**Reviewed by:** DSivaji . | Application Programmer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

I like the way how the web crawler is scraping all the contents in the website and producing all those details via a search functionality. It makes the developer life more easy by not doing code changes regarding the search functionality.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

The cost of it is high as well as they are providing very little trial time. As a high price service provider, they need to provide more time to explore and adapt the technologies and service they are offering

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The complete website functionality has been implemented here, it solves the customers life more easy, by typing the actual content they want & get the desired results in a short time. They don't need to explore the whole site for to just get a simple result

  ### 3. Need Search Functionality , Try -> ElasticSearch

Not providing much feasibility on updating the UI components they are providing. Cost-wise it's a little high. Need to increase their trial period. And less tutorial for this

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

If you want to incorporate a scalable search bar with less code implementation then you will definitely like elastic search

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have added the search bar into our homePage with the help of elastic search. It has provided all the required functionalities for the search, we have not created any API's for it. Less code.

Drop in Javascript on your website & additional markup elements within content of your website will enable you great search & features like auto complete etc., for which you don't need to code.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Pricing & Licensing had jump since it's been acquired by Elastic Search.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Swiftype is a good product, but it is in EOL by 2023 as it is acquired by Elastic Search, so if you wish to continue work with Elastic Search, then it is an excellent product. Otherwise, there are alternatives like Algolia etc.,

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing full site search with Free Text search on the website is made easy by Swiftype.
You don't need to write custom code to enable tracking, able to view the analytics of the search being done on the website & get insights into what your customers are looking onto your website.

We use Elasticsearch in our app for auto-completion and did-you-mean functionality. Auto-completion functionality helps point users to relevant documents as they type. `did-you-mean` functionality allows correcting queries with typos and suggesting the most relevant search request to users.

  ### 7. Advanced search mechanism with elastic search

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasmeet singh V. | Software Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

I don't know the backend of elastic search but the way it perform searches is incredible. I have 90000 records in my index and each record was quite huge but still while fetching it just didn't take long time.

It work very fast and incredibly

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There should be some proper documentation for request and expected response from elastic search.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used elastic search for distance query and geolocation query where I was suppling coordinates for the same and in return I am getting data or record present inside it.

It is super cool how elastic search searches in geo way.

  ### 8. Very versatile search engine makes my services fast as the speed of light

- Going through the elasticsearch data with Kibana is a plus.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

- Documentation is often very confusing.
- Error reporting is not clear sometimes due to which it takes time to debug the queries.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Read the documentation thoroughly and try to optimize the queries by using multiple ways.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using elasticsearch to store eCommerce product details using Kafka and log-stash. Elasticsearch has very good speed and its easy to ingest data using Python.

  ### 9. Best tool for web analytics, log analysis and works pretty well like a db

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andriy S. | Back End Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Elastic search is the best tool for working with textual information.

The first advantage is a speed of search of your indexed documents. Millions of documents can be processed and be ready for search immediately.

The second big advantage of elastic search is its scalability. You can start with 1 node but when your project grows you simply adding nodes to the cluster and elastic search manages everything by itself and transfer data equally among nodes.

The third advantage is pretty powerful "free-tier" which is ideal for the startup projects.

Elastic search has a lot of products from the same company ("Elastic stack") which as a set is very powerful "toolbox" for solving set of problems such as: website log analysis, analyzing scientific information, presenting information in graphical form.

My favorite feature is data aggregations when the developer can set a query inside query and then split response for buckets and aggregations do not add any time for query execution.

Working with GEO - data "out- of-the-box"

Elastic search uses http access which is much more convenient than working with Java Lucene directly. In addition response is given is JSON, which is very easy to process.

Additionally it has almost all main languages package support, so we parse data with GO-lang and show it on the website with Java-script.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

It's hard to find... However elastic search requires a lot of operative memory as its based on Java and Java Virtual Machine. Its Query DSL (Domain Specific Language) is very different from SQL, so it has some learning curve.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

The first recommendation is security - ALWAYS protect 9200 default port (it's better to change the default port in settings), also close a Kibana port 5601. You will be hacked immediately and all your data will be deleted.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use elastic search like a database in real estate website. It fits much better to the task than a SQL database as it provide much more capabilities for data analysis.

