My company uses Egnyte as a primary server for many remote workers around the US. I love how you can easily set up files and permissions, share the files etc. I can upload files and get links to send items to outside people without issues. In the 4+ years of use, I can't recall any problems with companies retrieving the files I've sent to them. I believe I am only using a small portion of what Egnyte has to offer, but I'm sure I'd be happy using it all. The biggest issue is that much of it is screenshots that don't have active links. If I need to access something from my company on my personal computer last minute, I'm able to. This has tremendously helped me be more productive. If I'm traveling and I need to complete something last minute, having my entire company's documents and drive is very useful. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** Sometimes it takes a while for Egnyte to update. I'm also unsure if it is possible not to get a company-wide notification every time someone updates the Egnyte drive. I'm sure my company chooses this, so it's not too big of an issue. I have been in the situation where it appears that my files are synced only to find that I was viewing the notification for the wrong product. This can sometimes result in having to reapply updates/changes/additions to avoid overwriting changes made by another team member. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** Egnyte solves the issue of having to rely on Windows file recovery to revert to previous versions of files. The syncing process for all users with the cloud and server. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** I'm not sure why, but some clients reported that when I send them Egnyte links, they are blocked, perhaps that's because of their firewalls or security systems and I wonder if Egnyte can investigate that is why some security protocols don't allow users to open Egnyte links. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's solving: - the need for flexible storage - the need for flexible redundancy between on-premise server and cloud (hybrid system), ensuring our files are safe and protected against power outages, accidents, etc. - the need for security (power users, standard users, send links externally with passwords/expiry, etc.) - mobility as I travel a lot and need to stay in touch with the team and share files. - upload files and photos from any device anywhere. ### 28. The usability and layout is easy to learn and manage as well. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** The only unsolvable issue I've had with Egnyte was with editing a file then re-saving it back to Egnyte. I've gone through three different Egnyte support reps who were all very helpful, but none could figure out why my files would try to open through WebEdit, then give an error message and not be accessible anywhere. I have to download the file each time, edit it, then re-save it with the same title to get around this issue. This is a minor inconvenience I've gotten used to, and other than this, I've had no issues. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** Egnyte helps keep all our files is a central location and makes sharing of these files between coworkers and clients easy and seamless. Their developer documentation for their API (and the fact that they have an API) was also particularly nice. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** At times we found the cost could be a little prohibitive given that we were a smaller company and couldn't afford higher monthly fees for some of the more enterprise-like features. This isn't a problem unique to Egnyte however. UPDATED: An Egnyte rep reached out to me after finding me via LinkedIn, trying to sell their service to me now that I was working for a new company. I declined to answer the email as I don't entertain direct marketing pitches like that and I was signed up for an Egnyte newsletter as a result. While I would have considered using Egnyte if our needs required it, I can't consider them an option or recommend them to anyone after this. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** Egnyte solved the issues we had with sharing lots of large video files with clients remotely. Increases control over who gets access to documents and what actions may be taken on those documents. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** It does not support files greater than 15GB and has extremely limited offline access control. It presently does not support third-party app integrations. They utilize basic encryption in transit and at rest, making it impossible to submit important data. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** We may access the files from any location. You may also edit your files from anywhere, on any device: at home, at work, or through mobile applications. This functionality enables distant work and simple on-site collaboration. Load your local files onto a disk and access them when needed; instead of replacing your laptop, you may log in and utilize it from any laptop. Furthermore, the video footage of the team meeting is stored to Egnyte for convenient access. My company benefits from centralized data storage with access control throughout the enterprise. ### 39. But I wouldn't have written this review if it weren't so difficult to cancel my subscription! Over the past 2 years the app has changed in ways I don't need and has not changed in ways that I DO need, so I decided to cancel my subscription. I wrote to Egnyte to cancel my subscription and I received this reply: "Per our Terms, we require cancellation requests to be submitted at least 30 days prior to the annual renewal. Since your account renews on 09/08/2022, the earliest we could close the account is 09/07/2023." So, because I am 8 days late to cancel, they are forcing me to pay for, and keep the app for a FULL YEAR! I enjoyed working with the Egnyte team to assist in moving 55+ TB of data from all our on-prem servers to Egnyte. We had to set up a couple of Egnyte Sync Servers to help with sites with slow internet links. They also worked with us on a schedule to do some training for a big audience. Going the extra mile following up with issues. **What do you dislike about Egnyte?** There is not much to dislike. We have been using Egnyte for about 3 years now so one could say we were 'early adopters. We took a big risk in moving all our data to a cloud storage provider but with all their governance and reporting at our fingertips, we are never in the dark about where our data is. The platform has grown and is evolving so I can only see it getting better. **What problems is Egnyte solving and how is that benefiting you?** Removing on-prem servers. Providing a collaborative environment for teams. Giving our users the ability to share files with external contacts.
