech to Text services in order to generate subtitles and translate them. We use hard-subtitles for our content. Soon, we are considering dubbin for this TV channel and we are lookin for good Text to Speech service which we can upload the movie and the subtitles. I haven't tried ElevenLabs direct translation and dubbing yet, since I am pretty sure I will not be pleased with the results. There are a lot of specifics in these movies and hard-to-pronounce places, castles, etc. As for ElevenLabs Speech to Text service with certainly I can say that I'm very pleased with the resaults. The whole process of having it dub a written script in my own voice takes less than a minute. It is easy and quite easy to use to add commentary to my videos in my own voice to add a sense of humanity to my videos. **What do you dislike about ElevenLabs?** What I dislike about ElevenLabs is the inconsistency of the pronunciation and speed of which the ai voice reads the scripts I provide it. Often time the ai voice would mispronunciate several words or abruptly slowed down or sped up on several sentences making the audio records unusable. In order to generate a perfect audio that's usable for videos, it often requires regeneration of the audio which ends up burning my credits used on my account. The ai voice generation can be quite frustrating and inefficient whenever it generate poor audio. It would take several tries and several thousands of credits before it can generate a cloned voice in a usable audio. I wish for ElevenLabs to provide unlimited generation for poorly made audio. Quite frankly at it's current price point, I can't recommend it for people to use it clone their voice as it requires several hours of recordings to perfect a voice recording. **What problems is ElevenLabs solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a Youtube content creator I enjoy how easy it is to utilize ElevenLabs to create ai voice to in order to add commentary to my videos. As someone who is strong on productivity and constantly time crunches I tend to make many mistakes while commentating on videos so I utilize ElevenLabs in order to clone my voice and have it read my script for me. Providing easy commentaries in less than a minute sometimes. ### 48.