  ### 10. Elasticsearch for data business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santosh B. | Technical Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Setting up ES is quick and easy for experimentation with Docker. Creating an index on ES is a seamless app experience. Due to the large user base, building frontend apps with ES integration was easy to hire for.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

The only downside is the work you need to do to structure the date before import. It’s also difficult to update the ES mapping afterwards

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building a data business licensing research data for AI development. ES provides a powerful backend for searching through complex datasets and provides more features out of the box than if we had used a nosql db

  ### 11. We used swiftype for 5+ years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

It has best grade plugins available. Majorly we used jquery plugin that is easily usable.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Because of unstructured data, some time the accuracy of swiftype results are not of great quality.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are searching in our documentation, all static webpages and Knowledge base articles.

  ### 12. Best platform for ElasticSearch Query and Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

The dev console is very good for writing queries and running them

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Error handling is not good, Like if I write a query and it throws an error messages are not clear

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

There are multiple ways of using kibana in data science field, read about them thoroghly

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are storing eCommerce data in elastic search and we use kibana to run queries and analyze the data

  ### 13. Searching Became Efficient With Elastic Search

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aakash P. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

As I have already had the title as Searching made easy with Elastic search. The important part of it is that it stores the data in a file and thus makes the search more efficient and faster. We can search the table columns, we can also search for the specific text present in the document in a very faster way. but it would have become difficult in the case of relational DB's.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

The thing I do not like is that it takes more time to sync the records. Suppose if I wanted to process say 10k records then it takes more time to sync the docs. Thus it shows some kind of inconsistency between data, but after sometime when we refresh, it shows the correct data.
Shard failures occurs so that become difficult to solve.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Searching made easy with Elastic Search.
We can search for anything like a specific value from the document in an efficient and faster way.
Easy to Index.
Great support of the libraries.

  ### 14. Elasticsearch is easy to set up and provides searchers with the results they are looking for

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James M. | Web Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Setup is a snap. With some JavaScript and an HTML tag, you can be up and running in no time. Administration and analytics is also intuitive, making training optional for marketing staff that want to analyze data right away. It allows you to weight your search, add synonyms, examine useful insights and extend with engagement modules.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There's nothing to dislike. Elasticsearch can be extended in many different ways, and some of them, like adding images to search, will require learning how to properly tag content and allocating time to add those tags.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Although we already had an enterprise search tool built in to our CMS, Elasticsearch was easier to install, configure and administer than what was already built in. The search results were also cleaner and more relevant. In some instances, we wanted to manually make some pages always rank at the top - and manual tweaking was also easy. Most of all, it's a big win for our visitors, who can always get relevant search results that takes them to the content that they need.

  ### 15. Blazing fast search engine, but a steep learning curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristi C. | Web developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Speed! ElasticSearch is FAST. It is also flexible. You can create very complex index structures, with filters, aggregations, vast array of sorting options, structuring your documents in a 'noSQL' way and deploy it either on one node or multiple nodes for performance and spreading the load across multiple devices. It works on a local server as well as in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

It is hard to get started with the syntax, the DSL, understanding the intricacies. I also don't like that they deprecate things too fast. Before you can learn how everything works and you manage to implement it, a new version comes out and some of the features are deprecated. The syntax is quite hard to get a hold of and knowing where everything goes is a challenge when you are starting out. The documentation on the website is quite hard to navigate, most of the time you find yourself on the wrong version and the examples don't apply. Many times, the examples are out of date and do not work, even if you are on the correct version.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Start simple!

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have developed my own e-commerce search engine, integrated with my e-commerce applications. We've increased speed and relevance of results in our website searches as well as added capability for filtering, sorting, scoring, relevance tweaking and more things we could not do with our previous search engine.

  ### 16. Excellent search engine, fast and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katherine C. | Business Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

I have no problem with this software, it does its job correctly, which is the most important thing, it has offered me everything I am looking for in this type of software, I have no negative comments about Swiftype.

