## Dscout Reviews
 ### 1. Powerful Research Tool with UI Challenges

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I think Dscout is the best tool for my work as a UX researcher because it fits well with my workflow and has a ton of great features. It supports different ways to do research, configure research tests, and do the analysis, which makes my insights and impact on projects better. The features are very researcher-friendly, and they let me do all the types of qualitative research that I want to be able to do.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I think the information architecture of the site can be confusing. The menus, sub-menus, and headings sometimes make it hard to find specific settings, especially within a mission. I'm often not sure where to look for certain settings.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout to execute and run research studies. It fits well with how I work as a researcher, supporting various research methods and configurations. It enhances my research quality, provides better insights, and increases my project impact.

 ### 2. Effortless Research with Comprehensive Data Capture

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandra S. | Principal UX Researcher

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like that Dscout is very easy for me to be self-service, even though support is always available if I have a question. It's become really easy for me to program and launch a diary study on my own, and I'm so well-versed in it now that I could probably program a week-long diary study within an hour. The buttons and settings are very clear, and I rarely encounter situations where I'm confused about how to approach a question that our client comes to us with. Their support staff is helpful, with a live chat feature, a good FAQ section, and a representative assigned to each account. I find this really helpful. Overall, it's made my work more efficient and streamlined, allowing me to deliver findings to my client faster and more seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Maybe analysis could be improved. Like, right now, when I analyze the data, I'm pretty much doing it entirely on my own. There's just so much data to work with. It would be great if I could just, like, wave a magic wand and have an AI summary of participants' responses to each individual question. And maybe a way to get, like, an AI-generated video highlight reel or something like that.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout organizes complex research, making it digestible and user-friendly for participants. It saves me time with effortless setup and programming, allowing quick delivery of findings. The platform's clear settings make self-service easy, freeing me from complicated competitor tools.

**Official Response from Kate Johnson:**

> Great news Alexandra - Dscout now offers AI Summaries that do exactly what you described!

 ### 3. User-Friendly and Intuitive with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peta C.

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like that Dscout is user-friendly and intuitive, making it convenient to use. The excellent customer service is a big plus for me. I appreciate the modern and simple user interface, which feels much more up-to-date compared to our old platform. There's a lot of built-in support when creating studies, and features like dynamic follow-up are really nice. I find it beneficial that Dscout offers multiple methodologies, easy access to panel recruitment, and good quality participants. The team is very supportive and helps ensure that we have a strong foundation of knowledge while learning the platform.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There's a learning curve when onboarding. Creating separate screeners and missions is a move away from our typical ways of working, but once you have learned the platform setup it works really well.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout provides multiple methodologies and easy access to quality participants for user insights. It's user-friendly, intuitive, and offers excellent customer service. The UI is modern and simplifies study creation with built-in support and features like dynamic follow-ups.

 ### 4. Creative Flexibility with Slow Screening Downside

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael L.

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I appreciate how Dscout allows me to be much more interactive with participants over long periods of time. It gives me the flexibility to be a little more creative with the activities I use, like diary studies and multimedia sharing, instead of being stuck with simplistic, rigid approaches. The freedom to ask participants to make a video or create complex mappings and collages allows for a deeper dive into social interpretation topics that aren't typically discussed. It's great to have tools that let me explore and engage on more nuanced levels with creativity.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

One of the things that's very annoying to me is that my screeners have to be approved by Dscout. That's usually a very quick turnaround, but a lot of my research has to be very fast, so that 24-hour turnaround is just too much time. I'll have to use an inferior tool like user testing to get my screeners through more quickly and my participants recruited more quickly. The general screening process seems to be a little bit more manual, which makes things a little bit slower. Unfortunately, Dscout doesn't allow you to integrate with other tools. I tried to incorporate an Optimal Workshop card sort into a Dscout program, but I was told I had to use their own internal CardSort. For the initial onboarding, there's a significant learning curve. It's a very complicated system. While it's very user-friendly once you get used to it, the onboarding is slow and difficult, and if you want help, it can be expensive.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout lets me be interactive and creative with participants over long periods, using flexible, non-rigid methods for activities like multimedia sharing. It helps explore deeper social interpretations in research that other structured tools can't.

**Official Response from Kate Johnson:**

> Great news, Michael - screener review is an optional setting that your account admin can turn off!

 ### 5. Empowered Our Research with Top-Notch Service and Seamless Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lidybel A. | UX Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout's excellent service, encompassing both the quality of the participating scouts and the capability of their interface, has been a significant asset. Our small team was previously unable to conduct research studies with this frequency, but since adopting Dscout, we have successfully been able to launch a variety of studies nearly every month.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

At this moment, I don't have any dislikes regarding Dscout.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining a constant feedback loop with our users is extremely important. With our lean team, we have greater control and flexibility to explore different methodologies, allowing us to anticipate potential opportunities to enhance the user experience on our website while staying aligned with our business objectives. Dscout also assists us by providing guided support for running complex studies, which is especially helpful when our workload or resources are limited.

