## Dscout Reviews
  ### 1. New to dscout, but I'm finding value in the platform.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric R. | Sr. Consumer Insights Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I'm new to dscout, but I've been in the tool daily since starting my new role. The range of features in dscout has been impressive. The ability to launch a variety of studies each with different methods has been awesome for me and my team. Not to mention there was a very samll learning curve for me; it's quite easy to use. I'm also very appreciative of the tagging features within the tool. Though they are not as robust as other qualitative analysis tools, its nice to have recruitment, raw data (including transcripts, responses, video, and pictures), and analysis all in one tool. I hope this is an area that dscout continues to develop! Their support team is great, so this is something that I will mention in a future meeting!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Its hard to put it into words, but I want 'more'. For example, I want the tagging functionality to be more advanced. I'd love to have unlimited tagging capabilities, and tags that exsit across projects. Additionally, more advanced color coding of tags, and nesting of tags would be ideal for true qualitative analysis. Have more robust features can be a challenge, but I think this would help elevate dscout to the next level.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recruitment, raw data storage, analysis.

  ### 2. Great platform that is rapidly improving

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

It's easy to recruit a variety of people, it's easy to analyze all the data, and it pays participants well.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I've mostly used dscout as a participant. I've recommended it to many family and friends, but no one's really gotten into it. For friends, they apply to a number of studies but never get accepted so they get discouraged and quit. For my parents who are in their 70's, there's no way they'll ever sign up for studies via the mobile app. They want to participate but it would have to be through a desktop web browser.
As a researcher, the process to preview my questions/studies is really annoying. I have to do audio/video tests every time.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's making it much easier to analyze qualitative video/audio data. I can compare and seperate data incredibly easily.

  ### 3. Probably the best testing platform out there right now

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Over a year ago my team was looking to switch fro UserTesting to another testing platform for UX research. We tried out a lot of them, and dscout was just starting up their usability testing. We waited another year, and it was worth it. Very happy with the platform so far. It's very intuitive and has many options for advanced settings if needed.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Sometimes things go wrong, but support and our research rep are extremely responsive in fixing issues. There's a few little things that I would really like to see that align with our use cases, but the dscout team is very receptive of feedback and seem to be working on some of those suggestions already.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to recruit more specific personas for our business' niche client base in order to properly test our designs quickly.

  ### 4. A great platform to recruit people quickly and easy!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

It is a great alternative when you are looking for qualified individuals who are available at some point rather than going with a recruiter who may take longer and it could cost you more time and money. Also, being able to schedule the sessions within the platform and using it toconduct the interviews makes everything easier!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Sometimes some people don't reply soon when you add them to a live mission. You're waiting and it's not ideal to add more time slots and invite more people because you may end up with more participants than expected.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is fast and convenient when trying to look for a specific audience. Plus it is easier to validate if potential participants are real and provide the necessary information you are looking for e.g. have purchased an EV in the last 12 months

  ### 5. A very powerful tool that could use some UX improvements

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like the screening tools available and being able to decide which participants I enter into the study.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

It's not intuivitie to use. There are multiple steps needed to add a participant to a research study (it's really bad).

The participant messaging tool is limited and doesn't allow for me to send screenshots.

I don't like that I can't send a link to a completed research session. I have to add the stakeholder to the entire project for them to watch old sessions.

I also don't like all of the specific Dscout language, like calling participants "scouts" and research projects "missions". Just use the standard industry terms that we use in research.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's hard to recruit participants and Dscout does this for me.

  ### 6. Best user research platform by far

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

For qualitative research it can't be beaten - it's a super solid platform with great features and it's really easy to use. I also love how easy it is to create video playlists and to share them with out sdtakeholders. The UK support team are lovely and super collaborative too (we love Graham and Tymarrah!)

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The quantitative analysis tools are a bit more basic than some dedicated survey tools like SurveyMonkey. It would be nice to have more detailed ways to slice and dice data if this was to be a true all-round replacement for other tools in our research stack. Also the tool feels very US-centric at the moment and, as a UK based client, we feel like we hit more frictions than similar teams using Dscout in the US. What our American counterparts see as 'specialist use cases' are more like everyday realities to us!