  ### 17. Search your index at a blazing fast response times with Elastic

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nishant A. | Cloud Architect, Civil Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Elasticsearch works on Lucene which makes it perform searches on the index/metadata available. It is also good enough to perform an analysis of the searched content.
It just works with any cloud/ on-prem environment.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Elastic nodes require to have a large amount of memory and storage in order to work.
Our Elastic is hosted on Azure and we have been using premium disks for better IOPS which results in big cost

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have using Elasticsearch hosted on Azure Cloud to perform searches on our storage blobs which has the project data from the last 60 years
We are also ingesting our events generated in Azure to Elasticsearch with the help pipelines in Logstash

  ### 18. Swiftype as a unique experience for enterprise search managers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sunny F. | QA Specialist at Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Most of its functionalities are totally flexible, in every aspect relatively known and frequently used by the users that govern these software installations, including its initiative stage in any platform in which it is going to be integrated, to get I take advantage of its very collaborative tools, which allow easier and more fluid access, including that its support system is very bold and strong, since it offers the precise and necessary answers, for the problems that arise with this program, with a rapidity extraordinary.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There are drastically no configuration options to index documents made from word or any PDF format, mostly to customize them to our most conducive and demanding environments, which we want to capture in the system, which is a problem that is not intended for the complete comfort of users who stay on this platform, highlighting that it would be quite useful if this function is available for familiar personal use.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

It is a perfect system for companies that have departments involved in digital marketing, since it offers data with priority objectives, to do a good job in the area of electronic commercial sales, giving advice to increase the productivity and agility of each one of the processes that a company must carry out, with powerful search managers to encourage competition monitoring and thus provide better prices and services for the facilities, being a fairly complex and sophisticated system for the most part.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this software as our main objective, in the departments based on electronic commerce and digital marketing, to promote a greater scope of data that is very useful for a more complete and secure process when carried out in its entirety, which allows us a fresh margin without limits of the income that we constantly generate, since in the same way we extract necessary information from the profiles of our users, in order to have relevant ideas about what we should offer for a common purpose, in accordance with the growth of the infrastructure of the organization we own.

  ### 19. Fast and efficient search engine

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alice B. | Senior Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

  ### 20. A quick search with Swiftype.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhava S. | RPA Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

This software is a sophisticated and understandable tool in most of its collaborative efforts that it has designed in its programming, I mainly like Swiftype since it is a very powerful fluid administrator and provider, in other aspects we could consider that it is the best in its class, when we address information issues that it offers in large proportions to all establishments that come to integrate this system into their platforms, including large companies, thanks to its rapid and effective development.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

It should be determined that this software, although it has incredible tools that promote good operation, we can highlight that these virtues have a negative aspect, and this is that it is expensive in each function it has designed, which is not appropriate for companies low category in work performance, mainly due to the simple fact that they cannot meet the constant payment established by Swiftype, being a minimal problem, which does not affect their processes, but economically on a large scale.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

It is ideal for companies that are structurally virtual, and need a powerful and solid search manager, which allows them to investigate their priorities on a large scale and at a fairly considerable and fast speed, which accesses a better flow, including that you can look for any objective that is proposed because it has an extensive information base in its main panel, the reason why to manage your inquiries more efficiently without any kind of problem or interruption by nefarious advertisements.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Swiftype to a large extent mainly because it provides us with a search system, with very balanced information in its diverse variety, especially for online digital marketing, since it allows us to carry out research about the pages where we can perform our service, and on a multiple scale, which benefits us in a considerable proportion, and sometimes we use it for more explicit purposes about our own site to mostly view the platform from a good point of view.

  ### 21. Extremely great tool with accurate results production.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josephine C. | IT Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

None. Very easy tool to deploy and get moving even to those users with little experience with familiar tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Swiftype is the only tool option for the effective and accuracy searching system, offering quick predictive search results and an easy interface to start using.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick obtaining of predictable searches, and effective results tracking and some more benefits from the tool.

