Top Rated DVMAX Alternatives
It schedules patients and keeps track of files. That's about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nearly everything. The user interface is frustrating, and lacks basic features like being able to use the scroll wheel or changing the file types that emails are sent as. Overall it's a frustrating experience every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
9 out of 10 Total Reviews for DVMAX
I like how easy it is to create and update files, add detailed medical record entries, and search through client records. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
DVMAX syncing to other programs and software (like printers) is challenging to do.
You have to adjust the search feature based on searching pet name, last name, client's name. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have made test layouts for a wide range of animal types and circumstances. My fish test layout is not at all like my senior feline format. I am continually changing my Super Items with the goal that I can without much of a stretch point. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not every pet entrance work in a Mac domain and not all coordinate with DVMax in *any* condition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Beats the old DOS program I first learned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The lack of keyboard shortcuts is aggravating. It forces the user to constantly switch between keyboard and mouse. The Idexx interface is particularly cumbersome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system is fairly easy to learn and train new people on. Scheduling is easy. Inputting a patient is easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Appointments get deleted. Medical records get deleted. Function to set status of appointments changes without prompting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing. I have nothing good to really say about DVMax. I like that there's a button that I can use to print stickers, that's about it though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything. Not a fan of DVMax since it crashes 24/7. You can't work patient charts from home. It's an outdated piece of software that needs to get revamped or replaced completely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I liked about the software is that it will notify your Apple watch or iPhone when lab results are ready Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are too many steps to do things. No smooth transitions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used DVMax while working in a specialty hospital as a radiology technician. We had daily appointment slots so I was interfacing with DVMax on a hourly basis to check appointments, patient history and referring veterinarian documents, evaluations, and lab work. We also used DVMax to directly fax patient reports to their referring veterinarians which was very convenient during busy appointment days.
It was also easy to learn and the functionality was intuitive. It was the first veterinary software I had ever used and I thought it was easy to pick up.
Now my hospital uses Cornerstone, and the interface is very dated, which in comparison to DVMax gives it a low-tech feel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I didn't like that DVMax (at least when I used it) did not have the functionality (or it wasn't enabled by my hospital) for treatment sheets. We had patients in hospital daily, and had to refer to paper-based charts for treatments and constantly import data such as labwork into the system (we have a mix of Idexx and Heska systems in the in-house lab) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They allow you to save "word processing" files (usually used to make regular handouts) that make discharging patients a breeze! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It freezes relatively often, often kicks staff members out, forcing us to log back in and lags. And occasionally, payment processing has errors as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