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great for gathering detailed customer insight and also for bringing our stakeholders along on the journey. Allowing them to witmess frictions and opportunities straight from the users' mouths is really powerful.

  ### 7. Dscout is a great tool to reach young people

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ece E. | User Researcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I really like how the team behind Dscout is very supportive from start to finish of conducting a UXR. Also, some of the tools such as tagging trancripts and timestamp is really helpful to find important quotes later on.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Some usability elements, like using asterisks to bold text, can feel tedious. I also strongly recommend that their team conducts usability testing to assess whether navigation for new features is intuitive for users.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gaining insights into how users interact with your product in real-world scenarios.

Testing new ideas and features with real users to assess their viability and appeal before full development.

Gathering qualitative data to inform UX decisions and make user-centered improvements.

  ### 8. Feature-rich platform goes beyond diary studies

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett L. | Senior Manager, UX Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout has created an ecosystem of tools - moderated and unmoderated - around its high-quality participant panel. While I still like its diary study tool most, I've had positive experiences with live sessions and its nascent unmoderated usability "express missions". I love the ability to screen with video responses, and hand-select respondents for studies.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Some challenges we've encountered include:
- the walled garden of participation (all live sessions must take place inside dscout's tool—not zoom—and be registered users, which is challenging when bringing your own participants)
- workflow inefficiencies like reminding participants to engage in diary studies and manually requesting that dscout send incentives
- the separation of incentives from participation credits
- the requirement that dscout staff review studies before launch and be involved in other ops
- limited researcher and stakeholder seats, which makes scaling research expensive

While many of these issues are minor, perhaps the greatest challenge with dscout is its high cost relative to other similar platforms.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout's diary study served as a single platform for our dogfooding program. Its diary platform also enables us to run research that is prohibitively complex without the tool.

  ### 9. Powerful tool for interview, diary, and usability studies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bo W. | Lead User Experience Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout excels in getting started with a variety of research projects at ease. The participants pool is very large and fills up super quickly. For the template, it can be very useful to get a first draft. Most templates in the screener feel natural. The "knock-out" logic in multiple-choice can be a bit unique and requires some learning. I use dScout for interview research quite often, and really like the separate recording feature to capture screen and the participants' cam, and saving videos with selected view. Creating video clips is super easy with a simple search on the transcript, which is useful for early share with stakeholders. And, the research advisor is always quick to answer my questions and complete reviews. The programming is easy to understand, so I can bring along non-researchers to observe the sessions, making dScout an integrated part of workflow.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

What puzzles me sometimes is the video quality dropping as we pass the 30min mark. It appears quite blurry. And in rare cases, the generation of video clips either takes too long or simply fails. I like when dScout chat support was quick and done by a real person, a feature that is no longer available.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DScout helps to answer user needs in discovery phases for product development via interveiw or diary studies. It also gives pretty quick feedback on usability testing, which helps to improve current experience.

  ### 10. Overall a great tool with advancing research capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** erica p. | Manager UX Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout helps to merge multiple methodologies to provide insightful feedback for both digital and physical product needs. The participant pool has been top notch and the tool inreases efficiency by providing tools and options to conduct rapid research. The review of studies through customer support has been completed in a timely manner allowing for quick feedback.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Thus far the only "negative" feedback I have is the opportunity for stronger team training as you're getting used to the tool. There are a few intricacies that I learned as I started using. More formal training (besides videos available) would be helpful.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gathering customer insights about conceptual designs and UX improvements. Helping to recruit and supply the voice of the customer.

  ### 11. The best all-in-one research tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The pool of research participants is great, the tagging system is flexible and super helpful, and they now also have the option to run usability tests (in addition to the live interviews, surveys, and diary studies). Videos are automatically transcribed. They now have AI analysis available in both unmoderated and moderated studies (though I haven't used it yet, because it's not available for all accounts). They also will handle incentives (as long as you have a credit card or balance on file). And the support staff are all friendly, helpful, and respond quickly.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Although they have the option to create video clips, it could be easier. You can create them by either selecting text, or setting start and end times of the clip--however, if you do it with text, it cuts off the clip at full seconds, so some words at the beginning and end get cut off. You also can't make video clips from tags, even though you can create both by selecting transcript text. Although they have AI analysis, it can't be applied to research completed before AI is/was enabled for your organization.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout helps us learn more about potential customers, and how to design our products to work better for them.