  ### 22. Versatile search manager tool adaptable to whatever environment you engage in.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert D. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

It should be noted that the interface that it contains in all the search managers that the software has, are totally incredible, since it contains information quite relevant to what the system is based on, in terms of functions, transmitting a modern and luxurious appearance to at the same time, so that large companies can focus on this multi functional service, naming certain keywords on their home page that make the content shorter, but at the same time more powerful, which I love unlimited when viewing it.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

We can critically determine that Swiftype contains very high costs, which can be a fairly significant problem, since each package with different and improved functionality contains a different cost each, which could be a margin of availability for companies with a smaller development, that is, it does not reach the financial monthly payments that the software requires for its operation on a particular platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

It contains characteristics in totally recommended environments, more than anything it is based on the cloud and its precise administration and search is specific and effective, providing the information that any company wishes to acquire, underlining that it is useful for various categories of organizations, as that also adapts to their work fields, because the data that Swiftype contains is versatile for all who come to use this platform, thanks to the fact that it adjusts to its more complex scope.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

We can consider that this software is totally easy to implement to the numerous and different companies that want to use Swiftype for their most contributory needs, mentioning that its flexibility makes it a totally sophisticated system in most of the tools that the program contains. , without excluding that its analysis process for documentation formats is very simple, straightforward and incredible, which when integrated with other services, which show similarity regarding their functions, can be working very quickly.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

As a notable disadvantage of the software, it should be noted, that it can take a totally disastrous time to fully index a large enough website, in which it can contain multiple pages within its search system, which is a problem since it slows down in large proportion the performance, in a way that is not convenient for any company that wants to operate the platform it owns in a faster way, since it is the opposite in fast terms.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

It stands out primarily for quickly adding powerful and flexible search capabilities to a website, which is based on the cloud, being ideal for companies and industries of all sizes, since it adapts perfectly to the environments of each one of these organizations regardless of the size coming from, being highly recommended since Swiftype will provide you with all the tools you need to create a complete and powerful investigation experience.

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Swiftype offers all the necessary tools to create a totally powerful search experience for your website or application, and what I like the most about the case without a long and annoying learning curve to learn to master the subject, because this software contains a flexibility according to its use, which allows users to navigate in a successful and, above all, simple way, I like it since it adapts to the specific concerns that any system operator presents in just minutes.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There is no way to customize parts of the software to adapt to better performance according to the taste of each user, especially in the fields that contain indexing of documents in different attached formats, both pdf and word, then This is a problem of intermediate magnitude, because with this option it would benefit in a great proportion in business cases since they acquire a great breadth of data, which this tool is not available at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

If you need a search solution for websites or applications that could index your pages and offer fast and relevant research results to each of the users belonging to your digital platform, then Swiftype is the best alternative for your company with emergencies of appropriate content inquiries, providing large amounts of data for full benefit, ensuring flexibility, especially if you want to complete the index of these contextual topics online through a virtual crawler.

Elastisearch has an effective programming facility, it has a consolidated experience, it creates a model of the system requested by our clients, it makes very detailed consultations through virtual libraries that certify key information for the development of my company, its research process Manager is extremely fast which makes it requested by different interested users, I love its interface, it has a motivating aspect and it is based on modernity.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

You have the ability to search only commercial content when the data is in the computer field, otherwise it determines a deficiency in poor documentation at favorable administrative levels, recreating unnecessary solutions, it can be an annoying job if you break it, since it is easy to lose data in such a way that it cannot be acquired in the system again.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

The capacity of the data warehouse and its search speed are extraordinary, making it accessible to any company, whether small, medium, or large, without exceptions. It is one of the best software options for its informal management functionality. Developers admire its open source software, which allows access even for new customers in the field. I recommend it because it excels primarily in its search performance.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Elasticsearch in our organization to fundamentally index our data, which allows searches at an ultra-fast level, facilitating significant progress on a highly compliant interest rate scale that generates free profit due to its free aspect that makes it excellent at its overwhelming speed while allowing us to store large volumes of data in real time. In particular terms, at a glance, it is easy to understand the information it offers and at the same time move on to other tasks.

It has an altered and expensive cost of payment, which makes smaller companies unable to pay for the software, finally we can add that it does not have ready-to-work indexes, especially when adding a new website, therefore it can be later, index a specific platform launched to the cloud.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Swiftype provides me with all the necessary tools to create an incomparable and powerful search experience in different emblems of useful and balanced information for my company, improving a digital sales flow adapted to my specific needs in a matter of minutes thanks to perfect indexing , I recommend it.

