I keep receiving a message saying "unusual activity detected," even though I'm using the same IP address. I tried using a VPN to change my IP, but that didn’t help. I purchased a $22 plan two months ago, but I wasn’t able to use the 10,000 words included in it. Now, when I try to use it again, I’m being prompted to buy another plan. I use ElevenLabs in the following ways:
A professional clone of my own voice. This allows me to do text-to-speech in real time in a way that sounds 90-95% like it's actually me talking, including my mannerisms and accent. I have a deep Appalachian accent, so not common. ElevenLabs handles it flawlessly.
If I adjust the settings on my professional clone, I can also have it match my usual "narration" tone for my own audiobooks. This will obviously be limited in how it can do character voices consistently for fiction stories, but this is something I would be unable to do at all without ElevenLabs.
I also use it for small projects where I wouldn't normally have a voice ta all, such as a voice file companion for my serialized fiction, making it much more convenient for my readers to follow along with stories while, for example, commuting to and from work.
It has been a tremendous help for me. I also appreciate their approach to ethical solutions for questions that arise, adding features for things like a professional narrator being able to sell the usage rights to their voice and earn money from it. Like any powerful tool, there will always be ways to use it for unsavory purposes, but they actively try to avoid it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There aren't many things I dislike about ElevenLabs, but it's not perfect. The only issue I've encountered so far I'd like to see improved is glitching with some of the voices. You will need to carefully proof all audio you're using for things like audiobooks, and regenerate it where needed. You will occasionally have a random noise at the end of a sentence, or the voice may randomly start whispering and cackling like a crazy person. Funny, sure, but not something you want making it through to your final product. I'd like to see this improved over time, but be sure to proof your audio conversions carefully. Creating voice is as as simple as typing and clicking "generate". The quality of the voices is amazing and custom models are actually expressive and incredibly hard to distinguish from the real thing. What's more, when we needed support from the team, they rallied to figure out an urgent situation and really went the extra mile to help us overcome the challenge we faced. Eleven Labs has the ability to do voice to voice, which as a voice over artist allows me to get the perfect inflection and intonation when I need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The renderer has a tendancy to render the first few sentences of text in a hurried or rushed manner, so that it sounds rushed. Commas seem to be ignored and no pause is created between the phrase before the comma and after. Pronunciation is not consistent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that they are so many voices to choose from on the service as well as many professional voice overs to use, all the other services that I used don't have the same quality as elevenlabs or they charge over double the amount of credits to use a professional sounding voice. For the most part is replicates my voice well but still lacks convincing emotive expressions and breathing. It is not there yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With longer (3-5k) it has a tendency to slip into a British accent. It also speeds up about mid-way through. Still struggles with certain things like whispering, slower speech, and varied expressive tones. V1 actually does better than V2 on expressive speech. Variables put into text can come out with weird sounds. Natural breathing is not possible at this time so the final product still sounds like AI voicing. It sometimes glitches and since it takes your credits for each letter and space up front, you just lose those credits. They are good about crediting some back, but I grew tired of having to contact them. I do voice-over for various books, but it is not a good option yet, both for the reasons above and the expense of doing an entire Book. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