  ### 12. I Love* dscout!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the quality control for study participants that other platforms I used more frequently didn't afford me. High quality participants means high quality findings and insights-- I had the chance to make sure they truly aligned with recruitment criteria. This platform did cause me to switch and almost never look back to the previous platform I frequently used, but its still a bit far from perfect.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

It was quite a bit of a learning curve trying to understand their site's information architecture-- some things feel a bit clunky. For example, you have to invite someone to a mission from the screener section, but they're really not invited until you go into the mission's section and send the invitation (an order of actions that wouldn't seem intuitive when new to the system) They lack some features and functionality that feel critical to my workflow-- like having screeners for express missions.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Participant quality control

  ### 13. Good but could be better

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the ability to hand select scouts from a pool. That way i can choose the best quality scouts not just those that meet the bare minimum recruiting criteria. I use dscout for just about every project because of this. Only time I go outside of Dscout is for Surveys or the occassional unmoderated usability test.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Mission reviews take too long for my organizations timelines. Which they had a 1-day turn around, or were able to be skipped for professional researchers. Also I wish I was able to see a scouts receruiting profile from the recording page in case I want to reference something. Also i run into a lot of bugs when searching for moments in live missions (i.e., when I hit "See moment" it just takes me to the beggining of the recording)

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Largely this is helping ensure quality participants and getting rich video feedback without a moderated session

  ### 14. Invaluable real-time insights into human challenges, needs & wants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Audrey W. | Product Strategy / Next Generation Navigation, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

It's hard to imagine my worklife before dScout as dScout provides real-time information and insights from humans quickly, easily and cost-efficiently. This tool is game-changing! I use dScout for quick surveys, week-in-the-life diary missions, empathetic interviewing, prototype & test review and more. Check-out dScout today and you'll never launch a undesirable new product again.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

dScout used to provide practice sessions for new business users and, with growth, ceased offering that kind of support. If I were dScout, I would bring that yet to get new users off to a seamless start.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dScout is helping us to learn about and begin to solve healthcare's biggest challenges.

  ### 15. Fast recruiting made easy for teams of all sizes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linsey F. | Senior User Experience Researcher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout's quality participant panel sets it apart from competitors. The video question feature excels at helping identify thoughtful participants for research. Alternatively it is now just as easy to bring my own participants to a study.

I can do nearly any type of research ranging from interviews to unmoderated diary studies. Dscout's interface is easy to use and power enought to give me the flexibility I in study design.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Dscout is constantly releasing new features, and they recently released card sorting. Unfortunatley, it only allows for closed card sorting. I hope this is something they add in the future along with tree testing.

Dscou'ts playlist builder is buggy.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work at a consultantcy and interact with a wide variety of clients in a variety of industries. Projects often have EXTREMELY short turn arounds and it is great to incorporate user research with a low budget and fast turn around.

  ### 16. The best experience with discount

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Molly Eucarista N. | Operator, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The best research company that pays very well.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There are no dislikes about the site; the operation is very good.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are good because most of the research there required video or one-on-one interviews. Their problem, which they need to solve, is about the demographic issue. There are not many tasks, especially in African countries, where the selection is very limited.

  ### 17. Like an additional member to the team, but there is still room for improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

- The diary mission, component of the tool is really useful for the product space that we work in, where accessing users in their day-to-day is important.

- The review feature, has proved extremely beneficial for me as a UXR team of one. dscout studies can go through a review process with one of their research advisors, which means I don't need to review every piece of research the PWDRs on my team do - freeing up a lot of valuable time.

- The dscout team, are really responsive, supportive and efficient, with any request or query me or the team have, which helps keep things moving.