  ### 27. One of the best options on the market to implement a search engine system for your website

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Omar G. | IT Support Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Considering that, although Swiftype is not a software with the quality of large companies like Google, it has a fairly stable performance and what I like most about Swiftype is that is very simple, you don't gotta have much programming knowledge. It is designed for any company or person who wants to improve their search system on their website, making it fast and intuitive with professional configuration tools but which in turn are easy to use. It also has its suite for expert developers who can customize their search functions and control their API platform.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Swiftype is a good tool for what it does, but the lack of many functions that other companies such as Google have at reasonable prices makes it stay in a bad position. The prices between the 3 pricing plans are a bit exaggerated, so you should choose wisely and analyze the needs in the medium and long term. Also, some plugins sometimes fail to integrate with Wordpress and other platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

The software is highly recommended since it provides you premium tools to create a good search system for your website, even if it is somewhat expensive. Maybe there are better options on the market in terms of prices, but in functionality Swiftype is very good.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It does what it is supposed to do, since it provides predictable search results with the ability to modify the classification of search results, this solves many problems, especially for those who browse your website and are looking for something in specific. The best benefit that I have noticed when using this software is that it is possible to configure the search engine of your site in a very simple way, I do not need great programming knowledge.

  ### 28. Swiftype offers the most powerful search Engine and easy to set up.

Highly recommendable search product for quality, accurate and productive search results and also great package for websites management.

  ### 29. Elastic search - fast and efficient

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Elastic search is Java backed search engine with fast and efficient processing.
Supports full text search over http web interface.
Other features like multitenancy, real time search and it uses lucene library.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Multi-language support does not exists for handing request and response data.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Highly recommend it to used for developing enterprise search application with an exception of multi-language support

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enterprise search requirement to search over large repositories with contents and assets which frequently changes and need to be indexed realtime.

  ### 30. NoSQL search everything technology

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keith L. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2015

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

I was playing around with Couchbase and I saw the plugin with Elasticsearch. It was pretty easy to install based on a JVM and connected easily to Couchbase. Suddenly, we could search all our data with one huge reverse index. Of course, you do need to refine your queries, but it proved so powerful, right out of the gate. The developer community also seems quite strong, and since it is RESTful it can serve many environments. I have been using NEST to connect from .Net server. Cluster seems very resilient when nodes drop, and indexes new data very fast, and also queries very fast. Marvel Sense provides a nice intellisense to write your DSL queries.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Though you can monitor the cluster from RESTful queries, you have to use either the head plugin or the marvel plugin to monitor the cluster. Whenever you change your schema, you have to reindex your data which is basically reloading all your data. Though it seems like it could be a permanent data store, the Elasticsearch people say it should not be trusted to be a permanent data store. I have reloaded my indexes many times, due to schema changes, so it is just as well. Security is also an option you only get with the enterprise version. Otherwise it is completely open.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

The first thing you need to do is turn your data into JSON objects. It does not matter at first if you get the JSON design correct, since Elasticsearch allows for an iterative development process. Just dive in.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted a very flexible and open way to search our data. We felt hemmed in by SQL queries and a fixed schema, and Elasticsearch has realized our vision of a very open ended search of our data, and it is super fast.

  ### 31. Powering our search tasks to the fullest

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonas V. | Sales Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Using Swiftype does not require any high-level knowledge in set up programming, thanks to this novice users will be able to get acquainted with the software without any problems and take advantage of its useful functions. A powerful and extendable API is available, it allows developers to build applications and micro services integrating all Swiftype functions. Data indexing is extraordinary in addition of being one of the fastest I've tried in a long time.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There is a problem regarding the number of pages indexed for the plan we chose, due to the heavy load of documents that the crawler indexed the number of pages exceeded the quota of our plan, I do not know as a step this as we made sure to choose a plan that would fit the number of documents that we were going to use, we contacted the support and it turned out to be a configuration problem in their back end, once this was all done everything go smoothly.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

When searching for a SaaS search engines it is necessary to evaluate a series of parameters that will make you choose the best option with a completely objective approach, among these parameters are Results, Set up, Analytics, Pricing, Support. In all these you will find this software among the best option that stands from the others in the market, out of the box engine set up, automatic crawler, real time analytics data and a number of advantages that Swiftype brings with it that will make it very difficult to decide for other software.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously our department was running behind in getting a proper configuration that was stable without false positives but no matter what we were doing we could not find a proper solution, with this software we were able to configure the crawler in the specific way that we wanted, lowering to the maximum the number of false positives that might arise and until now we have not had such problems again.