 ### 6. Rapid Recruitment, Comprehensive Data Collection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hannah Y.

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I use Dscout for user research, and I love how recruiting is super quick. We can invite our own participants or use Dscout's pool, which is really helpful. The unmoderated usability testing setup is fantastic because it captures participants' screens and voices. It's easy to set up studies and screeners quickly. The data capture is also excellent; everything is laid out for easy analysis, including transcripts, video recordings, and charts for closed-ended questions. The support from our research adviser and account managers during the initial setup was amazing, which made it really easy to get started.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Niche recruits are really hard on Dscout. Like, if we're trying to find children who use our product specifically, it has proven to be difficult because it's self-reported by parents. We're working on finding a way around that. Making clips from the recordings can be tedious and I think there's definitely an opportunity to streamline that workflow a bit better. I appreciate that we can message participants who sign up for moderated interviews and those who participate in diary studies, but I wish we could message participants who partake in our unmoderated studies too. I also see a lot of participants struggle with using the software/extension on their computers and Dscout kind of bloats unmoderated studies with extra clicks and I do see that it annoys participants or they just ignore it entirely, which leads to them not accurately doing the study.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout to quickly recruit participants, including non-users and through a workaround, kids for usability tests. It captures screens, voices, and data efficiently, improving research speed and quality.

 ### 7. Efficient for Participant Recruitment but Needs Faster Approvals

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle W.

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I really like Dscout's feature for screening and recruiting participants. It allows me to put quotas in, which makes it so much easier to use. Unlike UT which I have to set up individual segments to get the right people which is really time consuming and sometimes makes tests take forever to fill. The recruiting pool also has quality people who give good answers and take their time on the things we ask them to do. I also appreciate how you can move questions around, which makes setting up the test super easy. The layout from a test planning perspective is pretty clear.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I don't like how our test plans and screeners have to be approved through Dscout. It makes it really hard to do quick turnarounds with our teams. I wish there was a way to bypass that at times. Once you launch the test, it is a little confusing to navigate back to your screener versus where the test actually lives. Also, when watching back the videos it makes it really hard to follow the transcript with the video. When reviewing all the answers together, It's really hard to figure out what answers go with what participants. It's kind of hard to sort and filter in a way that makes sense to see how certain participants answered throughout the entire test.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is the only platform we have for diary studies, crucial for our research. It simplifies participant screening and recruitment by letting us set quotas, making the process easier.

**Official Response from Kate Johnson:**

> Good news Danielle - screener and mission review are now optional settings that your admin can turn on/off!

 ### 8. Versatile

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The UI is friendly and easy and I really appreciate the assistance we receive from the dscout researchers prior to launching. The ability to run a quick study whether it be set up as a express mission or not. Video submissions for scouts makes a huge difference in finding the right fit for our studies.
The ability to sort, tag and filter results. Video with Transcript is helpful (although not always accurate).

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I've found that there are some applicants to studies that are just trying to make money and do not actually have the expertise or experience in the topics. Information comes over as false and affects the results in survey responses specifically or in Express missions. I wish there were other methods or questioning styles available for media integrations.
I would also like a larger variety of income levels and higher ranges. Some projects may be geared towards a higher income level so I would like to utilize Dscout from that angle more.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Desirability of either a product or experience for early insights has been extremely beneficial. But also understanding pain-points from users experience helps us focus on the right areas on a project.
Customer sentiment is so important when either starting new projects for validating/invalidated a hypothesis. Dscout gets us a greater understanding.

 ### 9. Intuitive and Efficient for Usability Testing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alissa P. | Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I use Dscout for usability testing and prototype validation. Dscout is very user-friendly and has the features we need. I love the way to build questions; it's super easy, and being able to reuse questions as well as screeners is helpful. This saves time and makes iterating on studies much faster. Setting up Dscout initially was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I think there's opportunities to bring in new study types like tree testing, expand language support, and testing pools.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout for usability testing and prototype validation, making it faster to iterate on studies and save time with easy question building and reusable screeners.

 ### 10. Rapid Study Setup, Needs Better Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like that with Dscout, I can get a study up and running with responses in just a couple of days. Usually, qualitative research takes weeks to set up, find participants, and get responses, but with Dscout, it's so quick to set up studies, and the responses usually come in within hours of launching. Also, the initial setup of Dscout for my team was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I find the reporting as an admin lacking because I cannot always track usage in the most meaningful ways. I would like to be able to track the usage per mission, how many credits and incentive dollars, as well as who is active on the platform to track users.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout to run quick studies for qualitative research, reducing setup and response time from weeks to just a couple of days.

 ### 11. Easy Mobile Surveys with AI Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ali D. | Consumer Insights Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I find Dscout's interface very easy to use, which makes analyzing data simple. The AI updates and tools are especially helpful in summarizing open-ended responses, enhancing my experience significantly. It's also very easy to set up, which I appreciate.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Sometimes finding the right consumers is hard

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout to find consumers easily and ask various questions. Its interface and AI tools make analyzing open-end responses straightforward.