- The Recruit feature is popular amongst the team as it allows us to pre-screen users for studies in advance. This is especially useful if we have a niche group that we need to target and we need lead time to recruit them.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

- Some of the usability aspects of the platform could do with some improvement. For example, being able to randomise the order of questions, to prevent order bias, offering more question types in the screener, improved question functionality and better regionalisation for markets outside of the US, e.g. the UK.

- The platform's intuitiveness could also be improved. There are a lot of hidden gems and useful features that are not necessarily obvious to a new user. Therefore the onboarding and learning process can take a little longer.

- The platform is fully optimised for all device types e.g. tablet and there could be some improvements with the recently released unmoderated mobile usability testing.

-The participant pool is not the largest, especially for the UK market. So recruitment can take longer than other platforms and sometimes you see the same people coming through quite frequently.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- The diary study feature allows us to reach users at any time of day, which is crucial for the product we work, as it's so intrinsic to people's day-to-day activities. We were struggling with this before, with the more traditional UXR methodologies.

- dscout has helped reduce my workload as there is someone additional to review things.

- The Recruit feature allows us to pre-screen users early enough in the research process which means we can have a pool of participants ready before we commence the research

  ### 18. Great customer service, always. Y'all just make research easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miranda V. | Consumer Insight Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The support staff has always been the most helpful of any vendors we work with. From Tim, to Spurthi, to Dendra, to Lindsay - literally everyone I have ever been in contact with since the beginning of my career 5+ years ago -- they're always willing to help us last-minute (since we're usually working under tight timelines, and they're so kind in working with us against those!). The platform specifcally is easy to use and the analysis side of it has become immensly better over the past couple of years!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There aren't really any dislikes or downsides that I can think of. The only possible annoyance is the payment factor. I wish there was an easier way to invoice with our company instead of using credit cards, but that might be an *us* thing + not a dscout thing! Really, not any dislikes with the platform or dscout in general.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really varies, as we have a whole portfolio of brands that utilize the tool. I think the most benefit we receive from dscout is the ability to reach such a wide audience (both domestic + international) with such ease. The time it takes from the start of a research idea with a brand, to launching it in dscout, to having the results, feels like the snap of the fingers. And the amount of information we can receive from scouts in a single mission is what keeps bringing us back. There's really nothing like it!

  ### 19. Great partnership and quality

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I really like how the team listens to our feedback and incorporats change. I like that their team can be somewhat of a thought collaborater when planning, helping me imporve my studies before launching. Their participants are high quality, screening and inclusion controls are top notch, and their testing types are flexible, robust, and enable deeper research insights. unique features like the ones mentioned above, with their new innovations like AI analysis, makes them a great holistic platform to use.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

As a researcher, I don't have visibility into how much I'm allowed to use the platform, which makes me avoid using it if I can. I know with our other tools, we have unlimited tests, so I don't think twice about using them. I would prefer to use DScout whrever I can because they have more complete and reliable features, but because I don't know what our budget looks like, or how many credits I'm allocated, I avoid using it so I can save it for when I might need it more.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me hit larger samples sizes, and pair qualitative and quantite data in the same study, rather than needing to run 2 studies and match them up later.

  ### 20. Dramatically changed our recruiting!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiffany A. | UX Design Career Mentor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

By far the best part of dscout are the scouts. They're responsive, quality, reliable. I've never had a no-show or participant I felt was not qualified/slipped through screeners. Our research team has increased our number of session observers and does more moderated testing now!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

dscout still has some catching up to do in terms of the platform itself compared to other usability testing platforms. Our team has found a few limitations that can be discouraging or force us to move to another platform. However, we discuss these with our accout rep and hope to see more functionalities added soon! For example, the inability to edit a mission once launched or the inability to duplicate a mission in a way that allows the data to stay together versus being split up.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout has solved our recruitment issues for moderated testing and has saved us significant amounts of time! We really love asking scouts to submit a short selfie video to help us determine if they're a good fit for the study.