  ### 32. Fast, intuitive and easy to use search engine with an acceptable Wordpress plugin.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander W. | Sales Marketing Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

As a marketing professional I need to boost sales at a fast pace in order to attract as many customers as possible. Thanks to Swiftype we can carry out easy searches and at a fast pace currently plays an important role in our company. The configuration is very simple and I love that it can be integrated with wordpress and mobile applications. The analysis of geographic information is quite complete with very accurate results when using it. Flexible management and a very skilled team.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

The integration with wordpress works quite badly the plugin in many occasions generates failures. The price structure doesn't seem right to me, it's almost 80$ a month for a good but not excellent search system. By 2019 the company was really presenting problems in their support team leaving really bad in their services. However, I bet they will be better by 2020.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

I can recommend Site search because it really does the job it was made for. However, I must stress that it has many problems with regard to its integration, especially Wordpress, so if you really want to acquire the search engine, I think you should analyze well what you want and seek for your work. It is a young company and will surely improve in the future.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to carry out powerful and fast searches in such a way as to be able to capture organic traffic in an intuitive and cunning way. I use the wordpress plugin as a bold and versatile integration for search work.

  ### 33. The Swiftype Search platform is fully designed to meet the search needs of its users.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ron O. | Marketing Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Swiftype Search is a truly comprehensive platform that provides a variety of tools needed to build a very good search experience for your users' websites or applications. Swiftype Search allows you to create and manage a search experience tailored to the specific needs and patterns of your users very quickly. Swiftype Search is distinguished by being fully relevant software, having intuitive customization features and being easy to install. In general Swiftype Search is a very easy to configure platform and provides fairly accurate search results, its interface is really powerful and easy to work with, in general Swiftype Search is a simple but highly functional platform.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

I would like to have more control over how search results are generated, because currently it is a bit imprecise when performing searches and can be a headache for users. I also think that the 3 plans offered by Swiftype Search are a bit exaggerated and you really have to know how to choose according to the needs of the user, because they are really expensive, personally I think it would be very favorable Swiftype Search to have a cost structure a little cheaper so that many more people can purchase the service of Swiftype Search.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

I recommend Swiftype Search because it is a platform of very good operation and high functionality, Swiftype Search is very easy to use, its interface is extremely simple but very complete, Swiftype Search provides the best experience to work because it is very useful, really this platform is distinguished by providing much solidity and guarantee of its service.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been using Swiftype Search for several years now, and I must say that although it has been a platform that has had some setbacks it has been very functional for us in our company, it has really helped us to simplify our work, as it is very easy to work with and configure, in general we consider that Swiftype Search has been a very strategic tool for our company.

  ### 34. Great search-tool, better and clearer results

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Customer have the possibility to just enter one letter and the engine checks the search requests and interests of the visitor and knows directly what to show. The automatically keyword reader shows the available postings also from the whole topic.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

The dashboard gives us a datasheet of the whole period but the real-time data it’s not correct - we tried it and we see data with delay or just no results.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

I think that you should analyze the user and customer search requests and also the results that shows the system - so you can control and analyze the results.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving visitors on the website the perfect search engine - whole database will be checked by projects. The mobile application is responsive and works as it should.

  ### 35. I don't know any alternative, elasticsearch is very good.

**Reviewed by:** Geras G. | Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Most likely functions are fuzziness, synonyms and other all functions.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There is nothing that I can say that dislike this product.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

I am recommending to use Elasticsearch and move your application backend side (I mean the part where frontend call to backend retrieve a data) to Elasticsearch

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's easy to use, I am switching my application backend API call side to ElastSearch.