 ### 12. Great for Rich & Quality Insights, but Pricey

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rose R. | UX Researcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I’ve really enjoyed using dscout. It’s great for capturing QUALITY feedback (which a lot of other similar platforms lack I feel), and the mix of photos, videos, and text makes the insights feel more real and engaging. The platform is easy to use and recruitment has been smooth.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The main drawback is the cost, it’s definitely on the higher side. Also, getting screeners approved can sometimes take a couple of days. While that’s understandable and adds an eye of another researcher, it’s not ideal when you need to move quickly on time-sensitive research.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout makes it easy to capture authentic qualitative feedback from participants. The ability to collect photos, videos, and text entries in real time especially through their diary studies is a huge plus, which helps uncover details participants might otherwise forget. This all leads to more actionable insights and a deeper understanding of user behaviors and motivations.

 ### 13. Much better than UserTesting!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenn K. | Design Research Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

In a new role, our main platform was UserTesting, and I really missed dscout. dscout has much greater capabilities for recruiting participants, such as how you create screeners. Furthermore, dscout's usability is much better than UserTesting, so it's a lot easier to navigate, figure out, and to use. I never found myself getting frustrated with dscout, whereas I get frustrated all of the time with UT.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Because I am no longer using dscout, I don't know what they could improve. I just know that it's a much better tool than UserTesting!

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout helps me recruit diverse participants, which helps me solve non-inclusive research. It's also helping me conduct user research, which solves the problem of finding my target demographic and understanding our users better. We are able to conduct research in a time sensitive manner because recruitment and scheduling is made easy, so that helps resolve the challenge of research slowing things down. In general, dscout makes my job possible, which benefits me and my team greatly: we are able to understand our users and improve our products.

 ### 14. Intuitive Platform with Exceptional Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love how quickly I can pull from the participant pool in Dscout and how fast I can move if needed. The platform is really intuitive and the support is exceptional, making me feel like part of a team rather than an annoying customer. As a researcher, I find it solves my classic research problems of usability and overcoming barriers effectively. The support from Dscout staff was impressive and made me feel valued as a user.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I would love Dscout to have a usability function that allows you to walk through each screen with the customer, so you can direct them unmoderated through each screen. Usertesting offers this. We embark on a lot of SUM (single usability metric) testing, so having an easy way to do that in Dscout would definitely save us from using other platforms, and would be way more efficient, as other platforms have bugs and are not intuitive.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout allows me to conduct research quickly and efficiently, overcoming usability barriers. It's intuitive, with outstanding support, making me feel valued. I can swiftly pull from the participant pool, and the teamwork aspect is excellent.

 ### 15. Exceptional Tool for Qualitative Research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren S.

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like working with the Dscout team and appreciate that they provide quality participants. I also love that Dscout is always improving and adding new features. They are attentive to feedback and have a team that helps find solutions and assists with using Dscout.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Billing has always been a pain point. There have been mistakes throughout our 6+ years of use. (Getting bills for other vendors, fees that shouldn't be there, duplicate charges, and not receiving invoices after asking many times). The process seems too manual and prone to lots of human error.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Dscout to get quality feedback about our products, features, and ideas.

 ### 16. A great platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alisha C. | Associate Market Researcher, Market Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Things still work well! There's nothing particular that stands out

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

More varied participants as we keep getting the same people for similar studies.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enabling us to conduct live market research interviews and do UX testing all in one place, with fantastic capabilities for screening and selecting participants.

 ### 17. Powerful, Collaborative Tool for Researchers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Remi I.

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the extensive tutorials and resources available, which simplified my onboarding with Dscout. I appreciate the AI features that enhance my research by easily selecting participants and synthesizing themes. I find the video editing and grouping capabilities incredibly helpful in managing interviews. The collaboration features are fantastic, allowing me to seamlessly share projects and invite stakeholders without participants noticing.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

{"I find the naming of items in the platform a bit non-intuitive, which initially made it difficult to get used to. This complexity in terminology made setting up studies more challenging than it needed to be.","I encountered discrepancies in the AI features, particularly when manually reviewing the results. The outcomes provided by the AI didn't always match what I would conclude manually, indicating a potential area for improvement in AI accuracy.","I feel that the onboarding process could benefit from additional guidance, such as informative prompts explaining different study types. This would particularly aid new users in understanding and navigating the platform more efficiently."}

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find Dscout streamlines research by enabling easy participant selection and interviews, enhances efficiency with AI features and transcripts, and supports collaboration, significantly easing my workload in managing and analyzing qualitative research.

 ### 18. Dscout enthusiast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Love how self-service dscout is. Customer support is probably the best I've experienced out of all our vendors.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

My org is global, and I want to be able to find scouts in other countries on my own in the panel. Would also like more sophisticated tagging options. We frequently import or dscout data into Dovetail for easier tagging/analysis.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

quick turn-around research and access to participants in a timely manner. When we can't travel or be in the field, dscout is a helpful alternative.

**Official Response from Kate Johnson:**

> We've partnered with Respondent to increase access to global participants. Check out that integration, if you haven't already!