  ### 21. Dscout has enhanced our ability to connect with our diverse customers across multiple countries

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout has enabled us to work 'remote-first', now central to our operations. This allows us to manage larger and more diverse projects while producing the most insightful results we have experienced. Additionally, our Dscout account managers work tirelessly to ensure our projects are set up easily, participants are high quality, and we are provided with tangible recommendations to enhance our project methodologies.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Recruiting in certain smaller markets can still be challenging as it remains fairly US-centric. Whilst we have seen a huge improvement over the past year, we still have to be mindful of the challenges of recruiting customers in certain countries (and the associated costs this can bring).

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout allows us to work and engage with our customers globally from the comfort of their homes or offices. This results in us being able to access, connect with, and better represent our diverse customer base across multiple countries. This has helped to reduce feedback tensions or geographical constraints which we used to face. Unlike previous years, where physical environments in major cities were necessary, our remote-first approach is now central to our operations. This allows us to manage larger and more diverse projects while producing the most insightful results we have experienced.

  ### 22. The best platform for personalized research support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

dscout makes longitudinal research easier than any other platform or self-serve approach I've tried. It's got a nice interface within missions, making sorting and navigating between your participants' responses a breeze. But by far the biggest selling point of dscout to me is the phenomenal personal support they offer - from research planning, to participant management, to analysis, they've always been extremely helpful and make my life as a researcher balancing multiple projects so much easier.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I find it a little difficult to navigate dscout's different project types - it's not totally transparent what functions are found in express missions vs usability tests, for example. Thankfully there's great support available for setting up your research, but I could easily see myself getting a little lost in finding the right way to set up a particular design on my own. I also haven't been totally satisfied with participant quality, and usually end up with a small handful of participants that really engage the absolute minimum amount, but I wouldn't call it distinctly worse than other platforms in that regard - just not a selling point.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout is helping us better understand how our users learn new features and build habits over time, enabling us to build towards the aspects they find most valuable or pivot when our intended value isn't coming across. Practically, dscout also helps us deal with having a small dedicated research team for a large organization with many competing research priorities, by allowing us to outsource the time-intensive portions of projects that don't always need our full attention, which means that more product teams across the company can benefit from having research access.

  ### 23. Dscout Gives High Quality Service and Participants

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The best part about dscout is the account reps that help you along the way. They provide everything from test set up coaching based on their participant pools to reviewing screeners and set ups. At the very least it's great to have a separate set of eyes on my materials who aren't so close to projects that can give objective feedback. Additionally, the quality of participants is top notch. They always give detailed feedback and are so passionate to be part of studies!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Categorizing participants could be improved. I've run a few studies where all my participant were classified as Eligible or below and had to manually review their entries in detail to figure out who were a good fit or above.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is helping our business get deep insights quickly on our products from quality participants that meet our sometimes tough requirements.

  ### 24. Great Platform for Remote Diary Studies!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The pool of participants Dscout offers is great and we never have issues finding scouts that meet our requirements. The ability to engage with scouts throughout the process is unique and also super beneficial for asking followup and clarifying questions. I love the flexibility in the mission design and the ability to vet participants before inviting them to the study.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The transcriptions could still be improved, but this is only a minor issue. Also having additional ways to filter and view data (especially open ended responses) side by side or enabling an easier way to code data would be helpful.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Dscout to understand our customers' journeys throughout our business and channels as well as get feedback on store / digital experiences and products. We have used the platform to monitor customers while online, in their homes, or in stores.

  ### 25. Effective, easy-to-use tool for a variety of research methods!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The platform is really easy to navigate, and facilitates quick and high quality research insights when needed! The dscout advisors are also available to support where needed. Overall, I and my research team have found dscout to be a great tool for executing research!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The export features are a little cumbersome and tricky to work with, particularly for media files. It'd be amazing if we could customize filenames before exporting data for analysis. Additionally, the analysis tools aren't quite as powerful as I'd like, and it's fairly expensive.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout helps us reach users quickly and facilitate insightful research for our stakeholders (i.e. through diary studies, interviews, and surveys). We've been able to inform design decisions on our team, so dscout is helping our team be more impactful!