  ### 36. Very good software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonardo P. | Agente de Suporte Tecnico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Set-up and install was quick and easy, even for multiple sites. Customized result rankings are a key feature for us (although if you have a ton of results, it can be a little tedious to go through) that is also easy to use, along with the ability to create synonym sets for various search terms. Many of our search terms have variations or are easily misspelled, so the synonym set has greatly reduced the number of empty searches that users were experiencing.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Theming of the search bar and results isn't exactly intuitive and can require a little guidance. Some pieces could use an upgrade (such as the color picker) to make it easy to theme based on your branding guidelines.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

all my problems

  ### 37. I used Elastic search as a search Engine .

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Elastic search worked on the top of Lucene Engine .Elastic search is an open source search engine which is very good in performance. As Elastic search is a document oriented database that is why it worked on full text search that is why it is fast in searching . I like the performance of elastic search.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Till now everything is good, I personally feel good while using elastic search.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used elastic search for searching logs while implementing ELK stack to monitoring logs. I feel elastic search good because it is very fast in searching and also scalable.

  ### 38. Very fast search engine

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhananjay S. | Full stack developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Apache Elasticsearch is very fast search engine. It is very easy to use. It is real time, open source and distributed. Its response time is in milliseconds. It is json based on search engine. It also has HTTP web interface. Elasticsearch is developed in Java. We have many java libraries available to access Elastic search for example Jest client. I also has Kibana which is an open source data visualization plugin for Elasticsearch.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Nothing as such. Only the Elasticsearch json queries we need to learn before using this.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

There are other search engines in the market, Cosmos DB is one of them, but costly to use. This one is easy to use and 2 digit millisecond response time. So please go for it.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is document based, that is no-sql. It helps to me search, filter and sort the data in real time. If we manually implement such then that may cause serious performance issue. It can be used as a document based database as well.

  ### 39. A great search engine.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James W. | Computer Professional, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

We have introduced Swiftype on around two dozen of our web properties and preferred the authoritative offices. Nobody in my organization had any past involvement with including a custom internet searcher and with Swiftype we were fully operational in 24 hours.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Given that making the right arrangement of list items is the essential capacity of this sort of item, this defect implies that Swiftype is unusable. Overall its great products.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Its really great engine to search up. I highly recommend.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the wake of investigating Swiftype versus another apparatus, this one emerged in light of the more powerful highlights with result positioning. We were likewise ready to accomplish something we didn't set out to fix, which was the longing to have a "related substance" bar at the base of all our blog entries.

  ### 40. Robust solution for search and indexing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Incredibly broad API. You can really do a lot of things with ElasticSearch when it comes to search and data, and I haven't even scratched the surface.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Since there are so many APIs and tools within ES, and variety between releases, it can be difficult to figure out if you are using the API correctly or not. The DSL is not exactly easy to follow.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

If you are just using basic functionality, you may be able to just use your regular DB and it's functionalities.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to power a search algorithm that caters results to the user's needs.

  ### 41. Fantastic search engine

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

It's fast and reliable, very useful for searching and filtering large data sets. It's one of best ways to allow your app users to quickly navigate into your data, with full text search support, and aggregations help to increase power of filtering.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Query language isn't the easy thing to implement, specially when you need advanced features (like search, aggregations with nested aggregations, plus filters and all in a single query).

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Great tool to use with your app, useful also for managing logs or exploring any data with Kibana.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping our users to navigate into own data, generating reports, allowing a search across entire app or in particular features.

  ### 42. Increased my sales!

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Using swift type allowed for my most relanvent items to be surfaced by my customers!

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

A little pricey after the initial trial, but not was it worth the results!

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Try it for at least a few at least a few months! It takes a little to see the results

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have found a major increase in sales after using swift type!

  ### 43. SwifType search results are incorrect

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | President, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

We have installed Swiftype on about two dozen of our web properties and liked the administrative facilities.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Unfortunately, and this is VERY SERIOUS, we have noticed that the search results returned by Switftype are incorrect. Some of the results that it SHOULD BE including for a given user keyword request are NOT included and some of the results that it IS including DO NOT match the keyword request.

We have worked with their technical support to no avail.

Unless you test your search results carefully, you wont notice this very serious flaw in the product.

Given that creating the correct set of search results is the basic function of this kind of product, this flaw means that Swiftype is unusable.

We are now in the process of converting to another product.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Find another product

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned, we have discovered that Swiftype is unusable to solve the basic problem that it is advertised for.

