Once I set up my preferences the way I had them on auto cad mechanical and had all my templates loaded etc you could be forgiven for thinking you were back on auto cad! very similar user interface and commands too Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although you would quickly remember them if you need some more advanced features. For example edit splines, you can't on my version of draftsight, but obviously can on auto cad. Also you can't email directly from within draftsight (only a small point, but if you do it frequently, the time soon adds up!) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Fast installation, frequent updates, easy to use GUI, lot of functionalities with constant upgrades of existing and adding new ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing, Draftsight is perfect for 2D drafting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The software is free till the end of 2019. Then the price is not too bad. The software interface is user friendly and it is not really difficult to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After each update the software is more and more buggy. Currently is use 2017 version as 2018 and 2019 keeps crashing and it has got too many bugs... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found the no frills DraftSight software to be easily adaptable from AutoCAD with almost all features still available and a similar interface. This will suit anyone ranging from beginner to more the more advanced user. Until recently DraftSight has been free to use, and even with the new pricing system, seems reasonable for the software you get. It's user friendly with all the tools you'd expect from a 2D drafting solution. I like that DraftSight can generate G-Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
DraftSight doesn't have the same range of specific toolsets for certain industries like AutoCAD does (architecture, mechanical, etc). The interface seems a bit outdated and less 'slick' as AutoCAD's, and I feel it could really do with a dark mode option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Draftsight is easy to transition into. Stepping into it from AutoCad wasn't a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Changing to an all paid version of Draftsight. Technical service support isn't what it should be. Even if you have the subscription plan, technical services could cost you an additional $300++ a year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Make simple changes or view 2D drawings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
sometimes unstable, not as user friendly as some other programs, no longer free Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I headed to the perfect software looking for a 2D drawing tool. It is perfectly compatible with AutoCAD file formats and the used interface is really friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Up to the last year, it was free. Now you have to pay to use the 2D features Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you've used AutoCad before, then picking up Draftsight is quite intuitive Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some functionality is held back in the free version, not sure how much more advance the 'premium' version has Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I liked the clear UI. I could navigate to all of the icons easily Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not many people are currently using this so there are very little help and tutorials online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are plenty of online tutorials and it is very similar interface to AutoCAD and other softwares. Full free trial software helps you decide whether its for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is only a 2D software. Depending on your field, 3D is more practical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