  ### 26. Irreplaceable powerful research tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout's diary study feature is irreplaceable. I haven't found any other research tool that does what it does. I really appreciate how Dscout keeps adding new features like usability testing and media surveys—they've been super helpful for me. The customer support is also very helpful. They can always address my questions in a timely manner.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I think Dscout could improve by expanding the scout pool. Right now, I notice that many scouts participating in my different studies are often the same, which can lead to a decrease in answer quality.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is the only tool I've found that makes diary studies really easy to conduct. Sometimes, short-term research like interviews can't capture in-depth user experience data, but with Dscout's diary study, I can gather very detailed information. Plus, users complete these tasks in their natural environment.

  ### 27. Excellent Tool for Diary Studies with Great Customer Support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout speeds up research significantly, and its diary study tool is best in class for capturing rich, in-context insights. The support from the dscout team is excellent—always very responsive and ready to assist with any issues or questions.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The recruitment pool can be smaller in certain countries, and the video editing tool could benefit from enhancements for better usability and more editing options.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting rich, qualitative data through diary studies and IDIs, making it easier to gather customer insights quickly and efficiently.

  ### 28. Gets the job done but recruiting is slow and sometimes difficult

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

- Being able to get video responses in screeners
- Automatic session transcriptions
- Connection quality
- Responsive support

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

- Takes several days to recruit, and often not enough of my target audience available
- No syncing with Google Calendar (you can add events but all management is manual)
- Not the most intuitive navigation (but fine once you're used to it)
- Having to be cute about names, descriptions, and pictures to entice scouts to apply
- Every "Talk out loud" question type in Express missions has a screen that scouts have to click through before answering (it gets kind of unwieldy if you use these a lot)

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Research operations tasks like recruitment, waiver management, scheduling, and incentive disbursement, which are a time-suck if you have to do them without an all-in-one tool

  ### 29. Great for Qualitative Research & UXR

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miranda V. | Sr. Consumer Insights Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the versatility of the platform- I can program almost any test, talk to real humans, and engage with rich data, audio, video and photos

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I don't think there's anything that I dislike besides when ya'll changed over the credits- I liked the old way, for some reason it was easier for me to manage budget for projects that way

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is saving us so much in-field time! We can accomplish so much virtually, and screen for the right scouts for our project needs much faster than the way the company was doing things before

  ### 30. High quality recruits, quickly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the ease of creating a new project and deploying a screener, and seeing applicants quickly is a huge bonus. It's a great self-service platform for running studies independently or as a self-documentation component of a larger ethnographic research initiative.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Scouts are responsible for recording themselves, so the videos may not always be the best composition-wise.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The feedback we receive from scouts on dscout helps to shape concepts, define opportunity areas and gain clarity on user needs.

  ### 31. Thoughtful platform and team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sporting Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I really love that this platform is sharply designed for researchers. I feel empowered to do great work by the ease, flexibility and features.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

We do research on a narrow field. Sometimes I worry we will run out of people who meet our recruitment criteria that are also new to our studies.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout as a platforms gives us tech features for research we do not have in house. As consultants it helps augment our small team.

  ### 32. Excellent DIY research tool!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica S. | Sr. Manager, Market Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

We've been using dscout for 2 years, and we love dscout! We are consistently impressed by their staff (strategic thinkers, extremely knowledable, not sales-y). And the tool itself is a very easy to use, all-inclusive research tool (recruitment, scheduling, fieldwork, analysis). And we love that they regularly release new product updates!

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Only 2 dislikes: 1) pricing for niche recruits (e.g. B2B audiences) is rather expensive, and 2) international panel coverage is quite limited. But great for US & Canada recruits.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An excellent all-in-one tool for in-house research

  ### 33. Excellent platform for recruiting and running diary studies

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Building questions for the diary study is straighforward and includes a range of question types. Having a transcript for the videos is useful.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

At the project level, swiching between screeners, missions and diaries could be a lot smoother. Within the diary, having the questions tab burried in setup is frustrating when editing questions in a live diary.

There could be an easier way to manage the range of data types coming out of diary studies to make analysis more straightforward.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not finding quality respondents. dscout helps our team speak to quality respondents that are suitable for different research studies.
Not being able to understand customer and competitor engagement over a period of time. dscout diary studies help to understand this.