 ### 19. Dscout is good, but data analytics and recruitment / study setup are a bit complex

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jake D. | Design Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The more I used Dscout the more I was frustrated with its data analysis platform and complexity of study setup and recruitment. The account management and customer support were pretty good though when I needed it.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Yes, when setting up a study it would be helpful if previous study panels could be brought in easily. It also seemed like once you recruited for a study it was very manual to review and place participants in the study. For lighter weight studies some automation or AI to review responses could be cool. I also would like an easier way to get the raw cumulative data of studies.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruiting and conducting interviews of our users used to be a timely challenge. Dscout improves the speed of research and helps me to analyze trends more effectively.

 ### 20. Scouts' Media Responses Simplify Screening and Build Empathy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Media responses and the ability to create highlight reels are a powerful empathy building tool. Video entries in screeners help you select high quality scouts with confidence.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Not dscout's fault, but my company's VPN does not allow associates to use the dscout browser extension making it impossible for us to preview missions. I wish there was an alternative, compliant way for us to preview missions.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting customer feedback quickly

 ### 21. One of the best platforms for User Resarch

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie B. | Senior Research Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

1. The user interface is easy to learn and understand
2. Its easy to add new users to projects
3. The Dscout team is quick to respond to any questions my team or users have
4. The Dscout team is constantly updating and improving the user experience of the platform
5. Recruiting a mix of qualified participants is easy
6. Setting up projects, or cloning previous projects is quick
7. I appreciate the improvements made to the video / open end questions (increased video time, no copy/paste option for open ends)

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I don't use Dscout too frequently, so I really only have minor issues with the platform.

1. One of the biggest issues we've had with the platform (that's pretty minor in the grand scheme) is that we've had some no-shows, but that happens with any project/platform.

2. Another issue was that we couldn't bold words in the question options. My team and I could bold words in the question text, but not in the actual question options. Maybe that's changed in the last 6 months, but that was a minor pain point for my team.

3. Also question logic felt too simple at times.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems Dscout is Solving: Finding a mix of good and qualified participants. Recruitment is painless, which saves the team hours of work.

Benefit: Makes the analysis and reporting phase more efficient, convenient, and easy.

 ### 22. Makes recruiting for and fielding most qual research very easy and quick!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew P. | Principal User Experience (UX) Researcher, Insurance, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I use Dscout for about 1-2 studies per month. I have used it for about 2 years. I started using it when my company stopped giving UX researchers licenses to its competitor UserTesting. Most often I do express missions (unmoderated concept testing and usability testing), but I have also done moderated interviews and diary studies via Dscout. Dscout, like its competitor UserTesting, makes recruiting very quick and easy, and it makes fielding very quick and easy, as well. Some product stakeholders want quick turnaround and I like being able to tell them I can use Dscout and turn around a concept test, for example, in 1-2 weeks (a few days to recruit + a few days to field).

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

1. It can be hard to recruit difficult to reach populations (ex. people over the age of 65, people of color, lower income persons, and especially people at the intersection of these groups). In many instances I've had to go out to third-party vendors like Leede or Fieldwork to recruit populations like pregnant woman on Medicaid, and then feed them a link to an unmoderated study I programmed into Dscout.
2. I also wish Dscout offered A/B testing / preference testing like Qualtrics and MUIQ do, as I would also use Dscout for large-sample surveys and A/B testing if I had the option to randomize participants into treatment conditions.
3. When I launch unmoderated studies I don't have the ability to uninvite scouts that I've already invited. In my experience using Dscout if a scout doesn't complete the mission in 24-36 hours of being invited they are unlikely to do so, and I wish I had the option to manually uninvite them. Furthermore, UserTesting gives me the ability to invite particular scouts, which I might do if I had a scout in a previous study that could be a good fit for this study. I wish Dscout gave me that option.
4. Lastly, Dscout takes a long time to invoice, which can make it difficult for my company to manage expenses in a timely fashion.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout helps me, as a UX researcher, talk to consumers who are clients / customers of my company or of competitor companies. It helps me present them with current state or ideal state digital products and obtain feedback.

 ### 23. Easy to use & great customer service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout continues to improve their product and make running research studies easy! Dscout is very user-friendly and easy to integrate into any diary or in-depth interview (IDI) study. Their panel feature is particularly helpful for speeding up the recruitment process for user studies. Additionally, their team is highly responsive, friendly, and eager to assist in resolving any issues.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Participants recruited via outside sources will sometimes drop off due to needing to download the dscout app. It would be great if there were a workaround for this issue.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is speeding up our recruitment turnaround time, which helps us produce feedback and insights for our clients much quicker.