  ### 44. Bringing the most relevant content to the right audience

**Reviewed by:** Jo H. | Social Media Assistant & Community Moderator, Outsourcing/Offshoring, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2018

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Excellent search solution that helps you to quickly connect your most relevant content to customers. The iOS and Android apps make it even easier to manage content and stay productive on the go. The result ranking tool is extremely useful, and support is second to none.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

More of the synonym features would be great without having to jump up to such a great cost, but overall it is worth it for a site with a lot of content.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Utilise the Support Team if you have any questions as they are so helpful and knowledgeable.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to pull multiple search results from more than one source, allowing for greater, more customisable and relevant search results.

  ### 45. Solid product, Excellent Support

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Customer service is fantastic, so don't be hesitant in reaching out to them with any questions, especially pre-sale. Take the demo they offer, it can really help you understand if this solution will work for you or not.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a more customizable solution for pulling search results from multiple databases. Swiftype has allowed us to remove barriers we faced with custom search results and real time suggestions.

  ### 46. Perfect for content rich sites

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian J. | Head of IT and Development, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

A team of software developers that listen to your needs and are willing to work with you to get to a package you need.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

They only have an office on the west coast US, which means since our office is in the UK support can take a while to get back to me. I hear they are thinking of opening an office in Europe soon, so hopefully that will be rectified! I also hope they implement a custom search parameter for their Related Content feature - which although powerful is rather limited at the moment.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Have a chat with them, they are really friendly and won't pester you if it turns out its not for you.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have over 10,000 pages of content, building our own solution would take far too many hours. Swiftype's crawl is intuitive and 'smart', it takes the burden off the content managers shoulders and through built-in analytics we can create new search terms based on what is a trending topic on our site.

  ### 47. Easy to use, easy to understand.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

I love how simple and easy to use their platform is. Our previous on-site search system was very complicated and didn't make it easy to see the low-hanging fruit. I also really enjoy utilize the result ranking tool and the analytics.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

I do wish that you could get more of the synonym features without having to jump up to a much higher price point. We are a small company and just can't afford to spend that much on-site search.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

If you can afford it, I would suggest getting the enterprise version. It's a higher price, but you get more features.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have gotten a lot better at analyzing the site searches our customers are making because Swiftype has excellent analytics and insights. We have also gotten a lot better at creating pinned search results so that we control what our customers find when they search on our site.

  ### 48. Best search engine out there for REST!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Very good REST API support to search and index documents/ data. The documentation is pretty solid and verbose as well which makes it easy to understand and write queries. Very good support for issues. They even released elastic cloud recently which makes it even better to set up clusters and interact with your data.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

Wish the REST browser plugin was still supported. But it's fine without it as well

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Search of product configs

  ### 49. Simple and straightforward search engine

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel G. | Co-founder + VP of Engineering, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

I love how easy it was to get up and running. No one in my company had any previous experience with adding a custom search engine and with Swiftype we were up and running in 24 hours.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

I dislike the lack of control for differentiating between common words and strings of words. For example, a common problem we had is that a user would search for "gluten free" and a bunch of results would show up that included the word "free" but not the word shipping. This is likely a limitation of search in general, so idk if it's fair to hold that against Swiftype.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our users trend towards "search first" navigation. Being able to give them that quickly without having to make significant development investments was very beneficial.

  ### 50. Excellent Site Search Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard D. | Web Application Developer, Internet, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Elasticsearch?**

Swiftype Site Search is very easy to use and I was able to implement the basic search functionality in about an hour. It's also very powerful and customizable to meet specific business needs. Their support has been very friendly and helpful when I needed additional assistance.

**What do you dislike about Elasticsearch?**

There is no way to customize the fields of indexed PDF and Word documents.

**Recommendations to others considering Elasticsearch:**

Highly recommended. Sure, it's possible to build a site search solution yourself from various open source solutions, but that requires a team with specialized knowledge capable of customizing, integrating, and maintaining the various pieces. Swiftype is a much more cost-effective turnkey solution in my opinion.

**What problems is Elasticsearch solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our website needed to migrate off of unsupported Google search solutions to a more modern and powerful search solution. Swiftype has been very easy to implement and is faster and delivers more relevant results and advanced functionality not previously available with our previous search solution.