  ### 34. Convenient to run interviews and diary study. Great functions to recruit, select, and review answers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Convenient to run interviews and diary study.
Customer support is great
Number of features such as video answers and selecting people based on different criteria.
Diverse pool of users to recruit. New features of AI-infused tech to analyze data.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Pretty difficult for bringing your own participants. They have to sign up a new Dscout account

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Diary study - tracking longitudinal behaviors and attitudes

In-depth interview - sourcing gamers and teenagers

  ### 35. The best platform for diary studies!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like the flexibility to create short clips and video compilations, as well as easily access screener data.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Navigating between data for different questions is often clunky and requires multiple tabs to be kept open

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A all in one platform for diary studies that makes analyzing qualitative data much more straightforward.

  ### 36. The best comprehensive user research platform on the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

My UXR team has been using dscout for a little over a year and the experience has been quite impressive. My team has ran hundreds of studies on dscout and we find it to be the best on the market compared to competitors like userzoom or usertesting.

The dscout platform has streamlined the entire user research process for us and simplified the process of consents, compensation, participant management, and recruitment. Their internal system of scouts is high quality and rivals our own private community panel that we've built. Additionally, it's quite expansive spanning international markets as well.

The customer support has been great with many key features being implemented quickly when requested and the UI and overall UX of their platform is simple for both researchers and most participants.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Some downsides of dscout include the live mobile missions having spotty connection quality at times despite both the participant and researcher having fiber internet. Additionally, it can be somewhat difficult for less tech capable participants to understand how to schedule themselves or utilize the system which can be a recruitment barrier at times.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout is making our research process much quicker and accessible and eliminates much of the work that a project manager would do. It is an essential tool within our kit to complete our research. Additionally, the video editing feature makes clipping 10x easier and faster.

  ### 37. Overall evaluation of Dscout features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Assigned Customer Rep make difference than ony other 3rd party remote UXR vendor services

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The lack of auto summary features on open ended prompts, also the lack of auto report creation including all data and their interpretations are major improvement areas.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Proving reliable insights from target consumers with a seemless prep, execution and excellent assistance and review before execution.

  ### 38. Pretty good all-in-one qual research platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I love the support from the Dscout team. It's also really nice to be able to have all aspects of the poject in one place- screener, diary mission, and IDIs. Not many platforms have such a holistic project setup available for researchers. The convenience of having all these research tools in one place and having on-call help from the Dscout team makes this platform invaluable. Though there are some usability hiccups, I would not want to use a different platform. I' mconvinced Dscout is likely the best platform of its kind.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There are some usability issues with Dcsout: it's difficult to see the full names of tags as you're tagging (due to a very small pop-up window showing these names), unless the tags are quite short. As a result, I have to have a separate window open simultaneously to see the tags names as I'm tagging data. The express mission setup and analysis layout is difficult to use and not as inuitive as that of the diary mission. I would prefer it to mirror the diary mission. It would also be really helpful if there were an option to toggle on making certain groups mutually exclusive. Additonally, I would love to be able to filter by scouts that do NOT have certain groups or tags.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not having to cobble together disjointed platforms for different stages of a resrach project. The integration is seamless for the entire project.

  ### 39. Reliable platform with high quality participants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The main upside to dscout compared to other similar tools is their quality panel. I can always rely on dscout to provide me with high quality participants who are honest in their screener surveys and are great, conscientious participants. I also love that you can do a wide range of studies with the same participants (express and diary studies are particularly unique and useful offerings).

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Mobile live missions are usually wonky with the connection
It takes time to recruit because screeners need to get approved before launch
Panel is relatively small

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

High quality participants at your fingertips.

  ### 40. Big dscout Fan!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Of a lot of the tools I've used, dscout is by far one of the best, especially when it comes to analysis. It's an overall simple interface, and the folks at dscout are wonderful–quick feedback and communication.

In general, a wonderful pool of participants, too, so you can almost always find your demographic on the platform.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I wish it was easier to compare a scout's screener Q&As with the mission Q&As.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout is often the primary method of gathering user insights for the projects I work on. It solves the problem of not knowing what our target audience(s) needs, wants, thinks, and/or feels. I love that we're able to gather both multiple choice, open ended, and video responses, so we can get some qual and quant data within one mission. Especially love that you can uncover a decent amount of info just within the screener.