 ### 24. dScout is one of the better UXR platforms

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Our account rep is responsive,
The tool has good features
AI updates

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Mission setup can be convoluted. Testers are sometimes "professional" testers. Their professional services, if you use it, may be underwhelming compared to other vendors.
Dscout representative needs to vet each screener and each mission which can delay things
Dscout advisors seems to change EVERY quarter which makes it always hard to know who to reach out to

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gain insights into sentiments on healthcare and healthcare experiences

 ### 25. Powerful all-in-one research tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Very intuitive to use Dscout as someone who's new to the platform. Onboarding was smooth and I felt well-supported at any point of time, especially because I know that I can always reach out to the research advisor/account manager.
I appreciate the many functionalities to conduct rigorous qualitative research from in-depth interviews to usability testing. The participant pool is highly vetted and provides feedback of high value.
As a researcher embedded in a cross-functional team - Dscout enables offers a way to engage note-takers and observers without being seen by the participant, which prevents distractions.
It's also easy to keep track of the remaining budget for upcoming studies.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The only room for improvement lies in the smaller sized participant pool. It sometimes takes slightly more time to reach qualifying participants. However, it is not a major issue, as the screener survey can always be adjusted in that case.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an ideal research hub to conduct end-to-end research/testing - from recruiting participants, to scheduling and confirming sessions, to facilitating sessions, to analyzing data to extract insights (through tagging), and incentivizing participants.
Since the recruitment and incentivization are automated, I have more time to focus on actually conducting the research.

 ### 26. Robust, user-friendly research platform with high quality respondents

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The dscout platform is crisp and easy to use. The functionalities are good and always expanding, and dscout does a nice job of keeping users up to date on what fixes and additions are coming down the pipeline. Their research advisors are quite helpful in providing valuable suggestions for study set up. I've found the respondent quality to be far superior to that of other unmoderated research platforms. Further, customer support is quick to help with technical issues when they occur.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Researchers need to plan a couple extra days for some study types to be reviewed by a research advisor before launch - which I find helpful, but necessary to keep in mind in the planning process. The complexity of question types / logic / etc. is not always available (for example, within surveys, piping is limited and there are no matrix style questions) so you sometimes need to be creative or find workarounds.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout enables us to get in-depth insights into consumer behavior as well as feedback on our products (new and existing).

 ### 27. Dscout has been great!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout has been a game-changer for my team. Diary studies were a significant gap in our research methods, but with Dscout, we can now run them much more frequently. One standout feature is the ability to seamlessly transition diary study participants into live missions within the same project, greatly streamlining the process of collecting necessary data. Since adopting the platform, we’ve benefited from frequent updates and new features that have significantly enhanced efficiency and ease of use. The Dscout team is fantastic—highly receptive to feedback—and they don’t just listen; they act on it. Unlike some tools where feedback seems to disappear into a void, Dscout ensures concerns are not only heard but addressed directly in the platform.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I don’t have many dislikes about Dscout, but I’d love to see future updates focus more on app/mobile features. As my team shifts its focus in that direction, we’re looking for enhanced capabilities in this area.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is solving a gap in Diary studies methods for my team. This was an area that our researchers were very interested in but we didn't have the tool to do it until we found Dscout.

 ### 28. Dscout made running a diary study seamless, from participant selection to data collection.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amir Reza K. | Senior UX Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I recently used dscout for conducting a diary study for the first time, and my experience was excellent. The platform is incredibly intuitive, making it easy to learn and use. Its powerful recruiting capabilities stand out compared to other research tools, allowing precise targeting of the right participants. Additionally, their customer support is outstanding—responsive and helpful throughout the process.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The only improvement I’d suggest is making it easier to track how much has already been paid to participants, especially in scenarios where payments are made in different stages.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout has been incredibly helpful for me as a UX researcher, allowing me to collect data from participants in a seamless and efficient way.

 ### 29. Dscout is effective for diary studies and and other methodologies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The various tools for research, diary studies, live missions, screeners, readily available panel of users. I have liked a lot of the improvements and new feature releases on the platform. Heat maps are great!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Getting down to more niche scout participants without having to go to a specialty recruit.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great for unmoderated feedback with rich artifacts that a researcher can view at any time once ready. This helps to free up bandwidth, still collecting rich qualitative feedback without necessarily having to moderate a session live (which can be more time consuming for a researcher). AI capabilities would be great if our company would allow them.

 ### 30. The Most Direct Route to Fast Feedback!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Two of the most helpful features are the "built-in" user base and the handling of incentives. These two features are the most time-consuming logistics of any feedback-gathering effort, and Dscout makes it easy and seamless. Honestly, it is stupid-easy to set up a study and launch it!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

A downside to Dscout is that the Scouts are obviously a specific audience: tech savvy, skew younger. But, that can be balanced with external recruits. I have also had several repeat Scouts across my studies, however, this can also be managed.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout solved one of it's early issues regarding the logistics of inviting external users. Dscout has also recently been building up its research synthesis capabilities- this was something our teams were mostly exporting to other tools. Dscout has been improving those features which saves time and allows team member to participate within Dscout

 ### 31. Meet the Swiss Army Knife of Qual Research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kidest F. | Research Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Recruitment and data collection are the two hardest parts of the research process. I really enjoy having a platform that does both, and makes it so simple. I've also enjoyed having personalized support from survey designers on the Dscout team who will review my survey and give feedback before launch. It makes me feel very supported and I always appreciate having an extra set of eyes on my work as it is easy to forget things or make a mistake. Outside of the product itself, and more so on the branding side of things, Dscout has lots of visibility in my network as a trusted tool--I see Dscout hosting learning events and conversations, and as a partner at UX conferences--which makes me feel good about using the product.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Two things: Dscout is costly--especially for small teams and non profits! Secondly, Dscout is not yet optimized for quantitative research. I would kill for a platform that can execute mixed methods; it would make the return on investment better.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is helping us reach our users who occupy often very niche segments in the food space. The various types of missions we can launch allow us to execute intricate research based on our budget and time constraints--many of our studies have to be done quickly but with a certain level rigor (ugh---I hate that word!).

