They have problems that should have simple solutions but are not able to implement these solutions. I like that it will integrate info from insulin pumps, fit bit, digital scales. I like the flow tracking of the patients. It is pretty easy to understand from a user standpoint. I just recently started with this system so I have much to learn. I have used many different EMR/EHR software. Again, there is some things I do like about this system, however this would not be my first choice in software for a practice to use. I am a nurse and I don't think there is a good flow to this system. There are many places that need to be improved. I like that it works and it is accessible just about anywhere. That is just about it. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** Currently using eClinicalWorks 11e. I think that the people who develop and design this system or any system need to be on the front lines with the doctors and nurses, the front desk staff, the coding staff, and anywhere else that the system would be used and really see the workflows. This system has TOO MANY CLICKS. I tried to find a patients guardian information and it was not accessible easily. There needs to be a better way to record EASILY past medical history, procedural history such as Mammograms, DEXA, DM eye exam, etc.. I really DISLIKE the telephone encounter. The initial message can be adjusted (SCARY). I just find it clunky and too many clicks again. The social history is frustrating because I am filling in the smoking question in several different places (why not just have it fill in everywhere?) I do not like the way the visit summary report generates. It could be simplified greatly. Again, I have used GEMMS, Sage Intergy, NextGen, NextMD, EPIC, Meditech and a few others. They all have pros and cons. I would have to say that EPIC is by far the most robust and the one that was the easiest to follow the progress through. I think that with some feedback the company could make improvements and make this an amazing system. **Recommendations to others considering eClinicalWorks:** If you are a specialty like OB/GYN, Eye care, Cardiology really ask the tough questions. Have them give live examples of the system and how it is used. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do not know what this system is solving. The ability to combine multiple entities is fantastic, especially when working on the backend during the collections process. Account ledgers are packed full of detail and each charge/DOS can be separated by entity which is great when managing multiple entities, for example: PRO, ASC, & Anesthesia. Managing all groups without the need to manually switching between profiles/books of business is fantastic. The reporting is full of filters and different ways to drill down data and analyze your practice from top to bottom. Charting has alerts that help prevent the physicians from releasing or signing incomplete records to prevent delays in the collections process, especially delays in billing. The search engine is fantastic, it allows the entire team to easily identify patients even when you only have a small amount provided by the patient. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** Their system can seem extremely overwhelming at first with the detailed interface it can be difficult to navigate and work through the system without proper training. We have frequently run into technical errors with the system freezing at times and we have experienced difficulty connecting and integrating printers and fax machines. For some reason they restrict users from accessing multiple windows or accounts at the same time which can be frustrating when working on the backend during the billing and collections process. eClinical has multiple versions of their practice management software and are frequently releasing updates however they are not always in easily integrated as you'd expect and some features simply don't work the way they were intended. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have multiple clients across the country who utilize eClinicalWorks for managing their outpatient practices. Scheduling, Billing, Messaging, Prescriptions, Reporting, Integrations with hundreds of services. If you want to do it elinicalworks can probably do it or they have a partner that can. The support people are always very friendly, and they respond to tickets quickly. It also runs just fine on low end hardware. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** It requires someone to be responsible for it, a single point of contact is best. That person needs to be aware of any and all changes, any issues, and they need to be vigilant. It is not a set it and forget type of solution. There are numerous things that require manual updating. It is somewhat unstable, and requires frequent support calls. User activity logging leaves a lot to be desired. **Recommendations to others considering eClinicalWorks:** It is better to get everything you want upfront, adding features after going live is complicated because everything is so interconnected, and enabling one thing may change the behavior of the software in a different area. When working with support on an issue be vigilant that what they are doing isn't going break something else. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** The whole practice is built around it. From new patient paperwork to billing everything is done within ECW. Everything is connected back to the encounter and is searchable. Rules can be setup to automate some processes, and when something goes wrong we can follow the thread back to the cause and make necessary changes. ### 23. Interface looks modern as compared to other software. Very easy to manage various aspects of patient medical records. Easy to transition between different sections of information. Can also easily message colleagues. Great product. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** Support staff is absolutely terrible. It seems to be outsourced. expensive product for what you get. I love the product, however the company seems to be mismanaged and comes off as not caring about anyone that they have sold their products to. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** managing the daily operations of a medical office. ### 28. If other people document for you (ex: Medical assistant documents the HPI), they don't automatically get signed on document. I like that it tracks and reports whom enters the patient's chart along with any changes and updating information within the patient's chart. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** I occasionally will come across a message that shows something along the lines of "other user interrupted action" when the task being performed can not be interrupted. Chances are, if you need a feature it will be there. It is relatively easy to use, and flexible enough that it will not hinder you too much when entering patient data. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** All medical records for our patient are maintained within the system (we keep no paper charts). ### 37. ECW is very easy to learn for new employees. It us very user friendly. The color coding and personalization features make it very visually pleasing as well. The screen transitions are generally smooth. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** The constant technical errors and slowness. I am the office manager and I feel like I am putting break fix tickets in every week. The providers are always frustrated with disconnects on their wireless since we switched to cloud a couple years ago it seems it got worse. IT swore that would help our issues. **Recommendations to others considering eClinicalWorks:** If you have it he funds to invest in a better EHR solution I recommend it. However, this is an affordable option if the issues are worth dealing with for the savings. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Medical records are easier to access and transfer. It is also easier to track medications and refills will prescribing than it was with paper charts. It is better for providers and patients. ### 38. Compared with our last EHR there are steps that can take longer in eClinicalWorks versus our older EHR. **Recommendations to others considering eClinicalWorks:** I would recommend using this product because the training time is not bad and their support team is good at getting your problems resolved quickly and they also have a follow up call to ensure your ticket was handled correctly. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** eClinicalWorks allows our practice to complete charts quicker and enables us to better submit complete claims to the insurance companies. ### 41. From entering a patient to setting up appointments, rescheduling as well as referrals. Watts Healthcare Center uses this software for an array of things. Anyone from doctors to Nurses and management communicates via eClinical Works. **What do you dislike about eClinicalWorks?** eClinical Works doesn't really have many flaws. So many great things about this system. I can just name a few. for example, they have something called "bubbles" this can be a bit confusing. as well as generating a report this can also be confusing. **Recommendations to others considering eClinicalWorks:** eClinical Works is definitely the next big thing, I think that every medical facility should be using this software in the near future, the paper is definitely a big no-no. I know that eClinical Works host Super User meetings and also have trainers travel to locations to train staff and for any other troubleshooting that might be needed. They also have many numbers where you can call for technical support. It is a little expensive. Nonetheless, an investment for your company or any other Medical Center. Like I said most medical centers are going to be using eClinical Works. I don't see anything better than this software. **What problems is eClinicalWorks solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some of the business problems that the Watts Health care is solving include managing our patients better as well as having better communication with doctors, nurses management ect. It would be nice if you could upload files directly from the computer versus scanning to get around this problem.