  ### 41. A decent platform for usertests

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

I like the interface and how easy it is to use dscout to run tests both for desktop and mobile and setting them up, etc.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I don't like how long it takes for a long usertest video result to load. I have had to wait a long long time to load a long usertest view which is inconvenient.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are allowing us to conduct user research with both websites and prototypes which is great! It makes it easy to set up and launch user tests and synthesize results for the most part with the exception of some slow loading of long videos from the results page.

  ### 42. They continue to expand their high quality research tools & services, & excellent participant panel.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franci M. | VP, Lead Design Research & Strategy Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Account reps and customer support are highly qualified and extremely attentive - they are ready to help you.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

People are mostly on the East Coast and I'm on West Coast. This creates delays in corresponding.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The data reports are great for rapid sharing before I have time to get my internal templates ready.
The videos are such high quality.
More and more features.
Super helpful staff.

  ### 43. After 5 years of using DSCOUT...

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Dscout is a great tool to find & understand a wide range of people.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

There are a few things that I've noticed after 5 years of using the platform. One of which is the wide pool of people, with narrow consistent users. Meaning that there are thousands of people on it, but I very often see the same faces across projects.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem that dscout solves for our team is recruiting. Having the video response in a screener, and being able to be 100% confident in your recruit is incredible.

  ### 44. Great start to using dscout

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The platform is intuitive but when I have questions, it is easy to access support.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Synthesizing large datasets of insights can be time consuming. That said, we are trying out the AI tool and so far that has helped significantly.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding consumer reaction to new concepts, prototypes and designs.

  ### 45. Quality respondents with a ton of backend information

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas N. | Sr. User Experience Researcher, Identity & Privacy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The 30 to 60 second screener video questions. These help me vet whether the respondent is truly a good fit or not.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The labeling of the types of tests. I just wish the naming convention was like 'Moderated Interviews', 'Unmoderated Interviews.'

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting feedback on designs as well as holding generative research conversations to better understand a specific subject matter.

  ### 46. Overall, a solid platform that could be great with some minor changes

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

Best diary study tool! Very easy to use and I appreciate the build iin customer support in the platform

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Limitation on question styles (e.g., MaxDiff) - Qualtrics is more advanced for surveys

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to see into peoples closets

  ### 47. dscout is awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

dscout is a repository for all of my projects. I can easily cut and paste previous missions and screeners into new projects. It is easy to provide access to new team members. The UI is super easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

The dscout panel isn't as robust as I would like, but I can add third-party recruits. Wish dscout had third-party recruiting available.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting consumer feedback on both products and app usage (via screen sharing).

  ### 48. great way to get all your insights in one place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

the way it is a one stop shop for participants, for building screeners, having various methods of studies to launch, and new AI features.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

Some limitations such as complex video question responses, a way to house a panel would be great

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Dscout provides us with an in-depth understanding of our client/partner journey, pain points and mindset. WIthout it, we’ll lose our ability to conduct foundational/generative client and partner journey studies, in-context and multimedia ethnography studies necessary for white space product innovation.

  ### 49. Excellent platform to recruit and conduct diary studies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erick F. | Senior Manager Strategy, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

The platform is self serve and quite intuitive. Account manager and research experts are very helpful and insightful. Quality of candidates was very impressive. Would definitely pick again for any type of user research

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

I found it to be very solid end to end. Some of the features are harder to understand than others, but I did not need much help

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Screening and recruiting candidates to conduct user research - I did a diary study end to end on Dscout

  ### 50. Great tools, great support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2024

**What do you like best about Dscout?**

dscout has amazing tools for doing User and Customer Research. Their diary study tool is the best I've seen. I also love that I can review participants before adding them to my study. Besides that, the dscout team are a great resource.

**What do you dislike about Dscout?**

This isn't easy. I suppose the only downside would be the cost, but I find it completely worth it.

**What problems is Dscout solving and how is that benefiting you?**

dscout's diary study tools helps us get direct customer insights in situations where we could not otherwise get it.