 ### 32. The researching platform that allows for the most customization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karlee B. | Senior UX Researcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

After extensive issues with UserTesting's pool and a very poor experience with their customer service, dscout gave us the best flexibility and management over the participants we chose for taking part in research. The initial surveying of participants allows for picking individuals that perfectly suit our needs rather than wasting time within a research project to confirm if the participant was honest in their screener. Additionally, dscout opened the door for different resarch projects, such as surveys and diary studies. Support in dscout is exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

With the superior experience does come some tedium. Research timelines need to include an approval period for screeners and studies as the dscout team will not allow you to publish a screener or study without reviewing it (except for express studies, aka surveys and unmoderated studies after you launch your first test). Additionally, the clip creation process is clunky. There are multiple steps that feel extraneous, such as having to "render" the video every time you add new clips. This function feels outdated, but the positives outweight these complications.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a B2B company, finding participants that suit our needs was a challenge. dscout provided the solution that we needed.

 ### 33. I always get such rich feedback from my dscout studies! Highly recommend

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily O. | User Experience Research Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Platform makes it easy and quick to program and launch screeners/studies, large panel of engaged participants that provide detailed rich, feedback. I typically use dscout for longitudinal diary studies but have recently used for Express missions (kinda like a quali-quant surveys) and Live interviews and have had great experiences. The scouts' selfie videos where they describe experiences and provide feedback are excellent for including in read-outs and debriefs to bring the customer to life for my stakeholders. All of the account leads, research managers, etc. I've worked with at dscout have been great - they are always responsive, helpful, and kind!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Pretty expensive, and most of my analysis happens outside the platform (as opposed to using analysis tools they offer in the platform) so I wonder if they could build and provide more tools for that. I honestly don't have a lot of bad things to say. Love working with dscout!

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running user research start to finish - recruiting for the research and administering/conducting the research. Reviewing feedback and synthesizing results.

 ### 34. Fast and precise insights!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I'm really happy with dscout!
Their pool is very big and stratified
The UX / UI of their site is overall very weel built
There are many different question types you can use in all research categories (diary, express, etc.)
I also find their customer support very efficient and friendly

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

With the beta bank of questions, they are addressing one of my biggest pain points so far.

However, I believe it’s crucial to implement a more robust randomization system. While the current folder system is helpful, it doesn’t fully solve the issue of presenting sections in a randomized order. Ideally, they should introduce a feature that randomizes both the order of the folders and the content within them for a more effective and dynamic experience.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to a wide variety of research methodologies on a well-designed platform, with fast participant selection and competent customer support

 ### 35. Quick results, easy platform to navigate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Easy to navigate and assess results, especially closed ended questions. Also, quick time to get results especially for express missions. Additionally, the new AI feature is really great and saves a ton of time with analysis!

Also, the customer support is very responsive and prompt with feedback which makes the review process more seamless.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Sometimes it is hard to access specific audiences, like work boot consumers. The AI summary feature is great, but it would be even better if it refreshed the summary based on filters set for results, for example all Males vs all Females.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to get video and photo entries from scouts and easily analyze results (moreso for close ended questions) and the range of types of questions we can ask in the platform is great.

 ### 36. Solid Research Platform with Quality Participants

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pert E. | Group Program Manager, Research Operations, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

We use dScout for our continuous evaluative programs - we can set up a study, launch it, and have great quality responses overnight. It's empowering our team to move faster and do more.
The support team at sDcout is fantastic - they always have great suggestions.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I'm looking forward to the ability to create templates - that will make it even easier and more efficient to do these quick-turn-around evaluative projects.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a platform that provides solid options for different methods while offering excellent in-app recruiting. dScout makes it very easy for our research teams to create and field a study with their panel of participants. The ease of finding participants who know how to use the platform has saved us time when speed to insights matters most.

 ### 37. All in one ux research tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meghan W. | Writer and Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I appreciate the dscout encompasses a wide range of functionality - I can recruit users, run research, analyze the data, and share my findings all in one place. They have a great diary study tool, and I love their newsletters and articles.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

So far I haven't had any issues or limitations with dscout

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout helps me and my team run ux research with our users - it helps me recruit, field, analyze, and share my research.

 ### 38. The gift that keeps on giving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The most amazing thing about dscout is its panel. No other panel out there has the quality of respondents that they do. In addition, I'm SO impressed with the new express usability missions - super easy to get things out in field and capture great depth of insight, Lastlty, I like how they practice what they preach and listen to the people who use the platform to inform improvements! And don't even get me started with the AI capabilities and all that's to come there.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The video editing tool is better in UserZoom. Other than that, with its continuous iimprovements, dscout is amazinggg!

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to participants, ease in rich quality qualitative unmoderated studies.

 ### 39. Great for general user feedback, hard to find participants in specific professions

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Love DScout missions and the ability to survey a sizable group of customers (for ex 50) for qualitative insights. Also love that you can ask customers to submit a video in screeners, that has helped me to better select participants who are knowledgable for longer interviews and not waste time scheduling with those who might not be a good fit.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I have had instances where participants are not who they say they are, for example their location says US but they're in a different country, their demographic answers don't match their video presentation and also finding specific types of professionals

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy and quick access to users for user testing and qualitative feedback

 ### 40. Dscout Platform review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Milagros P. | Founder/Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Really like the visual on the platform and the ease of creating a collage with photos. The upload process is also easy.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Not much maybe have the dashboard be a little more descriptive and more options on the contents.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the platform alongside clients. The last one used as a pretask to get to know participants and also the products they were using and style.

 ### 41. One-stop shop qual tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gab C. | ux researcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I am thrilled to see how much dscout has expanded to. This is not just a tool for diary studies anymore, it truly is a one-stop shop for qual research.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I do expect a bit more templates to follow for different scenarios. That's what I used to find super helpful from userzoom. They used to have templates for very specific scenarios (comparative vs evaluative, etc) and would be a bit more efficient to work off of for me, as the uxr.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an agency, our clients want to hear consumer feedback. Beyond the day to day findings, the consumer feedback that we can share with clients has made findings more impactful.

 ### 42. The recruit form seems to be improved but filtering recruitment responses are still convoluted

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Human support is incredible and timely.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Please, make the tagging and segmenting users easier and add missing features for analysis by user segments

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- the recruiting panel of dscouts solves a good problem of mine for quick qual research
- recording mobile screens while TOL (think out loud) solves a good data capture problem
- quick diary tool, not a lot out there I think?

 ### 43. A robust and largely easy-to-use research platform with some annoying limitations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

My favorite thing about dscout compared with other research platforms I've used is its robust capabilities for participant recruitment. You can create screeners that have logic, quotas, etc., as well as open-ended written and video questions. Furthermore, you can manually select from eligible participants rather than having to accept all eligible participants on a first-come, first-served basis, which, while time-consuming, helps to ensure you get a diverse pool of high-quality participants. It's also easy to communicate with participants, including to recontact them for future research.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

dscout requires you to have screeners vetted by a dscout staff member before they can be launched, which significantly slows down the process of recruiting for and fielding research.
I've also encountered other limitations that get in the way of crafting research studies exactly as I would like to. For instance, dscout limits how many times you can use certain types of questions in a screener or mission. Also, researchers cannot screen-share or message participants during a mission conducted on mobile.
I also don't love that dscout has so many tiers of acccess to the platform, with somewhat arbitrary permissions for each (e.g., your tier might allow you to create a "mission" but not a screener). This complex permissioning makes it difficult for researchers to do their jobs properly if their employer isn't willing to shell out for the highest permissions for every employee.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout supports me in fielding user research by connecting me with a large panel of potential participants and providing me with robust tools to screen for participants and conduct research of various types.

 ### 44. High quality, fast turnaround UXR which can help you overcome AI responses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

A generally high quality responses, and quick turn around research tool!
I most appreciate that you can have participants upload screenshots and vidoes of them talking, which helps get around the AI generated content issue in UXR. It also has smart analysis tools (e.g. automatic transcription of video) that are actually pretty decent!
I have largely moved away from UserTesting.com and have replaced it with DScout.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

DScout is focused on US based research. There's no really way of targeting to countries outside the US without using screener questions, and even then you're really just trusting people. There's also no way to auto translate missions into other languages.

While they've made some improvements here in the last year, it's still hard to target an even spread of respondents per study. Often requiring somewhat complex screeners and targeting to make sure that your responses don't just come from those who happen to be first online (often younger and more tech savvy folks).

The interface can take a little getting used to, especially in an organisation, it requires you to choose names for everything, and .

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting rapid turn around UXR from participants in their own words - helps us benchmark competitive tools

 ### 45. Dscout Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The interface feels really easy to understand, and pleasing to look at. There is a lot of (slightly scattered) documentation and resources to help me do my work, and even then I could get live person support if I needed it. I really like the range of research methods it supports as well.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

From my memory from my last live 1:1 interviews, the video clipping process was really difficult. The videos were saved in poor quality too, so I felt disappointed in showing them to my stakeholders. I also had to add in my own subtitles on Clip Champ. I'm a decently advanced video editor, so maybe my standards are high, but it feels really difficult to find the clips I want, and stitch them into a story together.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The two other major tools I use for my work are UserTesting and Qualtrics. Dscout is the 3rd major tool in my arsenal because it provides a may more diverse set of methods (diary study, express mission, etc.). Managing a multi-method study also feels easiest in dscout, which is why I prefer to use it.

 ### 46. Generally Positive Experience With Dscout

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout makes it pretty easy to build out diary studies and use an external recruitment panel. Instructions are located in areas that I would need help reducing the need to look for the knowledge base, and it has good error handling built in. It lets me know when there are mistakes or missing pieces and checks if im okay to move forward without filling certain information in. I have worked with customer support and they were very speedy to answer my question and thorough in understanding what I was asking. The interface is simple and clean and easy to approach. The knowledge base/support articles are also pretty helpful - clearly written and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

One of the things I dislike is that theres a lot of tabs and it can be difficult to find everything that I need to set. It was difficult for me to find out how to replicate or duplicate a diary study - I didnt realize you had to wait for the study to be closed before I could duplicate it. Or if I had set the description of a study and needed to change it, it was hard to remember how to get back to change that.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps greatly with diary study. Without I would not be able to run a diary study at scale. The ability to capture video and image feedback from participants is super helpful.

 ### 47. Dscout - the best user insights platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon R. | Senior User Experience Researcher, Innovation & Product Design, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

From the ease of use, to the speed of insights, Dscout does it all. I've been a user of Dscout for 7 years now and it's been a reliable source for understand consumer needs and validating new early stage concepts.

They have a world class team who act more like thought partners vs. consultants.

I would highly recommend Dscout to anyone looking to uplevel their insigths game.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There truly are no downsides to the Dscot tool.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout solves three key problems

1. Speed of insights
- It's one of the fastest tools out there for gaining consumer insights.

2. Reliability of insights
- I've used a lot of different research tools out there, and by far, Dscout is the tool that is most reliable when it comes to true consumer insights. Many platforms have participants in their user pool that either lie or aren't giving truthful insights.

3. Analysis Tools
- The video creator, quantaitive charts, and the housing of insights are all extremely accessible on the dscout platfrom.

 ### 48. Understand real customer experiences without the cost/time associated with traditional ethnographies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian S. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

dscout has a pool of panels ready to participate. they also allow us to bring in our outside participants as needed. their platform is easy to use and if you have questions their support teams are always quick to help (even able to program and manage a project for you!).

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I do wish we could do more than one video response per mission part, but on the plus side we can always make more mission parts to ensure we capture what we need. I also wish there was a way to keep the video response question on-screen for participants to see while recording themselves (to keep them on track).

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the best research is ethnographic research - where you can experience what your participants experience. dscout allow us to be "in the moment" with participants without the intrusiveness (and cost/time) of in-person ethnographies.

 ### 49. Market Research Game Changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa W. | Consumer & Market Research Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The dscout platform has been a game changer for our Market Research team! It has allowed us to design and conduct robust qualatative research and analysis using multiple methodologies within the platform (diary study, live mission, usability testing). The ease of video editing, tagging, and data collection is fantastic. We use the dscout platform frequently for customer interview sessions. The folks at dscout are super helpful and the implementation of the tool into our market research processes was great.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

My team and I would love to see a specific feature within the Live Missions for conducting on-site interviews. We have figured out a workaround, but it would be great to be able to just have a "mode" where we could more easily set up these sessions.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout has been a great tool to collect and analyze qualatative research. The ease of creating video clips, tags, and editing video sequences has saved my team and me a tremendous amount of time when putting together research summary presentations for our internal and executive teams. We are excited about the new AI analysis tool helping to speed up the analysis process even more.

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I really like how easy it is to navigate dscout. I get asked all the time during diary studies to pull certain quotes. With dscout, this task is super easy. All I have to do is navigate to the question I'm interesting in under the activity that I've set up and then I can search through all the responses to that question with a quick command search and find the quotes I need. I also love being able to see the individual diary entries and then toggle to see all diary entries for a specific question. Having both these views allows me to compare the experiences of individual participant to the whole. This allows me to quickly use dscount to help me find pain points and then size those pain points in a larger group view. Oh and lastly, I'm very happy they offer a word cloud. This again simplifies my process of reading through hundreds of entries. Instead I can look at the word cloud as a starter and jump into the responses from there. Customer support has also been great. I feel well supported and have had no issues getting help when and where I need it. I love to just hop into dscount every day for a few minutes to scan the new enties. It just works really well with the way my team and I function. It was also pretty easy to launch the study. I appreciated that we got some feedback and how to structure the screener and I've been really happy with the participants we've gotten so far. Dscout fits really well into the suite of products that we use as a research team.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

One thing that could make my life easier is if I were able to set some "smart tags" in dscout, like "hey, if they phrase is mentioned, alert me". The diary study that I'm running right now is so large that even with all the tools, it can be difficult to find some specific quotes. I also wish I could filter open ends with more options like filtering by demographic and being able to see two different demographics side by side. That said, I've really enjoyed using dscout so far and I'm excited to do more projects on the dscout platform.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is letting my research team see what the day-today experiences are with our streaming platform product. It is helping us capture pain points in the navigation experience as well as capture the overall sentiment of our product. Dscout has made it really easy to track 40+ different participants at one time and be able to quickly pull quotes on the topics that our product team is most interested in. It has saved us a lot of time and has allowed us to talk to more people at once. Recruitment was also very easy which was nice because we had so many different criteria we were trying to meet and the participant quality has been stellar so far (which I cannot say about other competitors of dscout!).
